A few people have e-mailed to say that the livestream in Ed’s open thread complicates comment discussion by slowing refresh times, so here’s a no-frills alternative. Take your pick.

While we wait for the main event, “enjoy” the last installment in her series with Couric. They saved a doozy for the finale.

Game face!

I love that picture!

I’m sad I work evenings…

Give him hell Sarah!

rplat on October 2, 2008 at 8:31 PM

Oh please. If anyone is to blame for the death of John McCain’s campaign, it’s McCain himself. I’ve come to the point where as much as I despise Obama, I’m utterly and completely disappointed in John McCain. He’s done everything wrong lately, and I hope he finds comfort in his bipartisan integrity.

anniekc on October 2, 2008 at 8:31 PM

She will be terrific tonight, but I am afraid that Johnny Mac blew it with this bailout bill (not insisting on a pro growth bill) and I am really worried, esp. with voter fraud rampant in Ohio. As for tonight, she will hit a 3 run homer to right center.

JammieWearingFool on October 2, 2008 at 8:33 PM

So this ain’t the end -
I saw you again today
I had to turn my heart away
Smiled like the sun -
Kisses for real
And tales – it never fails!

You lying so low in the weeds
I bet you gonna ambush me
You’d have me down down down down on my knees
Now wouldn’t you, barracuda?

Back over time we were all
Trying for free
You met the porpoise and me
No right no wrong, selling a song-
A name, whisper game.

If the real thing don’t do the trick
You better make up something quick
You gonna burn burn burn burn it to the wick
Ooooooh, barracuda?

Sell me sell you the porpoise said
Dive down deep down to save my head
You…i think you got the blues too.

All that night and all the next
Swam without looking back
Made for the western pools – silly fools!

If the real thing don’t do the trick
No, you better make up something quick
You gonna burn burn burn burn it to the wick
Ooooooohhhh, barra barracuda.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh.

amerpundit on October 2, 2008 at 8:35 PM

They should play that song at the beginning of the debate, and have Biden rise through the floor a la Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, with Sarah in an Uncle Sam top hat…

JetBoy on October 2, 2008 at 8:35 PM

Everyone at work is excited, and nervous, for Sarah to do well. Everyone is praying for her as well!!! We are with you Sarahcuda.

Ordinary1 on October 2, 2008 at 8:37 PM

Go ‘Cuda… we love Sarah… who’s that guy she’s debating?

IntheNet on October 2, 2008 at 8:37 PM

Ok, the first minute or so of this clip is what I feel like as I anticipate the debate. Imagine them yelling “PALIN!” and you’re golden. This is your time to shine, Sarah, don’t hold back:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBCjH5BKU4A&feature=related

Bishop on October 2, 2008 at 8:39 PM

End times. Yeah, pretty much.

McCain had, what, three planes flame out on him? Well, maybe they’ll be a lot of math questions.

Anyway, this is really unfair to Palin to place this much pressure on her.

I think the smart thing for her is not to attack Biden or Obama but to just promote, promote, promote McCain and reform. Don’t even acknowledge Biden or Obama. Stick to script, don’t answer questions and just give a reform/change narrative.

SteveMG on October 2, 2008 at 8:39 PM

I feel a disaster coming on tonight. I’ve never wanted to be more wrong in my life.

church on October 2, 2008 at 8:40 PM

I did my drinking earlier tonight after I made the mistake of watching Shep, “hysterical diva” Smith, and now I have a bit of a headache. I adore Sarah, I thought she would be our savior, she brought me from cold to McCain, to almost warm, and I’m just so incredibly disappointed in this campaign. I just despise Obama, but I’m so disgusted in McCain. Where has he been? Napping every afternoon?
Harumph. The future looks grim.

anniekc on October 2, 2008 at 8:40 PM

I hope Biden does better than FDR did in 1929 on his tv appearance after that Stock Market Crash.

I want her to come out and dominate domestic policy. Show that she has done more productive things for her constituents then Obama did for his thug pals or Biden did for 7/11 owners.

