Social conservatives are greatly outnumbered (a byproduct of having lost the culture war argument). We hear a lot about the supposed “three-legged-stool” of the conservative movement, but in fighting the culture war, social conservatives are on their own. In fact, it’s wrong to think of this in terms of a left versus right paradigm. It would be better understood as part of the continuing struggle between virtue (as social conservatives define it) and liberty (defined by our modern secular society to mean the freedom to do whatever we want). In that light, liberty is murdering virtue…

Never lost the culture argument at all. The podiums were never occupied; no moderators ever appeared. The metaphor doesn’t apply. Here’s a better one:

Social conservatives were caught with their pants on by a concerted, multi-generational seizure of the culture in its entirety, from the family restaurant Hooters, to the halls of My Vajayjay, My Self-Worth University, by progressives that hated everything social conservatives loved. And it’s ironic so many people are coming to the let it burn answer, because that answer is biblical in its own way, and in perfect context:

Are you ignorant bible thumping morons even aware that “marriage” isn’t an invention of either ancient Jews, nor Jesus, nor the bible?

China, India, Japan, Egypt. Been doing it before the Christians stole it and pretended they invented it. Nevermind that it existed in ancient Rome and indeed all of pre-Christian Europe.

That statement’s ridiculous. People have been marrying from the foundation of the modern species. Saying “Christians stole it and pretended they invented it” is well beyond abject stupidity.
