Video: Meltdown on “The View” over Ayers and Obama
posted at 3:06 pm on October 7, 2008 by Allahpundit
The first clip is yesterday’s undercard, the second today’s Shepherd vs. Hasselbeck main event, in which Sherri goes for the moral equivalence jugular by comparing The One’s professional comfort with a terrorist to McCain cheating on his first wife. Barbara and Whoopi are the ones to watch, though, as neither can quite conceive why a guy who declared war on his own country, replete with a body count, and never got around to feeling sorry about it would still be thought of as a political liability. Why, it happened 40 years ago, well beyond the, um, “statute of limitations” of terrorism, and of course he’s “moved beyond” all that now. Except, of course, he hasn’t.
Exit question I’ve asked before but which, sadly, must be repeated: These meltdowns just aren’t the same without big Ro, are they?

The lefties all take their turns, & if poor Elizabeth tries to inject some truth, they put their hands up & say “Let me finish!” Several minutes later, it’s finally Elizabeth’s turn, but she can’t go 5 sec w/o being shouted down!
jgapinoy on October 7, 2008 at 4:12 PM
Actually, I think Elizabeth does fairly well considering her youth, lack of experience in politics or journalism, and the fact that she is literally under attack every day. And, as Esthier wrote above, Barbara would never in a million years allow any conservative more forceful than E on that show. That would be way too threatening to the rest of those hags.
macblanegirl on October 7, 2008 at 4:13 PM
Whether they can be stopped depends on what one is willing to do to stop them, what means one has available, and whether one will go about it prudently.

This is the first time I have clicked on one of your “View” clips.

McCain. Here’s a tip. Tie Obama to ACORN.
It’s not hard, can you handle it?
lorien1973 on October 7, 2008 at 4:18 PM
It’s like the stupidity of those women (besides Elizabeth) can suck some of your IQ – right from the computer screen. I had to close it right after the lame joke about pulling out of Michigan and staying in Iraq. I knew it would only get worse.
wise_man on October 7, 2008 at 4:19 PM
It was only partially a jest to suggest a lawsuit because of the hostile work environment. Companies have been forced to pay out big bucks for far less bad behavior than what Hasselbeck is subjected to by those three hags.
Your comments above wouldn’t be a problem. Hasselbeck is clearly suffering from Stockholm Syndrome brought about by the constant verbal abuse.
highhopes on October 7, 2008 at 4:20 PM
The “Buzz Up” says 5 votes. So I clicked on it. And I see that their top entry is a “Spechul Commentk” on Palin by Olbermann. 232 votes.
so, this seems pointless.
wise_man on October 7, 2008 at 4:22 PM
Hasselbeck waited patiently for Goldberg to finish her statement and then the rest of them started screeching and clucking at every half sentence she got out of her mouth.
Dash on October 7, 2008 at 4:22 PM
Wait. You talking about Elizabeth Hassleback or [Sarah Palin/Barack Obama]?
YYZ on October 7, 2008 at 4:23 PM
4 against 1…real fair..as they shout her down and the audience claps like a bunch of fools
and the 1 is the only attractive one.

There is a statute of limitations? That is an admonition of Obama’s guilt by Whoopi.
and sure, Mac’s marriage is relevant, it might shift some votes. That’s the way it is.
Seems to me Elizabeth a bee in their bonnet. Very nice.
Spirit of 1776 on October 7, 2008 at 4:27 PM
Dear Elizabeth,
Don’t give up. You are making progress. Keep telling the truth and show the facts you know. Don’t despair. Don’t quit. Don’t give up.
And never doubt that most of America feels the same way you do when you stand up for common sense and against people who hate America.
Bless you, dear.

No, but my father did. For one day. Now he hates chicken. It’s the one thing he almost refuses to eat (he was taught early on not to refuse food).
Esthier on October 7, 2008 at 4:46 PM
Hasselback is simply used as the ‘foil’ on that show. She is kind of like the token conservative on the Bill mahr show.
Once conservatives quit going on these shows then basically all you have is air america radio. Rating sink and poof.
On the upside there may be some Hillary democrats(single white working class moms) who watch that show and may not like seeing her attacked by two angry black girls(can you say Michelle Obama)
There is a reason they keep michelle Obama closeted away and it has got nothing to do with us conservatives.
kangjie on October 7, 2008 at 4:47 PM
Thanks a lot AP. . . .Now my head hurts as much as my
wallet. Should change the name of that show to “TheO’View”
or ” BO View and CO.”

