New McCain ad: Just a reminder that Biden’s an idiot
posted at 1:35 pm on October 2, 2008 by Allahpundit
Think of this as the opening ceremony to tonight’s Olympics, with Greasy Joe as the torchbearer who somehow manages to set himself on fire. Tapper makes a nice catch at ABC: The ‘Cuda is already wielding talking points about Biden ripping on Obama during the primaries for his vote to defund the war. Expect to see that tonight when the subject turns to Iraq in an attempt to bait him into losing his cool. Everyone knows that JB can BS his way through the Q&A; the challenge for him lies simply in not coming off like an abject jackass. If he can’t manage that for 90 minutes, he deserves to be replaced by Hillary.

Blowback

Love it! Great ad.

When I see this ad… I wonder if it isn’t primarily intended to get inside Joe Biden’s head.ClintACK on October 2, 2008 at 2:05 PM
LOL, right, during the debate tonight.
“John McCain….get…out..of…my…head!!!”

Geez, no offense pal, but why is the Republican party filled with so many Debbie Downers?
New Contest: Pick the best complaint that McCain is finally hitting back like most of us want him to.
1. “Oh Geez, the media will really go nuts about that ad.”
2. “Why do we have to stoop to their level?”
3. “But McCain promised to not go negative!”
4. “Why can’t we just stick with the issues?”
5. “Why are all the good mccain ads web ads?” (Thanks Lorien) :-)
Hit em hard, hard, hard…
It’s the media, stupid! (not you Sergi)

By the way, Ann Coulter has a good point about Biden today.
She often annoys me, but other times she can be right on.

Now these are the kind of McCain ads I’ve been waiting to see. (Though I wonder how many will get the “stand up” reference?)

Crazy comments like that are why China blocks the internets. Copywhat?
saint kansas on October 2, 2008 at 2:14 PM
how about a “When I was 8″ ad
Begin with Obama saying that his relationship with Ayers is not a problem because Ayers did what he did when he was 8.
Then go to an actor, “when I was 8, Hitler perpetrated the holocaust… (another actor) when I was 8 another did this… (another actor) when I was 8 another terrible figure did that… and finally a 15 year old saying, when I was 8 Bin Laden orchestrated 9/11.
The close would be, “and I would never, (other actor) never, (other actor) never, be friendly with him.
Thank me.

My question is where are any of these ads being shown?
On the local NBC affiliate, Channel 5 in Chicago, they are showing nothing but Democratic ads for local races. You will very rarely if ever see a Republican ad being shown on that station. I have written to them a number of times asking for an explanation, but have never gotten a reply back. I once called the station and I was told that “someone would get back with me”. Right. Never happened. NBC Channel 5 in Chicago is pretty much toting the line for NBC itself, namely being the National Barack Channel.
So don’t expect any of these ads like this one here to pop up on that station anytime soon.
pilamaye on October 2, 2008 at 2:18 PM
why would mccain waste money in illinois, much less chicago?
lorien1973 on October 2, 2008 at 2:20 PM
McCain needs to follow up with ads showing Obama’s “bitter, clingy” remarks, as well as multiple ads showing his relationship to Ayers, Rezko and Rev. Wright. If he can’t stomach going negative (truthful), he deserves to lose.
Physics Geek on October 2, 2008 at 2:20 PM
Dude, that would be an effective ad!

Part of me will be a little disappointed if he doesn’t get elected. I enjoy laughing at him.

I have a feeling the RNC and McCain are saving quite a bit of money for huge buys in october, probably the last few weeks. But who knows.
These past few weeks have been a huge letdown.
There is simply too much unspent ammo not to start loadin up the howitzers.
lorien1973 on October 2, 2008 at 2:25 PM
What is with the sockpuppet bigots here lately. Man, if you’re a lib sockpuppeting, it’s not fair because there aren’t any regular folks who post here that are like that. If you really feel what you’re saying is accurate, you need some help.
hawkdriver on October 2, 2008 at 2:26 PM
Ha, no way Dems even think about replacing Biden with Hillary now that the Palin bounce is supposedly gone.

I’ll donate money to get that ad made. Brilliant!

It’s a nice ad – know what would be better? One minute from John McCain- tomorrow – looking at Camera:
“I supported the bailout bill that just passed out of Congress. As you know, I suspended my campaign and went to Washington to get this done – while Obama went to the gym and practiced for the debate.
What you may not know is that this bill is critical to our country and our economy – it had to pass; but it has a lot of bad things in it.
I disapprove of many of them – but political pork is the price of getting something done in a congress controlled by democrats. No pork, no progress; that’s their attitude – so I worked to buy their votes, and not for me, for the country.
On November 4th it’ll be your turn. Throw them out – give me people I can work with – and don’t do it for me, do it for your country.

Seriously, hawkdriver, I’ve noticed an uptick in racially bigoted comments on HA, coinciding with the gnashing of teeth since the bailout stuff and first debate. I guess people are cracking under the stress.
Y-not on October 2, 2008 at 2:34 PM
Great idea. E-mail that to Ed, AP, The Boss and Team McCain. That would be some powerful stuff.

yeah, I’d be more inclined to go with the pupsockets. I’ve seen them before on other sites. Some MO. They come on and try to get “normal” posters to join in the chorus. Then or course they come back as some other pupsocket and critisize the comments the regulars make.
hawkdriver on October 2, 2008 at 2:38 PM
Geez, “same” MO
hawkdriver on October 2, 2008 at 2:39 PM
Go away. No one’s buying what you’re selling, “Mr. Hateful conservative”.

A quote from Biden in 2002.
Now, only if he had stuck with that.
Count to 10 on October 2, 2008 at 2:40 PM
Did anyone catch Rush’s opening for Palin tonight?
Palin comes out and says:
“Ms. Ifill, I want to congratulate you on your new upcoming book on Barack Obama and I promise not to ask you to stand up.”
Ifill in going to be in a wheelchair since she broke her ankle.
carbon_footprint on October 2, 2008 at 2:41 PM
Senator Biden has suffered two brain aneurysms, but because conservatives recognize the line between hardball politics and vile behavior, that fact is never used against him. So, everything else is on the table.

I disagree. The dems are actively involved in decimating the black population.
And I find most Hispanics to be very fine folk. They are big on family values and appreciate the opportunities this country provides.

Thank you so much for the links!
Hopefully she actually is interested in reading and learning more about it though she’s a staunch Obama supporter, so I won’t hold my breath.
Still, I didn’t want to allow it to be pinned on Bush and the evil rich without at least trying to inject some actual facts into the discussion.

Too late. Too late.
Where was this Biden gaffe ad two-3 weeks ago when the press was all over Palin?
The McCain team suddenly seems to be having problems reacting fast enough to events. Something happened in the campaign HQ.
I figure by about Nov. 1 McCain will have an ad ready regarding the Democrats, Obama, Fannie & Freddie and tying it to the financial crisis.
(Gloom.)
albill on October 2, 2008 at 3:03 PM
Foxnews is now reporting that McCain is basically giving up on Michigan.

Liberty or Death on October 2, 2008 at 3:30 PM
Great. Kwame Kilpatrick screwed up Detroit and is in jail. The Democratic governor has created a microcosm of Obamism in that state. And McCain can’t make a serious run? Geez, he blew that one.

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
Why was this left out?
Too bad Palin won’t ask Joe what he meant.

You know, I’ll bet if this guy didn’t have any kind of influence on how my life goes, he’d probably be a pretty fun guy to have a beer with. He seems pretty congenial. Too bad that congeniality is wasted on bad politics.
