It was disgusting. And I have just attended the funeral of a family member. Biden was using that for political gain. Disgusting and dispictable!!!!

petunia on October 3, 2008 at 6:30 PM

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

My reaction wasn't disgust - but as someone who lost a best friend and two siblings at a young age, and the last of my parents not long ago, I know that there comes a time when you can talk about it without choking up.

It is my impression that Joe Biden's loss occurred quite some time ago; he seems happy with his current wife, and his life turned out all right. I guess I have a little trouble believing he was sincere, and not using it (as you say) for political purposes.

Okay, I'm having a lot of trouble believing that. Liberals are eating it up, however.

Naomi Wolfe in on Medved arguing Palin was out of her depth. In support of her opinion, Wolfe cites facts which are either wrong or lies. What a joke Wolfe is.

Blake on October 3, 2008 at 4:18 PM

I was listening too. It reminded me of debate class, when one side has to take a position they don't really support. Like most liberals, she has to override her own personally held beliefs (that women really ARE capable of doing this job) to be so critical of Palin's performance.

Hearing her debate an intelligent man like Medved was strange, too. She sounded like a college freshman.

Hillary as a Republican? Joementum's coat tails?

It's an interesting idea, and they DID throw her under the bus. She's gone.

Word on the street is that she's not putting out for Obama (pun intended) because he balked at the idea of putting on the Supreme Court if a slot opens up on it while he's President (assuming he wins of course). Given that and the fact that she was not even considered for the VP slot and you have a woman scorned. After the shafting she got from the Dem Party, I could see Hillary making the jump to the Republican Party. If Hill (and Bill) are nothing else, they are pragmatists.

This is the greatest evidence yet of PUMA impact.

Billary is looking at 2012, 2016, or 2020, etc.

She knows that if she criticizes Palin, she runs the risk of upsetting the PUMAs, a major part of her base.

Not a game-changer, in other words, but a solid foundation for 2012.

Have we officially thrown in the towel on this election then?

Exactly. The Clintons have been around forever. We know how they operate. We know what to expect of/from them. I seriously think that Senator Obama would, at bare minimum, <strike>protect</strike> surrender this country. I do not, nor have I ever, though that of Hillary Clinton.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 3, 2008 at 4:43 PM

I hope you don't mind the slight modifications.

Am I wrong or perhaps feeling punk from MSM poisoning or has the euphoria over Palin's performance been deflated to a sense of dread of our future overlords? Wasn't it just a generation ago that JFK stared down a communist during the month of October? Now there's someone of just about the same political stripe looking to sit at the same desk as JFK. Clinton, either, seems sane and rational to this conservative in contrast to the Great and Powerful Oz.

Perhaps the MSM is in full court press trying to convince us that our political radar is on the fritz and that Obama is actually leading.

I certainly hope not because if we have to watch a President-Elect Obama trying to quiet the chants of O-bam-a! on election night, I'm afraid that it will be a revelation for me that the America that I grew up in no longer exists.

Anyone want to join me in a group reading of Atlas Shrugged?

Dagney Taggart = Sarah Palin?

Is it time to to stop the motor of the world?

Ah, well, who is John Galt?

Time for a martini...

Why is California asking for that loan? Could it be for embryonic stem cell research or all that other trash (like sex change operations and abortions) which Californians consider vitally important?

California has its priorities -- and the rest of the nation has its.

As a Californian, I beg of you -- please don't bail us out -- we need to be taught a bit about fiscal responsibility!

...'he put forward a flawless performance'...yea, Shelob, he knows how to lie very well.
Who is 'better able' to shell out more money for Mexifornia?
That's not a slam-dunk Hilly. Three out of the four candidates are pro-illegals; we still don't know where Sarah stands on social services for Mexicans, etc. She needs to come on down to the border and check it out, (along with most Americans who have no idea what's happening in the Southwest). Barbie Boxer and Lady Di haven't been near the border probably ever.

