Open thread: McCain and Palin on “Hannity & Colmes”

9 p.m. ET on FNC, as always. Maverick himself reportedly goes after Obama on Ayers “with gusto,” so look out for that, as well as for the obligatory Fannie/Freddie fingerpointing. Asked for his reaction to the Ayers stuff tonight on ABC, The One invited McCain to say it to his face at the next debate. If he doesn’t, will Obama raise the subject himself to affect a little fightin’-nutroots-brand faux indignation, or is it simply too toxic a topic for him to broach in whatever context? The answer, as always: Depends on how the polls look next week.

While we wait, a sneak preview from the show in which McCain follows Cindy’s right hook this afternoon with a couple of jabs.

I still can’t believe that the DNC, or particularly Hillary, would just sit on the fact that he isn’t a citizen.

October surprise. If the democrats win their electors can vote for Clinton as president.

The case was brought by a democrat. And the Clintons were unprepared for BO – they thought JE was the competition.

Regardless, air the facts. The Obama camp has not acted in a manner that dismisses doubt.

But you don’t think that they would have figured it out during the primary? I mean after Iowa you’d think they would be looking for everything.

From everything we know, the MSM is in the tank for Obama and democrats in general. The MSM has been burying everything critical of democrats.

It is a simple case — produce the original birth certificate. Again, why won’t Obama produce it? He could end this in one second as an urban legend, lunacy or whatever.

The Clintons? Maybe, but there are multiple considerations to take when nuking someone in your own party. I don’t know what they did or didn’t know.

Let me be plain, I don’t know what the story is, but my own initial dismiss of the story has been dismissed as I’ve read more. But I think the question should be asked and I don’t think people should shy away from asking it anymore then McCain should flinch on the hard questions because he might be portrayed as racist. The whole requirement is not to discriminate, but to protect our political system.

It’s designed to prevent a charismatic candidate from overseas sweep in and alter our system. They liked the idea of America marinating in America and American values. Even back then, some fathers considered our values to be our greatest possible export.

If that is good enough for you, then relax your mind on the issue. But you might read this re: FC.org or MM I believe has covered this as well. It’s one of those things that only raises more questions the more it’s examined. That’s why the court process is the way to go.

Spirit of 1776 on October 8, 2008 at 10:57 PM

Lame. Now I actually think it might be true, which means we might have a chance!

Which means when we tank it will be all the more devastating.

I’m late getting in, but I thought it was a good interview. I’m very excited about Sarah working on energy. I do believe McCain WILL do what is necessary. I think they’re really onto something with Ayers and the merry band of thugs.

Sarah is a beautiful woman and I thought McCain looked nice tonight. I liked the orange tie! If he had on a red or light blue tie, we would have said he looked stuffy and predictable. The orange tie was really good!

You know… with the whole birth certificate thing… I think whenever one decides to run for POTUS, they should fill out an application. There are certain documents that are required: birth certificate, tax returns, etc., etc. They candidate will have a “hold” on their application until are the requirements are met. What’s so hard about that? I mean, how common sense is that?

Oink on October 8, 2008 at 11:10 PM

Why would any sane person risk being branded a racist by saying they are voting for McCain?

Y-not on October 8, 2008 at 10:06 PM

Why would any sane person lie about it? You have to be a few fries short of a Happy Meal if you’re so concerned that some anonymous pollster might call you a racist after they hang up the phone that you feel you have to lie about it.

xblade on October 8, 2008 at 11:13 PM

When the MSM put out a gag order on Fred Thompson, it was damned near impossible for him to get any coverage at all from them. And since the American people demanded MSM coverage of a candidate prior to lending any interest or support, info coming from other news sources, Thompson was the initial cross bearer.

But a lot of people who had their favorite candidate smothered have come to realize that they will not let it happen to their last man standing. Not again. Not this same election cycle.

So actually, no matter really that Obama pollsters refuse to credit where “the public” stand right now, it is on anger. We do stand angry. And the only way to cut through the MSM gag on “news”–beyond the blogging and calling in radio shows with an opinion–is to get on the RNC phone banks and do some talking! Anger is like fire. It lives and breaths. It needs to be managed or it destroys everything and everyone. So let’s do our civic duty and help thrust the truth of records over the MSM barriers to reach people by phone so that they can KNOW the real news.

