The Free Sarah Palin strategy has already begun to pay dividends. Palin returned to the traditional running-mate role of attack dog, reminding voters of Barack Obama’s accusation that American troops had a strategy in Afghanistan of “air-raiding villages and bombing civilians”. Palin considers that a disqualifying event for a person seeking the position of Commander in Chief:
Speaking to Fox News on Friday, Sarah Palin indicated for the first time that she does not consider Barack Obama qualified to be commander in chief and sharply criticized him for saying last year that U.S. troops in Afghanistan are “just air raiding villages and killing civilians.”
Calling Obama “reckless,” Palin said that where she comes from Obama’s remarks “disqualify someone from consideration for the next commander-in-chief.”
“Some of his comments that he’s made about the war, that I think, in my world disqualify someone from consideration for the next commander-in-chief,” said Palin. “Some of the comments he’s made about Afghanistan, what we are doing there, ‘just air raiding villages and killing civilians.’ That’s reckless.”
Those comments came in August 2007, when Obama tried criticizing the Bush administration’s military strategy in Afghanistan. Here’s the video:
Palin does a good job in bringing this back to the forefront. Either Obama meant to smear the military leadership in Afghanistan, including that of our allies, or he didn’t have the first clue what he was saying. Neither commends itself for someone who would command our military during this war, especially the fact that Obama made that accusation without ever having traveled to Afghanistan to see the situation for himself.

First, I agree with Palin. It should be a factor in considering if he is capable of being CiC. I think he’s dangerous, I really do. Second, her strong debate performance will pay dividends because she can be the strong mouthpiece to point out all of the wrongs of Obama. She has more spunk then McCain and more (political) fight then McCain and she has a winning delivery. If anything can turn turn the last few weeks around, she might.

Trent Lott, when called upon to make some remarks at Strom Thurmond’s 400th birthday party … says something as innocent as “He ran for President … and we’d have been better off if he’d won!” … I mean … considering the forum .. a 400 year old man … say something nice … it’s pretty innocent.
But he has to lose his position in the Senate over it once the Terrorist Rights Party starts screaming about it.

You left out the fact that he was also chair of the Senate committee that had oversight of the war. A committee he never called into session. This point needs hammering home, especially since he keeps saying how important the war in Afghanistan is. Obama, if it was so important, and we were going about it wrong, why didn’t you convene your committee and try to do something about it?

It puts Obama right in line with Jack Murtha and Dick Durbin. Trust me, a hell of a lot of military people are extremely upset. And if the American people elect Obama as their Commander in Chief after he joins the Jack Murtha-Dick Durbin crowd, a lot of those people will likely decide that the American people aren’t worth fighting for. You will see reinlistment rates fall through the floor. I can only hope that part of Obama’s attempt to gut the military will involve offers of early retirement so my family won’t have to deal with a couple of years of life with Obama as commander in chief.

What would make Obama unqualified to be Presient would be if he were less than 35 years old and not a natural born citizen of the US. We have no bona fide COLB from Obama. He should be forced to produce it.
These statements like the one about Afghanistan, however, and and his associations (Rezko, Ayers, Wright) make Obama unfit to be President. Go get him, CUDA! Vote NObama in ‘08. We absolutely cannot elect him President.

She is doing fundraising, and I know there is at least one rally. The rally is in Carson, of all places. I guess they couldn’t take an extra 30 minutes to driver her into Orange County where the crowd would be huge.

Uh, Honda, my gasbag Senator Lott basically had 24 hours to pack his stuff up and get out of Washington or he was going to jail. Here is the skinny, he was and is involved in illegal activities of his brother-in-law and had been utilizing former AG Gonzalez to help stall and cover for the brother-in-law. He went to Mulkasey to attempt to get the same deal and was told to get out of Mulkasey’s office and to resign or Mulkasey would try him for tampering with a federal case and attempting to bribe him. It is a minor miracle that the man is not behind bars and still is showing his face in public. Many Conservatives in Mississippi are very happy to see him go considering his immigration stance and dislike of most of us here in his home state. The man has been dirty for quite some time, but is one of those types of politicians that manages to skate. We picketed his office over immigration here in Jackson and he was ticked at us expressing our free speech rights!

The McCain/Palin ticket needs to pull out all the stops. Playing by gentleman rules has obviously not worked. The Obama/Biden ticket (and their minions at DKos etc) have no such scruples. The MSM is going to criticize McCain/Palin no matter what so we might as well give them a good reason.

“For some, that recalled the accusations made against the military during the Vietnam War.” It reminds me of what Mr. Tereza Heinz Kerry said about his own fellow soldiers back then, so it’s a replay of 2004 because those sound bites from his testimony (back in 1970-something?) were repeated over and over again. Barry was trying to play to his peace-at-any-price base and wasn’t thinking…again.
It’s funny how Billy got away with air-raiding Serbia from altitudes so high that they didn’t know what they were hitting. That’s when they needed weapons of mass distraction tho, (against the ’stalker’, Lewinsky), and it doesn’t count because the Kosovo war was only a few months long, (but it’s really a much longer story). I seem to recall that John McCain was pushing boots on the ground in that ‘conflict’, but that involved courage and the Clinton administration never had any, unless you wanna count Hilly’s influence.

