McCain camp: She did it

They sound happy, in a pro forma sort of way.

“Tonight, Governor Palin proved beyond any doubt that she is ready to lead as Vice President of the United States. She won this debate, putting Joe Biden on defense on energy, foreign policy, taxes and the definition of change. Governor Palin laid bare Barack Obama’s record of voting to raise taxes, opposing the surge in Iraq, and proposing to meet unconditionally with the leaders of state sponsors of terror. The differences between the Obama-Biden ticket and the McCain-Palin ticket could not have been clearer. The American people saw stark contrasts in style and worldview. They saw Joe Biden, a Washington insider and a 36-year Senator, and Governor Palin, a Washington outsider and a maverick reformer. Governor Palin was direct, forceful and a breath of fresh air.” –Jill Hazelbaker, McCain-Palin 2008 Communications Director

Current Drudge poll numbers: Palin 74%, Biden 24%. Vote it out!

I thought she was real, caring and is on our side. She wasn’t spewing words. Biden is a jack a$$. He kept grinning like he was laughing at her. Who got the last laugh now Biden? McCain, get some balzz and give it to Obama on next debate. Quit acting like the good guy. Our Country is in danger of becoming another Nazi Germany. This time it won’t be blonds with blue eyes either.

Do people agree that McCain needs to create an credit- crisis chart with faces, names, and connections to Obama?

Screw bipartisanship. Luntz’s duntzes, though a limited group, show that the middle 20% is enraged with DC over the crisis. McCain needs to hang Barney Frank, Dodd, and those clowns around Obama’s neck. McCain advocated for some regulation, the Dems opposed it, yet McCain is letting them blame him for it. I don’t get this.

I think it’s entirely possible that McCain is waiting for Congress to finalize whatever fix they settle on, then go for the appropriate throats. He can then claim that dealing with the problem was paramount, and now that it has been dealt with, it is time for America to understand the true underlying causes. Very statesmanlike.

So everyone here knows that General MCCLELAN WAS FIRED by LINCOLN because Lincoln felt he wasn’t prosecuting the civil war aggressively enough.

Exactly. The uneducated American might have left tonight with the impression that Obama actually tried to prevent the banking crisis instead of precipitating it. Not only that, but it made it look as though Palin had no answer to Biden’s lie.

She took a knife and gutted Biden on stage and his bowels fell out for all to see. Then she wiped away the blood from her knife with a smile, turned back to ol Joe who stood with that “deer in the spotlight look” and said, “You’re a nice man Joe and I respect you.”

I was also kinda hoping that Palin would mention how Biden was one of only 5 senators to vote against the Alaskan pipeline back in the 80’s because he didn’t want to harm the caribou. To bad the caribou population increased by leaps and bounds after the pipeline was installed.

I was waiting for Biden to answer Palin’s talk about her qualifications and her family with “John McCain voted against an amendment to a continuing resolution that would have set up a commission on special needs children.” WAY too much Washington gobbledygook. Biden seemed anesthetized trying to avoid patronizing Palin.

I’m way to cynical to believe she is a civil war buff so I’m willing to chalk this up as a coincidental gaffe. And overlook it since I believe that Petraeus will replace McKiernan since the two disagree over how to prosecute a war of insurgency. Mclellan Mkiernan whats the differnce. Exactamundo.

The one I wish they’d hit Obama and Biden on is the absolutely ludicrous claim that the Obama-Lugar amendment was about nuclear non-proliferation. At some point you just have to turn to Obama and ask him if he even read the amendment that he (correctly) claims as one of his main legislative accomplishments.

She helped tonite. In 3 day’s it will show. For the ever present poll tracking Allah. It’s cool, I hate polls. Reagan was behind in polls and won in a landslide. Obama was ahead in polls and barely won by concession. Polls mean jack, just depends on who answers the phone.

Go Sarah. And when the advisor’s come around, give them a slap in the head for me and tell them to stay out of your way, they give facts and leave how to deliver them to you.

I never understood how this redistribution of wealth is going to work. How will giving “poor” people who already cannot manage money help? IMHO, they will just waste it like they always do. I’m not trying to generalize and there are always the exceptions, but for the most part they will not use their money wisely. However, if you give them jobs, then they will start to pull themselves up.