Are you kidding?
And Whoopi never shuts the hell up.
None of those Democratic b*tches let Hasselbeck talk after insisting Hasselbeck not interrupt.
I just can’t watch any more of that crap.

But it is good that a large dinosaur media audience is being exposed to this story. A few of them will begin to ask questions.

The View is like that nasty accident on the highway– I try to turn away, but I look anyway, usually from between splayed fingers.
But the truth is, these clips are starting to have a physical effect on me, creating a vise-like tension between my temples, a barely perceptible twitch above my left eye, and a sheen of sweat on the back of my neck.
I musn’t click anymore, Allah.

Honestly, this has to be satire; they don’t actually mean what they say, do they?
Richard Romano on October 7, 2008 at 5:15 PM
highhopes,
I enjoyed your clever entry regarding the law suit.
You might have a point regarding Hasselbeck suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. I almost vomited all of last year’s meals when I heard her tell people that they all get along and love one another at the View.
What a bunch of BS!!!!!
They clearly do NOT respect her at “The View,” and they clearly are hate filled vultures who don’t know how to listen, and whose brain is locked in “Scream, Shout, Disrespect, and Interrupt” mode.
William2006 on October 7, 2008 at 5:16 PM
I can’t watch that crap, it’s too stressful. I don’t watch TV at all anyway, most of it is garbage. I can’t really watch the debates either. I end up screaming at the TV about the lies or screaming at McCain to grow a pair and fight back. I’d rather read the analysis afterward.
Why don’t people like Michelle and Kristen Powers create a REAL women’s show like they did online a couple of times? THAT would be worth watching.
Common Sense on October 7, 2008 at 5:18 PM
My co-worker subjected me to this today. I told her, “I would rather have hot needles to my face. I would rather have dental work done. I would rather have each hair on my leg pulled out one at a time.” But we watched. It was torture. What harpies Baba, Joy, Whoopi, (not so much) and that other chick is. They just harp on Elisabeth and of course don’t let her explain or get a word in. They are such harpies and their viewers are harpies. They are the stereotypical nincompoop nags that men think we are (at times.)
foxforce91 on October 7, 2008 at 5:18 PM
Oh and why do they call it “The View”? Because there is only one view permitted on the show.
foxforce91 on October 7, 2008 at 5:20 PM
Let’s see… How many people have either cheated on their spouse, divorced their spouse, or been the recipient of these things in America?
OK, now how many people have befriended, worked with, and supported a former domestic terrorist?
As Soledad O’Brien would say, overwhelmingly similar!

Exactly. And this also comes from the same people who were upset that a “private matter” between Bill Clinton and his intern was news and shouldn’t be talked about. And was not any of our businesses. And was a ‘distraction’ and was a republican dirty trick … and was … and was … and … and now they want to talk about McCain’s history.
wise_man on October 7, 2008 at 5:29 PM
A highly debatable point, BaBa. I feel Elisabeth’s pain and frustration, as that is my life every day at work and at home. Hasselbeck should just move on to Fox News and leave the harpies to stew in their own neurosis.

Where’s Joy. Did she have a liposuction appointment that day?
RobCon on October 7, 2008 at 5:34 PM
I can’t stomach those women, why does Elizabeth stay on?
She must go home with the worst headache. Nothing matters to them in the past. Even though that’s all biden wanted to do was to go back to the past. Not these witches, well that is until we talk about Bush. I couldn’t even fihish watching. They are just like alan comlbs (sp). My husband has to leave the room when he’s on.
Bambi on October 7, 2008 at 5:36 PM
Holy crap was that funny. Can you imagine if this weren’t a skit and people actually believed what Whoopie, Joy and the fat retard say? That’s a knee slapper.
oakpack on October 7, 2008 at 5:42 PM
How is it that four prejudiced people can say whatever they want for as long as they want and Elizabeth can’t finish even the first sentence without being cutoff?
Whoopi doesn’t want politicians past investigated too far because its Democrats that have been Klansman and bigots.
Democrats then, Liberals now, its the same subjugation game with different dependencies and a much higher percentage of the country under control.

