Video: Former Obama adviser on invading Israel

Samantha Power left the Barack Obama campaign in March of this year, after a somewhat overblown kerfuffle over her reference to Hillary Clinton as a “monster”. Power advised Obama on foreign policy, having spent her career detailing genocides and international responses to them, including a Pulitzer Prize-winning book on the subject. Power had some interesting ideas about how to resolve one particular instance of what she sees as a genocide in this April 2002 interview at Berkeley with Harry Kreisler:
This should give us some insight into the foreign-policy objectives of Barack Obama, who had Power as an adviser from 2005 until the “monster” comment in March of this year. He didn’t bounce her from his team over her views on Israel and … well, let’s recall how she described the pro-Israel lobby:
Putting something on the line might mean alienating a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import.
For those who may not catch the reference, Power means the Joooooos. And why would that alienate the Jewishcabalthatsecretlyrunseverything? For one thing, Power wants to spend billions on bolstering Palestinian military strength, instead of spending it on helping the Israelis to defend themselves. Bear in mind that this interview takes place about seven months after 9/11, when people supposedly still knew how dangerous radical Islamist groups like Hamas and al-Qaeda were. Power wanted to send them money and stop funding Israeli efforts to fight them.
Even more ridiculously, Power’s ultimate aim is to send a massive American or Western force into Israel to stop what Power apparently sees as an Israeli genocide against the Palestinians. She specifically states that the force has to be “massive”, not like a Srebrenica- or Bosnia-sized force. Why would it need to be so large? In order to neutralize the Israeli Defense Force, and protect the forces of Fatah and Hamas.
Had Barack Obama kicked her off of his advisory panel (rumored to number 300) after making remarks like this, it could have assuaged fears about his intentions towards Israel. Instead, he invited Power to advise him after making these remarks. She resigned only after calling Hillary a monster and after insinuating that Obama may not retreat from Iraq in 16 months if the ground situation changed — which Obama later adopted as his own position after the primaries.
This is the same Barack Obama who served in a board that gave a $75,000 grant to Rashid Khalidi, Yasser Arafat’s toady in the PLO. This is the same Barack Obama who had Robert Malley as another of his advisers on the region — and who conducted meetings with Hamas. Obama’s church used its bulletins to give voice to Palestinian activists. How much more clear can this get?

I wonder if, this late into the game, something like this would resonate outside the Jewish community.

So all Bush had to do to win fringe-geek leftie support for the Iraq War was to frame it as a protection of the Kurds or marsh Arabs who were under threat of genocide from Saddam? Dubya, you missed your chance.

She can’t possibly be serious.

Settle down now…. they are just trying out a few “thought experiments”… maybe, with enough practice, they may work their way around to real thought.

Power has said she will be back in an Obama administration once the election is over.
Power would be on the NSA or working in the state department.
Power was the closest advisor to Obama for years and said to be his soulmate as an advisor and on foreign policy.
Power and Obama will always be bashing Israel for human rights abuses.
God help Israel if she is in a conflict with hezbollah, syria or iran during an Obama administration. Obama is an enemy of Israel.
ryandan on October 5, 2008 at 12:38 PM
The left (yes, broad strokes here) is completely wedded to this notion that any problem in the world is a result of the failure of the West – specifically the US and/or Israel – to reach out to the other side, to assuage their fears and concerns.
This is the mindset of Obama when he says that he will meet with the leaders of the various enemies of the US unconditionally. That is because he views the problems as largely emanating from the failure of the US to offer the right incentives, to say the right words, to make the right initiative, to these adversaries that will end the hostilities. Because, at bottom the problem is with us. Or more accurately, the “neocons” or rightwingers or whatever group is dominating our policies.
The Palestinians (the ones that matter) do not want peace with Israel. Until they do, no amount of carrots and incentives will dissuade them otherwise.

If not, why not?
If so, have they begun to get the word out to Morty and Helen Seinfeld, Jack (”take the pen”) Klompas, and their friends at Boca del Vista Phase II? They may not surf the net, so can McCain’s campaign print some fliers and have them distributed to all the local eateries in time for the early bird specials during the coming week?

Right now this is just a lot of noise in a very noisy campaign season. Obviously this woman already been thrown under the bus so Obama can claim no association with her. The huge question is: How does Obama’s bubble get pierced in the next four weeks? Every time some horrific association comes to light that person is gone and then that’s the end of the controversy.
A million blogs can point these things out but none of it, NONE of it is getting through to the vast numbers who are supporting Obama or independents that might consider alternatives.

it’s not just obama’s advisors (Power and Brzezinski et al) who are anti-israel; it’s his entire network of close friends over the last two decades – they’re all antisemites and antizionists.
wright, khalidi, sayeed, rezko, etc.
the people obama associated with when no one was looking tells us more than anything else about who he really is and how he would govern.

