Open thread: Armageddon

A few people have e-mailed to say that the livestream in Ed’s open thread complicates comment discussion by slowing refresh times, so here’s a no-frills alternative. Take your pick.

While we wait for the main event, “enjoy” the last installment in her series with Couric. They saved a doozy for the finale.

Game face!

Rove needs to write these factual errors up for a WSJ editorial tomorrow!

Biden didn’t know either or he would have corrected her. Like I said. Gaff-Tie

I’ll go back too, (I always watch the Fox rerun) but I don’t think you’re incorrect. I just don’t think that was her whole answer.

It’s your floor: whine away.

Gee, thanks Jaibones, I always wanted the whole floor to myself. I really only have one more cup of ‘whine’…

See, I meet the guy during the Aviation Brief when the 101 replaced us and I couldn’t even spell his name.

On MSNBC, I noticed MadCow did hit it but of course skipped the fact Joe didn’t know.

she is a rep from florida and doesn’t even know anything about tax revenue.

anna on October 2, 2008 at 11:35 PM

Look, the plain fact is Palin won this debate on both substance and style. The ones who want to say Biden won ‘on points’ are missing everything about national debates. That is, the candidate who ‘connects’ with the average voter, makes that grasp-in-grasp connection is always the clear winner.

Sarah Palin is a hero to me. A true American hero. Why? Because she’s taken the hardest hits of any top level candidate in any election season with a smile on her face and then when push comes to shove, when the chips are down, she has the gumption to say that the Democrats plan in Iraq is ‘The white flag of surrender’. There is no other way to look at this!

Dude, this is amazing. The GF and me too. I was hoping he’d be trhe top. I said, as did my wonkette that McCain will absolutely go with him as VP. I heard on the golfcourse from my very conservative democratic friends wife via blackberry it was Palin. Added strokes to my game. (Look, that was a lie, I suck at golf) But, I have learned to love that woman. Not in the biblical sense, but if she came keep it up, I think it’ll work.

Not at all. I’m not opposed to her per se, it’s the timing.

I hope McCain survives his first ok. I wouldn’t want Palin to have to step in before she’s ready.

Fair enough. Very candid you are.

At any rate, the wonkette of the house was more intuned to the tenor of the debate than me. She actually was excited by the time I got back from golfing that day. Tonight though, it’s a twofer because she isn’t POed at all any more. She thought Palin did good from the start. I’d say she still took a few to get out of the blocks. Biden did come out early very well.

hawkdriver on October 2, 2008 at 11:58 PM

Here’s the thing: just like when McCain got the Red State Update endorsement (“Fuc* it, McCain…”), and people all over here wanted to scream about Huck and Mitt and Ron Paul, and kill people and blow things up – it was all crap. Once we pick someone, it’s just an us vs them sort of thing.

So here we are, and we can talk about whether Dolly throwing out all that populist crap and Gorebal crap is actually conservatism or not, sure we can.

But just like you did later, we need to put our cards on the table first, I think. There is not one tiny weakness that the Governor has, that those two Dem Fairies don’t have in Spades, if you’ll pardon the expression. So we can say that beating up Wall Street is kind of stupid, but guess what? Not only are the Donks slaughtering them and promising to gut their taxable income, but they’re also getting the lion’s share of Wall Street money for the campaign!

Not sure what my point was.

Never mind. Fuc* Wall Street…

She took a knife and gutted Biden on stage and his bowels fell out for all to see. Then she wiped away the blood from her knife with a smile, turned back to ol Joe who stood with that “deer in the spotlight look” and said, “You’re a nice man Joe and I respect you.”

Just got to a computer after going to a debate watching party that there was no “politic” way of avoiding. All participants agreed that Sarah won hands down, Ifell was the model moderator (impartial therefore invisible) and Biden was “approachable enough”. (I thought he looked lumpish and toothy, but what would I think. I’m a partisan).

hawkdriver on October 3, 2008 at 12:14 AM

My only complaint about Ifill was the horrible suit she was wearing.

However, considering she’s in the tank, how bad she could have been, and how Palin still hit it out of the park, I’ll let it slide.

That’s probably a better gauge then here because all the Inside the Beltway folks are impressed with Sen. Biden’s senate talk. They say he has a better grasp of “the facts” but it’s just gum flapping. And good grief he’s been there a thirty years, which I consider a drawback.

Palin did a really nice job. I haven’t enjoyed a debate so much since Cheney destroyed John Edwards. Speaking of Cheney, WTF was with that ‘Darth Cheney’ riff that Biden went on? Guess he had to throw some red meat to the fruit cake wing of the left since they probably got a bit lost with all the big words after the opening statements.
If I was Cheney, I would find that lack of faith..disturbing. I think he ought to put the force choke hold on Biden long enough to make his plugs pop out of his head. Disrepectful.
