Video: Palin introduced by president of LA chapter of … NOW?

Ace was there, as were 15-20,000 other people. The highlight? The ‘Cuda quoting Madeleine Albright off the back of a Starbucks coffee cup as saying, “There’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.” Or almost quoting: A photo of the cup at HuffPo shows the operative word is “help,” not “support.” Whatevs. She aimed for the center of the identity politics bullseye and hit the innermost ring instead. This one’s for you, Heather MacDonald!

Hmmm, if the President of the LA Chapter of NOW, life long Democrat, likes her then maybe I need to rethink my support :-)

johnsteele on October 5, 2008 at 11:27 AM

It’s Okay, now Palin’s a racist, so nothing she says matters. The AP says so, so it’s true.

I was wondering how long this would take. Talk about a dubious concocted connection. It’s gonna be a crazy month.

toddsts on October 5, 2008 at 11:28 AM

Superstar. This was a nice introduction, is nice to see an authentic person in NOW. This election cycle has been good for Republicans’ image, not just showcasing powerful women in the party, but also it’s history of civil rights such as with Mitt’s dad work.

Spirit of 1776 on October 5, 2008 at 11:29 AM

WOW.. I thought it might be Tammy Bruce, the former President of LA NOW. This lady may go the same way as Tammy
and I hope she does. Good for her!! What she did takes courage. The long knives of the feminazis will be reaching out. Tammy Bruce can tell you all about that.

RobCon on October 5, 2008 at 11:30 AM

Even with “global warming,” Hell has frozen over.

RBMN on October 5, 2008 at 11:30 AM

Meh. NOW supports Palin because she’s a woman. They would have got behind Hillary had she won the Dem nomination for the same reason. I’m happy to have any support we can get though.

Guardian on October 5, 2008 at 11:31 AM

I wonder what Tammy Bruce’s take on this is. I’ll have to head over to her site to see.

MAJOR PROPS to this woman from NOW for realizing that transcending partisanship on some issues is the true path to progress and greatness. Anybody who cannot see that Palin represents the absolute pinnacle of healthy and dignified womanhood has lost their way.

And how awesome is it to have “Thunderstruck” playing during that?

That’s the kind of impact that this campaign should be focusing on. It was electric.

Go SarahCuda!

Since most Barry supporters are only supporting him because he is biracial, it is fair for women to support Gov Palin because she is female (and more qualified than either Obama or Joe Hezbollah is out of Lebanon Biden.

eaglewingz08 on October 5, 2008 at 11:35 AM

We know how these women’s rights groups treat those that disagree. This women was truly brave. Bet she won’t have that position this time next year.

Jamson64 on October 5, 2008 at 11:35 AM

Interestingly this ties into the recent OJ verdict. It was the OJ verdict of 1995 that got Tammy Bruce kicked out of of LA NOW becasue she called him a murdered and wife beater and was called a racist for it. Will the same happen to this lady? We need to support Mandel.

RobCon on October 5, 2008 at 11:35 AM

This is all great, but why are they in CA but giving up on Michigan?

This woman made it clear that she is personally supporting Palin, not representing NOW.

No, it’s a case of giving an individual credit for getting it right. She’s there as a woman and an American, not as NOW.

repvoter on October 5, 2008 at 11:41 AM

Hey, did anybody catch Rush’s show last Friday, after the debate, and hear what the kid from the University of Wisconsin had to say about the crowd watching the debate?

It was an eye opener.

Here is the transcript

RUSH: …you’re telling me that in the heart of liberalism in Wisconsin, Madison –

CALLER: Yep. They’re completely losing their love. I mean, they used to love him here.

And the liberal girls seemed to be quite taken with what a feminist sounds like:

RUSH: Why all of a sudden? In their gut they didn’t like her; now they like her? A typical liberal would hate her even more.

CALLER: Oh, but she can talk to them, and there were some girls around me that even said that. They said, “Wow, I mean she’s a great speaker. I really like her.” I mean those are their exact words. Even though — I mean, in my opinion — half the people here are mindless. They don’t know why they like Obama. So when they hear things they do like, they don’t understand why they’re supposed to be disagreeing with her. Do you know what I mean?

Saltysam on October 5, 2008 at 11:42 AM

trailortrash on October 5, 2008 at 11:43 AM

Why CA and not here in MI?? SEND US SARAH!!! And get to local victory center and volunteer!!

Bullhead on October 5, 2008 at 11:44 AM

McCain and Palin must win. The thought of Obama as President sends shivers down my spine. I stroongly believe that people who support Obama do so blindly and do so only because of the regurgitated garbage that has come out of the mouths of the main stream media and other Obama supporters.

mindhacker on October 5, 2008 at 11:46 AM

This is all great, but why are they in CA but giving up on Michigan?

jgapinoy on October 5, 2008 at 11:36 AM

I believe she said she was not representing her organization, but WAS endorsing Sarah Palin as an “individual”. This is the diversity we, (the McCain camp) are looking for—-putting political difference aside and voting for a ticket that will SHAKE UP WASHINGTON. They should play this video in every battleground state!

