Video: Plucky Alaskan beauty pageant contestant rocks her flute solo

Anyone who can tear off a solo like this on the big stage in Juneau can handle Joe Biden, baby. Cross them fingers.

Word through the grapevine is that the rumored video of her blanking on Supreme Court decisions is coming tonight on CBS. The question, as reported by TV Newser, isn’t that easy in a pinch, actually: “Why do you think Roe v. Wade is a good or bad decision? What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?” I’d be curious to hear how seasoned pols, especially one who aren’t lawyers by trade, handle that second bit. The obvious historical answers are Dred Scott and Korematsu, or Lochner if you’re feeling frisky (and not a conservative). A more recent decision would be the child-rape case Ed wrote about today, I guess. I’m sure the video will play badly, but honestly, if you stuck a camera and a spotlight in my face and gut-checked me, I might pause for a few long moments too before something popped to mind. We’ll see how Biden dealt with it.

Exit question: Maverick says he’s turned to her for advice “many times in the past.” Didn’t they only meet for the second time a month ago? Click the image to watch.

Well, they never did get Kobayashi Maru correct, either.

How I wish Sarah could stick that flute in Joe’s arse tomorrow!

I opened that link. It took me to the Huffington Post.

On page one of the HP comments, not one single person had anything good to say about Sarah Palin. EvERY SINGLE ONE of the posts were condescending!

There were numerous comments regarding her flute performance, all of which were rewordings of one another’s posts, all trashing Sarah’s performance and flute skill, all claiming that they themselves, or their kid, or a second grader, or some variation of the same, can ALL play better than Sarah could in that performance.

Can they really?

Probably not.

Why am I saying this?

Because I have performed as a classical and jazz guitarist and vocalist in public concerts, a weddings, at mansions, with orchestras, and so forth, and, like many other citizens, I also attend live concerts, many which include the flute. I’ve also performed with flautists, and have friends or acquaintances who performed on flute, professionally. I also associate with flute students who were attending Music School in various Universities.

Fact is, the recording of that performance was not well done. It was not studio quality. Nevertheless, Sarah did fine. The accompaniment from the orchestra did not sound very good, but then, again, how was the sound balanced and mixed? Where was the microphone placed during the concert? Was it next to the horn section?

Although the performance did not remind me of Jeane Pierre Rampal or James Galloway, she did not come off as less skilled than a second grader, as one of the critics at HP claimed.

The fact is, people HATE Sarah Palin! There is a very strong, viral case of Sarah Palin Derangement Syndrome running rampant.

Regarding the Supreme Court case, why is it that I NEVER heard any other presidential or Vice Presidential candidate in my life time EVER asked that question?

Fact is, unless they studied such historical cases, what reason would they have to know such information?

I could have answered it with Brown v the Board of Education, or Roe v Wade, or Doe v Bolton, or Dred Scott case, but that is because I have had reason to know about such cases, and I remember them. It really does not have bearing on the Presidency in contrast to the actual Executive Powers of the President, for the Supreme Court is a part of the Judiciary Branch of the Government, not the Executive Branch, hence, although the person asked might be able to show off their “knowledge” they would not have to know such information for functional purposes, since they are not serving as a lawyer or a judge, but as the Chief Executive.

Perhaps the best answer for a conservative is “Griswold v. Connecticut”

Sarah plays one kind of flute while Joe and Barack play another…The Soros Skin Flute! They are masterful…

The only qualifications to be President are:

#1 You must be a natural-born citizen.

#2 You must be 35 years old.

#3 Katie Couric and Joy Behar must like you.

#4 You must not have had the foolish ambition to enter a talent/beauty contest and perform badly and have video available for technologies that would be invented to reveal it decades later.

Oy.
