A few people have e-mailed to say that the livestream in Ed’s open thread complicates comment discussion by slowing refresh times, so here’s a no-frills alternative. Take your pick.

While we wait for the main event, “enjoy” the last installment in her series with Couric. They saved a doozy for the finale.

Game face!

BTW, that’s like the fourth time he’s messed up Obama’s name.

amerpundit on October 2, 2008 at 10:32 PM

Biden:Doom and Gloom!
Sarah: I’m proud of America.

Nelsa on October 2, 2008 at 10:32 PM

gator70 on October 2, 2008 at 10:30 PM

Jaibones on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

Joe Biden needs to get back up after tonight!

Ordinary1 on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

Vote on Drudge!!!!

dugan on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

My God, Sarah is amazing. I always believed she was excellent, but this was an outstanding performance. She just hit it out of the park with her closing statements. Positive. Patriotic. Honest. Sincere.

Stark contrast with the leftists.

Joe, your side is working to enslave us all. And we all know it.

techno_barbarian on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

deep hole? he and obama don’t seem none the worse for wear.

no mortgages to deadbeats.

save up for your kid’s college, or tell them to get a job.

the left is all about image, not success. just like today’s youth.

ah, the “God Bless” line. the left has be reassure itself.

madmonkphotog on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

*irf*

Sincerity is not Joe’s forte.

yo on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

The “God protect our troops” sounded trite by Biden. Won’t sell.

Tommygun on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

Time to take the “Flip the ticket!” signs back out of the closet.

econavenger on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

She did great, better than I and probably most people expected. Not sure she won big, or how the MSM will spin it, but it was definitely a moral victory. She certainly had more memorable lines.

Way past my bedtime. Keep having fun guys!

EnglishMike on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

If you wanted to protect the truths, you wouldn’t screwed around on funding for them.

Blake on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

DON’T QUESTION MOTIVES!!!

That is PRECISELY why Washington is the problem, not the solution, Joe.

What an absolute idiot.

LegendHasIt on October 2, 2008 at 10:29 PM

Exactly. The motives are what is behind the problem; behind the absolute inability for Congress to get anything done and it has nevver been more apparent than during the past 2 years under Pelosi and Reid.

Connie on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

Hey Joe, how much for this used car?????

PaCadle on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

Palin held help better then a lot of pundits and people thought she would. Can’t wait to see what the poll’s and pundit’s say now.

Chimpy on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

El_Terrible on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

InTheBellyoftheBeast on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

Did he say “selfishly” be with the troops? WTF. We’re the good guys.

BuckeyeSam on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

OUTRAGE! Biden invoked God for protection over the troops! What outragious Alaskan religion is this?!

Spirit of 1776 on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

I liked Joe’s “tearful moment”.

GarandFan on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

crr6 on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

HE KEEPS GETTING THE LAST WORD!

unmeritedfavor on October 2, 2008 at 10:30 PM

That’s okay – because she sounds hopeful, positive, and full of American pride.

He keeps talking about getting knocked down and having to get up, and climbing out of a hole.

Who would you rather follow?

capitalist piglet on October 2, 2008 at 10:33 PM

I can’t wait to see how this gets spinned into a Palin loss…gonna be entertaining, that.

Bob's Kid on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

MAC, its up to you boss, your #2 has done everything she can for you

james23 on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

I love her.

carbon_footprint on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

I thought the presidential debate was a wash and kinda boring, but That wasn’t really a close call. Palin did very well.

forest on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

It’s like the end of Family Feud.

yo on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

Blake on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

She was terrific!!!!!!
I was so afraid to watch and I didn’t hear most of Biden’s because I had to see a football game. But heard most of her comments.

Bambi on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

I am waiting for the One to appear, make Aw-fil walk, and raise Christopher Reeve from the dead. That man can go anything.

cyclown on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

Screw the pundits – Sarah beat him. She beat him.

dugan on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

And why did Biden say we need to get back up?

BuckeyeSam on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Palin: A+
Biden: C+

carbon_footprint on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

It was amazing how different they were. She’s positive, positive, positive…and he’s negative, negative, negative.

Hehe… to Gwen, “Bless your heart.”

tickleddragon on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

*channeling the Drive-By media*

Comrades: tonight the Palin woman made a valiant effort but it was in vain. Our hero, Joe Biden, annihilated her in the debate. No details are necessary….take our word for it. The One will progress toward victory.

