New ads: Gun owners for and against Obama

posted at 3:44 pm on October 6, 2008 by Allahpundit

The first clip comes from The One, the second from the NRA. Note the reference to criminal illegal aliens; that alone would be enough to tell you it’s not the handiwork of Team Maverick or the RNC.

For your companion reading, PJM’s primer on the Joyce Foundation’s legal scholarship campaign against Second Amendment rights. I trust board member Barack Obama voted “present.”

wow the production on that second ad was perfect really really well done. and i love how 1/2 of obamas ad was about jobs overseas…when your gun rights ad spends 1/2 its time on jobs overseas…seems like gun rights arent your strong point.

I’ve never owned a gun in my life, but the first thing I’m going to do if Obama gets elected is to buy one.

When an unqualified, corrupt and incompetent politician takes over who is clearly hostile to the country he’s supposed to be serving, that’s what you do. You arm yourself.

Can we check Greg West’s membership in the NRA? If he is a life member, then he needs to have his membership revoked and an IQ test administered. I’m a member of the NRA and I can’t believe that a supposed NRA life member would support this Marxist. Maybe his life membership was a gift.

“The second amendment gives the individual citizen a means of protection against the despotism of the state. Look what it refers to: “The security of a free state.” The word “free” should be underlined because that is what they are talking about and that is what the Constitution is about–a free nation and a free people, where the rights of the individual are preeminent. The founding fathers had seen, as the Declaration of Independence tells us, what a despotic government can do to its own people. Indeed, every American should read the Declaration of Independence before he reads the Constitution, and he will see that the Constitution aims at preventing a recurrence of the way George III’s government treated the colonies.”

– President Ronald Reagan

The new DFL primacy would simply repeal the second amendment, then I would be moving to Texas for the inevitable uprising.

Bishop on October 6, 2008 at 4:00 PM

I would not wait until after the election to purchase a handgun. If the selected one wins, the first thing they will enact is to ban handgun ammunition and then guns. Sounds unbelievable but I have no doubt that will happen and quickly. Overthrowing our democracy will require the rapid disarming of citizens (for our own protection). It is the last protection given to us by our founding fathers and for good reason.

I looked into this years ago in regard to removing Michael Moore’s lifetime membership (yes, he has one–from a shooting club growing up or something). It can be done. It involves petitioning the Board of Directors. But from personal experience with a LOT of organization (politicl or whatever), such groups don’t like to do that. “Slippey slope,” I suspec.

You know you’re a liberal Democrat when…..

…..Your gun rights ad spends half its time on outsourcing.

…..Your economic advisors were responsible for bringing down the mortgage industry.

…..Your defense strategy involves the use of a white flag.

Part 3: God and Ronald Reagan –
Finding God in Hollywood

Though Reagan was not political in his early Hollywood days, the growing communist influence in the movie industry captured his interest. During a speech to a group in Los Angeles, he spoke of the growing threat of fascism. After the speech, a pastor approached him, saying that communism was an equal danger and needed to be addressed.

Reagan did address the issue, and his criticisms of communism made him many enemies.

“To Reagan few passages of his life had been as grueling as those years when he faced physical intimidation, including a threat that he would be splashed with acid, ruining the big screen face he depended upon for income,” the author recalled. “He began packing a .32 Smith and Wesson pistol, holstering the gun on every morning for months and wearing it until he stepped into bed at night.

The pastor’s comment sparked a passion for exposing communism that would dominate Reagan for the rest of his political life and would lead to his own crusade to bring down the Soviet Union.

Yeah. It’s that important.

Lance Murdock on October 6, 2008 at 3:54 PM

Allow me to explain. You see, since we have the 2nd highest corporate tax rates in the world, businesses are moving offshore or outsourcing jobs e.g. to India to save money. Hussein would exacerbate this problem by raising taxes on everyone and everything, while at the same time doing everything in his power to force these corporations to stay domiciled here, making their bankruptcy inevitable. In short, to ensure that businesses do not move offshore, he will destroy them.

In much the same way, he will destroy gun rights with “sensible gun control” to ensure that although we might still be allowed to own guns, bullets will be taxed a $5 each, gun stores will be legislated out of existence, and lawsuits will drown gun manufacturers. All of this in order to preserve the rights of law-abiding gun owners, meaning hunters.

Correct, and you may also want to consider buying off the record from an individual, maybe in another town, and paying cash.

One of the first things the banners will do is collect the sales records from licensed dealers. One of the next things they will do is find you, if you are in those records.

That second ad was great. I even recognize that downtown San Antonio street corner shown at 00:16! This ad points out something that I know to be true: Many South Texas Hispanics love to hunt and are AVID gun-owners. I doubt such folks will vote for Obama in large numbers. (The illegals who are permitted to vote, on the other hand, ….)

BrianA on October 6, 2008 at 4:27 PM

Wish I could. Didn’t make sense to me either. He simply asserts that Obama won’t take guns away, without backing it up, and then moves on to jobs being moved overseas as though that’s what NRA people really care about.

I’m not part of the NRA, so maybe I’m missing one of their core principles, but I doubt it.

I’m gonna do an in-depth post on it too, but I’ll give a basic explanation. What Obama is doing is a few things, first, he’s trying to drive a wedge between different gun groups, and the second is that he’s trying make outsourcing and the economy the biggest perceived threat to blue collar types who are socially more conservative and are often hunters and gunowners.

