The SarahCuda on the attack

The Free Sarah Palin strategy has already begun to pay dividends. Palin returned to the traditional running-mate role of attack dog, reminding voters of Barack Obama’s accusation that American troops had a strategy in Afghanistan of “air-raiding villages and bombing civilians”. Palin considers that a disqualifying event for a person seeking the position of Commander in Chief:
Speaking to Fox News on Friday, Sarah Palin indicated for the first time that she does not consider Barack Obama qualified to be commander in chief and sharply criticized him for saying last year that U.S. troops in Afghanistan are “just air raiding villages and killing civilians.”
Calling Obama “reckless,” Palin said that where she comes from Obama’s remarks “disqualify someone from consideration for the next commander-in-chief.”
“Some of his comments that he’s made about the war, that I think, in my world disqualify someone from consideration for the next commander-in-chief,” said Palin. “Some of the comments he’s made about Afghanistan, what we are doing there, ‘just air raiding villages and killing civilians.’ That’s reckless.”
Those comments came in August 2007, when Obama tried criticizing the Bush administration’s military strategy in Afghanistan. Here’s the video:
Palin does a good job in bringing this back to the forefront. Either Obama meant to smear the military leadership in Afghanistan, including that of our allies, or he didn’t have the first clue what he was saying. Neither commends itself for someone who would command our military during this war, especially the fact that Obama made that accusation without ever having traveled to Afghanistan to see the situation for himself.

After seeing all the prayers for Palin, and how she
did so great in the debate, I can’t help but think
God has a reason for her being on this ticket. Keep on
praying…:)She seems so confident…I wish all Republicans
could just follow her example in congress.

I’m not scared but I’m feeling those Dole ‘96 feelings. Bush couldn’t believe that America could elect a draft dodger and I can’t believe we could elect a Marxist.
Let’s put it this way. I’ve never in my life prayed/fasted MORE for an election.

Got to repeat–America has had the knack of having the right person for the right time, in any given situation. Even a cursory look through our history will bear this out. The stumbles (Carter) merely point out the correct path.
Given that, I see no reason for this election to differ .
So man up, pumpkins, in the end it will be well, our beloved country will survive.

Explore her blog, and I just can’t recommend her show from this evening any more highly. It was amazing … I didn’t hear the first hour or so, because I didn’t even know she was on…I was driving around and switching radio channels and heard her voice…figured it was a replay from Friday, but would still be enjoyable so I kept it on.

Of course it is mostly about Bush. Hello? His disapproval ratings are record setting. How is moving away from the least popular President of a generation non-logical? Obama couldn’t have run four years ago, and he probably couldn’t have run four years from now, but after Bush’s lousy 2005 his read was that the time was right. And he was right (ask Hillary). Regardless of Ayers, Wright, et al, Bush’s legacy and the economy are going to be difficult for McCain to shake. But this is going to be a looooong month, so anything can happen.

Anyone see the SNL skit tonight?
Queen Latifah played Ifill. I missed the very beginning, but Queen had Ifill plugging her book twice. It was good.
They took swipes at both of them, though I think they could have swiped at a few of Biden’s lies.
I think Palin did well enough on Thursday that the howls from anything Fey did to diss Palin does nothing more than make the blood of the flyover zone boil.
I may be too lenient on SNL, but Palin’s shown twice that she belongs, so the slams don’t enrage me. I just clench my teeth at the audience howls (say, there was a very cheap shot about her daughter getting married) and stick more pins in the a** of my Barney Frank voodoo doll.

CBS news is reporting that the attendance at today’s CA rally was between 15 to 20 thousand… apparently people were sent to an overflow area we weren’t aware of!
This rally was held in a very blue part of the county so a lot of people drove a long way in L.A. traffic to get there… very encouraging…
CCRWM on October 4, 2008 at 11:57 PM
That was a smear. He smeared the troops in order to smear Bush by proxy. Why? Because the people he wanted to vote for him all hate Bush.
Maybe some people don’t care about that, but I guarantee there are a lot of people in this country whose blood starts boiling at that point. If they ever hear it, that is. It’s not like the media goes out of its way to share Obama’s less popular statements with us.

