Video: The obligatory “Obama Youth” fraternity

I’ve been flooded with e-mails to start a thread on the video of the so-called Obama Youth fraternity, and never let it be said that I kept Hot Air readers from a forum that will undoubtedly pile up hundreds of comments. I don’t consider this anywhere near as egregious as Sing for Change, but your mileage may vary:
There is some difference between having 5-12 year olds singing about Barack Obama and this group, which appears old enough to start forming their own opinions on politics. The quasi-military marching disturbs some, but as Jonah Goldberg notes, there is a tradition of this in black fraternities. The mindless chant of Barack Obama’s health-care slogans are less disturbing than comical, at least to me.
The Sing for Change video was clearly more of an exploitation of children for political indoctrination on behalf of the parents involved. The health-care cadence at least discussed policy specifics in the midst of the hero worship. The Sing for Change video makes Obama a demi-god to whom children should sing hosannas, and is much more creepy.

This is just a takeoff on the video that came out when Allahpundit joined Hotair – ala the Oprah skit from SNL in which she was carried around on stage while people chanted her name…
Just kidding.

…well, weather’s fine down here…send me advance plans and we’ll see what can be done….
…this whole “we’re disappointed by the election” sword cuts both ways….

Obama’s gonna break the chains, man. Er, something like that, I suppose. Sad.

Yes, but if you resist their “need” to “borrow” your belongings, and conscript your children into their corps, you will be the one going off to prison.

We’ll rally in Texas….take your guns, your gold, and God and Texas will be fine.

You’re really into this “rally in Texas” thing, huh? I believe you need to find a hobby or something. Dude, you sound like a broken record.
hillbillyjim on October 4, 2008 at 4:40 PM
Not at all.
If all Barry is is Jimmy Carter jr. we have a duty to endure him.
If he is Mgabe jr. and violates his oaths we have a duty to destroy his Presidency.
In the event two becomes impossible if enough if us move south we can start over and see just how big a peacenik he really is.

Would any person of reasonable intelligence and situational-awarness determine that this might be the time to excercise their 2nd Amendment rights and acquire possible future necessities?
If you haven’t done it, DO IT!

Take some meds or something. If he wins he is democratically elected and OUR president. And don’t start on the tainted vote thing unless you are prepared to say Bush did the same.

How about “Fight the Poundage”?
PattyJ on October 4, 2008 at 4:45 PM
I’m not alone. What will protect people will be a state or ten that are solidly and inarguably against the socialist programs. Enough of us go to Texas if it is obvious the bottom is falling out where O’bama holds sway the day will come we attract business and refugees from “worker’s paradise”.
I am not some crazy zealot I just gave Palin another 200 bucks as a tip for banging Biden. At the end of the day I am just following FEMA’s advice and my Boy Scout training….”be prepared”. If it ever gets as ugly as Barry’s followers like the Barack Youth Choir and these fine frat boys seem to want ot to be my first duty is to secure my family.
I’ve lied in Texas and know they won’t go quietly into the night of socialist darkness.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 4:46 PM
Who said anything about “tainted vote” but the deal is that Barry is in office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and protect our interests. If he is more involved with the Barack Youth movement and destroying the free market while stifling dissent with “Obama Truth Squads” like Missouri I am not going to meekly shrug and say “yeah 200+ years of the bill of rights was ok but I back Barry”.
“Not my president” was the donk mantra the last eight years….payback will be a blast.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 4:48 PM
“I’ve lived in California and know they won’t go quietly into the night of a fascist government in bed with Halliburton..”

