Video: Pelosi calls House GOP “unpatriotic”

Just the sort of rhetoric America needs to help these very delicate negotiations along. Compounding the nuance here is her reason for calling them unpatriotic: It’s not the fact that they’re holding out in the middle of a national emergency, it’s the fact that they neglected to show up for negotiations earlier in the week. Go ask Paul Kanjorski — Democrat Paul Kanjorski, who chairs the House Financial Services subcommittee on capital markets — whose fault that is. Then read Roll Call’s report about the Democrats sending eight negotiators to the table tonight when Paulson explicitly asked for two. We’re staring down the barrel of the worst disaster since Katrina or maybe even 9/11 and these people are playing douchebag psych-out games with each other. I can’t wait to see what this poll looks like next week.
The more I think about it, the more I have to believe Kristol’s wrong and things are (relatively) fine. They simply wouldn’t be jerking around this way if there really was an economic nuclear missile inbound. Click your ruby slippers together three times and repeat: They can’t be that stupid, they can’t be that stupid, they can’t be that stupid…

You guys don’t understand … Nancy is trying to SAVE THE PLANET HERE! She’s trying to SAVE THE PLANET!! Unpatriotic is a Terrorist Rights Party that allows it’s members to “try and convict” Marines fighting for our freedom before they’ve had the benefit of due process. And then … refusing to even have the decency to apologize to those Marines when they are acquitted of all charges. Yeah … go Nancy … yawn … please wake me when her 15 minutes is over … give her the hook please!

I say if they screw around and destory our life savings we should march on Washington not a nice march but a tar and feather march. I am so sick of these people that pretend to lead us. They can’t even govern themselves. It is time for a chance. i urge all people to vote anti-incumbant this year no matter hte party. If everyone just voted for the other guy we would lose the Senate but gain the house. Every Congressperson needs to be guided out the door. Every sitting Senator up for reelection needs to be kicked out. We need a mass upridsing at the ballot box. Time to ditch party and stand for America.

CTDeLude on September 27, 2008 at 10:04 PM
I don’t think so. I hope you get what you want.
Bailout or no bailout, I hope that Fox News does a special prime-time program, or a series even, laying out the history of this debacle with an emphasis of exposing the guilty parties, especially those within our own government. And it should only be the beginning of the repercussions.
FloatingRock on September 27, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Never will happen.
Remember in 2004, when they thought Kerry would win?
Fox suddenly became very democrat friendly because they wanted to get interviews with the new administration.
People like to think Rupert and Fox are right wing, but it’s just a business like anything else. It’ll blow the direction that will earn it the most money.
lorien1973 on September 27, 2008 at 10:05 PM
Maybe it is time to take our weapons, and go to DC and take over. Those idiots are getting way out of hand. Pelosi is greedy and her Dem. cronies. They are treating this situation as it is a joke. Love how the spending bill they sent to Bush today. Has all types of pork in it. When is this greed going to stop? No words that we can say is going to stop it. Action sure will.
sheebe on September 27, 2008 at 10:05 PM
They will give her ten seconds of video, Manly, because they ‘platform’ Dem and libtard ideas and causes, but they won’t do one of their pseudo-stories where they show video of five or six a++holes in a row saying the same thing, and then bring in a supposedly ‘non-partisan’ “expert” to string it along.
It’s just Too Stupid, and their audience–Dems and libtards–don’t care about patriotism, so why bother?
But I could be wrong…………..
Janos Hunyadi on September 27, 2008 at 10:06 PM
Nancy Pelosi is lacks any form of American patriotism and instead wraps herself up at night in her blanket embroidered with the Soviet Hammer and Sickle singing Gimn Sovetskogo Soyuz shortly thereafter drowning her hatred of America in shots of vodka while reading the works of Nikolay Zabolotsky and Alexander Vvedensky.

I’m seriously wondering why there hasn’t been calls for this already. They have the votes to pass this without the GOP but they’re more concerned with the impact it will have on upcoming elections then it does on the health of the country. Is this not grounds for removal from duty essentially? This is the worse case of being out of touch I’ve ever seen. This is Obama’s party, why isn’t he bringing the change to their thinking?

As the brilliant Rep. Michele Bachmann just pointed out in Special Orders, this mother of all bailouts follows several multi-billion dollar bailouts that Paulson and Bernake promised would stabilize the economy.
Socialism fails every time it is tried. The downside of capitalism is risk. Patriots will need to ride this out.

