Palin: The attacks “may get kind of rough” going forward

posted at 6:30 pm on October 6, 2008 by Allahpundit

That line comes near the end, bookended by yet another rip on Ayers and a name-check of Tina Fey that’s destined to be incorporated into the next SNL skit. If nothing else, the fact that the ‘Cuda’s willing to play attack dog undermines the theory that she views the campaign mainly as a vehicle to polish her own prospects. Her unfavorables are already at 40 percent in two new polls; going sharply negative over the final month on a guy who’s momentarily poised to win big won’t help reduce those numbers, although like everything else she does, it will of course further endear her to the base.

Man, that should be one warm, friendly town hall debate tomorrow night, huh?

At 7:10 p.m. on Hardball. Peggy Noonan doesn’t know who she is going to vote for. He said he’s not sure who she’s going to vote for and she has nothing to say except to go back to slamming on mccain.

Does anyone still refer to her as a conservative columnist?

Noonan has become a joke and has found her proper place on MSNBC.

“Kick em in the nuts; and crap on their face.”

“There is still a serious question whether Osama Obama actually has any….”

Oh, he does… or did. His lovely Michelle had them bronzed and mounted over the fireplace. If he’s very good, she lets him hold them.

For five minutes.

On their anniversary.

Drunken Angry Clown on October 6, 2008 at 7:19 PM

I just saw where Juan Williams on Fox said the Obama campaign figured the “Bradley Effect” at about 5%”. Given that they aren’t going to tell anyone from Fox the truth (or anyone else, for that matter), I suspect it is actually around 7%. I have read a number of articles about it and researched all the numbers I could find and it appears to be around 7-10%.

Without giving any consideration to the impact of the change in the campaign effort (is that a good way to say it?) and, given that for some strange reason, all the polls at this stage of the campaign always seems to favor the Democrat candidate by several points… you can make your own mental adjustment for these factors.

Given just the 7% referenced above, the RCP Battleground pushes McCain over 300 electoral votes. Personally, I still believe it will be 50 of 50 for McCain unless Obama has a good day and wins Illinois. DC is a given for Obama unless he has a bad day.

Sarah might as well burn Obaco up, damage him as much as possible just in case he wins. If this goes on all month, at least you won’t be able to say she didn’t make an effort to do the media’s job and inform America what a POS Obasco really is.

If it’s true that you get the government you deserve, and Obambo gets elected, then we must be a seriously undeserving lot.

Count on Allahpundit… Every silver lining has a dark cloud. Every pony has a pile of horse sh!t. Just as a historical check, what were Kerry’s and Gore’s poll numbers one month before the election? They were ahead, by double digits in some polls. What does that mean? Polls are worthless! The only poll that matters happens November 4th.

Richard Fuld CEO for Lehman was punched in the face in the company gym for his greed and mismanagement and payoffs to the politicians.
Yes, it is going to get rough out there. We the people have been punched in the face, lied to and had a liberal jack boot held on our neck by the MSM, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Andrea Mitchell, Chuck Todd, Douglas Daniels, and many many more. If things go south there will be blood, lipstick and a lot more. But we must do the punching now. Don’t let the MSM intimidate us anymore…go after them. From Newsbusters:

On Monday’s The Situation Room, CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer interrupted a back-and-forth discussion on the presidential campaign between Democratic strategist Donna Brazile and CNS News editor-in-chief Terry Jeffrey for a live video feed of rock musician Bruce Springsteen at a Barack Obama campaign rally in Michigan: “I want both of you to stand by because Bruce Springsteen is singing right now at a Barack Obama rally in Michigan, and I can’t help but want to listen a little bit. Listen to ‘The Boss.’”

UN-fricken-believable.

spmat on October 6, 2008 at 7:01 PM

I hope she doesn’t. I don’t get hung up on the pronunciation of a word, and I am fond enough of GWB that I find the pronunciation “nucular” somewhat comforting. What bugs the crap out of me is the way Obama says “troops” like he is forcing a distateful word through his teeth.

HawaiiLwyr on October 6, 2008 at 7:32 PM

This should be an ass-kicking month in just about every sense of the word. Outside of the epic struggle between Harrison and Cleveland in 1888, I can’t think of a time more electric in American politics.

neuquenguy on October 6, 2008 at 7:22 PM

Do not trust the polls. The people who will decide this thing are “common sense” voters who are not particularly political and don’t respond to pollsters. It’s our job to help them see that Obama is not a mainstream guy — he’s a radical leftist — and also our job to help them see that a McCain administration would lead to less government interference, greater personal opportunity, and more national security.