Get that O’Reilly-Barney Frank dustup video. That’s a keeper.

JammieWearingFool on October 2, 2008 at 8:33 PM

I appreciated the effort by O’Reilly, but he kind of whiffed on it. It was great that he brought Barney Frank to start addressing his huge culpability in the sub-prime disaster, but he tried to hit him on the mildest charges. I still appreciate that O’Reilly started the ball rolling over Frank.

If only he had used the “I’d like to roll the dice …” comment, it would have been game-over. Or just read the Wall Street Journal list. But, I think he did open it up, and his screaming is going to make sure that it seeps into the MSM, I think.

progressoverpeace on October 2, 2008 at 8:43 PM

Anywhere where the debate is being live streamed?

cmptrnerd on October 2, 2008 at 8:43 PM

I can’t see how Palin is going to hold up against Biden when she couldn’t hold her own with Katie Couric. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be crying on election day. I hope this is just the media making me feel so dispirited. But I’m afraid it’s not.

church on October 2, 2008 at 8:43 PM

Never fear. Just heard off the wire that Fred! is parked in front of the location in his red truck.

If I was Mccain id had protested vehemently until there was stipulation that barney frank step down and replace him with 2 dems and 2 repubs to oversee the future of fannie and freddie.

I hope Biden gets loaded before the debate and sings The Villages song.

V15J on October 2, 2008 at 8:44 PM

by the way, imagine how pissed you would be if you married that brunette Heart chick. She was good looking. Probably a fire cat in bed being a rocker and all….and then the broad gains like 400 pounds…..no exaggeration either. I mean…how the HELL did she do that?

she was BETTER looking than her sister but her sister stayed thin and she gained a few hundred pounds.

Its better to think about these things than about the inevitable president obama (which the dumb ass republicans deserve).

What I find sad is that no matter how bad she does, 90% of the people on here will call it an epic win for her. And I also find it sad that no matter how good she does, 100% of liberals will say that Biden won.

Bradky on October 2, 2008 at 8:49 PM

There is a chance that OBama IS peaking too soon.

SouthernGent on October 2, 2008 at 8:49 PM

Down here in New Zealand our media (leftish but not to the U.S. extent) has been pumping up Palin’s “formidable” debating skills while dousing expectations for Biden, emphasing he is prone to gaffes. (About the only time those will be noted.) Either way they win.

cornwall on October 2, 2008 at 8:49 PM

O’Reilly/Frank was entertaining but what did we learn?

Frank is too skilled at debating tactics to be taken on directly. He’ll mention a statement here or there that he made critical of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac while ignoring the twenty statements and policies he promoted that contributed to the problem. That’s his act; and he’s good at it.

You have to build a case against him and one or two soundbites won’t do it.

SteveMG on October 2, 2008 at 8:49 PM

You know- as much as I dislike Dick Morris, sometimes he makes sense. What IS wrong with Mccain? Why did he insist on voting yes on the bailout, WITHOUT trashing the culprits behind it? Everytime I heard him speak of the bill, he was as low key as he could be. pitiful. wrong. sad.

anniekc on October 2, 2008 at 8:50 PM

The duck-hunting accident is her biggest criticism of Cheney? That says a lot about the type of VP she will be.

muyoso on October 2, 2008 at 8:47 PM

I’m with Morris. This debate is only about Palin’s political career. I’ll add that if she’s not good, it just confirms what little people are thinking about McCain. If she’s good or better, it turns the spotlight back on McCain and raises the question, “What’s his problem?”

BuckeyeSam on October 2, 2008 at 8:52 PM

Rip on Biden I mean.

I usually do debates and such with either VodkaPundit

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/drunkblogging-the-vp-debate/

or PoliPundit

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/drunkblogging-the-vp-debate/

No offense to HA, but I’ve grown used to the pace of the other two sites. Vodka keeps the commentary going and you can opine as you go along in a separate, so it’s easier to do both.
