The Free Sarah Palin strategy has already begun to pay dividends. Palin returned to the traditional running-mate role of attack dog, reminding voters of Barack Obama’s accusation that American troops had a strategy in Afghanistan of “air-raiding villages and bombing civilians”. Palin considers that a disqualifying event for a person seeking the position of Commander in Chief:
Speaking to Fox News on Friday, Sarah Palin indicated for the first time that she does not consider Barack Obama qualified to be commander in chief and sharply criticized him for saying last year that U.S. troops in Afghanistan are “just air raiding villages and killing civilians.”
Calling Obama “reckless,” Palin said that where she comes from Obama’s remarks “disqualify someone from consideration for the next commander-in-chief.”
“Some of his comments that he’s made about the war, that I think, in my world disqualify someone from consideration for the next commander-in-chief,” said Palin. “Some of the comments he’s made about Afghanistan, what we are doing there, ‘just air raiding villages and killing civilians.’ That’s reckless.”
Those comments came in August 2007, when Obama tried criticizing the Bush administration’s military strategy in Afghanistan. Here’s the video:
Palin does a good job in bringing this back to the forefront. Either Obama meant to smear the military leadership in Afghanistan, including that of our allies, or he didn’t have the first clue what he was saying. Neither commends itself for someone who would command our military during this war, especially the fact that Obama made that accusation without ever having traveled to Afghanistan to see the situation for himself.

Thinking of Chicago, where I grew up, I have a question for McCain to consider in the final four weeks of campaigning. With his final breaths, in The Untouchables, Jim Malone (Sean Connery’s character) grabbed Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner’s character) and demanded to know, “What are you prepared to do? What are you prepared to do?”
Obama is evil and he’s un-American. McCain and Palin have to pull out all the legitimate stops to prevent this plague: issues, culture, whatever–there’s no shortage of material. Scorched earth. Nobody wants or needs nonsense. But just as about 40% of the country couldn’t understand the hullabalo surrounding the unbelievable financial conflict of interest surrounding Gwen Ifill’s moderating this past week’s debate (rightly slammed on SNL last night), the rest of the country did. The same for Obama. About 40% of the country, may give Obamaa a pass for his many sins and associations, but about 60% won’t–however, those sins have to be exposed and pounded daily.
I’m tired of McCain’s half-a** effort. It’s not working in swing states. Whine all you want about a liberal media; right now, McCain’s not telling another side to the story other than spending freezes and ends to earmarks. Yawn.
Obama is essentially offering “peace, bread, land” much as Lenin and the Bolsheviks did in 1917. Look how that worked out and consider the aftermath of its success.
Name Fannie-Freddie-fiasco names now. As noted in earlier comments, when raising Ayers, emphasize how Obama and Ayers wasted a grant exceeding $100 million to improve Chicago schools. Those schools are still a disgrace. The campaign ad writes itself.

Gov Palin also came out with an slam against the Obamanation for his coddling domestic terrorists, i.e. Ayers. Now the media are trying to distance the Obamanation from Ayers by claiming they were just ships passing through the night without doing any credible reporting and without mentioning Stanley Kurtz or digging into the Daley Library records. So keep pounding this thing Gov Palin, the media is in a tizzy cause this will hit paydirt.

I apologize for the length of my prior post. As an American citizen who has worked full time since I graduated from HS (37 years of full time employment)I want a thorough investigation into this government bailout, and I want those responsible locked up and put away for the crimes they perpetrated on the tax payers. The fact that the MSM refuses to investigate and report on this story is proof positive that the American media no longer serves the interest of the public, but rather serves the interest of a political party “Democrats.”

McCain needs to be prepared to hammer Obama on Ayers, and respond when Obama calls his attacks a distraction from the issues.
One line I would hammer over and over again – because of Obama’s radicial ties, he would never, never, be able to work for the Pentagon, or receive a top secret clearance.

This is what happens when you have weak-kneed liberal republicans running your campaign. Oh boy, Joe Lieberman is on Fox News Sunday right now defending McCain. Another great winning move. I’ll try to stay awake listening to him.

