McCain camp: She did it

They sound happy, in a pro forma sort of way.

“Tonight, Governor Palin proved beyond any doubt that she is ready to lead as Vice President of the United States. She won this debate, putting Joe Biden on defense on energy, foreign policy, taxes and the definition of change. Governor Palin laid bare Barack Obama’s record of voting to raise taxes, opposing the surge in Iraq, and proposing to meet unconditionally with the leaders of state sponsors of terror. The differences between the Obama-Biden ticket and the McCain-Palin ticket could not have been clearer. The American people saw stark contrasts in style and worldview. They saw Joe Biden, a Washington insider and a 36-year Senator, and Governor Palin, a Washington outsider and a maverick reformer. Governor Palin was direct, forceful and a breath of fresh air.” –Jill Hazelbaker, McCain-Palin 2008 Communications Director

Current Drudge poll numbers: Palin 74%, Biden 24%. Vote it out!

Who else here thinks she was sandbagging for her last two TV interviews so she could ‘rope-a-dope’ Biden tonight?

locomotivebreath1901 on October 2, 2008 at 11:02 PM

I was thinking that. And they have kept her under wraps. Betting that she will be unleashed like a hound out of hell for the next 30 days.

Let Sarah be Sarah…

Time for her to do an hour at the Southern Command.

In studio.

phreshone on October 2, 2008 at 11:05 PM

Still waiting for Armageddon?

Armageddon real tired of this gloom and doom conservatism.

That said, I did a whole lotta praying before and during the debate. I see there were some nods here to Sean Hannity, but Sarahcuda heard Newt’s admonition to run against Washington, D.C. and that’s a winning strategy.

Terrie on October 2, 2008 at 11:05 PM

Why on earth spend two seconds with Tweedledee and Tweedledum of PMSNBC?

Mr_Magoo on October 2, 2008 at 11:05 PM

SarahCuda Rocks! I was a little doubtful after the Couric Interview, but maybe it was a psyops measure from the McCain campaign. Don’t give away too many views of the candidate before the debate, so Biden will not be able to anticipate her answers, and although there was the possibility it might make her look unintelligent, that would cause the natural arrogance in the Obama campaign to believe it would be a cakewalk. Then Sarah comes out with all guns blazing and Joe doesn’t know what hit him!

I hope Allah has gotten his stones back. I wonder what Kathleen Parker Peggy Noonan and David Frum are saying now!

eaglewingz08 on October 2, 2008 at 11:05 PM

Sarah did just fine, but it wasn’t quite a game changer.

That said, we should begin to see the polls tighten up now.

Hey Maverick, the ball’s in your court. Don’t blow it.

CliffHanger on October 2, 2008 at 11:05 PM

OHMYGOD! Krauthammer: Sarah Palin did extremely well.

Pianobuff on October 2, 2008 at 11:05 PM

The only thing that has me upset about Sarah’s performance is how many low-hanging curve balls (Rush’s phrase) she let go by.
Corporate taxation: They provide JOBS! Corporations go oversease because of lower taxes: Lost JOBS!

Her frequent reference to the evil greedy Wall Street folks: Nothing about the democrats responsibility for 95% of the problem.

So many opportunities lost because of McCain’s “Can’t we just get along” policy.

I would like to see the times.

I would bet Biden got far more time.

Ifell seemed to be selling her book. Giving Biden time while refusing Palin time. Paying little attention to the agreed upon format 90 – 90 then 120 (which she didn’t do for the most part).

Steveangell on October 2, 2008 at 11:06 PM

Big shocker by Olby. Palin strayed from the topic being discussed. Wow. Biden never did that! Maybe Palin is a politician after all. Isn’t that a good thing?

Look, I think people saw a real person an average person; who happens to be a Governor and can help fix/reform what we/I hate! And I liked her all over again. She embodies change, Barack just uses it to hide Alinsky.

Newt is so far ahead of us all. He said and wrote, “Real Change, Requires Real Change. Real Change resides in the Republican ranks now.

Couple this performance with the record breaking GOP fundraising…..LMAO! I cant wait til the Elections

Well, she didn’t do as badly as I feared and whatever happened to the fighter Biden.

Still, I don’t think that hellhole known as Washington DC is good enough for her. Let her stay in Alaska where she can really implement change. Washington DC is full of ghouls like Joe Biden and no way is it going to change.

terryannonline on October 2, 2008 at 11:10 PM

“They saw Joe Biden, a Washington insider and a 36-year Senator” and heard him spin and lie like most career politicians do, but Joe did it his way.
DrW: Obama spun that a couple of different ways once he made that gaffe, so it depends on which position you choose to focus on. Changing positions keeps the truth about Obama nice and slippery. Whatever is repeated the most becomes the truth.

locomotivebreath1901 on October 2, 2008 at 11:02 PM

I had been mulling that over for the last few days as well. What I have seen of the Couric interviews seemed intentionally awkward. I think there was some effort to underplay her in advance of the interview. McCain is too good of a strategist for it to be a coincidence.

I think the next few weeks will be marked by a red surge.

Palin did well; as for the credit stuff, McCain is holding his fire until after the bailout. Just like Pilosi poisened the well last Monday, McCain doesn’t want the ad to run until after the bailout is approved. Once it is on the way to the WH, McCain and Palin will unload; mark my words.
