Video: Palin’s pre-debate pub party

The videos are too short to be useful but someone tipped us to them so we might as well share. The can’t-miss here is the pool report from her appearance. Is Palin really wearing “Sarahcuda” t-shirts now or did the reporter make that up to flavor his dispatch with a little sprinkle of awesome?
I do believe we have partial confirmation.
Note to the ‘Cuda: Blitzer was asking for you last night.

Keep your fingers crossed… and hope that she can name one McCain policy that earned him the nickname Maverick. That type of ignorance may fly under the radar in a Couric interview but not during a national debate.

Palin=Incompetent as opposed to the minor league jesse jackson barry hussein obama. By the way, who is he trying to impress with his arabic pronunciations because I think he sounds like a poseur. Of course, maybe he wants our children to start speaking arabic as well.

McCain needs to show how this financial debacle can be laid to rest at Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer and Chris Dodd’s feet and how he and Sarah Palin are going to come into town and shake up the old boys club. If I hear about how this is all due to greedy wall street companies one more time my head is going to explode!

Well, Palin did name one, then Couric asked for another example, not of McCain’s maverickiness, but of him increasing regulation.
Still a lousy episode for Palin, but not quite as bad as you put it.

I know many Iraqis and Iranians who get grated by the ‘i’ pronunciation.
Is it so hard to do the soft ‘e’ instead? Do you really feel that someone is ‘weak’ for pronouncing it wrong?
There are a dozen things to attack Obama for. His pronouncing the country names correctly is foolish and petty.

CBS3 did a pretty snarky story on this last night. They showed all of this video, plus some clips of people in the pub saying great things about her, but then followed it up with a “report” about Gov. Palin’s interview with Katie Couric and the “questions being raised” about her competence. I was not happy. But the Inquirer story today is great and appeared on Page 1.
And yes, the protestors came off as stupid moonbats with no lives. Everyone in Philly was either watching the debate or watching the Phillies.
BTW, my husband went to an Obama debate-watch party and they only had 10 people show up. This is in Bucks County, and they pimped this party hard on the Web and in emails.

The “independent left-wing woman v. submissive house wife” false dichotomy is being wrecked by Palin. Militant feminists are having their “religion” and identities challenged like never before, so they’re getting violent.
I didn’t expect it to go this far, but the feminist dogma has never been challenged like this.
I hope they are taking her security measures every bit as seriously as Obama’s and McCain’s. It’s getting scary.

Reflect(like Reagan and other greats have)on stories or life learning lessons. Begin your metamorphosis, Sarah for all the people.

Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Palin that up-close. She is really very beautiful. Flawless skin, beautiful eyes, sparkling teeth, and perfect lips. I never noticed these things before – I just generally thought she was an attractive woman. As a woman, I have to say she is lovely. No wonder so many [other] women hate her.
Redhead Infidel on September 27, 2008 at 1:36 PM
Yes and no Manly. Hate is easier to bring to the surface, more tangible, and one of the lower branches of the emotional tree.
Fear is more primal, instinctive and self-protective.
As humans we all mostly strive to own up to our fears and fight against our feelings of hate.
The left has intermingled the two emotions and came up with the justification that anything they do is right and correct, therefore admissible.
I wish I could have explained it better, but there it is.
Over.

“Keep your fingers crossed… and hope that she can name one McCain policy that earned him the nickname Maverick. That type of ignorance may fly under the radar in a Couric interview but not during a national debate.”
Are you kidding? Palin’s job isn’t to memorize McCains past accomplishments. Could Biden name Obama’s? Can anyone name Obamas. That was a worthless gotcha line of questioning by Couric. Now we find out that the interview was SURPRISE edited to make her look worse.
This whole line of reasoning is ridiculous on its own and even more so as it is not applied to Barack or Biden.

SouthernGent on September 27, 2008 at 1:43 PM
Whether Palin succeeds or fails at the VP debate is wholly dependent upon the edict that John McCain gives her.
If he tells her to be a good parrot – then she’ll look and sound bad.
If he tells her to be herself – then Biden will be BBQed.

But he’s mighty unhappy about the lying TV ads and the thuggery I keep telling him about. I don’t think I can turn him this time, but he certainly is not going out of his way to give money or do anying else for Obama now. He was not thrilled with Obama’s debate performance either, and came home immediately after it was over.

I think after the time we have had with the financial melt down and all of the elites on both sides of aisle talking about Gov. Palin being “out of her league” (thank you Kathleen Parker) it is time to start pointing out just what “the league” has done to this country. I realize that will put a huge onus on Sen. McCain to keep up the Maverick image but right now I think fresh ideas and distance from influence peddlers from outside the D.C. area will make big brownie points.
Cindy Munford on September 27, 2008 at 1:52 PM
Well, if does for McCain in the privacy of the booth I doubt he’d tell ya. Keep working on him. :-D
SouthernGent on September 27, 2008 at 1:54 PM
She didn’t have a “cheat” bracelet on like Barack did.
Dominoes one and two, the proximal cause of all this stuff, were Freddie and Fannie, and those dominoes fell because the Democrats (Obama included) stymied action to prevent them from falling. Palin was absolutely right on that one. Palin’s not knowing what it would take any of us two minutes on google to find concerning McCain’s historicals on finance isn’t a sign she’s dumb — just not knowledgeable in that area — and, to be honest, not pertainent to anything other than Couric’s gotcha momement (or, should I say, four moments because Couric had to rub Palin’s face in it). Had Couric asked her something about Palin’s own viewpoints and how she informed them, and she stumbled, that would have been far more telling.
Palin did really well, considering she didn’t have a teleprompter in front of her and was trying to be nice to Couric to boot. I can think of any number of snarky things she could have said to make Couric come off the bench, but she stuck to the high road.
And, would Couric have twisted the knife the way she did if Obama were in front of her and stumbled?
As for Palin’s upcoming debate, she’s facing Biden, although I’m sure the Obama campaign would have wanted her to face Obama, just to prevent any derailments — or is that derangements — on the part of Biden.