Show me the Haliburton Youth singers and the Alpha-Omega Economics Department Fraternity and we’ll talk otherwise it is just specious moral equivalency a fun game in modern America….
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 4:50 PM
We’ve survived worse than Obama in our 232 years. I believe our Constitution will weather this storm if
Alpha OmegaAlmighty Obama is elected, albeit with some major damage to our nation.hillbillyjim on October 4, 2008 at 4:52 PM
For the adults in the thread this video was disturbing on some level. But there is nothing to indicate this is some sort of Obama mandated movement or desire. For those old enough to remember there was a bit of that when Jesse Jackson ran with the “I am Somebody” chants.
Perspective is a wonderful thing.
And even if (shudder) McCain loses and an Obama presidency causes black youth to take responsibility and control of their circumstances is that such a bad thing?
For the Svens of the world I can only hope in an alternate universe they are sent to reeducation camps run by Whoopi Goldberg.
Bradky on October 4, 2008 at 4:53 PM
People ARE buying up ammo and guns….try to find .38 wadcutters at a gunshop or double aught or birdshot.
It is approaching hunting season but .38 WCs are not a hunting round. People were in the gun shop talking about “the coming depression and riots”. I don’t talk that way because I am fairly certain it will not come to that…I believe in America but situational awareness and caution require you prepare for the possibility that Mr. “8-10 years of my Presidency” may be hiding in plain sight so to speak.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 4:53 PM
If by “responsibility” you mean gold painted steel toed boots as truncheons I agree….black militants get gapped a lot of space for “well it is their way of tuning into responsible humans”…
um “yeah”.
As to the latter part of your pap….”whatever”. I vote I am not hoarding food and I told people the “economic crisis” is overhyped and try to calm folks in real life. The thing is I am not going to pretend here that the Barack Youth Choir, the Truth Squads of LE and DAs in MO, the Alpha-Omega types son’t spark concern.
A rally point is elementary tactics.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 4:56 PM
It looks like they were getting their “thug thizzle” on. Did I hear one of them say his name was Doodad Pro?
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 4, 2008 at 5:00 PM
Have we?
I mean yes we had the ACW, but the only person approaching anything like the Messianic bent of Barry was FDR. FDR enacted things that sent men to jail for ironing shirts too cheaply. His agribusiness policies inspired the “Grapes of Wrath”. The New Deal took an event that historically would have been a 6-24 month event and turned it into a decade long lifestyle.
Lawlessness was pretty bad in that era as well, it saw the rise of corporatized Organized Crime getting its hooks into the business of industry as well.
I am not being too alarmist just seeing the trees in the forest.
I perosnally think a lot if not 95% of this nouse and idiocy is not from “The ONE” but even given all that the fact he never asks them to “tone it down” alarms me….
add in his campaign art and poses he makes me nervous and it ain’t because he doesn’t look like the guys on the dollar bills either…..
he looks like Benito Il Duce with a tan and big ears.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 5:00 PM
Yeah the Ohio SC saved the early Republican votes but also codified the Gopherization of our same day voting. I am from Ohio they are hellbent on a “payback” vibe for having lost power in the wake of Dick Celeste’s fall from grace. I am going home to vote in person so I can see the comedy firsthand.