Someone please explain to me how Obama got $300K knocked off the $1.65M asking price for the home that he and his wife bought a few years ago in a seller’s market.
I would submit that the $300K came from Rezko or another friendly source in exchange for an Obama favor (or a pardon) to be named. I would submit that the Seller, as long as he got his $300K from someone, was happy to go along with the arrangement because that $300K wouldn’t be included in his 1099-B reported to him and the IRS. If the seller’s gain on the sale exceeded the applicable exclusion ($250K or $500K), this arrangement could have saved the seller as much as $45K in capital-gains taxes. Every taxpayer loves an opportunity to stick it to the IRS.
The MSM should be going into overdrive inquirying into this transaction because it suggests that Obama has incurred a debt to some unsavory characters.
Again, it wasn’t a $3,000 or $30,000 reduction in the asking price; it was $300,000 reduction, from $1.65M to $1.35M–in a seller’s market.
Just saying.

The part that shocked me was Paul Gigot, he apparently went to the CEO of Countrywide (excuse the aside but he looked like a tall Umpalumpa (sic) from the original Willie Wonka movie) to interview him about the irregularities and the guy got into his face, accused him of being from his competitors. Now this was a few years ago but I bet it will be discounted because WSJ is owned by Murdoch now.

Gigot strikes me as a very straight shooter. The Countrywide CEO (now former) is unbelievably sleazy. He can be the effigy for business community greed. He’s the guy that helped Dodd get his sweetheart deal.
I don’t care about the ownership conflict. WSJ has been reporting on these matters for years. I’ll guess that 80% of the country will concede that the WSJ is a reputable source. Besides, the ownership conflict came up only this year, and Fox acknowledges it in its reporting–more than I can say for other media and Gwen Ifill.
OT: Ifill chose a lousy social issue–same-sex benefits. Biden blabbed on ad nauseam about property and hospital visitation rights as if they represent some form of widespread violations of civil rights. In fact, they represent instances in which gays and lesbians are too careless to name their partners as the designated beneficiaries of life insurance policies, IRAs, 401(k)s, and the like. The hospital visitation issues can be easily fixed by completing a living will and a health care surrogate.
In the end, all these issues can be easily addressed by some fundamental estate planning. Gays and lesbians are typically well educated and pretty affluent. I don’t regard these problems as civil rights problems. Besides, gay and lesbian partners are in exactly the same position as unmarried heterosexual couples.
If Biden proposes to revise the estate-planning related statutes in each of the 50 states to recognize civil unions and, in turn, to treat gay and lesbian partners as a spouse under all these default statutory regimes, he should start calling the legislatures of the 50 states. Whether default statutes are enacted or not, careful estate planning is always the better option. These problems arise primarily for those who don’t plan ahead. And during the debate, this was a completely bogus response by Biden.
Anyway, a far more interesting question for Biden (the Catholic) and Palin (the pro-lifer) would have been abortion. We’ve already seen Obama (the liar) and McCain (the one with the great answer) deal with abortion at Saddleback.
Just saying.

Their peers live together, buy houses together and have children together but no marriage. Not all of course. It is just so odd to see same sex couples clamoring to get married when heterosexual couples seem to consider it a thing of the past. Really? So those ~90 Afghans we blew up in the latest air-raid to hit the news waves was what? Extermly helpful? Ingenious? The right track forward?
Or, was it a tragic mistake exacerbated by the fact that the Allied forces in Afghanistan have no clear strategy to win whatever we may or may not think needs winning in a war that’s never been won before?
For that matter: where the better half of sanity comes from, Sarah Palin’s remarks on domestic policy disqualify her to be Chief Executive of our country. I bet none of you can describe to me in detail any of her rambiling answers to any of the questions posed to her at the debate. The very fact that people descirbe her as doing well, soley because she held her own, doesn’t exactly warrant a win. Nobody wins for just standing there, smiling and winking. You win if you bring it to the table, and that’s not what Sarah Palin did. If you think it is, find the transcript and quote from it directly.