Unqualified home buyers were not the only ones who benefitted from Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank’s efforts to deregulate Fannie Mae throughout the 1990s.
So did Frank’s partner, a Fannie Mae executive at the forefront of the agency’s push to relax lending restrictions.
Now that Fannie Mae is at the epicenter of a financial meltdown that threatens the U.S. economy, some are raising new questions about Frank’s relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie’s assistant director for product initiatives. Moses worked at the government-sponsored enterprise from 1991 to 1998, while Frank was on the House Banking Committee, which had jurisdiction over Fannie.
Both Frank and Moses assured the Wall Street Journal in 1992 that they took pains to avoid any conflicts of interest. Critics, however, remain skeptical.
“It’s absolutely a conflict,” said Dan Gainor, vice president of the Business & Media Institute. “He was voting on Fannie Mae at a time when he was involved with a Fannie Mae executive. How is that not germane?
“If this had been his ex-wife and he was Republican, I would bet every penny I have – or at least what’s not in the stock market – that this would be considered germane,” added Gainor, a T. Boone Pickens Fellow. “But everybody wants to avoid it because he’s gay. It’s the quintessential double standard.”
A top GOP House aide agreed.
“C’mon, he writes housing and banking laws and his boyfriend is a top exec at a firm that stands to gain from those laws?” the aide told FOX News. “No media ever takes note? Imagine what would happen if Frank’s political affiliation was R instead of D? Imagine what the media would say if [GOP former] Chairman [Mike] Oxley’s wife or [GOP presidential nominee John] McCain’s wife was a top exec at Fannie for a decade while they wrote the nation’s housing and banking laws.”
Frank’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Frank met Moses in 1987, the same year he became the first openly gay member of Congress.
“I am the only member of the congressional gay spouse caucus,” Moses wrote in the Washington Post in 1991. “On Capitol Hill, Barney always introduces me as his lover.”
The two lived together in a Washington home until they broke up in 1998, a few months after Moses ended his seven-year tenure at Fannie Mae, where he was the assistant director of product initiatives. According to National Mortgage News, Moses “helped develop many of Fannie Mae’s affordable housing and home improvement lending programs.”
Critics say such programs led to the mortgage meltdown that prompted last month’s government takeover of Fannie Mae and its financial cousin, Freddie Mac. The giant firms are blamed for spreading bad mortgages throughout the private financial sector.
Although Frank now blames Republicans for the failure of Fannie and Freddie, he spent years blocking GOP lawmakers from imposing tougher regulations on the mortgage giants. In 1991, the year Moses was hired by Fannie, the Boston Globe reported that Frank pushed the agency to loosen regulations on mortgages for two- and three-family homes, even though they were defaulting at twice and five times the rate of single homes, respectively.
Three years later, President Clinton’s Department of Housing and Urban Development tried to impose a new regulation on Fannie, but was thwarted by Frank. Clinton now blames such Democrats for planting the seeds of today’s economic crisis.
“I think the responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was president, to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac,” Clinton said recently.

The fact of the matter is that Obama’s ties to Ayers are far deeper and much more intimate than the Obama campaign and the Main Stream Media would like you to believe. They are hardly ships passing in the night, rather, they are ideological soulmates. Reading Stanley Kurtz’s report on digging through the files of CAC is enlightening – however, his cry in the night is not being heard – yet.
What’s more is that Obama is up to his neck in his association with ACORN, you remember ACORN from earlier this week as the bailout bill was being debated, right? You can draw a straight line from the liberal Democrats in Congress to Fannie and Freddie to ACORN to Obama. Obama has blood all over his hands and boatloads of cash in his account as a consequence this crisis. I know that McCain has been working on the upcoming debate this weekend, so I can give him a pass on that. Palin did a great job yesterday opening up a can of woopa** on Obama and actually got him to respond. If the McCain camp is paying attention they will go one level deeper on Obama’s associations. From there it is Katy-bar-the-door. Obama’s questionable associations with individuals and organizations are legion and well documented for those who take the time to open-mindedly research them. These associations are not accidents, my friends. If you are Jewish do you worship in a Mosque? If you hold the American ideal close to your heart would you spend even a moment in the company of someone who took up arms against it? If you believe in individual rights and limited government would you allow yourself to be employed by an organization that wants citizens to rely upon the government to secure housing for them outside the parameters of the free market? Walk a mile in Mr. Obama’s shoes and ask yourself if his vision of America at all resembles yours.
That Obama is purposefully obfuscating his true ideology and his true associations is beyond debate. What is also beyond debate is that he, and we, will have to suffer the consequences of those ideas and associations if, God forbid, he should be elected to office. The question we have to grapple with is are we going to finally vet this man or not?

If Manson’s people had murdered a prominent Republican instead of Hollywood types, maybe he could be a professor in Chicago today as well. Afer all, HE never actually murdered anyone. HE was “non-fatal”.

