Harry Reid: Linking Obama to Franklin Raines is racist

posted at 3:15 pm on October 9, 2008 by Allahpundit

We’ve been down this road before, haven’t we? Except last time, the race-baiting was being done by some random columnist and this time it’s … the Senate majority leader. Note how exquisitely casually it’s done, too. So commonplace is this sort of rhetoric among Democrats that it’s apt to bubble up even in the course of otherwise cheerful conversation.

His claim that there’s no connection between Obama and Raines except their skin color? A lie, of course. Click the image to listen.

Reid has to share more DNA with weasels and vultures than with humans. I’m equally as sure that weasels and vultures would wretch at the comparison though.

Franklin is african-american. But wasn’t bO’s pappy officially classified as an Arab by the Kenyan government?
Making him an arab-american??
Just asking. Would that make a Difference?

Da_Hutt on October 9, 2008 at 4:00 PM

I have to agree with Reid; the closest tie between Raines and Obama is that they both happen to be African-American.

philnewkirk on October 9, 2008 at 3:26 PM

You need to get out of your mama’s basement more often Spanky.

Old Hippie Vet on October 9, 2008 at 4:00 PM

We need an ad that makes a laughingstock out of the “racist” claims, just like the “Celebrity” ads mocked the worship of Obama. That was a game-changer.

justincase on October 9, 2008 at 3:53 PM

I would not make light of it. I think people are sick of the political correctness police that dominate our daily lives, particularly at work. How many of us have sat through mandatory “diversity” workshops that more closely resembled political indoctrination camps and had bad employees we could not discipline because they were from a protected group? People of common sense (of every stripe) are sick of white liberal guilt finding prejudice where none exists and making victims out of every minority group. McCain needs to tap into that commonsense voting group — he needs to show clips of white liberals screaming racism where there is none and he needs to put Obama’s relationship with Wright on display.

That’s where the whole “He’s got no authentic slave blood” thing of a few months back came from.

It has since conveniently vanished.

Linking Obama to Franklin Raines is racist

The correct term is “homophobic.” Assuming that Raines, Obama, and Reid, all slender and soft-spoken, are homosexuals, is ridiculous. Girly-men are real men too.

JiangxiDad on October 9, 2008 at 4:04 PM

I apologize for being inappropriate, but alas, I have no words but…Fuk Harry Reid

deedtrader on October 9, 2008 at 4:04 PM

I once read a speech about a man having a dream that one day all men would be judge not by the color of their skin, but on the content of their character….I have great concerns about the content of Obama’s character. Does that make me RACIST?

PappaMac on October 9, 2008 at 4:05 PM

…somebody please tell me where Harry Reid was when the footage of Jerry Wright spouting “G*d damn America” and many other golden nuggets were showing up all over the airwaves? Where was he to condemn racism when the racism was issuing forth from the mouth of a man with whom he disargeed.

The Democrats are great at manufacturing “racism” (the “macaca” business and the Tawana Brawley scandal come to mind), and at decrying it in others…when Jesse Jackson speaks of “Hymietown” and Obama speaks of the “racism” of others because he ascribes to them dark motives in noticing that he doesn’t look like the old guys on the money…then, Harry Reid is as silent as the tomb….

Reid is a poltroon, a maroon, and an embarrassment to vertebrates.

It’s what Sarah Palin is so successful at. It’s the ore that she mines. I’m not convinced McCain is really tapped into that.

JiangxiDad on October 9, 2008 at 4:06 PM

Linking Harry Reid to basic intelligence or human decency is insulting.

marc@hubsandspokes on October 9, 2008 at 4:07 PM

The American Gothic comparison is so apt…Democrats have been farming votes for decades.

JiangxiDad on October 9, 2008 at 4:06 PM

Yep, she’s better at reaching commonsense voters on everyday issues. That’s fine. Use the Veep nominee for these sorts of attacks if he’s not comfortable doing it.

But, as a senior member of Congress, Sen. McCain needs to personally handle the ACORN stuff. IMHO, that’s the topic to go nuclear on, not Ayers or even Wright (although I think those are damning, too).