Gee thanks Dad….
I like the legos and the special trays….
Gee I’ll take that to Heart Michelle….
How should the world be Michelle you and Barry have yet to define “change”?
How about when Barry offers me advice on “Americans can’t eat as much as they want or have their house temperature what they want and not expect anger?” routine in oregon???
Sorry but for a guy with the gravitas of toilet paper and only half the utility he sure does ssay some peculiar things.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 5:16 PM
I’m with you, but I want Sven there just in case.
DarkCurrent on October 4, 2008 at 5:19 PM
sven,
You should point out that your last highlighted sentence from Aunt Esther’s quote is directly out of Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals“. She’s in it neck-deep as Teh One is.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 4, 2008 at 5:22 PM
I agree…..hell were the polls dead even I’d be laughing my ass off instead of buying land in Texas. The thing is Brad from KY thinks I am some guy in mom’s bunker….nope I am at the ton I live in laughing my ass off at some scary things. I’d be laughing even harder if it did not look like the incestuous relationship between the DNC and Media will propel this to victory.
Being prepared to use your vote and wealth to secure a better future for your kid is not paranoia it is good parenting.
It is putting money and work towards what the Barack Youth Choir’s parents think they accomplished with a vidcam.
My son will not be a “mandatory volunteer”.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 5:22 PM
Which one of you gets to play General, Colonel and Private?
Bradky on October 4, 2008 at 5:23 PM
Yeah I was laying a rhetorical trap.
The one thing I respect about Barry is he is not exactly a liar…..who and what he is is there if you just look.
The noise and confusion about Barry is only his fault in and of that he allows the press to run interference for him.
The media is to blame not the guy who takes the bonus….if McCain were getting the passes I’d be just as angry.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 5:24 PM
Scratch a liberal and fascist pus oozes out…every time.
ManlyRash on October 4, 2008 at 5:24 PM
I was lower enlisted once, now I work and take care of my soldier’s family. In Texas I want a simple 8-12 acre ranch. Yeah I am REALLY spooky guy.
I juust wnat to be left alone not impressed by Aunt Esther into a spiritual/economo revival movement…..
your mileage likely varies….
if Barry’s vision starts developing a body count is when things like I pointed out matter…
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 5:26 PM
If your cooking is anything ike your rhetoric, one would do well to steer clear of your table. Salmonella can be deadly.
ManlyRash on October 4, 2008 at 5:27 PM
And it’s stealth sniping such as yours that makes liberals proud.
ManlyRash on October 4, 2008 at 5:29 PM
You follow me around like a lost puppy. I’m not interested in being your mentor.
Bradky on October 4, 2008 at 5:30 PM
I hate to say this but if all the kids were white and saying the same thing except using John McCain nane. What would the drive by media be saying right now????
thmcbb on October 4, 2008 at 5:30 PM
I don’t consider myself a liberal. If being unable to defend one’s position means the challenger is a “stealth sniper” so be it.

I don’t really know. Their are leaders and their are followers. Everyone has a unique set of talents. We all believe that we are endowed by our Creator. We answer your question later and show everyone what real community organizing looks like.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 4, 2008 at 5:32 PM
then why say it?
Bradky on October 4, 2008 at 5:33 PM
Nah he serves a purpose he made me define what my intentions are for clarity. I don’t look like the tool he does. What do you think he’d have said about the Commitees of Correspondence? Fact is it is important to remind folks of a few things.
1) sometimes we lose and if we do and Barry respects his oath of office and governs within the bill of rights our duty is to endure his pap.
2) sometimes Presidents get creative with interpreting the BoR and folks die….Bill Clinton got a big pass for Waco. No more Wacos and no more made for TV cowboy raids by USG agencies hot for good PR.
Koresh should have been arrested on his jog.
3) our government is not a suicide pact if Barry goes hell bent for leather on wrecking our Republic beyond the powers of his office in my opinion we have a duty to resist at least as much as the moonbats “resisted chimpy”.
Remember we’re all in this together.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 5:33 PM
because it points out the very entrenched concept of blacks wanting “euqlaity+” not “equality in some very big areas of their electoral body IMHO.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 5:34 PM
I wouldn’t recommend you being the community spelling bee organizer in your texas village. There are spellers and there are students.
Bradky on October 4, 2008 at 5:35 PM
BTW…I defended my position. The GOP left conservatives years ago. The only reason that I vote for the GOP is that they are not shredding the Constitution as fast (actually, some members still respect/follow it) as the liberals would.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 4, 2008 at 5:35 PM
I like my general’s in the rear, so Sven’s General, Hillbilly Colonel, I’ll be Private (and discreet if the tip’s good)
DarkCurrent on October 4, 2008 at 5:39 PM
Every person that calls themself a conservative has their own unique definition. I’d bet our philosophies are remarkably similar. The problem with this approach is that one person’s conservative is another person’s RINO. But if it makes you feel better to say that “I’m not in the GOP even though I only vote Republican” well have at it.