Tammy Bruce’s radio show last night was amazing. I tried to find an archived copy, but I couldn’t.

She said that CA is either the top or the second highest financial support for McCain/Palin campaign. You want Sarah to come to MI? start fundraising. start working. get out there and do stuff … if you are successful the campaign will notice.

The PUMAS are a lot more motivated, and a lot more positive about McCain/Palin than 90% of the people who comment here at hotair.

Hell, Bill Clinton is a lot more positive, and a lot more willing to put his ass on the line for McCain/Palin than 90% of the people here.

This is a brave public stand by this woman, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the PUMA movement and high profile announcements like the one from Lynn Forrester de Rothschild and Greta Van Susteren’s husband.

The NOW lady made it clear that she was not there to represent NOW, but herself. She was warmly received by the audience. It really shows that our side is the true big tent. We don’t demand the sort of ideological conformity they do (at least, not to the degree they do).

I was lucky enough to be in the front rows near the podium. It really was a rock concert atmosphere when she got out on stage. She needs to take this to all the important states.

Racially tinged my arse.

Nearly every major issue we face domestically is tainted by phony racist allegations. I know this is a cliche, but people need to wake up.

We can’t practice responsible lending because of race.
We can’t criticize a candidate because of race.
We can’t ID voters because of race.

You know, if Obama keeps allowing his surrogates in the media to continue propagating the racist meme, and predicting riots in our cities and whatnot..depending on whether or not he is elected…the result could be a self-fulfilling prophecy. If that happens and there are ugly things happening in our cities after the election, every single bit of the responsibility should rightfully be laid squarely at his feet.

It’s amazing what some people will do to get what they want. I bet he sleeps like a babe in arms at night.

Has anyone seen any MSM coverage of Palin’s campaign stops that talk about/show the size of her audiences? Have any played more than the tiniest snippets of her speeches, as they routinely do for Osama Obama?

Interesting quote in the article:

The New York Times article, an investigation published Friday into whether Obama had a relationship with Ayers, concluded that the men were never close and that Obama has denounced Ayers’ radical past, which occurred when Obama was a child. The article also said Obama “has played down his contacts with” Ayers.

Curious minds want to know what “never close” means to an LA or NYT’s journalist.

How did Ayers Make Obama Chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge?
I can easily understand why some readers may have become confused by the explosion of stories today on the Obama/Ayers relationship.

The partial story told by the New York Times today is collapsing of its own weight but has likely added to the confusion. Since I am one of the “bloggers” referred to without an explanation in the Times’ story I thought I would summarize the top ten highlights of the current state of play. These ten key points confirm what I have argued all along – that Bill Ayers was responsible for the elevation of Obama to the Chicago Annenberg Challenge board.

This guy has done more and better work on this story than Stanley Kurtz, and he’s a liberal law prof and organized labor supporter/expert.

No wonder the NY Times worked so hard to obfuscate his findings.

Did anyone happen to see how many WOMEN were at the rally?

NOW is about to turn in on itself for a little self awareness.

Sam, that’s a point worth thinking about.

I’m hoping it isn’t too much to hope that “minorities” of all stripes will start to see that they aren’t slaves any more, and they really can leave the plantation, shaking the dust from their sandals as they go. The right isn’t the left’s stereotypes of conservatism, and there’s room in the tent for everyone.

page A13.

Is that the middle-ish of the A-section? In the Sacramento Bee it’d be the end, but it’s a smaller paper.

At least….it used to be a smaller paper. :)

And it’s not on the front page of the SacBee website, not even on the pull-down menu for politicis, CA or National. A bit of a search doesn’t find it at all, even on the blogs.

I am a temporary guest of the fine state of Louisiana thanks to the loving graces of the DoD….

The women here are on fire for Palin and it is from about age 25 up….

that’s bad news for THE ONE since the 9th district has lost a big chunk of numbers….Louisiana women back Palin and Mary Landrieu so I guess we can’t win ‘em all.

The Bee has for years had some of the finest sports editors and writers in the business. The rest of the paper has been nothing but liberal garbage pale liner.

The Brady factor.

The Hillary factor.

John McCain can be down 5 points in the polls on Nov 4th and still win.

This is what a unifier can do…

I guess it’s because I’m a guy, but I don’t understand why so many women hate Palin. If I see a man who rises from a blue-collar, middle class background to achieve enormous success, I would laud his success and be proud of him! It seems that many liberal females do not hold the same grasp on reality as they bash and hate on a successful woman.

Maybe that’s it–assuming liberals live in this world.

Michelle Obama is not very proud of this.