I just passed my 14th anniversary. Before getting married, we lived together, albeit in glorious sin, for 13 years. It was during that time, 14 years ago I discovered conservatism. Life has only gotten better in health, wealth and that glorious sin…. but now I have a license.
Let the same sex partners have the all the benefits of marriage and all the pain of divorce.
Actually, I don’t really believe that. It would clog the courts with already more bad divorces. Plus, the art of responsibility and accountability would give way to throw-away marriages and children. Which sounds very much like today’s values in some places.

And also from the story, the Fox Team was shown the exact same evidence that the U.S. military says supports their claim that only a few people were killed. They went through the same rubble the military went through, and saw the same graveyard the military did – it only seems right that they came to the same conclusion the U.S. military did.

I don’t even know what to say anymore………
…………… the “Bail-Out” plan by the Democrats fixed nothing….that is the key to winning this election, what the heck the rest of you are talking about really causes me anx….

Kini,
Have to agree… freedom for everyone means freedom for everyone and equal means equal. The way modern America and the West treats marriage I see no problem with same sex people who want to formally join together doing so. It isn’t my marriage and none of my business quite frankly.
I wish conservatives would again become advocates and agents for competent government rather than be associated so clearly with its worst failings over the last eight years. The change that Americans crave for is competence.

I support, well can tolerate civil unions…code pink demands “marriage” which intersects with my religion can’t cave on that point thanks.
You know oddly, “change is competence” rings sort of hollow when the other side nominates Barack “I seem a teenaged candidate” O’bama for their one slot…..
If Barack is the answer it was a pretty stupid question I am betting.

Gee, I’ve never seen candidates completely evade the questions asked and shift gears to their talking points before. Must be something they invented in Alaska.
Give me a break. Dems have done this on every issue for which they don’t have a real answer for YEARS, and the media never calls them on it. Ask Barry or Biden where they plan to save money to pay for their tax cuts, and they’ll give the cop-out answer that they “plan to go over the budget with a fine-tooth comb.” In other words, “we’ll get back to you on that…just trust us.” No, I think I’ll pass on trusting Dems to keep promises.
Palin played the “debate” game the way it’s been played for many years. The moderator could have gone either way on this – she could press for more direct answers (which she would then be obliged to do with Biden), or she could let them both slide. Ifill was in a tough spot due to her book, and wisely chose not to go down the road that would lead to partiality.

She really needs to pick up Coulter’s brilliant line
“Surrender, socialism and sub-prime mortgages!”

Hogwash!
You provide the details of the little king’s domestic and other policies . . . other than raising taxes on the middle class and small business; socializing health care; destroying the military; and, implementing his Marxist/socialist policies throughout the economy. As with all communist revolutions, people like Obama always appear in tough economic times. Elect this empty suit Chicago rabble-rouser at your own peril.

The media IS trying to depress the vote by demoralizing us. They did the same thing to Sarah in 2006 in the Governor’s race.
I was there in Anchorage, campaigning as a volunteer for Sarah. Even waved signs with her, right on the busiest street corner in Anchorage.
The last poll that came out 3 days before the election in 2006 had Dem Tony Knowles up over Sarah by 5. She ended up winning by over 10%.
It was clearly a Anchorage liberal media ploy to throw the election to their beloved Tony Knowles. It didn’t work. And it won’t work in 2008 for McCain/Palin!

A pattern may be developing.
The Chicago Cubs lost their series to the LA Dodgers 3-0.
The Chicago White Sox play the Tampa Bay Devil Rays today, but they’re down in that series 2-0.
Is McCain going to be ready in his two remaining debates to sweep the Chicagoan Obama? Are McCain-Palin going to overcome Obama-Biden?
McCain, with the left hand, go for Obama’s throat, with the right hand do what Jesse Jackson proposed to do. Quit pussy-footing around and beat Obama up for the Dems role in the Fannie-Freddie subprime fiasco. Starting reforming now. Otherwise, we will never hear of it, and nothing will change–except for the worse.
Lisping Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters, Franklin Raines, and all the rest make great whipping boys. Get a copy of last night’s Fox program, and get the story straight. It needs to be played over and over from now until Election Day–it’s a blueprint for victory.
