Video: The obligatory “Obama Youth” fraternity

I’ve been flooded with e-mails to start a thread on the video of the so-called Obama Youth fraternity, and never let it be said that I kept Hot Air readers from a forum that will undoubtedly pile up hundreds of comments. I don’t consider this anywhere near as egregious as Sing for Change, but your mileage may vary:
There is some difference between having 5-12 year olds singing about Barack Obama and this group, which appears old enough to start forming their own opinions on politics. The quasi-military marching disturbs some, but as Jonah Goldberg notes, there is a tradition of this in black fraternities. The mindless chant of Barack Obama’s health-care slogans are less disturbing than comical, at least to me.
The Sing for Change video was clearly more of an exploitation of children for political indoctrination on behalf of the parents involved. The health-care cadence at least discussed policy specifics in the midst of the hero worship. The Sing for Change video makes Obama a demi-god to whom children should sing hosannas, and is much more creepy.

I saw this a few days ago. One of the dumbest things I have ever wasted time watching. What do we have here anyway? A revived Weather Underground recruitment tool?

The worship scares the crap out of me. This is like nothing I’ve seen before. People wearing blue shirts for support, young kids singing songs about him, the media refusing to report bad things about him, teens in military uniforms chanting about him, Camp Obama teaching radical-like strategies, any questioning of him being chalked up to racism, supporters looking to silence critics, property of his opponents being vandalized, and more.
How long before he’s Dear Leader?

Fact is it is only laughable Ed if they don’t get their way. Were this a bunch of white kids yelling for a David Duke who had a hard plurality of Americans backing him it’d be all over the news. Instead it is relatively hidden and absolutely uncommented on in the M$M.
Thanks for posting this Ed, but I think it is getting a bit late in the game for the undecideds to wrap their heads around “how peculiar” Barry really is.

They come in chanting “Alpha!” “Omega!” … this is a direct reference to biblical scripture where the Lord says “I am the Alpha and the Omega”, meaning the first and the last.
Obama is now casting himself as God?

What scares me more is that it’s not isolated to a few fringe crackpots. It seems to be widespread in this country and perhaps in other countries as well. I honestly think that his cult followers believe that BO is running for leader of some sort of one world government. A world united under BO.

Yeah I posted back when Investor’s Business Daily started in on “the civillian national security force” Barry mentioned on July the 2d and 9/11. It is pretty funny that we can worry about Trig Palin ’til the cows come home but not a single newsie can be bothered to ask Barry to define with precision what the mission statement of a group he wants to be “as large and as well funded as the US military” will be.
If he makes it through his election without being asked we deserve whatever we get.

I’ve seen this video featured here and there around the blogosphere, but I haven’t seen a discussion of who these young men are, how they were recruited, or what the institution is that is supporting these antics.
Are they incarcerated juvenile delinquents, or is it a military school (why all blacks), a Muslim madrassah, or what? And I’d *really* like to know if there’s any taxpayer funding involved.

Welcome to the Alinsky Party of Change comrades. How about a couple of quotes for the thread:
“You will never get real freedom and recognition between black and white people in this country without destroying the country, without destroying the present political system, without destroying the present economic system, without rewriting the entire constitution. It will be a complete destruction of everything that America supposedly stands for.”
– El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz
(born Malcolm Little, most commonly known as Malcolm X)
“Only Malcolm X’s autobiography seemed to offer something different. His repeated acts of self-creation spoke to me. The blunt poetry of his words. His unadorned insistence on respect. He promised a new and uncompromising order, marshal in its discipline.”
–Barack Hussein Obama
“But my journey is part of a larger journey – one shared by all who’ve ever sought to apply the values of their faith to our society. It’s a journey that takes us back to our nation’s founding, when none other than a UCC church inspired the Boston Tea Party and helped bring an Empire to its knees.”

Well, there was some of this around FDR – see Liberal Fascism by Goldberg, but certainly the Obama deification has gone beyond what FDR got, and the scary part is Obama is still just a candidate for president who has done only really one thing of note in his political career*.
This is reminiscent though of what we’ve seen overseas with any number of cult of personality despots. I think it indicates how sick the American Republic is right now. Even 20 years ago, a man of Obama’s experience would have been laughed out of the race if a major party had nominated him.

