Video: Pelosi calls House GOP “unpatriotic”

posted at 9:21 pm on September 27, 2008 by Allahpundit

Just the sort of rhetoric America needs to help these very delicate negotiations along. Compounding the nuance here is her reason for calling them unpatriotic: It’s not the fact that they’re holding out in the middle of a national emergency, it’s the fact that they neglected to show up for negotiations earlier in the week. Go ask Paul Kanjorski — Democrat Paul Kanjorski, who chairs the House Financial Services subcommittee on capital markets — whose fault that is. Then read Roll Call’s report about the Democrats sending eight negotiators to the table tonight when Paulson explicitly asked for two. We’re staring down the barrel of the worst disaster since Katrina or maybe even 9/11 and these people are playing douchebag psych-out games with each other. I can’t wait to see what this poll looks like next week.

The more I think about it, the more I have to believe Kristol’s wrong and things are (relatively) fine. They simply wouldn’t be jerking around this way if there really was an economic nuclear missile inbound. Click your ruby slippers together three times and repeat: They can’t be that stupid, they can’t be that stupid, they can’t be that stupid…

Nah. The scumbags will be hailed as heroes. Those who tried to stop this madness will be vilified as traitors.

They already are, no? All I keep hearing is how they had a deal until McCain came to town and that the only thing holding up the rescue of the world economy is the opposition of the House Republicans!

That coupled with the fact that this whole mess was caused by Republican principles, like free-market capitalism, tells the unsophisticated American public that socialism is the way to go after all.

This is frustrating for sure. I have to stagger my exposure to “news” in order to deal with the onsetting depression (mine, not the economy’s).

“Not Patriotic”
Ah, reverse psychology. Very cleaver Nancy. The nation is not as moronic as your Bay Area friends.

First, Kristol is always wrong

I can’t even read him anymore. He exceeds my medication dose

We are in that bad a shape. That is why the DEMS shut down Congress and ran from DC like scared rabbits because no one (of them) knew what to do. Not a proud moment for America

To get the DEMs back to DC, Paulsen had to use the magic word: Money

They bolted back like hounds and played a despicable game holding the baby out the window by one foot while they angled for camera coverage and added pork to the bill

Not a proud moment for Pelosi. I take that back. A proud moment for Pelosi who lost her moral compass long long ago

They simply wouldn’t be jerking around this way if there really was an economic nuclear missile inbound

One might have thought that before this week. Now it is proven they would jerk us around even if there was a real nuclear missile headed our way, as long as it didnt hit the Congressinal offices

I am relieved that the vultures have been pushed back. Not the Congressional vultures but the ones who were going to take our nation after the crash

And she is still 3rd in line to be president. Obama, Biden, Pelosi…the possibility exists. With the Media bias, the voter fraud and Hollywood push, I hope and pray that voters will come to realize what we will face with the 3 stooges in charge…Larry Curly and Mo, and don’t forget Shemp (Reid)

Dear Pelosi, who likes to run off an cuddle with our enemies and/or their backers behind the back of our President;

____ ___, with a post-hole digger.

Fill in the blanks as you see fit.

Oh, and if you want pork, go down to the store and buy some bacon.

That should explain the rising costs of medication… damn you Kristol!!

Hugh Hewitt does that to my eye and ear drop medication. I’m glad he finally came out of the liberal closet, because it should lower the cost of it.

That basically it, Paulson needs to be hung.

Nancy Pelosi has branded the Republican Party as unpatriotic without so much as a peep from anybody in return.

bloviator on September 28, 2008 at 6:35 PM

The airwaves are flooded with Democrats. McCain’s promise to reach across the aisle seems kind of ridiculous at this point. I would like McCain to explain to me how he expects the “aisle” to even exist after November 4th. Obama and the Democrats are resonating with the voters while politically crushing the Republicans like ants beneath their feet. McCain should be aware that Republicans first must be elected if there is to be an aisle to reach across.

jay12 on September 28, 2008 at 6:59 PM

All Americans should thank her and the other responsible legislators for working to get this done before the markets opened on Monday.

H. Hewitt

You’re an idiot, Hugh. Whatever role Pelosi may have had in this, she has proved incapable of “responsible legislation”, and if she was drunk in the gutter, I’d **** on her.

Jaibones on September 28, 2008 at 7:28 PM

It’s pretty clear that anything republican is radioactive. So lets not ignore it. Lets do what good Judo artist would do. Use your opponents leverage against him.

Obama will never beat McCain on FP. So all John has to do is change the perception of himself and take on some of Obama’s talking points.

“Maverick” is entirely too reminiscent of “Texas”. Chimpy is Texas.

He needs to make himself an “Arizonian Maverick”. Like Wyatt Earp or something along those lines. Nothing outwardly obvious, but more subtle. Almost subliminal. Don’t ask me how, but it’s clear that Oslime-a is doing it.

And he needs to start talking to the middle class. Tell them what he’s going to do.

Or, he could have decided to simply BE a conservative years ago.

Sometimes it’s necessary to absorb a pounding from the enemy vessel until such time as yours draws close enough to deliver an effective broadside. If this is the case, then Mac is going to blow them out of the water.

If this is the case. Mac has been awfully silent so far. We’ll see.

Let’s see… the House GOP are unpatriotic and the patriot thing to do is pay more taxes.

Geez, we are f’d.

Talk about not showing up, you fu**ing beyotch! Where the F*** were you when you called for a recess and the GOP members stayed to work on the energy/drilling proposal? Beyotch, you are a lying tVat if you think ANYBODY believes you give a damn about the American public. I wouldn’t pi*$ on your stupid ass if you were on fire, b**ch! You make me sick beyond belief. Watching you requires a phenergan suppository. Taking the pill still makes me vomit, but it’s a lot more effective if you’re shoved where the sun doesn’t shine. DAMNIT I hate you defeatocrats!!!!

MsUnderestimated on September 28, 2008 at 11:44 PM

So the party that is constantly whining about being called unpatriotic has called Republicans unpatriotic twice this week.

First it was Biden implying that those who don’t want to pay higher taxes are unpatriotic, now Pelosi saying outright that Republicans are unpatriotic.

But when they bust on America 24/7, we better not “question their patriotism.”

Nice.

29Victor on September 29, 2008 at 12:21 AM

Here’s a thought, the Republicans got some of their language in on this bill, but as they have said “it’s a crap sandwich”. Since the house will pass this, the Dems have the votes, let every Republican vote “Present”. This is just going to prolong the agony by passing this. The Markets are going to have to correct sooner or later. The foreign investors will be back, we are still basically a free economy, that means we make them money. If you don’t believe it, just go back and look at the market graphs. In the mid 70′s we went through the same thing, only then the market was at a high of about 1100 and took a 30% hit. Took less than a year before it was back up to 1100 and climbing. The housing market climbed faster than it did even though it took a bigger hit. Time to clean out the leeches and dead wood before it gets worse.