CrazyGene on October 6, 2008 at 4:39 PM

Those of you who don’t yet own a gun should definitely arm yourselves asap. One centerfire semi-auto rifle (think about availability of magazines and ubiquitous ammunition), one sidearm, and one shotgun for each member of the family. That’s a good starting point. If you can’t afford all three, focus on the rifle with at least 6 magazines and as much ammunition as you can afford. Then, practice, practice, paractice. Rifle ain’t no good if you can’t hit with it and maintain it. Ditto to whoever mentioned medical supplies and training.

As far as the gummint going door to door with lists of gun owners…If you haven’t headed to the hills by that point, it may well be too late. I’ll be gone the minute there are rumors of such activity.

Obama may support hunting but he will appoint, and his democratic congress, will confirm, Supreme Court judges who will allow sever restrictions on handguns, then ammo, then long arms. This may take awhile but they will have the time since only one or two young judges could give them control of the Supreme Court for decades. Obama could then blame it on someone else, like he does everything else. Want a gun? Buy it now, or better, buy several.

I’ll bet you a brick of .22 LR that the NRA has already done that, or is doing that right now. If he is not a life member, or is recently a life member, expect the NRA to make sure that the s**t hits the rotating blades.

NRA is Expanding Anti-Obama Ad Campaign

I should also mention American Hunters and Shooters Association, which is a FALSE FLAG group that is running radio ads supporting 0bama. (follow the link for a podcast.)

Holy shit, that liveleak vid was awesome, Mac was kicking his ass across the yard. Whoa, who replaced McCain with an Attack Cyborg™?

Bishop on October 6, 2008 at 5:36 PM

I’ve never owned a gun in my life, but the first thing I’m going to do if Obama gets elected is to buy one.

NoDonkey on October 6, 2008 at 3:49 PM

Me too. Actually, I’m thinking I’d better do it before inauguration day. And I’m actually for some gun control. Great job by the politician of change pushing some of us further to the right.

Browncoatone and Bishop: Alaska’s growing season is too short. Think year round water, location away from major population centers, long growing season and good soil. Alaska is great for all but the growing season and the logistics of getting resupplied.

Barntender on October 6, 2008 at 4:45 PM

Texas people….we can ally ourselves with Alaska….

Gun confiscation?
The government can’t/won’t do anything about 20 million, unarmed illegal aliens in this country.
Do ya’ll really think the government can take guns from 40 million, legally armed, pi**ed-off citizens?

Nonsequitur on October 6, 2008 at 5:47 PM

What kind of accent did that guy in the Obama ad have? Sounded like a furriner to me

Buford Gooch on October 6, 2008 at 5:56 PM

Honestly considering the same.

just had to share.

Can we check Greg West’s membership in the NRA? If he is a life member, then he needs to have his membership revoked and an IQ test administered. I’m a member of the NRA and I can’t believe that a supposed NRA life member would support this Marxist. Maybe his life membership was a gift.

Joyce Foundation needs to be front and center for the NRA. Educate the public ASAP.

Kevin in Washington State on October 6, 2008 at 3:50 PM

The NRA spends a lot of money educating the public. Unfortunately, there are still those out there who don’t see the constitutional right to bear arms as pertaining to today’s firearms. My husband and I are well armed and intend to stay that way…no matter what. We are both lifetime members of the NRA. “From my cold dead hands.”

Glynn on October 6, 2008 at 6:10 PM

He is a Fudd. That NRA member or any that votes for Barry should have his membership revoked and get a stern talking to from the Nuge.

Nonsequitur on October 6, 2008 at 5:47 PM

Yes, I do. Those 40 million pissed off citizens will go the same way the Aussies did if the penalties are strong enough for noncompliance. Sure, there would be some skirmishes along the way but armed citizens are no match for paramilitary law enforcement if it comes to that. The grabbers wouldn’t just rush into it headlong. It would be well planned out, legal(by their definition), and much better organized than any armed resistance movement. Wish it weren’t so, but history tells me otherwise.

I don’t think you will have to move to Texas if the Obama marxist/socialist/liberal POSs win. Remember, about 31 states are red and 19 are blue. That may change a little, but the red states are very red and the blue states are sorta baby blue. Just stand pat and maybe the blue states will go away. Remember, it won’t take much to let those blue state bastards starve and freeze in the dark.

As for handy arms, I won’t go into what I have, but in my family is the owner of a semi-automatic 12 gauge shotgun shooting #2 or #3 buckshot (not birdshot). That is like sending 16- .30 caliber projos downrange at a time as fast as your finger can squeeze the trigger. And those da libs are worried about semi-automatic rifles! I have also found that wadcutters in a Blackhawk 357 revolver do awesome work.

To NoDonkey, Count to 10, and anyone else thinking along the same lines, don’t wait. The prices between Nov 4 and Jan 20 may go through the roof.

As for disarming 40 million of us(there are actually more than 80 million of us), there are enough of us who, like me, will not comply with or stand for a confiscation of any kind. The confiscators will have to be willing to kill and accept the risk of being killed themselves to get any of mine.

Look at your rights and freedoms as what would be required to survive and be free as if there were no government. Governments come and go, but your rights live on. If you wish to survive government, you must protect with jealous resolve all the powers that come with your rights – especially with the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Without the power of those arms, you will perish with that government – or at its hand.

I watched it twice because I figured there had to be some transition between second amendment rights and outsourcing jobs that I was just missing. What a bizarre ad.

Quisp on October 6, 2008 at 3:54 PM

I was thinking the same thing…also, Obama is running the same sort of ad on the radio, with some guy who used to play pro football and now runs some sort of shooter’s group. Once again, the abrupt shift from guns to outsourcing jobs. Weird.