I live in a neighborhood that’s being taken over by Mexicans. My family is good friends with our neighbor (a white woman) and her white/Hispanic daughter. The neighbor kids used to always be over at our house. Now that this girl is 11, going to the middle school, she’s too cool to be with us “whities” any more, unless she needs something.

She laughed about our window getting broken. Laughed about the gang members who stole money from a guy they knew would be visiting his daughter in critical condition – after burying his 19-yr-old and 9-yr-old. Mistook our marigold for pot and told all the neighbors that we were growing pot.

Anyway, she’s brown and doesn’t know where she fits. But we had a conversation pulling weeds one day this summer. She said Hispanics are racist and proud of it. Their race is their family. Everybody else is an outsider. She said they love excitement, fights, drugs, and gangs – it’s in their blood and they can’t help it. She said they mean to take over our culture and laugh at “whities” being so scared they won’t even fight back. She said they’re going to walk all over us and use accusations of “racism” to get us to roll over and die.

I challenged some of her ideas, but as I’ve watched the gangs taking over my kids’ schools I have to say I agree that they know how to play the race card while laughing in our faces because they’re more racist than anybody.

The Latino community’s 16-year-old drug dealer is an example of the cynicism: He got a monetary DARE award for his essay of “Why I choose to Stay Drug-Free.” Every kid in tthe place was snickering under their applause.

My daugter’s best friend is Black/white cross and 2nd-best friend is Hispanic. And they’re great people. They’re intelligent and just really neat, talented girls. They don’t have much to do with the “racist and proud of it” gangs – but the diversity/tolerance/multi-culturalism programs the kids have to go through in the schools are geared toward calling everybody racist except the ones who boast of being racist.

Oh, it’s definitely serious. Take the whole Duke lacrosse thing. A white democrat willing to hide evidence of a black woman’s blatantly false accusations in order to win an elecion. Never minding that he destroyed the lives of 3 innocent young men AND revealed to the world just what kind of low-life scum their accuser was.

Yes, people are mad about it, and should be.

But the way to really make their claims ineffective, I think, is cutting humor that shows how brainless they really are.

Isn’t it racist to compare McCain to Bush? They are both white after all.

Speedwagon82 on October 9, 2008 at 5:43 PM

He makes a bastard charge of racism, a sarcasm, a burlesque. Harry Reid has no such thing as a public conscience. Morally he is just a joke.

MB4 on October 9, 2008 at 5:46 PM

You know, Harry looks like that Nazi in the Raiders movie, “The Last Crusade”. The one where they are trying to choose the correct Holy Grail. The Nazi picks the wrong one, drinks from it, and his face melts off and POOF all the evil is sucked right out of his body and then he turns to dust. I have a feeling when Harry meets his maker something similar might take place.

Can we start saying that if you call us, or McCain, or Palin a racist that they are insane? I mean, we have got to come up with some kind of answer to this. This is getting really old and I think they are going to hurt their own ticket for all this slime.

alwaysright43 on October 9, 2008 at 8:13 PM

I wonder what my odds of surviving the next four years will be. This is in all seriousness. I am normally a very laid back person; even ’93-’01. A daily dose of one sheep or another bleating “racist” is going to grow wearisome.

UndertheBridge on October 9, 2008 at 8:28 PM

Folks this is getting more dangerous by the day. Schumer is flooding money into KY to defeat McConnell so he can have a filibuster-proof senate of Democrats. Our nation faces a serious erosion of balance of power, threat of total socialistic takeover, loss of the right of fair voting(ACORN), a fifth column media cabal, and financial ruin at the hands of these people. Maybe Rev Wrights curse is coming to pass but there are still about half the population not on board to the collapse and have 2nd amendment rights. If ever tyranny has raised it’s ugly head it is now. Pray for our country, I believe we are in a deep spiritual warfare for the heart and mind of America.

wepeople on October 9, 2008 at 8:32 PM

Nothing more can be said about Harry, Nancy, Barney, Teddy and The One. As wepeople on October 9, 2008 at 8:32 PM astutuely points out we are on the brink of a cultural and spirtual war for the soul of America. Sadly those that are blind to this will wake up one morning and realize that there are more folks in the wagon than there are pulling the wagon.

Healing you will feel!
