Video: Palin nails heckler at rally

posted at 10:30 am on October 7, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

The moment comes at the end of this Fox News report, when an anti-war protester tries to disrupt her speech. The SarahCuda doesn’t get mad, but she shuts him down using her Absolute Moral AuthorityTM:

Palin doesn’t get flustered or sidetracked, either. She shows poise and command at the podium, which emphasizes the mistake Team McCain made in keeping her in a bit of a media bubble after the convention. Palin can handle herself when she’s allowed to be herself.

Talk about some serious no-no’s coming out of that one.

Folks, the upside of McCain losing is that four years from now, Obama vs. Palin is going to be like Carter vs. Reagan all over again. She’ll wipe the floor with him.

assuming we are still having elections then.

The financial crisis has some kind of timing, with the ObamaMarxist waiting in the wings.

Then you have Putin declaring the US Capitalistic system is a failure, has been seizing Oil, invading countries. Sending War planes to Cuba and Venezula to do War games stuff, killing critics, sielencing newspapers, poisoning leaders of Ukraine. allying with the Jihadist nations, etc.

Then watch the Yuri Brevnov video from 1984 explaining how the KGB operates.

I still remember the satellite photos of Russian trucks leaving Iraq just before we invaded. Wonder what they took and what Geo-Political football they were helping create for the Leftist of the world?(WMD’s???)

AMEN. Snarking has never won a war, and I feel that is what we’re in right now.

The battlefield is the ballot box and we as a country will choose either a quiet socialist takeover of our country or a regeneration of honor in Washington DC.

I’ve become a pain with the few left leaning folks I encounter, flooding them with material to think about, such as the inevitable bombing of Iran by Israel, what I’ve started to believe is the cold war v 2.0, and a whole host of other crap that our next president will have to deal with.

Ultimately all we can do is cast our own votes and then pray for sanity in our nation and repent for those who will not.

We don’t care about your little whining, you are like a couple of little school girls “yeah, I was going to say something similar, did you see her hair, it was so messsssyyy”.
We keep you around to remind us why we are conservatives, you remind us of how far we have to fall to become a liberal, and you remind us that there are millions of you out there that actually think the way you do. And none of us want to fall that far, none of us want to be ridiculed the way you are on these posts. Thanks for posting, this is how we would be if we ever allowed ourselves not to think or be rational, you both provide a good public service.
You are why only people like you can post at Huffpo or dkos, they embrace your thoughts, we tolerate you as an experiment and a display of how foolish one can be in their rationale.

This is so great.

The Obama/media strategy of tearing down Sarah Palin and trying to turn her into a national joke has failed. Her crowds are getting bigger and the media have to report on genuine moments like this whch show her true ability as a politician. The smears and criticism have only made her stronger and made her a new folk hero to millions of average Americans who are sick of the pointy heads in the MSM telling them what to think and how to vote.

As this campaign goes on the more I think my early thoughts and ideas about Saracuda are most likely to be true. Once she gets more comfortable with the issues “watch out”! She does have natural good political instincts (something that cannot be taught to a politician) and an extremely likable personality. The way she relates to the average American is rare trait indeed. Within a year I expect her to be devastating on many of the issues that seem to have given her problems during her early interviews.

It’s amazing how close the democrats and their media allies were close to destroying her political future and her reputation yet some how she just seems to know how to get shit done when the pressure is at it’s amazing highest.

We republicans have such a bright future. Jindal, Palin, Mitt, The Huckster, Pawlenty, Cantor, The Governor of Missouri Blunt……lots of good Republicans in the Pipeline.

Really that only applies in the circumstance where the other side is more concerned about power than what they were elected to do, such as the ilk of Pelosi and Reid. I must admit I was impressed that there are a few Dems who voted no on the bail out on principle, and I suspect reaching out to those folks wouldn’t raise your voice a couple of octaves.

Marine_Bio on October 7, 2008 at 11:22 AM

You really think electing McCain is going to regenerate honor in DC? Backdoor John, the guy who tried to sneak a giant amnesty around the American People without holding hearings? That’s an honorable act to you? Trying to limit political speech with McCain/Feingold wasn’t particularly honorable either. Yes, he’s more honorable than Barrack Obama, but I can probably find more honorable people than Barrack Obama in a High Security Prison. It’s not hard.
We have choice between a absolutely unacceptable candidate, and just a really bad one, in McCain. My problem is people act like a McCain victory will be a good thing. They selectively ignore all the bad signs. You talk about restoring honor in DC; won’t happen. I listed two bad policies above that McCain was more than willing to side with Democrats against his own base. He’s part of the problem in DC. And a President isn’t enough to restore honor; most of Congress needs to be pryed out, and shipped off to a prison in a garbage truck. Think that’s going to happen? How long has Barney Fwank been in office? Ted Kennedy? Chris Dodd? Charlie Rangel? Unless Congress chooses to police itself by holding people like these accountable, there will never be honor in DC; we’ll just keep having scandals that they get away with. All we’re ensuring with a McCain victory is that Barrack Obama is kept out. McCain isn’t going to clean out the pigpen. He has too many friends in it. Don’t try to softsoap this election; McCain only looks good because Obama is so damn bad. And looks always deceive.