juliesa on September 27, 2008 at 1:57 PM
If Couric asked Biden what Obama did against his own party, Biden would have been similarly lost.
Then again, if Couric asked Biden about ANYTHING Obama ever achieved, Biden would have drawn a blank. Which wouldn’t have been Biden’s fault.
That’s the one question no one in the MSM has dared to ask.
Steve Z on September 27, 2008 at 1:59 PM
Gov. Palin’s speech was innocuous political fare.
The protest outside was hate…unalloyed hate.
Why do they hate her? Because they hate the people who support her.
Can you say “1861″. It’s said that, at that time, people on the one side couldn’t bear the very existence of the people on the other. Bibles were cited (even rejected and in some cases destroyed), laws were ignored (asylum laws today?), and it took almost a century to heal most of the wounds which resulted…and some never healed.
The really bad thing is that the victory of the one side led to the near ruin of the very people at the center of the racial dimension of the debate in the first place…bad and punative policies, reactions to those policies, and there is the freedman in the middle.
…who’ll be in the middle when Left and Right collide?
Maybe it’ll be those damned “undecided”’s…I wouldn’t mind that so much…I hate those wishy-washy bastards….

CCRWM on September 27, 2008 at 2:26 PM
Palin evoked very strong feelings on both sides when she busted on the scene: Deranged fear and hate from the left and incredible excitement and renewed hope on the right.
She is all the MSN has been trying to convince us Obama is, and much more, she has the potential to be an unstoppable movement.
The democrats and the MSN saw the huge threat she was and got to work very quickly to utterly destroy any chances of her ever being on national office. At first I thought it was stupid of them to go after her on experience, I thought that would just highlight Obama’s empty record. But they have been very successful in painting her as a simpleton out of her league (both MSN interviews were designed to drive home that point, and the McCain campaign and the conservative talking heads accepted the premise of the MSM and took a defensive posture trying to play with the cards dealt by the left. Her favorables have tanked and her star seems to have faded among the non-conservative public.
I don’t know if Palin can rebound and excite enough of the American public, but if she is to do it she has to stop trying to play by the constrained rules set by the MSM and Washington elite and be who she is, someone fresh who can identify with real Americans and who has the strength, ideas and ability to shake up the old boys (and girls) corrupted Washington environment and go directly to the people. She has to be able to re-frame the discussion, challenge the got-you questions with relevant ideas and be out there a lot more, she exposes the hypocrisy and corruption of the left by simple being who she is (that’s why they hate her).
I hope she can do it for all of our sakes.

djl130 on September 27, 2008 at 2:28 PM
I think she needs to hammer Biden as another tax & spend, pork-barrel Senator just like the one’s in the very unpopular Congress. She has to ask the public if they want a typical legislator (potentially) in the White House to rubber stamp Congresses actions without any checks and balances. Then she can hammer home that she and John McCain are not from the same mold as Congress or the administration.

Guys, we need to face reality here. Palin is turning into a source of major embarrassment, and they need to fix that really quickly. Hopefully, letting her “loose” to be herself rather than a talking point machine will fix the problem, but to be honest I’m not so sure of that anymore.

Yes. I’m a committed Ditto Head. However, I think a Factor interview would help Palin with independent voters. Hannity and others are seen as right-wing polemicists, and nobody in the liberal MSM is going to give her a fair shake.
I believe O’Reilly would conduct a straight-up interview, with no political agenda, and needless to say the ratings would be huge.
Mr. Wednesday Night on September 27, 2008 at 3:12 PM
This time it will be even worse, I suspect, because the rift between red state people and blue state people is a yawning chasm that cuts through politics, religion, culture – everything. In 1861 there was still a lot of common ground between northerners and southerners.

I get more and more pissed about that “regulation” question. McCain called for more regulation of FM and FA because they were not free market entities. The fortunes of the US government were tied to them, in a way that other businesses are not. You have to have regulation of something that you guarantee, but you have no (clear or obvious) right to regulate something that is an independent entity.
More regulation of auto companies is not necessarily a good thing, because the government doesn’t promise to keep them afloat. They may choose to, but the circumstances are different.
What Freddie, Fannie, the big three, and others, do have in common, is that their business practices have been interfered with by government regulations, to varying degrees. Once government steps in to control some part of business decisions, they do bear some responsibility for the negative effects they might have.
In summation (lofty tone), whether McCain has ever called for more regulation in the past or not is not the point. He called for it when a particular situation made it necessary.
