Carl Cameron: Reuters pressing to have Palin’s ears checked for secret radios

posted at 7:33 pm on October 2, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | regular view

They won’t check Obama’s campaign coffers for evidence of fraud but give them a neophyte VP who’s been shaky in her interviews and they are on the case. You’ll find that at the end here after a helpful reminder from Fred Thompson about how vicious the SNL skits would have been this month if she’d sunk to Biden’s depth of stupidity.

Ed has your official debate open thread coming at eight. For my own part, I’m eager to see her come through not because I think it’ll tilt the election — with two more debates and god knows what kind of economic drama to come, this’ll be a distant memory by election day unless one of them implodes — but because after a hard month on a big stage under excruciating pressure it’d be gratifying to see her earn some respect. Plus, she has no future in national (and maybe even state) politics as a punchline, needless to say. If you’re looking for a race whose outcome may depend on what happens tonight, think Republican primaries 2012, not general election 2008.

Whatever happens, the base still loves her. Cross those fingers.

Mr. Joe on October 2, 2008 at 7:35 PM

Worried about earphones, but not about theft, fraud, voter fraud, union fraud…

This is what we’re gonna get people

originalpechanga on October 2, 2008 at 7:36 PM

Who cares about earphones.

The stick up Joe’s butt with the odd wires is just as obvious!

upinak on October 2, 2008 at 7:37 PM

If Gov. Palin does an even borderline job tonight, under all the pressure and scrutiny she’s endured the last month, that ought to put to rest all doubts about whether she’s ready to be one heartbeat away.

It ought to, but it won’t.

innominatus on October 2, 2008 at 7:38 PM

Yeah, because having McCain’s people instructing her on what she’s said in the interviews the last month have worked out sooo well. Geez, they should let her keep the earpiece.

jimmy the notable on October 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

Reuters is shit. First pimping for Hezbollah, now this!
No interest in Rezko, Ayers, or any other connection. All they want to do is hunt for tanning beds in Alaska!

clnurnberg on October 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

biden’s hairplugs can receive radio signals too. i demand they be removed.

lorien1973 on October 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

Carl Cameron: Reuters pressing to have Palin’s ears checked for secret radios

Ah, yes. They’re setting it up in case she wins. If she implodes, they’ll let it go. If she wins, they’ll note a “controversy surrounding the question of whether or not she wore an ear piece. A request by Reuters to check for one was adamantly denied.”

amerpundit on October 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

Bidens plugs on the top of his head are all part of a neural network that receives low frequency radar broadcasting Obama’s thought transmissions. Maybe they should check that too.

wise_man on October 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

Anyone who has ever been interviewed and had a producer squawking in his ear knows that a radio would be a major distraction, not a benefit. A person who hasn’t been in a television studio wouldn’t know, but these reporters absolutely do know it. Yet they remain strangely quiet. Hmmm…it almost makes one wonder if they have an agenda or something.

DrMagnolias on October 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

How about a cavity search on Biden for a sub-woofer?

Hening on October 2, 2008 at 7:39 PM

innominatus on October 2, 2008 at 7:38 PM

No. A borderline job just cements the idea she isn’t ready. She needs a great performance tonight.

Not concerned about the ethics of Gwen Ifill, but ear canal checks are of prime importance.

Not concerned that Barack Obama’s friends screwed us with Fannie Mae,but NO wireless earphones.

innominatus on October 2, 2008 at 7:38 PM

Yeah, it will put to rest the doubts and turn them into

fact.

She has to be perfect. Its total bullshit, but its true.

For my money, I think however she does, we need to set up an actual Vast Right Wing Conspiracy and say she did perfect no matter what happens. That’s what the left does with Obama and its turned a 1/2 term senator into the president.

Reuters: “We Have Obama’s Back”

SoulGlo on October 2, 2008 at 7:41 PM

I think they should make Gwen wear a tin-foil hat in case she is being fed question by the Obama mothership.

pappy on October 2, 2008 at 7:42 PM

lol why was “fact” in quote form. I meant to do italics, i think.

jimmy the notable on October 2, 2008 at 7:43 PM

I’m sorry, is Reuters hosting this event? No? Then they need to STFU.

innominatus on October 2, 2008 at 7:47 PM

Please check Obambi’s anal orifice for the MSM’s objectivity. It crawled up there and died a while ago.

Haha, I love Brit Hume.

Ooohwooooooooohwwooooowoooo.

nickj116 on October 2, 2008 at 7:48 PM

Others, however, had seen enough. Kathleen Parker called for Palin to step down, saying that her three interviews with Gibson, Hannity and Couric “revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.”

Only the Couric interview was bad. But if they list all three it gives the claim weight.

And seriously who cares what Parker thinks? Only the press who quote her. Seriously. Did it affect Blake D. Dvorak’s opinion?

Spirit of 1776 on October 2, 2008 at 7:48 PM

Does it really matter? Biden, like Obama, will make an ass of himself and the MSM will call it “brilliant”.
I hope Ifill has to tell Ol’ Joe to STFU!

One question. Does Matthews get a warm stream down his leg when Biden speaks?

HornetSting on October 2, 2008 at 7:48 PM

Anyone know if Hillary was searched before primary debates?

Someone get her on the horn and ask her what she thinks about this kind of treatment.

Lorien: LOL!
My tip for Sarah: Wear some red lipstick, that will decrease Joe’s blood flow to the brain, creating less coherent thought, therefore his ‘win’ will be harder to spin. The coverage will be hilarious…Chrissy Matthews trying to explain the thrill going up his other leg, the female pundits bursting into jealous flames. ;-D
Popcorn, anyone?

Look to be fair to Reuters, I told my husband before the debate they needed to see if THE ONE had an earplug in his ear. Turns out he did not, but he sure needed one!

This is insane. And I think all this is going to backfire! People are going to get sick of this media obsession and reject this mess!

Psst, Rooters, OBiden has a secret compartment in his head, you have to pull the right plugs and push in on the buck teeth for it to open. Oh wait, what did I say, he got the buck teeth fixed. Maybe they can give plugs an MRI.

Plus, she has no future in national (and maybe even state) politics as a punchline, needless to say.

Say what? Even if McCain/Palin lose this election, she still has two years as Governor and an 80% approval rating in Alaska. Alaskans would probably tell McCain to go home and leave their Governor alone, and re-elect her in 2010.
Then, maybe in 2013, President Romney will appoint her Secretary of Energy.

Earn some respect? When did Ronald Reagan, Clarence Thomas, or W ever earn respect? Even though Bush led us through 911 and we have not had another attack since, cut taxes, exposed the mortgage crisis years ago, pushed for drilling to end the gas monopoly by our enemies – what respect does he receive now?

The Democrats will not let up on Palin no matter how well she does. Even if McCain/Palin win, they will continue to attack her until she has been totally descredited and eliminated from any attempt to run in 2012 or 2016. Liberal Democrats will NEVER respect a CONSERVATIVE (even if they like them personally) unless they are dead (like Reagan, Buckley)!

eaglewingz08 on October 2, 2008 at 8:01 PM

It is all projection. The Democrats accuse Republicans of doing what they do. Sort of like the poker game in “The Sting”. If they lose it can only be because the Republicans are better at cheating than they are. And yet the ONLY way the Democrats can win is by cheating (or having the opponents thrown off the ballot or arm-twisting super delegates) – true elections are so problematical.
