McKinney: DoD shot 5,000 prisoners during Katrina

It wouldn’t be an election cycle without Cynthia McKinney’s lunacy, and fortunately she hasn’t shied away from providing it. Here, we watch as the Green Party’s endorsed presidential candidate accuses National Guard soldiers of committing 5,000 murders of prisoners in the wake of Hurricane Katrina:
If you think that this is the kind of insanity one normally hears from Alex Jones, well … you’d be right. The conspiracy theorists on the Left and the Right tend to embrace each other at a certain point, just south of rationality. For these people, little points like evidence and common sense provide no obstacles at all to paranoia and fantasy.
For instance, let’s skip past the extremely weak sourcing McKinney uses to make her charges and go right to some obvious points. Wouldn’t the families of these 5,000 prisoners wonder what happened to them? And which prisoners, specifically, have not been accounted for? At least a few names of people who were in Louisiana state custody before Katrina and then not in custody afterwards would provide a starting point for any investigation. And it’s possible to lose a few bodies in the Louisiana swamps, but not even that legendary territory could hide 5,000 of them at once without a few of the locals taking notice.
Normally, we’d dismiss this kind of idiocy, but this is no ordinary idiot. McKinney is a former member of Congress and a candidate for President on a party that wants to claim national legitimacy. This shows the intellectual level of the Greens, but it also puts in play yet another baseless conspiracy theory about Katrina and its aftermath. We’ll be hearing this lie for the next few years, thanks to McKinney.

Wait…for some reason, I’d assumed that Nader was the Green Party candidate. Is he running purely as an independent this year?
(shows how much attention I’ve been paying to the third party candidates this year)

…a proven racist whacko practicing gnostic politics…a’ la Oliver Stone…accusing “the system” — 40 years ago, I’d've said “the Man” — of Buchenwald-esque infamy based on information from unnamed “insiders”….
This woman is on the same short bus with the likes of “Spike” Lee and others who claim that Mr. Bush dynamited the levees to kill black folks…the folks who claim that a million Iraqis were killed by the UN sanctions…and who’re strangely silent when the perp who commits actual crimes is anything other than a white male American taxpayer….
…they’ve even had academics assert that blacks can’t be racist….
Lewis Carroll is scripting the 21st Century…and Ms. McKinney’s in the role of the Queen of Hearts…”Off with their heads!”….

To mis-quote Sen. Owens (D-NY), I’ll bet alligators “still swim the route.”
(you may remember him saying that so many slaves were thrown overboard that to this day sharks still swim the route)

What scares me more are the Useful Idiots ‘humming’ and basically agreeing with her there at the event.
Then again, they are in California.

That’s it. Brilliant! I think i’m going to just grab a microphone and start spouting off the weirdest most incredible things i can think of, maybe wear a bunch of pink and grovel around on the ground with a sign that says 9/11 was an inside job, wear a che guevera tshirt and a keffiyah, and you know what will happen? People will vote me into congress. Oh yea, and she forgot the part about Bush’s failed policies being the cause of these 5000 people’s demise.

So… the imaginary mother’s imaginary son can’t tell anyone any of the details because he signed a non-disclosure agreement that told him to not testify against mass murderers. That might sound idiotic, but remember: a document like that is fully enforceable in Fantasy Land.
As crazy as all that sounds, it’s the tip of the iceburg. If these people were just psychotically paranoid, that would be perfectly understandable. But they’re not.
The same people who make these insane claims against a free country are the first ones to DEFEND totalitarianisms where covering up such crimes is not only possible, but downright easy to do. That’s not paranoia, that’s treason.

Looks like old Cynthia has had her head in a bag-O-pork rinds for a couple of months.
How can she look at the camera with a straight face and come out with that tripe? I can’t even believe she was a Congresswoman. That really degrades my opinion of Congress just when I thought it couldn’t go any lower.

This is a small but instructive example of why we’re in such trouble now. Our institutions are sinking under the weight of the McKinney’s of our world. Their effect has been felt, and incorporated into our society. We are not in trouble if something isn’t done soon, we are in trouble. We are past the point of speculating how bad things might get if this type of absurdity is allowed to continue. The future has arrived. As in other countries, the system now often works purposely against you. Beware.

