Missouri governor goes nuclear on Obama for using prosecutors on campaign “truth squad”

posted at 6:30 pm on September 27, 2008 by Allahpundit

Oh, now. Would people really refrain from criticizing Obama just because they fear being, er, sent to prison for it?

This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

More at the link. Needless to say, no one actually has to be prosecuted for this to work. Prosecution will be impossible anyway in most cases thanks to the First Amendment. The point isn’t to jail critics but merely to price the cost of prospective litigation into their decision on whether to publicly criticize The One. Add this to the threatening letters his lawyers sent to station managers over the NRA ads, the flash-mob smearing of David Freddoso, and the appeal to the Justice Department to prosecute the American Issues Project for its perfectly factual yet devastating Ayers ad. Oh, the fun we’ll have with a deep blue Congress and an Obama-run DOJ and FCC. He promised you a “new type of politics,” didn’t he? Click the image to watch.

I have been wondering if there is a way to demand that the media tell the American public who Obama really is – to force them to do their jobs.

No. And since they are so in the tank, if they did cover any story, it is going to be spun the leftard way.

Plus that whole Second Amendment thingy…

That is true, if you take Austin out of the mix (full disclosure: I’m a UT/Austin alumnus – a “teasip”, as the Aggies call us).
We had as big a mess as New Orleans did in Katrina (although with far fewer fatalities and with far fewer idiot politicians), but we’re doing all right. Even my 90-year old uncle in Houston got through it without a peep.
And it was hellish…

TexasJew on September 27, 2008 at 9:06 PM

I think even Austin is merely moonbat not fascistbat and if so the rest of Texas can fix that pretty quick.

Ok, full disclosure. I’m a Redskins fan, but I am quite prepared to cheer for the ‘Boys if I have to. This season my husband and I have begun a training program, just in case O! wins. We cheer for the Cowboys against any non-Skin NFC East team and most AFC teams, except the Saints.

What I liked about Texas (I lived in Houston) is that although we had our share of liberals, they didn’t strut around like the owned the place. Few people shoved their politics down your throat or assumed that you were a liberal… and I was working at a university at the time.

But I wish the weather was better.

Main Stream Media = Goebbels Propaganda

Liberal College KOS Kids = SA Brownshirts

Nation of ISLAM = SS Storm troopers (Obama’s “Government Funded Private Army” Remember the “Million Man March”? They now have MANY MORE RECRUITS FROM THE PRISON SYSTEM!)

OBAMA Will Outlaw and Regulate All Guns and Ammo out of existence, saying that it’s a terrorism issue!(his brownshirts, will do some “”staged shootings” on purpose , and legislation will be passed by the Democrat Controlled Senate, to get guns GONE! (those people that did the shooting will be made into heroes by the liberal movie makers, for being the catylists for getting the guns removed, that will be their incentive, plus they will choose people who are mentally ill, disabled/unstable easily misled)

When law enforcement officials and elected politicians violate human rights then they become common criminals and no longer deserve the respect and compliance of the public. The people must then act to stop such an assault.

The late 60′s sucked. The 70′s were even worse. The 80′s? Ah…now THAT was a decade. Longest period of uninterrupted peace-time prosperity in our history. Reagan was in the White House. Thatcher was prime minister. Soviet Russia was on the retreat. The music – o man – the music was phenomenal. There were some awful tunes, to be sure, but for the most part it was a great decade for music. And motion pictures. And cute, Jersey-girl mall rats with designer jeans and big hair.

You know, there was also a Christian element to what took place in Eastern Europe. I remember watching the MSM and seeing crowds of people in the streets defying their communist leaders. What the MSM didn’t show you,, that I saw later on the 700 club news, were those same people,, those same crowds in those same streets kneeling down in prayer for their nation! it was as much a religious movement as it was a revolution against tyranny.

