“A sick yenta”: Jackie Mason rips Sarah Silverman over Obama

posted at 3:36 pm on October 3, 2008 by Allahpundit

A Friday double feature, sure to escalate when Silverman inevitably mocks him on some late-night talk show and Mason retaliates with another rambling yet entertaining vlog. The logical solution: A televised debate in Palm Beach. Curmudgeonly conservative grandpas on one side, subversively ironic liberal grandkids on the other. Winner takes 27 electoral votes. Content warning.

Silverman’s hatred of Palin for supposedly being stupid is funny, because Silverman comes across as a very dumb person.

I can’t stand Sarah Silverman. I don’t get the big deal with her…its not like she’s all that attractive, or funny, or, er, anything.

changer1701 on October 3, 2008 at 3:42 PM

Sarah Silverman is cute. Sadly, her looks are the only thing going for her, since her wit and intelligence don’t seem to be planning on showing up this millennium.

So Silverman wants kids to use emotion, lies, and threats in order to get their grandparents to vote for someone they don’t want to vote for. Progressive.

Remember when she was funny? Neither do I.

amerpundit on October 3, 2008 at 3:50 PM

It depresses me that there are intelligent people (intelligent according to tests, anyhow) who think like Sarah Silverman. He’s “the goodest person we’ve ever had as a presidential choice?” He’s “honest?” He’s “kind?”

She hasn’t noticed that the man lies about every single position he’s ever taken, and just about every single person he’s ever known?

She doesn’t know that he has a brother who lives on $20 a year, and he’s never even sent him $50 in the mail?

Last time I met someone who believed like that, I told her how Obama won his first election — by having his lawyers challenge the ballot petitions of all 4 of his opponents. She recognized it as hardball politics. I doubt that I changed her vote, but she went away with at least one less illusion.

Is Romney still sulking? Get him out to Michigan and stump for McCain-Palin. Listen, the chances of Mac-Pali winning are certainly less than 50% right now. If Mac wins, he may only serve one term. Win or lose, Romney would do himself an enormous service by stumping actively. Not only that, Romney would do the country a lot of good explaining the economic mess we are in and why the McCain-Palin approach is far better than Obama-Biden.

Romney could help a lot in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Nevada. And Mac should strongly consider him as Secretary of Treasury (heck he will get 700 billion to play with, which is a heck of a lot of power if they win).

Mr. Joe on October 3, 2008 at 3:52 PM

She has a pretty nice rack. You gotta give her that. Kimmel probably misses her being around when he watches his Man Show reruns.

Look, she is like most of these clowns who understand that if you go along with the venom of the MSM you will get attention. The more you can mix in humor with your hatred the better. Silverman is just another left-wing c&^t who has no idea what feminism really means — she only knows self-promotion and how to gain favor with Obama.

BuckeyeSam on October 3, 2008 at 4:00 PM

…why should someone so smarmily repulsive think that they pull off being cute? I’m also sure that her selective use of expletives make her feel either edgy or genuine, but any old soldier, sailor, airman or marine can tell you, she’s bush-league…and I mean that in the baseball sense…I didn’t mean to imply anything there…well…OK…a bit…just a bit….

It is telling that Ms. Silverman is extolling Obama as kind and the “goodest” candidate for the Presidency in front of a poster that makes him look like El Che….

…and reinforcing that old “we should all think alike as Jews” meme is yet another short-sighted secular Jewish yutz giving a gift to antisemites out there….

“Tell us one good reason to vote for him…you notice she didn’t tell you a reason…she didn’t tell you what ever did for Jews….”

Rabbi Mason…the conscience of the nation….

Puritan1648 on October 3, 2008 at 4:12 PM

Grue in the Attic on October 3, 2008 at 3:51 PM

She said that if McCain wins that she’s going to blame the old, conservative Jews in Florida. Then told the ‘youth’ to hop on a plane and visit the old folks to convince them that Barack isn’t a scary black man….he’s just like them. Mentioned that he’s not muslim and that his name is Hebrew for lightening (which is incorrect, it’s a semitic word which has cognates in semitic languages such as Hebrew, Arabic, Amharic (Ethiopian), etc). Then she said Barack was good for Jews, old people and that he makes a really great brisquette (sp?). She closed by asking people to emotionally manipulate their grandparents by threatening not to visit if Obama loses.