Tuesday night the first question on the economy McCain needs to ask for Barney Franks resignation and point out Frank, Dodd and 0Bomber were the top three money grabbers from Freddie and Fannie. The shock waves would put the 0Bomber on defense and guarantee McCain the spotlight he sooooo loves.
It is incumbant upon the man who would be the Republican representative for POTUS to not let stand the idea the Dems have stated that capitlism, the free market, deregulation
are responsible for this economic mess it goes to the heart of our society and our free market system, it must be refuted.
It is not too late in fact Tuesday may be the best place to send the message as the debate be highly viewed and unfiltered.
A bold approach would name the names, as McCain said he would, make them famous, as McMaverick said he would, hold them accountable, as Mr. Bi-Partisan said he would and state the truth as the straight talk express says it will.
The dems have walked to the end of the branch by blaming Repubs and Bush it is time to saw that branch off NOW!

I’ve just had a very strange converstion with the loons “Sarah” look-alike. Lasted about 3 or 4 minutes until she didn’t like what I said about communists and reached up twice and closed the view finder on the vid cam. I told her that, that wasn’t very nice.
The “grannies for peace” are starting to cuss at the Mc side now in a “walk by” assalt.
Things are winding down now at 12:01. I guess I’ll start heading back up the hill to SacTown.
I hope someone over at HA has read this.

But this mess was created by politics – not by Wall Street, by Congress. We warned them it would happen, and it did – We tried to stop it, in 1999, in 2002, in 2006, and again last year but Democrats in Congress stonewalled us every time.

The bill responds to a real financial emergency – one with consequences that go far beyond Wall Street – to your bank, your mortgage, your credit. As passed, the bill is a compromise and to get even that passed I suspended my campaign, went to Washington, and did my job as a senator – while my opponent went to the gym and practiced his debate answers.
As a senator I sometimes have to do distasteful things. In this case, to get the votes needed to get a necessary bill passed I twisted arms, made promises, and agreed to letting Democrats put things in the bill that simply don’t belong there – like exemptions on carbon taxes and wooden arrows. But that’s the Democrat way: to them no pork means no progress, and they’re perfectly willing to screw the country to get what they want.
It has to end – but only you can end it. Take a good look at the democrats running in your district and your state: if they’re people who put themselves ahead of their country, – throw them out. Send people to Washington Sarah and I can work with.
My friends, if we work together we can fix this – Please. Do your part, vote them out – and I promise you this: we’ll do ours.

I think you know I don’t agree with people like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid very often: both of them have been blaming President Bush and the Republican urge to deregulate for the credit crisis and they know that’s not right, but to them it’s not about the country, not about you: to them everything’s all about them, about politics, about taking partisan advantage no matter what.
But I’ll say this for them: when the president called a meeting at the Whitehouse, they were ready – my opponent in this election was not. When ordered to come, he came: when Pelosi and Reid gave him control of the meeting, he had nothing to say – he had to ask what the Paulsen proposal was. When he did speak, he spoke from deep ignorance – no knowledge, no depth, no understanding: partisan, leftwing, unthought through rhetoric you’d expect from his close friend and mentor Mr. Jeremiah Wright, not from a serious candidate for the office of the Presidency.
I know this sounds like a smear so I ask you this my friends: ask the other people who were there – ask Henry Paulsen, a man I think should be fired; ask Mr. Bush; ask Reid and Pelosi. Ask them what he said, how he acted – ask them if this is the man they really want answering that 3AM call.

Now that Palin has passed her debate with flying colors, she needs to be out on the attack. Blow open the whole can of worms about Ayers, the whole deal about Fannie and Freddie, and run ADS ADS ADS about that. Set loose the self-described “pitbull with lipstick”–what does SHE have to worry about–that she justifiably fired a police commish who disobeyed the Governor? Big whoop!
On the positive front, she needs to bring home the fact that McCain tried to reform Fannie and Freddie in 2005, and push the Drill Baby Drill plan!
She said that she would spread her wings and soar…now is the time for her to take off!!!

I agree 100 percent. McCain needs to get off his dead ass and fight. And that doesn’t mean letting Palin do it all for him. They have to run hard hitting ads on Obama’s MANY grotesque shortcomings to drive the news cycle.
An old hippy dj in San Francisco used to have the signature line “If you don’t like the news, go out and make some of your own.” McCain needs to make the news with scorched earth attacks on Obama’s scuzzy background and associates in order to bring those into the news because, guess what, the media won’t do it! You’d think the McCain camp would have figured that out by now but apparently they haven’t.