I hope the McCain camp and the RNC are pulling out the names of people who gave to Hillary but did not give to Obama since he became the nominee. I would send a special mailing (or do phone banks) to those folks hitting on hot button issues for PUMAs. We need the disenchanted democrats to vote for McCain.

Peggy Noonan, Charles Krauthammer, George Will, Kathleen Parker, Heather MacDonald et al aren’t going to like Sarah Palin any better if McCain loses this election. If we want her in the WH, the time to beat them down like the tired old nags that they are is NOW.

Obama’s calling Palin racist, and the attacks coming at her from all kinds of elitists are motivating the PUMA brigades like crazy. With the PUMAS and republicans together, we can win this thing.

Obama was campaigning in Miami today while Palin was over here in Ft. Myers. Palin’s event had to turn people away because the Germain Arena was considerably oversold. My wife tells me the people went to surrounding malls/bars and watched on TV.

I hope so.

I think there are a lot of folks who are not telegraphing their votes. My neighborhood has very few signs (even Obama signs are somewhat scarce) and this is a pretty politically active town. The Obama supporters are too quick to ridicule people who are not already in the fold. People who are for or even leaning toward McCain-Palin keep mum to avoid confrontations (verbal and worse, quite frankly). I know that the neighbors at my end of the cul-de-sac are conservatives, but we live near a popular park and none of us have lawn signs. I don’t want my car keyed.

I hope the PSYOPS campaign by the Obama astroturfers, the MSM, and pollsters is not effective at suppressing the vote.

Nucular is not a word, its use by Dwight Eisenhower, Carter or Clinton notwithstanding.

I’m over being in chat rooms where I’m called a racist because I question Obama.

I was in London a few weeks ago and was approached by a Barack-the-Vote idiot who wanted to know if I had any overseas friends who weren’t registered to vote. Once upon a time, I would’ve loved to have a tete a tete or would’ve loved to give her shit for interrupting my most pleasant day, but I couldn’t be bothered with trying to debate…because there’s no real debate coming from that side.

As of Labor Day Weekend, an old friend hasn’t spoken to me after I bitched to him over the phone about the Dem Party (of which I have been a member since I was of voting age – with a four year bout as Independent). I didn’t even mention who I was voting for (hey, for all he knew, I could’ve been leaning towards Barr) and he just screamed “WELL THEN JUST DON’T VOTE!!!” I was quite taken aback at his “Democratic” ass telling me not to exercise my right as a US citizen, and called him out on it. Needless to say, he couldn’t bear my subsequent logic and promptly hung up the phone. Haven’t heard from him since.

I could’ve changed back to Independent, but voting for McCain as a Dem will be so deeeelicious!

So I’m walking my dogs this morning, I pass this house where I’ve spoken to the elderly people who live there, several times- just in passing, but friendly, and I see “The Sign”. The hideous Obama sign. I can’t stand it, I say: “What are you thinking?!” They say, (very defensively) “well, we just want to see what he can do”. I almost screech at them, “Are you not worried about his incredibly liberal position on everything? are you concerned about socialism?” This is their incredibly frightening answer:

“Well maybe, it’s time for America to try that. We ought to be more worried about things being fair”.

I almost puked all over that damn sign, right then and there. Tht is what we’re up against.

Do not trust the polls. The people who will decide this thing are “common sense” voters who are not particularly political and don’t respond to pollsters.
Y-not on October 6, 2008 at 7:33 PM

I concur. I’ve made phone calls from our victory center to Republican and Republican leaning households. No one wants a political call. If I have a list of 100 households, I might get 5 to respond to the poll. And with caller id these days, not many answer.

I don’t believe these polls for a second.

They unleashed the “Hussein” card earlier today. How long before we start hearing about Farrakhan and seeing Barry’s face morph into Osama in campaign ads?

If someone can show me a document written by Gov. Palin in which she spells nuclear “nucular” (or “nukular”), then maybe I’ll be concerned. Barring that, I have concluded that she is simply using an increasingly common pronunciation of that word. You’re quite right that it is not a standard (”correct”) pronunciation in U.S. English, but neither is “Hah-vahd” for “Harvard” or “aks” for “ask.”