The Mason video was Mason saying that Silverman didn’t give one good reason to vote for Obama. Obama had never done anything for America. McCain had done a lot. Silverman’s a sick yenta. And people should vote for who they think is better for America.

I can’t stand Sarah Silverman. I don’t get the big deal with her…its not like she’s all that attractive, or funny, or, er, anything.

changer1701 on October 3, 2008 at 3:42 PM

…the Jews are represented by a nose…blacks are watching their friends dying…and the Right is supposed to be heartless….

…frankly, I’m surprised that the black guy didn’t walk out as soon as she opened her pie-hole…and that Grandma didn’t give her the “stink-eye”….

…modern so-called commedians all seem to have two things in common: 1) they think that hip is funny, and 2) they think that profanity makes them relevant.

Janeane Garofalo, the only person in Creation less funny than either Chevy Chase or Al Franken, fits into this catagory. Her schtick is “I’m grumpy”…and her bitching doesn’t make her funny…it makes her that drunk girl in the back seat of your car among your passed-out friends who’s just spent two hours coming back from the concert complaining about everything from the band’s performance to the cost of their t-shirts…and who punctuates her endless wagonload of complaints by projectile vomiting on the back of your drivers seat.

OK…Silverman is an ever-so-slightly nicer looking version of this…but, vacuous bitchiness still isn’t hip….

…as to the profanity, and speaking as a connoisseur (and retired semi-pro practicioner), her scatological references (once again) are tiresome in their infantile, schoolyard, Beavis’n'Butthead “that sounds rude” misuse of the opportunity to be both inventive, anatomical and apocalyptically destructive. Profanity isn’t cute…so don’t try to do it cutely…”McCain is a ****stain”?! She gets paid to do this in public?!?!

…maybe she could go back to school…and I’ve heard the McDonalds is always hiring….

Puritan1648 on October 3, 2008 at 4:27 PM

This is the first time I’ve seen this Silverman vid — boy is it stupid. Oh, and racist. For those of you who haven’t seen it, spare yourself. The take home message: Schlep over to Florida and keep your nana (typical white Jewish person) from voting for McCain. She’s a racist. So’s your grandpa.

I stopped watching at 2:57.

Jackie Mason — him I like.

Y-not on October 3, 2008 at 4:29 PM

misterpeasea on October 3, 2008 at 4:34 PM

Actually, I found this video instructive, but not perhaps in
the way that Silverman or the Obama camp might have expected.

They democrats continue to prove that they can’t offer any rational reasons to vote for Obama (Brisket? Circum-super-sized? Remind me which party spends more time pushing stereotypes again), they have to fall back to emotional blackmail and manipulation.

In addition, they consistently take the black vote for granted. I don’t understand how the first part of the segment where the black man walks off the set helps with the Obama story of racial unity. That said, I think this is a great video; it illustrates how the democratic party really feels about blacks in America and hope that it gets shown often to it’s target audience.

It was encouraging to see a black woman in the Luntz focus group after last night’s debate talking up Palin. IMO, it’s people like that who are really living up to the idea of Martin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech in which people are judged “not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

kgs_mvs on October 3, 2008 at 4:36 PM

Oh, and racist.

That’s part of her “act.” But it doesn’t work so well in this context: “Vote Obama: It’s what all the cool bigots are doing!”

By the way, I seem to recall a bunch of Jews voting for someone named “Barak” not too long ago….

Why do the libs get to stereotype people without being called out? You know, it’s OK to say that most blacks like track suits, Cadillacs and all of their friends are dying? But dammnit, don’t use that same sort of logic at the airport security line!