You know, as someone who often feels totally helpless witnessing the relentless, libelous and unfortunately effective, media attacks on conservatives, I think that Sarahcuda is showing us the most effective way to combat it: Turn each one of these occasions into an opportunity to shine the light on the cockroaches and put out the conservative message.
If republicans start doing what she did with the “racism” question every time the MSM brings out one of their idiotic attacks, they will have a hundred opportunities a day to show the MSM and the left for what they are and to communicate their conservative message. If this happens, the media will have to start thinking a little about the questions or avoiding conservatives altogether.
This is true leadership a la Reagan

This is true, hawkdriver. But Iraq is not Iran. You can’t conflate the two. I think a lot of people (whether from ignorance or stupidity) just lump the entire middle east into one bucket: terrorists. They’re different groups, with different ideologies and approaches.
A group like the Iraqi-insurgents can’t hope to force us to “convert or die.” THey don’t have the means. THey can harm us, no doubt. But they’d never have the ability to force the US to convert.
Iran is a larger threat, due to their larger resources and the fact that they’re an ACTUAL COUNTRY. But Palin was not talking about that.
Trent1289 on October 7, 2008 at 11:14 AM

Sorry you took it like that but I’m pretty much disagreeing with you, not my ole buddy up in AK.

There “are” different groups of Muslims. Some would probably just love for the entire world to leave their little Pashtun village at 10,000 in the mountains of Afghanistan alone and not care to influence anyone with their beliefs. But, militant radical Islam isn’t limited to one Muslim demographic. In geopolitics and war fronts it makes a big deal. In my concerns over Sharia Law and the US coming under the influence of groups like care, they’re all cut from the same cloth.

BTW, Iran is inseparable from any front we’ve fought on in the war on terror.; to include Iraq, where young Track Palin currently resides. Your comment that he isn’t fighting for our freedom to speak simply isn’t true. Every victory against Islamic-terrorism is a victory against racial Islam and their desire to institute Sharia Law throughout the world.

Rick Santorum was from my home State. He was the greatest.

We lost his election because 1) Arlen Spector the RINO wouldn’t get behind his campaign and 2) we as a party let the media make us embarrassed at him. They said he was a homophobe because of his pro-marriage legislation. We didn’t stand behind him with an issue that Obama and Biden are actually behind. Defense of the traditional definition of the American Family. But hey, if one of our guys gets caught doing something bad, front page. If one of our guys gets caught doing something honorable and what we support and exactly what he said he was going to do if elected, then it’s hateful and Christian and backward.

We need to guide our party and that requires critique. We’ll get enough attacks from the democrats and their media. We don’t need to do their job for them.

I’m not sure how bad it will be with Obama as president. But if how this campaign is any indication, the press will do anything and everything to support the democrat, and as you point out, frame the message to be anti-republcian for an Obama presidency. I firmly believe that there will be more elections and more opportunities, but I also don’t think that – my magic – a bad Obama presidency will automatically bring about ReaganII either.

I’d like to concentrate in the here and now. And in the here and now, the most liberal democrat in a long time wants to be president. Jimmy Carter didn’t associate with domestic terrorists, and have a bigoted pastor, and nurture a cult mentality with his followers as Obama is doing. It’s one thing to have a Bill Clinton, who didn’t connect the dots with Bin Laden, but quite another thing to have an Obama who wants to get rid of our nuclear weapons, and negotiate with terrorist leaders.

I beg to differ. You most certainly can, or perhaps more accurately could, conflate the two. Both countries just a few short years ago possessed the power to destabilize the entire Middle East and a scenerio whereby a destablized M.E. leads to international destabilization is easy to draw. Iraq under Saddam was a regional power, weakened by, but not entirely neutered by the Gulf War. If not actually possessing WMD’s, they at least had them for some time. Saddam was an idiot, who decided it was a good idea to act like a terrorist head of state who possessed WMD’s at a time when the US was actively hunting terrorists. Thus the ignoring of UN resolutions, the ignoring of ultimatums from the US and the constant chess match with UN inspectors when they were allowed to inspect anything of relevance. Now Saddam and Iraq, thanks to the US, is no longer a regional threat. Historians will argue for decades about the worthiness of the cause and I suspect, in the end, will find it a work born out of necessity.

Iran, much more dangerous than the current Iraq remains and, on the surface at least, appears unphased by international demands that they reign in their nuclear ambitions. I suspect that, if international pressure does not bring Iranian concessions, the Israelis will act unilaterally, especially if Obama is in the White House.