Quick…is there any legal means stated anywhere in our laws to oust politicians who are obviously working contrary to the will of the People (capital P intended)?
Because they either believe we’re in deep trouble and pass this without the opposing party or they don’t believe it and are trying to make sweetheart deals for themselves at the cost of the taxpayer.
Such a damn slippery slope we’re on.

lorien1973 on September 27, 2008 at 10:13 PM
some thoughts on the market crash. what people fail to understand is that the market is not some nameless faceless thing. Powerful people controll wall street. The big money people will see that there is a crash if no bill is reached. They are short and long the market. They profit either way that is called hedging their bets. If no bailout they will push the futures down with very little money, the people will panic and the market will crash. wall Street is not powerless. they want this bailout and they will do everything in their power to get it including crashing the market like I said they make money either way.
however, the more i read of this bill the more misgivings I have for it. The rep plan is a much better bill IMO.

I’m way beyond disappointed with the whole lot of them, all 535, but to think that this Pelosi person is third in line is depressing beyond belief. They’re, under her “leadership,” going to do nothing until it’s too late to do anything.
Whether one agrees with the bailout or not, the distinct lack of leadership is causing more consternation in the world markets — thus festering fear, uncertainty and doubt that will devastate the economy unnecessarily.
Take a stand Nancy, or get the hell out of the way.
We need ballots this November clearly indicating who the incumbents are, so even those that don’t pay attention can vote them out without research.

I am so tired of this woman. Glenn Reynolds made a statement of couple of days ago that I think might be true. He said that if these people don’t come up with something soon and this is bad, it could also be bad for incumbents. I think that might be right. I know I would like to see some of these people gone, and Pelosi is right on top of that list.
But I think Allah underestimates the egomania of the political class. I am afraid that Kristol could be right and they would still be acting like idiots. National emergency, smational emergency.

I have heard some people {left and right} say that the GOP can not work. I did hear there is an attempt to forge the bills in some ways. The approaches are different, but they might be able to find away to use the insurance provisions from the GOP in some areas the buy out provisions from the Paulson bill for other assets.
Hell, I dunno. I have heard and read enough at this point that I am too confused to begin to sort it all out.
Terrye on September 27, 2008 at 10:21 PM
Read poll internals.
Yes, congress has a 20% approval rating; but when asked if -their- congressman is good. It’s like 70% yes.
People don’t want to believe that their congressman is part of the problem. People have a natural affinity for being correct. So, when their congressman is wrong, they have a hard time facing it.
What this country needs is:
Remove the party affiliation from the ballot. And remove the incumbent tag from the ballots as well.
That’ll really help straighten things out.
lorien1973 on September 27, 2008 at 10:22 PM

It can work however it would cost Wall Street the money and wall street doesn’t want that. since wall street has bought and paid for this congress of course they would say it won’t work. It would be cheaper for the fed gov to buy every forclosed home in america and make the monthly payments on it at this time. anbout 6% of the homes are in forclosure or close to forclosure. The home market in USa is about 12 trillion. It would cost about 720billion to buy up all these loans. If instead we simply paid the bank the monthly payment over 30 years at 55 interest the amount would be over 30 yeras about 1.4 trillion but per month would be very small. the government could then rent out the homes and could maybe turn a profit.
I know it is a stupid plan i’m just trying to show what 700billion could buy. for 700 billion we could buy every forclosed home in America and then some since the homes usally sell at 50% of face vaule.

There are plenty of good conservatives in the House and Senate that are fighting for us. They deserve to be reelected. Its the long time Democrats that wreck the place that need to be beaten. That is why Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are screeching so loudly for GOP cover. No they don’t. No one deserves to be re-elected. They all need to go. I don’t care if they are RINO’s DEMS, liberals or conservatives. They all need to take responsibility for this mess and be fired. Throw the baby out with the bathwater and start off. Only a mass uprising at the ballot box will bring back democracy. Everyone of this 536 individuals have presided over the worse run congress/government in history. They have tried to destroy our borders, our economy, or very way of life. They all need to go. Every last one of these idiots. I don’t care if my congressman took care of my passport, or helped me in some one. They all are corrupt they all need to go. Every last one of them and we need to repeat it every two years until they start doing the peoples wishes not their friends or lobbyists wishes.