ManlyRash on October 2, 2008

Yeah yeah yeah.

C’mon Manly, can’t we revel just a moment?

JonPrichard on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Was that Mel Brooks?

SoulGlo on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

You stay classy, debate organizers. Nice job leaving Palin’s mic on after the debate.

alflauren on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Biden, five minutes after the debate: “S***, I can’t believe I lost to that b****!”

newton on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Bless your heart, Gwen…

Tzetzes on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

OK, before the polls and spin come out, we know what we saw. Palin dominated this night, from start to finish. She had zingers, jokes, and appealed to Americans. Biden droned on and on and looked like an ass.

El_Terrible on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Sooo…who won? Both had gaffes, but who really won this?

lsutiger on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Governor Sarah Palin won.

Hands down.

Talon on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

I love Sarah :). Why are we wasting her on this hopeless election?

Illinidiva on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

I can’t wait to see how this gets spinned into a Palin loss…gonna be entertaining, that.

Bob’s Kid on October 2, 2008 at 10:34 PM

It can’t be. If anything, she came out with a slight edge. Everything about Sarah was forward-looking. Everything with Biden was blaming.

Connie on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Why does he keep touching her? Sexual harassment!

CookeyD on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Dr. Conservative on October 2, 2008 at 10:36 PM

That kicked ass. I feel like my team just won the SuperBowl. Palinmania!

Say you liked it KP :)

Spirit of 1776 on October 2, 2008 at 10:36 PM

Biden did not display command of issues. His explanation of Obama’s stance on Pakisan was a disaster among other head scratchers.

And what’s a Bosniac?

forest on October 2, 2008 at 10:36 PM

That Biden crying moment was a real classic.

progressoverpeace on October 2, 2008 at 10:36 PM

Palin wins, Parker lost.

Spirit of 1776 on October 2, 2008 at 10:37 PM

This woman comes through in the clutch. Mort just said she won.

CanadianGuy on October 2, 2008 at 10:37 PM

WTF????????????????

He goes first ALL NIGHT LONG and now she has to give her final statement FIRST?

HE KEEPS GETTING THE LAST WORD!

unmeritedfavor on October 2, 2008 at 10:30 PM

Yes! Yes! Ifill cut Palin off at least once, and allowed Biden to go on and on.

Palin: A+
Biden: C+

carbon_footprint on October 2, 2008 at 10:35 PM

Cool. I’ll say…

Palin: A-
Biden: B

dugan on October 2, 2008 at 10:37 PM

Wow — even Kondrake says she did very well!

CanuckInPA on October 2, 2008 at 10:37 PM

I noticed Biden got pretty much two closing statements, once again got the last word (as he did pretty much every other, including first words), and then lied AGAIN in his closing statement to boot.

And he still lost.

amkun on October 2, 2008 at 10:38 PM

Wow — even Kondrake says she did very well!

CanuckInPA on October 2, 2008 at 10:37 PM

Kondrake gave her the edge.

Connie on October 2, 2008 at 10:38 PM

I’m extremely happy too, Mr. Kristol.

Spirit of 1776 on October 2, 2008 at 10:38 PM

KP: She didn’t make any gaffes.

carbon_footprint on October 2, 2008 at 10:38 PM

It can’t be. If anything, she came out with a slight edge. Everything about Sarah was forward-looking. Everything with Biden was blaming.

Totally agreed, but the contortions of those trying to make it a loss for her will be what’s entertaining. Like watching a circus.

Bob's Kid on October 2, 2008 at 10:38 PM

ahem… what did she say about the MSM?

unmeritedfavor on October 2, 2008 at 10:38 PM

Over.

1GooDDaDDy on October 2, 2008 at 10:39 PM

Gee I remember during the Bork and Clarence Thomas hearings the motives of these fine nominees were certainly questioned viciously by Biden, Kennedy and other democrats on the Judiciary Committee. Another Biden whopper. And I am sure that Biden had harsh words for Sen. Jesse Helms throughout the eighties. It will be a little research project but I am sure some Bidden nuggets will turn up from lexisnexis.

eaglewingz08 on October 2, 2008 at 10:39 PM

I’ve got Palin FEVAAHH again!

Spirit of 1776 on October 2, 2008 at 10:40 PM

Tremble in fear, leftists. America got a straight, unfiltered message and they’re going to respond positively and enthusiastically to that.