This ‘woman’ is a freak. She’s right about HRC being a monster, but that’s an example of projection. She’s dead wrong on Israel, making her comment on BJ’s ‘wife’ irrelevant.
The other connections Ed made better make the light of day…I recall Hannity saying something about how he was going to bring up connections to radical Islam. I wish there was time in an ad to educate people as to WHO is doing the genocide and who is doing the defense. It seems a simple task, but the “liberal democracy” Powers spoke of is resistant to facts.
Let’s get Jackie Mason on this too, we need all the help we can get.

Why? They HAVE this vote. To let some blog dictate their campaign would be incredibly stupid. They have access to their internal polling (you know… that polling that is accurate as opposed to what we get fed). They are going after ADDING votes, not appeasing votes they have. They are trying to win the election, not tomorrow’s Gallup Daily Tracking Poll. Palin tosses out red meat for us frequently… McCain tosses out a little now and then. I am sure they watch ALL the blogs. Let me see if I can find someone that let their campaign be run by a blog…. Who was the guy that Lieberman beat in the general? I can’t even remember his name.
That said, anyone here that has run a winning presidential campaign is free to correct me.

In the political context, I guess even a radical pro-Palestinian atheist qualifies as a Jew, as long as they have Jewish grandparents somewhere that they may or may not remember. They should know the difference between a Bar Mitzvah and a Bat Mitzvah, but if they’re liberal enough, doesn’t matter. It’s a pretty low bar.

To use the big items too early gives too much time for the Obama campaign (which includes the media) to respond and deflect it. Using those things at the appropriate time so they can influence the only poll that really counts is the way to do it. I don’t think the guy they brought in that worked with Rove (Steve ?????) is an 8th grader. I think they have a far better feel for the votes they are seeking than we do. Again, focusing on appeasing HA is NOT the way to win the election.

Let’s get it straight in our collective heads. John McCain’s best friends in politics are MOSTLY democrats and RINOs. Joe Lieberman, William Cohen, Lindsay Graham (yes, essentially), Ted (the lion of the Senate-puke!) Kennedy, Joe Biden, etc. He came a hair’s breath away from picking Loserman for veep. Wakeup call, anyone? If McC and Obama were in the Senate together longer, he’d be buds with Obama, no question, because he craves libtard credentials with the same media he courted for years and who continue to push the shiv deeper everyday. One thing I will say for McCain, he’s so tough he doesn’t even know when he’s being tortured anymore (or is that so stupid?)
Who are McCain’s advisors? Hmmm, let’s see. Juan Hernandez, a major voice against protecting America’s borders; spokesdemagogues from La Raza, a racist hispanic group, etc. Yes, there’s lot’s more. McCain’s top media manager, Mark McKinnon, back in Jan/Feb of ‘08 said he would work for McCain only to a point and then vote for Obama. Does McCain look like a person surrounded by true Conservatives? Is there a Michelle Malkin or a Thomas Sowell on his team anywhere?
So let’s get it straight. McCain is a liberal on all but defense issues, and even there, when it comes to Guantanamo, torture and other high profile p.c. issues, he’s often a pussy. To answer your question about his campaign monitoring this blog, the answer is, yes, but only if Hotair gets mentioned in Huffpoop.

They monitor Ed.
They started a long time ago at Captain’s Quarters. While I don’t have “court ready evidence” what I have over the last several years is substantial anecdotal evidence. Certain phases, sentences lifted from Ed or the comment section showing up on TV, in editorial pages or by columnists.
So they read this stuff. Fox news definitely does. McCain hears us. In fact I would go so far to suggest that recent changes in strategy has come from the likes of this blog and others. (or we are all stuck in Plato’s world of ideas and we all “get” it at the same time)
Next tip, Palin has to move on to the next dirtball that Obama has hung with, the list is long. Another rally or two with Ayers and then on to someone else….McCain must never apologize for any Palin statements. He can simply say she is speaking her mind.