Hotair has already addressed this issue. The BCs on the internet like the one at the DailyKos are real. If Obama did not have a COLB, the Dept. of Vital Statistics in Hawaii would have issued a statement.
The only thing Obama said that was wrong was the truth. He was not bashing the troops, but because there has been so little investment in Afghanistan, these mistakes are being made.
Palin can be the attack dog all she wants, she’ll just have her nose rubbed in it if you get what I mean.

1.) Maybe there something in the internals that say CA is in play.
2.) She was going to do the fundraiser there, anyway, so having a rally to keep her in the public eye IS. A. GOOD. THING.
3.) She’s probably GOING. ON. THE. ATTACK. and needs on a daily basis no matter where she’s at.
4.) She probably demanded the rally if she was going to be there anyway. Remember, she’s the one begging to go back to Michigan.

I may be ignorant (figured I would say it before someone else does) but I would love to see any kind of link for details on this. I think we all need to get ramped up on the details on all the stupidity that our side has had to endure and call a spade a spade – so when it comes time to run out the weakling righties en masse- we will be ready. I know he is already on his way out but we still need to know. Obaco could have said, “mistakes are being made in Afghanistan” but he didn’t, he said the same gawdawful stupid things that libs ALWAYS say about the troops; from Murtha to Harkin to Durbin to Kerry.
If Obarfo had taken the time to see just how many times a mission has been scrubbed or our soldiers killed because they were careful and cautious about harming civilians, he might know better.

I was at the San Antonio fundraiser yesterday. It was great to see about 100 people on the street downtown, showing their support for her. There about 5 nuts dressed up in pointless costumes protesting against her. The pro-Palin folks were great–all dressed up patriotically, with signs and buttons and stickers. They were disappointed that the convoy took a different route and didn’t see them, but they were on all the news stations, and that’s what really counts.

What alternate universe are you living in? The context of his remarks were to undermine the efforts in Iraq. He was using the Murtha strategy of defaming the troops in a backdoor attempt to destroy Bush.

That said, so what? The middle 20% doesn’t give a rat’s ass about what’s going on anywhere else but on our shores. Period.
Don’t call me a naysayer. This morning, I attended my three-person Bible study (going on seven years). One guy is a doctor, very mild mannered and, when pressed, would admit that he won’t vote for Obama because of his position on abortion. The other guy is married, two kids, middle-class office worker who will likely lose his job in four months because of a merger.
I didn’t do a good job of describing the Dems role in Fannie and Freddie, but the second guy cut me off after a few minutes and told me that I read too much conservative material. He cited yesterday’s employment stats, the bailout, and the fact that he’s heard nothing about McCain’s 2005 warnings and nothing about a Democratic connection to Fannie and Freddie and the credit crisis. This guy examined banks in the early 1990s for four years, he knows about CRA of 1977, and he views the credit crisis as Bush’s fault. He did make one good point that McCain never has an answer regarding why Iraq is not paying for the way. For me, it’s not a reason to fold the tents and withdrawal, but it’s a good argument that Obama is hanging around McCain’s neck.
In the end, I suspect that the second guy will vote for McCain out of reflex (and, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t admit it to me). But I’m guessing that many others much like him in swing states are going to go with Obama’s “peace, bread, land” line. And it won’t hurt that they’ll feel that they’re exercising their vote in an enlightened way as they pull the lever for Obama.
McCain needs to agressively point the finger elsewhere

If she brings up Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, I’ll believe it. Till then, I think it’s all done by the campaign. And sanctioned by McCain.
She needs to dump these handlers and listen to her libertarian heart and kick a$$ on these issues. Set herself up for 2012.

The American people, and undecided voters in particular, will surely respond positively to the strategy of having a politician with a negative favorability rating (Palin) attacking a politician with a favorability rating of like +20 (Obama).

Since the press obviously has a lockout on Palin, it behooves her to be controversial. Have her go to an event, unannounced and surprise the audience. Have her make calls to less than conservative venues in talk radio unannounced. Go to a pig farm, a day care, a packing plant. Let her take the hits from hecklers. If someone challenges her the public will be curious
Romney staged a televised meeting with typical voters in a family home. He batted awkward questions well. It was less pompous than a Town Meeting and more convincing. Palin is a natural for this.
Try working Palin with Romney to test the chemistry. Do this in relaxed settings like a factory or shipyard
At least send her husband to Michigan. Our electoral votes are as good as anyone’s. Ignore the RINO’s. Take no advice from the Michigan GOP clique which is as elitist as heck and clueless about the masses. The best they can do is to send her to Warren or some swing city where she would speak in a high school auditorium to the converted and get a tag at the bottom of the FOX News screen ‘ Palin in Michigan’.
Throw away the darn scripts and accept the gaffes. The White House is home to along line of gaffers.
They cannot turn perceptions around in a press vacuun. Palin has energy and muscle.
Let her run like Thatcher. Thatcher was prepared for anything because she could think fast and ran on convictions. When she angered the press, she got free publicity for her ideas