At the end of the day, I would just as soon leave the remarks about accents to the other party’s vice presidential nominee: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIT3jUrNTX0

(Incidentally, I taught college-level biophysics and would never mark down my student for mispronouncing “nuclear,” only for using the term incorrectly or possibly for misspelling it.)

Funny you should say that. Fatigue with battling liberal academics (redundant, I know) at faculty meetings was one reason I left the ivory tower.

Reminds me of my ex-mother in laws answer in about 1993 when I confronted her over her Clinton vote and all of his moral problems, “We didn’t know, we just didn’t know.” I not so politely reminder her that I personally had sounded the warnings over and over and was told to pipe down! So glad to have them as an ex-family!!!! Is mother-in-law abuse by speaking the blunt truth grounds for divorce?

“Well maybe, it’s time for America to try that. We ought to be more worried about things being fair”.

anniekc on October 6, 2008 at 8:13 PM

Isn’t “fair” one of the most abused and misunderstood words in the language?
Is it “fair” for someone to have a job and someone else not? well, maybe. Is it fair to take from the reach and give to the poor?
What an idiotic statement. Thank you government schools!

It doesn’t seem that there was much bounce after Palin emasculated Biden. In fact the Pew poll (which as I understand is pretty good) says that the debate helped Biden more than Palin. What the heck is going on in this country? I am starting to suspect that I might be some fringe lunatic right-wing moron completely out of touch, this doesn’t make any sense to me, has the whole country lost their collective mind?. Help Please! I am close to having myself committed.

neuquenguy on October 6, 2008 at 7:22 PM

The people polled mostly did not see the debate, and are therefore a reflection of how the media told them the debate went.

I think that one of the interesting things to see with this election is we conservatives have convinced the public that the press is biased, but I don’t think we’ve managed to show the public *how* in the tank for Obama the media is.

Considering that, I think negative ads from McCain have the potential to hurt the Obama campaign in the same way as the Swiftees brought down Kerry. Of course with Kerry, the media was protecting one Achilles heel – Obama has what, half a dozen?

Actually, I’ve been reminding people that Bill Clinton ran on a pledge to cut middle class taxes by raising taxes on “the rich” just like Obama is running on now. That worked out real well now didn’t it?

Shopper to store clerk: Do you have any chocolate-covered lizard eggs?

Store clerk: Sure don’t!

I’m from Maryland originally but have lived all over and traveled extensively and I’ve only heard “Sure don’t” in Houston. I think it’s charming.

Y-not on October 6, 2008 at 7:57 PM

Used in Iron Man too, less charming but more funny:
*Tony Stark strides through party*
Well dressed pretty girl: “Hey Tony, Remember me?”
Tony: (strides right past) “Sure don’t!”

It’s an increasingly common mispronunciation, sure. Doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea to use it. For someone that would otherwise have a good leg to stand on regarding energy policy, hearing such an ignorant-sounding mispronunciation from their mouth is like someone dropping a load on your fresh silk sheets. Sure they might not be able to help it, but it still kinda ruins your night.

Also, if you aren’t correcting your students appropriately, then you’re not doing your job.

I’ve been using that on some of the folks I’m trying to convince not to vote for Barry.

Clinton before the election: “I will cut middle class taxes, and tax only the rich.”

Clinton after the election: “I’ve never worked so hard in my life than trying to give you a tax break. Now pay up, everyone!”

I’m waiting to see the ad from the McCain camp showing the boarded up tenements in Chicago that Sen. Uhbummer helped create as a community organizer. It should be captioned with something like “Obama’s prime accomplishment as an organizer”.

RFA on October 6, 2008 at 9:26 PM

Good stuff from NRO:

Very soon after she was picked to be McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin was attacked by Obama campaign spokesmen and a Democratic member of Congress for once being seen wearing a Pat Buchanan button. She had an answer and the campaign offered it. Yet now we are asked to believe that it’s somehow inappropriate to inquire why Barack Obama’s political career began in the home of an admitted and unrepentant domestic terrorist of the radical left?

I hope Sarah gets a copy of this :)

How long before we start hearing about Farrakhan

Louie is certainly fair game….Obama’s “church” feted the racist and Michelle (hey, where has the bitter half been these days? negatives higher than Hillary me-thinks); anyway, there’s a pic of Michelle out on the Internet in a luncheon gathering with Louie-the-racist’s wife.

btw, I think Obambi’s Chicago “church” is simply a fake “christian” version of the Nation of Isslam.

Something smells in Chicago.