As far as your contention that Governor Palin’s son and the rest of our military in Iraq are not defending our 1st amendment rights, I beleive you too easily disconnect Islamic terrorists from Islamic fundamentalists. All fundamentalists may not be terrorists but I would argue that all terrorists are fundamentalists. Since the goal of an Islamic terrorist and an Islamic fundamentalist is to establish a world wide caliphate, I would assert that our troops in Iraq are defending mine and your first amendment rights by weakening and, or denying that goal to them.

Only from a conservative worldview…

LIFE isn’t a right with liberals…

dominigan on October 7, 2008 at 12:50 PM

Two peas in a pod…
To paraphrase an old SNL skit: “Liberals, you ignorant sluts”

Woah. Apparently I hit a nerve.

Uhh yeah I meant to say her put down made perfect sense. Gosh she’s such a maverick.

We got the wrong person on the top ticket.
2012 can’t come fast enough for me.
Kini on October 7, 2008 at 12:29 PM

Yeah, too bad more people didn’t vote for Sarah Palin in the republican primaries. Oh yeah, that’s right, SHE DIDN’T RUN FOR PRESIDENT. Because she was happy to stay in alaska as the governor with the 80% approval rating.

Palin wouldn’t be on the national stage if it weren’t for McCain. Ingrate.

You’re welcome.

Good lord, you’re an angry little troll today.

You really are an insufferable jerk. Have a f*king rotten day. And while youre at it, a lousy life as well. It’s what you deserve. Creep.

wise_man on October 7, 2008 at 11:12 AM

You’re headed for a heart attack.

MadisonConservative on October 7, 2008 at 1:21 PM

And you’re headed for a broken Hear if McCain actually wins the election, Madison Conservative. Poor little baby, reduced to bringing up off topic comments from other pages to get your revenge.

Talking about troll. Look in the mirror, you despicable excuse for a human being.

wise_man on October 7, 2008 at 1:37 PM

Translated from southerneese “Bless your heart” means “Your so stupid I feel sorry for you.”

Sefton on October 7, 2008 at 11:17 AM

hey my mom always says “bless your heart” to me… DOH!

Kaptain Amerika on October 7, 2008 at 1:38 PM

“Bless your heart” from mom, is alright, Kaptain Amerika. It’s like “Aloha,” or “Shalom.” When spoken to a heckler, it has a different meaning. :)

Madison Conservative.

wise_man on October 7, 2008 at 1:35 PM

Wow. Doubting my political viewpoint. Never seen that before, much less any such musings about Allah, Michelle, Patterico, Ace, (fill-in-the-blank conservative who doesn’t like McCain’s positions on amnesty, CFR, global warming and other issues, and so is critical of his positions because he is liberal on them)…

MadisonConservative on October 7, 2008 at 2:02 PM

Some days I really wonder if we’ll be having 2012 elections if Obama is elected.

Buzzy on October 7, 2008 at 2:15 PM

troll says what?

oh yeah, troll talks to hear himself speak. save it for someone who wants to know what else you think, troll. Nice try with attempting to make it seem that I muse about allah, michelle, patterico, ace and anyone else I’ve never done. Just like you want to think that Karl Rove is saying that McCain will lose to Obama, just like you hope, right?

Seek medical help. you are not right. in the head. buh bye.

wise_man on October 7, 2008 at 2:15 PM

I love it when a dumbass democrat gets a sharp verbal b%^#h-slapping!!!

Where’s the damned global warming, already? I need to find some old aerosol cans and get working. CFCs, do your thang! Maybe I’ll burn some styrofoam, too.

Woah! Cleanup on isle 7! We’ve got a self-proclaimed wise_man with a blown head gasket spewing stuff all over the thread!

Take a chill pill. From a conservative viewpoint, Palin IS better than McCain, hence the original musing. But, you’re absolutely right, McCain was smart to take Palin. I just wish he had her energy in fighting.

When considering McCain, I just feel like William Wallace in Braveheart when he appeals to the leader of the Bruces… “If you would JUST LEAD…”

Actually, it’s kill or convert. You could also become a dhimmi. The overall goal of the radicalized Muslim is to establish the caliphate around the world where all are living under shari’a law.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac

That’s only for Christians or Jews. Atheist lefties would be required to convert directly to Islam in order to be simply enslaved instead of killed outright.

Kristopher on October 7, 2008 at 3:05 PM

CFR?

Campaign Finance Reform. McCain’s baby which gives free speech a run for its money.

How does an intellect that shines so brightly, completely lacking in substance, mezmerize this country and the world through empty words?

Schmo on October 7, 2008 at 12:13 PM

Empty words resonate harmoniously inside empty heads.

When men cease to believe in God, they do not believe in nothing, they believe in anything.
GK Chesterton

And, to clarify, “believe in” == “put their trust in”.

People do not seek to understand truth because they see no value in doing so. They are surrounded by a society that condones their evil, mops up after their mistakes and discourages responsibility.

When the history of the world is narrated in eternity, this time will perhaps be known as the “age of ignorance”; it is the time when humans have access to more reliable information than at any time before, and yet have come to understand almost nothing.