Bradky on October 4, 2008 at 5:40 PM
To point out the double standard. Diversity has driven us (further) apart as a people. If this were a Christian organization or even a secular organization and the kids were saying, “Because of Jesus…” or “Because of America…”, I would not have a problem with it. They are putting their faith into a mortal being instead of believing in themselves. Mortal beings can and do fail. What happens you find at your hero is a fraud?
You cannot fail when you have faith in a higher power and/or faith and confidence in yourself.
Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 4, 2008 at 5:41 PM

Go ahead I dogpiled Barney Frank for his “Fannie Packer from Fannie Mae”….your slamming me does not register because you are content with an unconstitutional slide into totalitarianism potnetially. No offense but it renders your barbs pointless.
I am not some slack-jawed white power fool and I am not a “tax truth resister” I am a guy who looks at a bunch of people treating Barry like a combination of Jesus and Santa Claud and am worried.
In saying “rally in Texas” I am hoping for strength in numbers….I don’t think that is silly.
If need be Texas can leave the union if it comes to that but it is not even my third recourse.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 5:44 PM
No you don’t get it. I may have fun with needling people that make these kind of sweeping statements but it bothers the heck out of me that these opinions hurt the GOP at large. Just as much as the truthers hurt the Dems until 2006. The 2004 house results went against historical trends partly due to the loony ramblings effect on public opinion.
Bradky on October 4, 2008 at 5:45 PM
Ok, let’s hear yours so we can acknowledge and move on.
DarkCurrent on October 4, 2008 at 5:45 PM
McCain needs to show an Obama ad of him voting “present” 147 times(?) with Stevie Wonder’s classic “YOU HAVEN’T DONE NOTHIN’” playing louder and LOUDER.
For just these Obama shock troop types.
profitsbeard on October 4, 2008 at 5:46 PM
the 2004 results happened because Jean-Francois had the misfortune not to have Fan and fred’s debts come due….
The donks were going apoplectic about the end times of capitalism when it was actual;ly pretty strong…also Jean Francois is not the Messiah Barry knew.
If my wanting a ranch and a lot of conservatives in Texas is alarming to you I can’t do sqaut about it….if my ability to read maps and wargame likely needs of an insurgency in the US is “treasonous” I’d love to know your views on Barry’s trying to undermine US Iraqi policy.
I am not a nut I am just burnt out on the histrionics and not willing to pretend we need to eat babies because the banks finally got caught laundering their risk valuation adn can’t maintain their profits with skewed risk.

The GOP made its decision on losing power when they quit following the contract with America and bought into “we can buy donk votes with program X”….they don’t read history evidently.
American Lend-Lease was explained to russians as meaning “from Stalin”…..