Hey I just discovered something! Older people and Muslim extremists are just alike! All of their friends are dying and they both get pulled out of line for a pat-down at the airport! When do I get my TV show?

GarandFan on October 3, 2008 at 7:00 PM

SS was honest in her uber-ignorant and ‘edgy’ kinda way and let us know–for sure–what we knew already and that is they don’t use facts, (none of them work in their favor), they use threats and grade school insults. The ending was particularly descriptive of her infantile poo-poo mindset.
God Bless Jackie Mason, I wish there were more conservative Jews than liberal Jews, (which never made sense to me except to say hat they are exceedingly self-loathing), it could save the country.
Thanks frozen Tex. I like facts, not slang references.

By the way, Jackie is awesome! I loved him on Penn and Teller’s gun control episode, and when he spoke out in defense of Mitt during the primaries.

thecountofincognito on October 3, 2008 at 7:41 PM

It took awhile, but someone finally commented on the racist, stereotypical remarks she made throughout this video. Really, how do they get away with it? And, what was the point of having the black man, who then walked away after she tried to equate blacks and old, retired Jews in Florida? What did I miss there?

The whole thing was just weird and it says a lot about the idiot liberals supporting Obama.

Both video’s were funny.

In a few topics here before, the commenter’s on the right always made the point that they have a better sense of humor then the left does. That meme has been deep-six’ed in this thread.

Even though I didn’t agree with Mason I still found his video very funny. Funnier then Silverman’s.

Meh. I think Silverman is cute and funny. Not very impressed with this effort. Jackie rips her to shreds.

I hope lots of people watch both, as Jackie’s is certainly more persuasive.

BTW, what was that subliminal thing flying across the bottom of Jackie’s? I can’t seem to freeze it at the right time to get a clean look at it.

connertown on October 4, 2008 at 7:16 AM

I actually enjoy Sarah Silverman, and maybe because I understand her humor.

Unfortunately for her, it really works against her when she campaigns like this.

Her humor, if you guys haven’t figured it out, is to be the cute, ditzy, thinks-she-knows-it-all, child-lost-among-adults type. She’s the five year old, living in the realm of grownups, who speaks her mind without the assistance of a filter. Whatever she thinks, she says; whatever she wants to do, she does. No discipline, no conscience, no superego to burden her.

In other words, she’s the idiot we all laugh at, and sometimes finds truth when there was no truth really to be found. In many respects, she’s like the female version of Jackass.

Moving from her fictional persona into this one, I found it funny, but overall working against her efforts. Do you really want a five year old telling you how to vote? Do you really want someone whose main enjoyment in life is pointing a stick with poop on the end of it at passing strangers to support your candidate?

Yeah, me neither.

McCain’s best answer is to simply tell young undecided voters, “Sarah Silverman thinks it would be a really good idea to vote for Obama. And she wants you all to have doody-sticks.” That’s it. He’d have their vote.

I know I should hold off on commenting until I hear Jackie’s response–but still, I don’t think a response needs to be made. If the “serious” Sarah Silverman appeared on YouTube or TV or wherever, and said, flatly, “No, I’m really a McCain supporter”, honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked in the least.

Jackie, you should live and be well.
Sarah, you should fall in a well. You dishonor your beautiful Hebrew name.

The Sarah Silverman ad for Barack Obama is disgusting and offensive to jewish tradition. The idea that you should abandon your grandparents over a presidential vote is morally evil. What is she saying, “Agree with me or I’ll let you die”? She may call herself a comedienne but allowing harm to come to another person, especially a member of your own family who has loved and cared for you and who now deserves your love and respect, is sick beyond belief. The Jewish Council for Education & Research should retract the ad. It is a total disgrace to their organization.

Someone please explain why, in this day and age, any Jew who cares about Israel would even consider voting for Obama.

Why is the name Sarah Silverman familiar? Didn’t she have a TV show that bombed or something? I watch so little TV I wouldn’t know for sure.

I saw her show a few times, it was funny as hell. She pretty much makes fun of everything and everybody.