I don’t know what the situation is with the birth certificate, but I will point out that the full name of Factcheck.org is “Annenberg Fact Check.” As in, yeah, that Annenberg — Obama’s former employer. Obama probably hand picked the “fact checker.” I wouldn’t begrudge lefties if they were skeptical of a hypothetical fact checking organization called, say, “Hensley Fact Check” giving McCain the thumbs up.

“I’ll repeat again what I’ve said many times. This is a guy who engaged in some despicable acts 40 years ago when I was eight years old. By the time I met him, 10 or 15 years ago, he was a college professor of education at the University of Illinois . . . And the notion that somehow he has been involved in my campaign, that he is an adviser of mine, that . . . I’ve ‘palled around with a terrorist’, all these statements are made simply to try to score cheap political points.”

Wow. He is repeating word for word what he has said in the past. He’s reciting a carefully crafted, lawyerly, script.

Creepy.

You’d be amazed the power of White Liberal Guilt (WLG). Maybe YOU don’t have such problems, but others do, whether they should or not. That is the reality which must be dealt with.

It’s not just public perception of a sufferer by name. It’s in the person’s own mind as well. Why do insults and taunts sometimes work againt people on anonymous blogs and forums? Why would calling someone racist on a site like this make the cease an attack on Hussein (I’ve seen it elsewhere)? People can get defensive, because they want to “make it clear” they are not “racist” (or whatever).

And they want to convince themselves they are not racist. That’s the flipside of the Bradley Effect. Some people will vote for Hussein despite knowing better. That is why it is essential to confront it. Show the people it’s okay to oppose Hussein, on whatever basis. It’s okay to consider his record, his ideology, his agenda, etc., etc., etc. It’s okay to be honest.

McCain has an ad called, “Debra” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=597YG23mAWs), by a former Hillary Clinton delegate. At the end she says, “A lot of Democrats will vote McCain. It’s okay. Really.” This obviously is to encourage Dems to disregard inhibitions in their vote. Of course, for the campaign to run a comparable ad using, say, a civil rights worker or a NAACP member would be labeled, “racist”. That’s why it falls to the 527s and grassroots to do that part of the job.

It’s called “psychological warfare.”

Just a heads-up in case the Obamaton drops down here too…we have a visitor who is astroturfing Axelrod’s new attempt to silence any person who dares mention Obama’s close friendship with William Ayers:

Coordinated Dem/MSM Spin: You Can’t Even Mention Ayers, Because It’s 1) “Ugly” and 2) a “Dangerous Incitement” to Do Harm to Obama
—Ace
I apologize for the rather alarming headline.

That’s Joe Biden’s claim, though. Not mine.

Ann Curry, “journalist.” “Ugly” tactic.

Joe Biden: “Dangerous incitement.”

Joe, for eight years your party has called Bush a fascist murderer who would likely cancel the 2008 elections, end the American experiment with democracy, and establish a presidency for life.

A leftist contingent sympathetic to the Democratic Party — New Party types, actually — has blared for five years that George Bush actually knowingly murdered 3000 Americans on 9/11 to get the nation into a war fever so he could build a trans-Caspian pipe.

McCain will not defeat the best liar in the Western world with banal reason or pedantic marshmallows.

He should picture Obama as his favorite Viet Cong guard, and then react against Barry’s smarmy crypto-Marxist b.s. with normal human disgust and outrage.

Mac said he would fight.

Not chat.

So FIGHT already.

funky chicken on October 9, 2008 at 12:01 AM

Hmm.

With that in mind, let me say that Obama and Ayers had an extremely friendly relationship. Ayers tapped Obama to help him distribute money to extreme leftist organizations in the name of educational reform and that Obama is not a democrat, but rather an extreme leftist Marxist thug who would devastate our society.

Oh…and he traveled to Kenya and campaigned on taxpayers money for a Marxist thug who lost his election, got advice from Obama, and launched a campaign of genocide in the ultimate form of “community organizing”…and got a powersharing deal out of it.

See? Community organizing works!

(waits for astroturfers to refute)

I think that’s about right.