I don’t know whether to be happy in his pain on Barry beating him at the McCain/Feingold game more than I am scared Barry will win using the tools John set up. Ok, lets look at this.
She wants to put a “Massive” force into Israel. Just how massive are we talking about?
Assume the Obama Administration tells Israel that we are doing with this twit advises. Israel tells Obama and company to go pound sand. What will it take if we face a resisted invasion of Israel and would would the cost be?
To start with,
Half our carrier battlegroups. (6 carriers with their air wings)
The entire USMC with their landing ships.
The 82nd Airborne
2 armored divisions in ships that have been combat loaded.
(Prepared for rapid deploment rather then maximizing capacity)
150,000+ ground troops.
The entire heavy bomber force.
Anticipated loses?
At least 2 carriers and several dozen support ships.
2-400 aircraft.
Infantry casualties rivaling those of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
(20-50K dead)
Probable use of nuclear weapons by the Israelis on the invasion force.
Certain attacks against US political leaders by the Mossad.
Up to and including a possible commando style attack against the White House. Assassinations of political leadership in the house and senate and no doubt this twit would be at the top of the hit list.
It’s pretty obvious that Dimbulb has no idea just how tough the IDF is. It would be the first time the U.S. went up against a well trained and equiped army since Korea and possibly WW2. There is every chance we would lose.
I suspect that if the military would flat out refuse the order to the point of mutiny if these boneheads tried something like this.
The only problem? Obama is a bonehead and surrounds himself with idiots like this. He just might try to do something like this.

My hobby for the last two months has been Judaism, and I’ve gone to various synagogues for Shabbat (mostly Saturday morning, but some Friday evening) and the High Holy Days. The Orthodox Jews are somewhat getting the political picture, but you’ll still find many Obama voters. The Reformed Jews are in delusion land, and it’s strange because they have the Israeli flag at their services. My approach in talking politics to Obama Jews is to turn the conversation towards Iran and see if concerns about Israel’s safety won’t turn them more towards McCain. There is still a lot of paranoia about Christianity among Jews, and the pick of Sarah Palin stroked those fears.
For the next two weekends, I plan to go to two different Conservative synagogues, I’m hoping they are intermediate between the Reformed and Orthodox politically, but my fear is that they are much closer to the Reformed. The Conservative congregations’ websites seem even more PC than the Reformed.

yeah I just made that up but I bet you ten bucks you could put up a sign saying that on most college campuses and you’d get a ton of high fives. Or are high fives considered racist and/or misogynistic now? Both? I bet.
Then again, I don’t even have ten bucks and if I did, I’d be buying food to stock up for the upcoming descent of the United States of America into Obama’s dream of “third world crapheap (but Europe is now better than us! We win!).”

What Genocide issue is there in Israel? There is not an ethnicity called “palestinian” at all. Palestine was a region where Arabs lived. Like the South or North East in the USA.
And there already is billions “invested” into “Palestine.” The problem is that the leaders squander the aid money and already dump it into a “protection” force instead of state-building (like infrastructure, health care or any basic needs.
Idiot.

Obama loves those Jews who are naive enough to give him money.
Until he has the power to turn on them.
And their Gutter Religion.
Farrakhan pal.

“Well, isn’t this just special? She backs extreme U.S. military intervention to force Israel to share with regimes that want to wipe them off the face of the map.
I’m guessing that she does NOT support U.S. intervention in Iraq.
Friends don’t let (Jewish) friends vote Obama!!

Brit Hume and Carl Rove says McCain should go whole hog at Oslime-a on everything. Even if it means going back on his statement that the Wright issue is off limits.

Any Jew dumb enough to vote for Obama deserves to have him as their president.
Yep. Obama loves Jews the same way he loves white Americans: they’re just the useful tools he’s using to achieve his ambition to rule over them.

Accusing Israel of “genocide” is a standard calumny of its Arab enemies, they do it all the time on CNN and the BBC, notwithstanding the fact that the Palestinian people keep growing in numbers at a rapid pace. So it’s nonsense, but they like to hear the sound of the word as a way of demonizing Jews in general. This woman is pretty clever in that she doesn’t work the work to death but trots out Rwanda as if the Americans don’t arm the local Arab government, which officially now is Hamas, to the teeth presumably with tanks and fighter planes and heavy artillery, then they will be next Rwanda. The woman is bonkers, in a dangerous way, like Ayers and Wright and everyone surrounding this guy Obama. Harold Lasswell used to talk about the psychopathology of politics, and here it comes, the White House is going to be a Nut House.

The left is already prepping its minions on the upcoming “character assassination” plot of Team McCain. Since when has pointing out actual relationships and facts as Character Assassination? More like Character DEFINITION.

AIPAC is not Jews. AIPAC is Isreal. If it were a Chinese American group with a track record of espionage like AIPAC you wouldn’t be writing about this like it is a problem. You would be cheering the comment.