In a related poll, 98% of respondents said Hillary should come clean about her roles in Whitewater/Madison Guaranty, the subpoenaed billing document stonewalling, Filegate, Travelgate, and the Hsu contributions, and admit she's a pathological liar, whose reckless ambition and lack of real governing/administrative experience (especially in comparison to Sarah Palin's) would make her a poor choice and an extremely dangerous risk as a future candidate.

Odd that the first element of his performance she brought up was the genuineness of his grief over the loss of his wife and child. I think Joe Biden is a pretty guileless guy...
DrSteve on October 3, 2008 at 5:07 PM

I call BS! It’s a private heartache, and he used it publicly to garner sympathy. It’s unmanly and unseemly and demeans the tragic nature of the accident.

It doesn’t remove the tragic element, but the Senator is not above using the story for political advantage. That was the ONLY THING about his performance last night that disgusted me.

JiangxiDad on October 3, 2008 at 6:04 PM

My reaction to that was to be absolutely repulsed! There was no reason for Biden to bring that up!!!! No one said anything about his family situation. He brought it up out of the blue and then showed how he can cry on cue!

Palin said she had not been able to afford health insurance and Biden said, "Well my wife and child died." Like, your experience is nothing... mine is what's important.

It was disgusting. And I have just attended the funeral of a family member. Biden was using that for political gain. Disgusting and dispictable!!!!

I might add that Biden continues to refer to the accident as being caused by a drunk driver. By all accounts, the family of the other driver is distressed by this, as the driver was found innocent of all liability.
If he stopped saying that, I'd take him seriously. But he doesn't, so I don't.

Odd that the first element of his performance she brought up was the genuineness of his grief over the loss of his wife and child. I think Joe Biden is a pretty guileless guy, and went there, sort of in the moment, without trying to capitalize on it in any way

I call BS! It's a private heartache, and he used it publicly to garner sympathy. It's unmanly and unseemly and demeans the tragic nature of the accident.

I might add that Biden continues to refer to the accident as being caused by a drunk driver. By all accounts, the family of the other driver is distressed by this, as the driver was found innocent of all liability. Apparently the Biden vehicle was in the wrong.

It doesn't remove the tragic element, but the Senator is not above using the story for political advantage. That was the ONLY THING about his performance last night that disgusted me.

Faint praise from some honest media put Governor Palin equal or slightly ahead of Biden on the Debate. That means Palin exceeded by miles.

America wants leaders who believe in America and fight for what's important to them. Elitist lifetime politicians want socialism because big government is their goal.

It's as simple as that. Before anyone snarks that McCain is a politician of 26 years let me remind everyone that he first went and served his country and spent five years denied of his right to freedom. He doesn't represent everything the GOP base wants but he sure does know that socialism would bring our economy to a halt.

A new party is going to be started within the next 18 months. It won't be started by the Clintons, but they will become part of it, and become the leading lights of it. It will be aimed at the middle of America, where Bill has always lived, and where Hillary has pretended to live for the last 9 months or so.

Hillary is an Alinsky-ite too … she just wasn’t selected by the Soros/Dean/nutroot/Axelrod puppetmasters.

Let’s don’t go overboard with Clinton nostalgia.

Right on!

If Hillary was the beneficiary of the MSM, we'd see the same brutal nazi tactics from her camp too.

Let's all shut up about how wonderful Hillary is, and just quietly let her and Bill sabotage Obama's election effort, like the Wehrmacht and Red Army killing each other at Stalingrad.

Don't worry. Be happy. :)

So Arnold should just raise the taxes <strike>on the wealthiest 5%</strike> to 95% <strike>of his state</strike> on Hollywood residents. Get busy. Chop. Chop.

That’s what I thought when I heard it.

When someone is busy telling you that Obama is a centrist, you know that they are living in a dream world.

A scary, scary dream world.

It was BORG.

That person was beyond help, already assimilated.

Get used to it people. If Obama wins, the term BORG is our weapon to describe the fanatical, mindless followers that will do his dirty work to intimidate, harrass, bully people into their collective.

Her and Bill still have a torpedo to put in the water and the target ain't McCain/Palin...

Have faith in the vindictiveness of the Clintons, my boy.