I’ll say this,, we get the government we deserve. I don’t have a lot of answers. But when you’ve got what amounts to law enforcement goons going out to intimidate political speech,, this isn’t debate,, this isn’t even a bunch of nutroots protesting on some guy’s sidewalk. These are groups of so called law enforcement and lawyers actively working for a political candidate ready to attack any private citizen that writes or speaks something that contradicts their political candidate, who happens to be Obama. By their very nature and actions,,, they are saying,, Obama is the only truth. There is no truth but Obama’s truth. This is very very dangerous. This is so crossing the line.
This is Fascist! In other words, they are saying, you cannot disagree with any statement Obama makes. Or they will attack you with the full weight of their positions within government and law enforcement.
All they are missing are the brown shirts and the swastika armbands!

All they are missing are the brown powder blue shirts and the swastika “O” circle armbands!

America has 30 days to get it.

Well…. for those of you following, on my walk I decided to by some gin. Now I’ve made myself a humumgous martini. By the way, did I tell you I’ve lost the drinking habit. oh well…

For those of you who are not up to speed.

The current Governor of Missouri, Matt Blunt is the son of prominent Republican, longtime Congressman, Roy Blunt. A quite young, first term Governor, our Matt Blunt, year or so ago, in a political atmosphere, increasingly hostile to republicans following the ’06 elections, announced that he would not be seeking a second term. This opened the way for long time democrat Attorney General Jay Nixon, to run for Governor. Nixon is very well known and expected to win. His opponent, Kenny Hulsof, is trailing by something like 20 points. Few have ever believed he can win.

Blunt’s expressed outrage is nice, but as he is something less than merely lame-duck, his political sway,at the moment is something less than overwhelming here abouts.

That should explain the boldness of this move by the Obama camp. The attorney general of Missouri, as are the whole of the democrat nation is anticipating a coronation for the main official, best in position to apply appropriate oversight.

oh yeah… and I’m blitzed now…

the dems in st. louis are slightly less crooked than the rats in chicago. they’re scum.

st. louis is a hell hole, lots of murders, bad schools, just a bad place, and they keep electing those dems to ‘take care’ of them capiche???

LOL don’t know my Mexican states very well, but it would be great if you fellas could go on down and take Cancun and Cozumel while you’re at it. I’ve heard they are lovely, and it would be nice to visit them if they had 1st world standards of hygiene and law enforcement.

MAVERICK
sounds perfect for a McCain cabinet post.

This is freaking me out guys! I want this to make it to every main news channel for everyone to see, and I think it will just disapear. The “tolerant” left, the party (supposedly) for free speech is fighting against all that and blaming the right for it! And getting away with it because the media is helping them!!!!!!!!! ARGGGGH!

I am here in Missouri, southwest Missouri to be exact. Nothing in our “fishwrap” today about this. This is McCain country mostly, thank God. This crap needs to get out to everyone somehow. Jeez, John wins the debate and goes down 2 points and all say that the boy in the empty suit was the winner. We cannot let the media elect our president, no matter who. I hate libs.

AReadyRepub on September 27, 2008 at 11:14 PM

Conservatives usually email, write letters, make calls etc. Were just so “classy”. Well, off our a**es and make some noise. Remember the Cubans in south Florida who raided a voting station while the idiots were busy counting chads? They made some noise and I think helped the end result bigtime. I am sick of this crap!!!

My friend, Don’t expect to see true results from the debate for a few days yet…. at least thats my observation…takes a few days to get a real grasp of things…

mmmm….gin soaked olives… Yum!

kahall…Springfield, me too.

I’ve run this video about ten times now, and I gets more surreal every time I play it. This is unbelievable.

Prosecuting attorneys and county sheriffs running a “truth squad” for a presidential campaign.

The FBI should arrest them immediately.

Nyog_of_the_Bog on September 27, 2008 at 11:30 PM

I see McCain signs all over southeast Missouri. McCain has taken a slight lead in Missouri but St. Louis and Kansas City areas are Democrat and for Obama. There are enough government workers in those two areas plus Jefferson City to win the state for Obama especially if you include the minority population.

Nyog, I rarely listen to 97.1. It really becomes tiresome and hard to keep a positive attitude when you listen to political pundits all of the time. At least Limbaugh has a sense of humor but he’s on another station.

Vince on September 27, 2008 at 11:30 PM