Cynthina McKinney does serve a purpose: I look at her and listen to her and it strengthens my belief in God because there has to be more than this. There has to be a place where morons like this don’t exist…or at a minimum a place where their stupidity won’t effect me.
So for that, I thank you Ms. McKinney.

Wow. I just… wow.
McKinney is completely off base and is out-of-touch with mainstream society, of that there is no doubt. But to come here and expect civilized discourse about politics and media and see comments like
or
or
It saddens me that people say these ugly things. If you disagree with McKinney (and I would think that 100% of the commenters here do) say so — but what does her race (or the race of a presidential candidate) have to do with anything? You know how liberals always accuse conservatives of being racist? Comments like these give them more ammunition for that kind of a charge.
I’m sorry to be on a soapbox, but I had to speak up.

Interpretation: So it’s okay if we cheat, because they cheated first. It’s okay if we’re violent, because they were violent first. It’s okay if we do anything we want because we are the righteous and they are evil because “no faith shall be kept with heretics.”

I have had many afternoons over at the site, “After Downing Street”. These folks are amazing to interact with. They will send you hours and hours of videos that have been made to support their claims and then the videos themselves become the evidence. But conspiracy theorists are absolutely amazing in the manner in which they weave totally unconnected documents and irrational reasoning into theories. I’ve had a little psychology training with the instructor courses I’ve had in the Army. These loons demonstrate the most classic definition of “Reaction Formation” I’ve ever seen, Specifically, to them anything that is released by a government agency that doesn’t suit their reasoning is the covert elements of our government trying to mislead them. If the data supports their delusion, then the information leaked out without the governments help. The theme is always that the government is never up front about any data that gets out. They would never be able to read something that changes their mind. It by it’s nature pro or con support the belief.
But they are also a hateful, hateful ill-tempered bunch. They are supporting a candidate who when elected will bring GWB to trial and depending upon the outcome either imprison and get this, they don’t think the death penalty would be inappropriate! It took me a couple days to get them to admit they wanted all of us involved in the war prosecuted too.
I think of them as critters in a cage that you engage with and get to trusting you. Then buy the time they’re taking peanuts from your hand, you start poking them with a stick.
hawkdriver on October 1, 2008 at 2:47 PM
True dat. That’s the ironic thing about teh media and the liberals. They’ve become what they’ve always accused us of being. The way the media and the dems are acting this year is Brown Shirted and thuggish.

Let’s see. She says one guy’s task was dealing with 5,000 bodies and dumping them in Loojana swamps. I wonder how far he had to tote each one? How many could he do in a day, 25 or so? I doubt if he could dump them all in one spot. If he could do 25 in a day, then it took him 200 days to do it. Somebody would have wondered what was going on. Right? And that’s without weekends off or vacation or sick days or personal days or family leave days.
Sloan Morganstern on October 1, 2008 at 2:53 PM
Not to my mind. The right and the left in America tend to split on the effectiveness of government and the amount of government intrusion into personal lives (or federal intrusion into states’ areas of responsibility). The far extreme on the right leads to anarchy, while the far extreme on the left leads to totalitarianism. There are, of course, many plain old lunatics who are neither right nor left – they don’t even have much reason behind their ideas, at all – and they can end up anywhere.

Pelayo on October 1, 2008 at 8:09 PM
Hawkdriver, I read a little story about conspiracies where people believe in the perfection of government cover-ups or something phrased similarly. The more nefarious the deed, the easier it is to keep it secret. They are deluded into believing that the government that could not hide the atomic bomb from Stalin can hide every other dirty little secret.
I found Alex Jones on shortwave radio back in ‘03. He claimed that the US government was going to release sarin gas on our troops just to justify the invasion of Iraq. He even had a “guest” who claimed that he entered Iraq secretely and planted sarin explosives. Jones has been screaming “detention camps” since 2003. The man is a lunatic who should be institutionalized, or else he is a shrewed businessman who has found all of those suckers that P.T.Barnum spoke about.
Pelayo on October 1, 2008 at 8:27 PM
Jones is certifable! Did you see the video of him chasing MMalkin around Denver? What a tool. I do think he truly beleives what he says though.
It’s hard sometimes to think that’s what some people believe we’ve done overseas and what they beleive their own soldiers are capable of.
