I’m in the same boat only a year older. When in December? Mine’s the 19th.

Honestly though I’m glad I was only a child back thing. Neon seemed cool as a kid, but I think it would have been embarrassing as a teen or an adult.

Plus I’m kinda glad I don’t remember Reagan as president. I get the feeling it would make me depressed to see how far we’ve come. Though I do agree with Manly. Coming of age with Clinton was no picnic. Still, it was nice to help get Bush in office as my first vote. He’s no Reagan, but Gore would’ve been horrible.

BWAAAAAAA! This is the ‘old home’ thread for us 80’s freaks, reminiscing about those crazy days. I will admit that if I were younger and took a look at the music and fashion from that era, I would be like “WTF was wrong with you people?”

considering the kids today have brought back the worst of the 60s and 70s to life I am more prone to look at them and wonder “WTF is wrong with these people?>”

They like bad bellbottoms, misfit hip huggers and in a true bout of faux nostalgia ’70s energy, and domestic policy.

‘69 Camaro for me. Loud 80s music like Night Ranger. Gettin’ sideways in the high school parking lot with Still Rock in America turned up real loud, while knowing that President Reagan was on the job, stomping on commies.

The 80s ruled. Nothing else to say.

I never feel younger than when I’m making someone else feel old. And then I turn to my children, currently playing tackle tag, and I feel old again. It’s all relative, right?

And sven10077 – I love Patsy Cline. Mozart and Frank Sinatra too. It’s good to have varied tastes. : )

My late dad – born in 1932 – used to say the same thing, although I did develop a healthy appreciation for music from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s – even if he could never get into the DePeche Mode. Fortunately, I was the bridge between generations and therefore able to enjoy much of the music my own kids enjoy. My daughter loves 80’s tunes and my son is a huge fan of the Big Bands and Doo Wop groups.

It’s all good.