RobertInAustin on October 4, 2008 at 6:00 PM
No not sarcasm, but a very good albeit very sad prediction. Of course the blame will rest with racist white America and not with any of them. I believe the technical term is “not accepting responsibility for my actions when I can blame others for events centuries ago that make my actions justified to me, and only me, even though there is absolutely no linkage between my actions and those hundreds of years ago.”. In other words basic liberal crap. Well, the good news is with all the convictions we’ll have a few less liberal voters (in theory).
Bubba Redneck on October 4, 2008 at 6:01 PM
You personify our problem. You and others come out with detailed explanations sometimes with links to support your position and then you get suckered by bumper sticker liberals that have as much depth as a bumper sticker is thick. Why even answer someone with “adult table” comebacks? Is it valid response to your position? Hell no! This is the problem in general with Republicans. They almost never fight back. Never go on the offensive and when they do show some guts they get side tracked defending themselves to people that can’t manage more then “I was going to invite you to the adult table”. Pretty freaking insulting to dismiss your whole view as childish and without a single thing to back it up.
Don’t get sidetracked by them using such tactics. In one way I’m hoping it does turn out the way you and I think it will because I’m pretty sure we can handle it but the bumper sticker liberals are going to be in holy hell. Don’t get sidetracked by them using such tactics. Just got here–got home from work and ate supper. HotAir for desert.
I’m in retail. All the new labeling comes in English, French, and Spanish. Preparing for the coming North American Union. The less objectional scenario but still objectional.
My concern about this video and similar stuff is the mindset of the people who are so enamored toward Osamabama. They will obviously follow him blindly.
With ‘bama’s civilian corp, people like this will readily turn into snitches “for the greater good.”
With a Reid/Pelosi Legislative Branch, every socialist program they can think up will be enacted. Companies will be nationalized.
Castro, Chavez, et al will become advisors to the Executive Branch. Russia will run roughshod over all of Europe.
The SCOTUS will be stacked with postmodern worldviews. The Constitution of the United States of America will be found containing all sort of things that would cause our Founding Fatners to take up arms.
The only thing that can save us then is the thing that could destroy us: Islam. The Left is so much in denial over that threat that they will not see it coming.
Only an armed citizenry can protect itself from these threats.
I am arming and stocking up on ammo. But it is more than just arming.
My wife and I have had serious discussions about to where to move. Texas seems the best bet. They’ve been there and done that. The cry will change from “Remember the Alamo” to “Remember the USofA!”
I just read this to my wife. She sighed and said, “I hope the outcome isn’t the same as the Alamo.” Me. too.
But as Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty, or give me death.”
davidk on October 4, 2008 at 6:39 PM
The nice thing about history is if you pay attention it is hard to screw you the same way twice. The Alamo was a voluntary disaster and had they wargamed in their minds Santa Anna’s ruthlessness they could have attacked his lines as he marched through the dead of winter with Deaf Smith’s irregulars. The point being if it ever comes to a balls to the floorboard style all-out fight for the Republican form of government expressed by our founders and the “People’s Democracy of Norte Americano” I’ll wager we’ll be as ruthless as can be.
Have faith I think empty bellies grant platitudes a short half life, but we’ll see.
sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 6:45 PM
Most of the young kids in that video came from poor neighborhoods where violence and death visited the street often. Most of those kids, statistically speaking don’t have two parents in the home.
Like people everywhere they want someone to believe in. I would be more amazed if they did not chant in support of him.
He brings hope to those kids and they hope he does well.
My personal problem with Obama is his personal affiliations with Rev. Wright, B. Ayers, and the commie and socialist mentors that made him what he is.
I won’t vote for him because I think he will send the Country into the biggest wealth redistribution phase in our history and it will ruin us.
As for the kids chanting? No crime in that.

very laudable EXCEPT cults of personality are a two way street….

If he wins he is democratically elected and OUR president. And don’t start on the tainted vote thing unless you are prepared to say Bush did the same.

WOW,..just how many times do democrats need to pick a district to recount?..side note,..obama will NEVER be MY president . As I will buy a flag and turn it upside down for the time he’s in office. I’m all for counting every vote this election, especially Ohio!

every legal vote anyway….there is a reason our little donkey friends fight voter ID so hard….

…good point…it only took one president to change America irrevocably (and it was mostly done in his first term)…Andrew Johnson’s term was eventful, as well, and it wasn’t even a full four years.
All it will take will be enough people to say “oh, what harm can he do” for him to gut the Constitution (as Clinton tried with his “federalism” executive order), and the majority will choose order (or plain quiet) over rights, which people will generally do every time.

Next up for Obama? Gangs.

Agreed it takes prolonged catastrophic failure of a SuperState to have the people finally demand liberty. People who think Barry cab be undone in an election if he gets a bobsled course are deluding themselves. We are just now paying the final prices for FDR’s follies.

…because of Obama they aspire to be the next “Enforcement Wing” of the democrat party.

I hate to take the racist bait being thrown out in this video, but this bunch of stupid punks can aspire to be anything they want to aspire to be. In the end, Obama or no Obama, they’ll still just be stupid punks with no future. And that is not about their genetics or race, but about how they perceive their race. They are racists and as such they are doomed to the trash heap of history that people like Jessie Jackson, Sharpton and Obama have prepared for them.
Oh, and by the way Sven, moving to Texas won’t help. The way to stop the engine of their world is to quit producing for them. Read Atlas Shrugged. It’ll make some of this make more sense.

Read it and give it out as a gift for over a decade….the thing is I feel we have a duty to do our best to “work Colorado” for as long as we can for our children…
in the end Galt’s gulch may be a pipedream….
I’ll go down swinging.
to quote Billy Bob’s “Davey Crockett”…..
You may want to stack your guns and surrender I’ll do my best to intercede on your part but truth be told Sam’s been a might prickly of late.
Texas is a good resting point as we slipslide into Gamorra.