You have Fredie and Fanny buy homes for the poor who default then you have the taxpayers buy these destroyed homes. Meanwhile Fredie and Fanny enrich democratic organizations/people to keep them in charge. When they fail you earmark more money to ACORN et all. Instead of throwing these bums in Jail that caused all this you hire them to direct the new wanna-be President.

The point is to keep yourself in office and enrich yourself.

McCain Holding Back on Fannie and Freddie? Um… Wait For It
—Ace
No confirmation on this, no tip, no hint.

But I know what he’s doing.

John McCain is waiting until the bill passes.

And then he will unleash the dogs of war.

And he will say, “I stayed away from making these partisan attacks, even though you lied ridiculously about me and your own attempts at ‘reform.’ I held back, because partisan attacks — even truthful ones — would harm our country and reduce the chances of getting a vital bill passed.

“Well, the bill is now passed. I put country first. You didn’t, and you lied on top of that. And now — only now that this crisis has been dealt with, to the extent we can — I’m going to give you a bit of straight-talk about Fannie, Freddie, my attempts to reform it, and your attempts to block reform on behalf of your big donors and friends in ACORN.”

Count on it.

OK, this was just cruel. I caught a minute of Greta’s wrapup, and she had this vision of beauty spinning for Sarah P – angelic and spot-on – and then they turn to the O’Biden spinner, and she’s 10 years older and 55,000 miles farther down the road, if you know what I mean.

What does that matter? McCain still won’t drill there because it is so “Pristine” he vacations there. Strike that only evil blowflies that eat the caribou live there. A place that more resembles Mars than any other place on Earth.

I sure pray Sarah can bring him around. Like you say Caribou and Polar Bears vote with their hoofs in huge numbers for the pipelines. Nice place in a cold winter. Easy to migrate on the rare but useful dirt roads. Caribou go hundreds of miles out of their way to use these areas.

Cindy Munford on October 3, 2008 at 1:01 AM

I was really encouraged by what the people in Luntz’s group were saying. They’re tired of politics and mad at being used. Palin offered new energy, love of America and its people, and positive, forward thinking. I thought Palin did a great job of showing how Biden’s answers were all looking backwards to place blame. That’s not how you move forward – not in the witch hunt way that Congress has done the last 2 years.

I do think once the financial bill passes in the House, the pounding will begin on actual causes of the crisis – in order to make sure, as Palin said, “Never again.”

Obama’s going to be eaten alive when it comes out that the CRA pressure on banks to do subprime lending began with Chicago’s ACORN group, led in its efforts by Barack Obama, who threatened discrimination claims against banks who didn’t fill the affirmaive action-type quotas.

Hey, Drywall, why not we cram Gypsum up your ass and call you a room?

You’re not wanted here, and if I have to trace your IP address, use skills to find you in Canada, then drag you to Alaska to meet your fate at the barrel end of a gun pointed at your nuts by Willow Palin, I will do so.

Where God is not: the book of Esther and Song of Songs

The name of God, in all its variations, does not occur in the Book of Esther. This strange phenomenon was discerned, and corrected, very early…

Doesn’t change my own personal faith or belief, but I don’t believe it shows up in the English versions either… not ‘God’, nor ‘Lord’, nor any of the english translations of all the old Jewish “El Shaddai”s, etc…..

not derailing this, just interesting Bibical tidbit.

and no, i use the New Revised Standard :)

BadgerHawk on October 2, 2008 at 11:03 PM

The DUers got hold of that one. I was over there checking their reaction, as if I didn’t know what it would be. They are nearly universally thrilled with Joe’s performance (I think they’re talking themselves into it, unless they really DO enjoy hearing that there’s a big American hole to dig out of, that it doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, as long as you get up, blah blah blah), and they believe the polls that say he beat her like a drum. They aren’t willing to give her credit for her performance in any way, shape, or form.

Same as it ever was.

I would be shocked if Governor Palin didn’t totally connect with middle America tonight, and I would be equally shocked if people who expected her to come out wearing a dunce cap (thank you, CBS, ABC, NBC, etc.) didn’t sit there with their jaws on the floor.

JiangxiDad on October 3, 2008 at 7:02 AM

How the media can say no major gaffes last night after Biden’s NATO/Hezbollah lulu is beyond me. Sen. Joe proves that he is always good value. SarahCuda dressed Biden and he didn’t know what hit him.