But what is disturbing is this line of thinking, and beliefs WILL stick with them far beyond this age group. What happens when the “Obama” plan falls through, or if he does not win? To where are they going to turn when “Dear Leader” fails them? Violence? Gangs? Depression?
The reason this is equally disturbing to me is because it is the older version of the creepy kiddies. There is no sense of individuality here, and once the individual is gone then there is nothing left but an empty shell, and they have no point of reference. The GOP has not addressed what is being done in inner city schools. McCain was right during the Convention when he mentioned the condition of education, and throwing money at the problem is NOT the answer. Children in our inner cities continue to receive extremely poor educations, crime is rampant in these schools, and they are not taught the importance of the individual. THIS will continue to be the result. Is not the definition of stupid repeating the same thing over and over, but expecting different results?
They believe it is because of Obama, (who never fought for one moment for Civil Rights, or has addressed gang violence in Black communities), it is because of HIM they can be whatever they dream to become. They do not understand that it is because of THIS COUNTRY they can be an architect, or a chemical engineer. They only see negative examples of mostly Democrat Black men and do not ever see those like Walter Williams, Michael Steele and yes, even Juan Williams. Instead they get P Diddy, Spike Lee and Snoop Dog. And they do not have any African-American history taught to them; all they know is MLK, Malcolm X, Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. I would bet a good amount of money not one of these young men could name one Tuskegee Airman. NOT ONE!

You know what disturbs me about this – the implicit notion that these guys thought they couldn’t be the things they claim they will be before Obama came along. That is incredibly sad.

Meh, I’ll probably take some flak for this comment, but I don’t see what the big deal is. Sure it’s a little creepy, but some youngsters are motivated by Obama to excel, and I say good for them. Kids from the city need better role models than the normal array of degenerate clowns we see in the celebrity world. It’s hardly any more “militant” than the boy scouts or JROTC (both positive organizations). This video was not meant for massive distribution either.
In contrast, the kids singing in Venice highlighted the unabashed self-righteousness of the left. Willing to trot their kids out in a bizarre sing-along for a video production DESIGNED to be massively released. Now that kind of crap boils my blood.

If the bottom falls out and the situation is not redeemable we all need to rally in Texas. Texas is already conservative and if we can leverage it to be even more so it imcreases the likelihood they’ll have the spine to tell the Federal Govt. to go to hell if need be. sven10077 on October 4, 2008 at 1:50 PM
Because of Odummy they can become these things?
How about the founding fathers who created the nation’s ideals? The men who fought at Bunker Hill and Yorktown to keep the dream alive? The hundreds of thousands of Union soldiers who died so that blacks would no longer be enslaved? The men and women who refused to give up their seats on buses, who marched into the teeth of riot cops and police dogs, who suffered abuse and torture and death to bring equal rights to blacks?
How about because of your own drive, or the life lessons from your parents? Or the countless examples of African-Americans who came long before Ogoof and didn’t think of themselves as gods?
You live a pretty damn shallow life if you were waiting for a complete fool like Obiscuit to lead the way.

It’s a great read an even includes some laugh-out-loud poetry that Obama actually wrote.
Enjoy.

I think a lot of borderline crazies were leeery of Clinton hyping Y2K because they saw term limits degenerating in their support. Liberal equivalents lay awake at night thinking Bush will not surrender power. I am torn between agreeing and trusting the people.
The thing is in my estimation the BEST Barry can offer is LBJ and Carter’s ideological son. The worst he can offer is Che and Mao’s with a dash of Mugabe thrown in. Che, Mao, and Mugabe ain’t gonna “just leave” after 2600 days of power.

He is a pseudo religious cult leader with a worldwide cult following and that changes the perspective of the whole race and him becoming president. BO normal politician = Carter II and a single term. BO = messiah and who really can say what will happen. All I know is that using history as my guide BO = messiah will most likely be a nightmare.

If Obama wins, you can expect the same reaction as the original O.J. acquittal trial including celebratory gun fire civil disobediance etc. Either way we’re in trouble.

Yes I do. We allowed the press to grow ever more maniacally biased in the wake of Bill Clinton’s ‘Operation Hide the Dress” and never demanded with rage as a unified populace that they earn that first amendment protection they have. We have allowed them to become not only kingmakers which is bad enough but a cloak for some really ugly potential messes in our nation’s future.
We got lazy, and in getting lazy we have set the table for some massive convulsions that will test the mettle of the Republic. Thirty years ago I’d have not been worried at all we had the world war 2 generation to look evil in the eye and say “go to hell”. The crisis is that the current crop of Americans think “evil” is something you snark at over the water cooler to a large degree.
We would not need the news media if our movement would just get this out to their confidants who would not label the teller as “paranoid” out of the gate but it is not happening. This is so scary that ytou can’t tell random people about it without looking like a lunatic.
The best case scenario is that Barry wants a useless but expensive version of FDR’s “alphabet soup” in perpetuity….but the worst case scenario is precisley what things like this video look like.
I suspect it will be a middle case sceanrio at least initially and be defacto “forced volunteer” political agitprop indoctrination camps to start. That is why I am looking hard at Texas. The government can have my money legally but I draw the line at my son’s soul.