Am I the only one who hadn’t seen this stuff today? I’m just completely freaked out that they have now started saying that any criticism of Obama’s checkered past is an incitement to violence against him. The race card is played out, so now it’s the lynching card?

This is so beyond the pale as an effort to silence criticism that I’m just…stunned and frightened by it.

Sweet merciful heavens, can you imagine what this guy would do if he actually got elected and was in control of the US Justice Dept?

I hear from a very highly placed source that McCain is waiting for Obama to come out in favor of enforcement first at the border. Then Mccain will pounce, and give him both rhetorical barrels and the gunbutt. Until then, he plans to let Sarah P. carry his testicles for him.

I’m a McCain supporter from prior to 2000.

dakine on October 9, 2008 at 1:07 AM

Wow. Is that admission part of a 12 step process? Hi, my name is Dakine, and I have horrible political judgement. So, with Backdoor John giving new meaning to the word ‘flaccid’ in terms of his attempts to win this election, you actually want to make the arguement that Palin is the weak part of this ticket? After the Gang of 14, McCain-Feingold, ANWR, McCain-Kennedy and the bailout debacle, you believe the worst judgement McCain has shown is his VP selection? You need some help there pal. The problem with the McCain ticket is McCain. He sucks. Your point blows.

austinnelly on October 9, 2008 at 1:37 AM

I haven’t read through the entire thread so, forgive me if this point has already been made.

In regards to BHO’s birth certificate already been reviewed by factcheck.org, I don’t believe that to be true. I believe what they had before them was a ‘certificate of live birth’, a totally different document and not a ‘birth certificate. HR professionals will tell you that ICE (formerly the INS) does not consider a ‘cert. of live birth’ to be a valid form of ID when applying for a job whereas a ‘birth certificate’ is.

Gohawgs on October 9, 2008 at 2:29 AM

Does Obama go around saying how can he believe in Jesus (or Mohammed) when both lived 2000 years before he did?

Ayers was bombing when Obama was 8 years old, but that does not mean that Obama does not believe in the politics and radical left Marxist agenda that Ayers has been pushing all his life.

And Obama says he condemns the bombings that Ayers does, but does he condemn the politics that Ayers pushes? To quote Ayers of himself: “We have always been small ‘c’ communists in the sense that we were never in the [Communist] party and never Stalinists. The ethics of Communism still appeal to me. I don’t like Lenin as much as the early Marx.”
Ayers in his Weather Underground days called for the establishment of a “white fighting force” to be allied with the “Black Liberation Movement” and other “anti-colonial” movements to achieve “the destruction of US imperialism and the achievement of a classless world: world communism.”

Why was Obama working with Ayers who believed in that philosophy? Answer: Because Obama shares similar views.

- Ayers pushes Marxist views.
- Rev. Wright pushed Marxist views through the black liberation theology.
- Obama was attracted to these type people and their politics.
In his book Obama says that he went out of his way to have Marxist professors as his friends and attend socialist conferences while in New York.

The thing that ties them all together is a belief in Marxism.

This is what McCain needs to be educating the people about Obama.

Yes, he’s just a college professor who wrote a book that Obama favorably reviewed that called the US system identical to apartheid South Africa and you know what was done to the apartheid South African gov’t system, don’t you. It also called for the abolishment of all jails in the US as well. McCain should hammer this as well, as Obama wasn’t 10 years old when that book was published.

Factcheck.org is not necessarily a reliable source.

Megadittoes on that one! I wonder how many people know that FactCheck.org is funded by the Annenberg Foundation, the same people who funded the Chicago Annenberg Challenge which hired Obama as Chairman working with Bill Ayers!

From the FactCheck.org website:

The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. The APPC was established by publisher and philanthropist Walter Annenberg in 1994 to create a community of scholars within the University of Pennsylvania that would address public policy issues at the local, state and federal levels.

The APPC accepts NO funding from business corporations, labor unions, political parties, lobbying organizations or individuals. It is funded primarily by the Annenberg Foundation.

Could anyone reasonably expect that one Annenberg Foundation recipient would “fact”ually criticize the former Chairman of another Annenberg Foundation recipient?

FactCheck is in cahoots with the Dear Leader Community Organizer, Barack Hussein Obama! Wake up, people!!!