Didn’t all those hags (except Elisabeth) all admit to adultery sometime last year by raising their hands, most famously when Babs bragged about her Senator married man, she who is so modern? If they could do it, why not your typical stereotypical male?
deedledee on October 7, 2008 at 5:46 PM
Elizabeth needs to get the hell outa there!
TheSitRep on October 7, 2008 at 5:53 PM
Ummm, won’t watch it. But I’m kinda confused why a gal with an NFL quarterback husband would get up every morning and leave the house to go to a job like that. I’m not being sexist here, but it’s not like she needs to go into that hellish dungeon day after day to put food on the table or anything.
funky chicken on October 7, 2008 at 6:01 PM
‘hellish dungeon’ is pretty much what that show and those others are. Elizabeth must really have stronger innards than I. I couldn’t watch that clip for very long.
wise_man on October 7, 2008 at 6:04 PM
Four liberals against one conservative. Yeah, that’s fair.
perroviejo on October 7, 2008 at 6:07 PM
I have no idea what they pay Elizabeth Hasselback, but I am convinced that there is not enough money in the world to tempt me to sit day in and day out while four silly and abrasive women smugly scream ignorant absurdities at me, while an audience full of sillier women applaud.
Renae on October 7, 2008 at 6:16 PM
Rather than watching these videos I chugged a Slurpee as fast as I could to induce a mind numbing brain freeze, then scraped my finger nails across a chalkboard repeatedly.
Same effect.

From Rosie, to Whoppi etc, Barbara Walter’s has allowed the View to be taken over by race baiters. IMO, the show is officially in the Jerry Springer outhouse!
byteshredder on October 7, 2008 at 6:52 PM
And also left out by the harpies is that the planned dance hall bombing would have killed dozens or hundreds of women. Thanks for thinking of the sisters, b*tches.
andycanuck on October 7, 2008 at 6:58 PM
Two sayings come immediately to mind:
“It’s a dirty job but …”
“All that is necessary for evil to triumph is …”
I cannot know what her motivations are but perhaps she’s just ‘on-duty’, resisting the opponent and faithfully holding her section of the front line.
YiZhangZhe on October 7, 2008 at 7:16 PM
Hasselbeck does pretty well 4 to 1 against those harpies and with less than 1/5 of the time to speak.

Hasselbeck needs to get off that circus of a show! She is nothing but a punching bag arguing with fools. They do not care what she has to say. She is there to be kicked, mocked and punched while the audience applauds and laughs. Like a true circus side show,, The other 4 females are cowards. They could never tolerate it if the odds were reversed. Never! I am also sick of the crap argument from blacks like Woopie,, I could tell what she was starting to say,, that blacks have a different opinion of America. I have heard her say this before. As though blacks are justified in hating America. GUESS WHAT WOOPIE, THERE WAS SLAVERY IN EUROPE ALSO! THERE HAS BEEN SLAVERY IN EVERY CONTINENT ON EARTH SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME AND THERE IS SLAVERY STILL TODAY,, BUT NOT IN AMERICA! Unless you count what the Democrats are trying to do.
If reparations are ever to be paid,, then to accept the reparations for slavery, you should have to leave the country! Give any descendant of slaves $50,000. for all i care,, give them a million,, and with that a one way ticket to the nation of their choice! If they decline the money,, than they are agreeing that they love this nation and are proud to be called Americans! Then, we can get this stupid thing behind us! I think that might be reparations I would support!

They need to get another conervative woman on that show, who can really defend herself. Laura Ingraham, where are you?
Steve Z on October 7, 2008 at 11:51 PM
What I love is that, when Hasselbeck tries to correct Babs and Whoopi, both tell her, “We know you have plenty to say, just let us talk.” …and she does.
She doesn’t get more than 15 seconds (10 seconds, actually, as opposed to 3minutes 18seconds-check the times) worth of dialog and both jump over her.
I suppose it’s okay to be rude, as long as you’re a liberal.
CatsGodot on October 8, 2008 at 1:25 AM
Incidentally, is there anyone else that can listen to clips of The View that doesn’t hear cluck cluck cluck CLUCK!?
Oh, hey, Babs, ProTip: Valid criticism on the party you side with isn’t “mudslinging.” That’s…um…journalism? You know, that weird, whacky thing that I’ve heard that you studied eons ago? You may have to dust off those old scrolls and move aside those leaden alchemy beakers, but I’m sure you still have relics from those days of old.

It’s like sticking my head in a chicken coop.
This is just terrible to listen to.
JG2K6 on October 8, 2008 at 3:31 AM
Elizabeth appears to be a good person with a good heart but she’s out-gunned and in over her head. And I’m not sure she’s all that smart either.
I’d like to see her replaced with either Ann Coulter or Laura Ingraham. But that will never happen because the liberal harpies would be on the receiving end.

Remember the scene from Music Man, where the women of the town criticize Marian the librarian for Prof Hill? I think “Pick-a-little” was the name of the song. The View always reminds me of this scene. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bdS6f4M-pA
