McCain ad: “Promise”

Last night, Barack Obama tried to say that he never opposed funding for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and that his vote in opposition only intended to force a timetable for withdrawal in Iraq. Today, the McCain campaign responds with a new ad, “Promise”, that they will run nationally:
ANNCR: In the midst of war, Senator Obama voted to cut off funding for our troops. What did Biden say?
JOE BIDEN: “They said they voted against the money to make a political point.”
ANNCR: He added…
JOE BIDEN: “This is cutting off support that will save the lives of thousands of American troops.”
ANNCR: Barack Obama. Playing politics. Risking lives. Not ready to lead.
Here was Obama’s response during the debate:
OBAMA: Jim, there are a whole bunch of things we have got to answer. First of all, let’s talk about this troop funding issue because John always brings this up. Senator McCain cut — Senator McCain opposed funding for troops in legislation that had a timetable, because he didn’t believe in a timetable.
I opposed funding a mission that had no timetable, and was open- ended, giving a blank check to George Bush. We had a difference on the timetable. We didn’t have a difference on whether or not we were going to be funding troops.
Not according to his running mate. According to Joe Biden, the move to defund the troops was deliberate — an attempt to interfere with the surge strategy that wound up winning the war. Biden, Obama, and the rest of the Democrats who voted against the funding wanted to force the administration into a precipitous withdrawal that would have left Iraq a failed state. And it also would have defunded Afghanistan, which Obama has called the central front on the war on terror.
This ad needs to run nationally, and more ads like it need to follow.

Yeah, but we shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
Obama is slime.

Anybody that believes that dolt Obama deserves exactly what they get. The guy is a narcissistic, chronic liar.

None of McCain’s people have a Missouri home address do they? I’d hate for them to get arrested for daring to challeng Barry.

JOE BIDEN: “They said they voted against the money to make a political point.”
Well, maybe they just wanted more braclets.

Hard hitting and to the point. Good job from the McCain camp.

These need to come Thick & Fast, and hammer this clown with his own words. I don’t know what Obama really is, but he SOUNDS like the most doctrinaire Leftoid ever to run for Prez–leftier than Kerry, or even McCovern

Somewhere in the distance, a Hillary cackles.

Democrats who voted against the funding wanted to force the administration into a precipitous withdrawal that would have left Iraq a failed state.
Yeah, let Iraq become another Afghanistan, but then sit there and tell us how we ‘dropped the ball in Afghanistan’. Pathetic. These guys would rather have us lose the war and to say “See? We were right” than to have us win the war and say “Ok, we admit it, we were wrong.”
Tony737 on September 27, 2008 at 2:07 PM
The silence on the Obama Truth Squads is amazing. If GWB proposed anything half so fascistic, it would be headlines in every US paper for a week. As well it should.
Where’s the outrage?
Does the media think, “Well, that’s just our little Barry, acting up again”?
Or do they think, “We would never criticize Barry for anything anyway, so it does not affect us”?

McCain, you gotta have more like this. Go for the jugular, and don’t be shy about rolling out Wright, Ayers, and Rezko. This man doesn’t belong in the White House with friends like that. You’ve got nothing to lose…
changer1701 on September 27, 2008 at 2:13 PM
Fox Fact Check
They parse McCain’s reference to Eisenhower’s alternate address prepared should the Normandy D-Day Invasion fail. McCain explained the military obligation that accompanies such a text from a commanding officer. The officer need not submit the words, “therefore, I submit my formal resignation.” Regardless of how popular Eisenhower was or wasn’t at that point, had Normandy failed, he most assuredly would have been dismissed. For today’s idiots to infer otherwise only proves their own stupidity.

Zero: “I opposed funding a mission that had no timetable.”
Ok, numbnuts, let’s just put a certain date on the mission and end it there, REGARDLESS of the situation in the battlefield. Is that right?
I wish Mac would’ve asked him straight out, Sen. O., if you could choose between losing this election and winning the war or winning the election and losing the war, which would you choose?
The phuqqers pretent like the oppose the war because they don’t want to see our troops killed, but in reality they love to see flag-draped coffins because bad news for America is good news for them. I HATE liberal phuqs who, because it equals political capital for themselves, cheer the loss of our Bravest.

Here’s hoping. The reality is that it, and ads like it, will run in the battleground and leaning states. Why bother running this ad in SoCal?
Mojave Mark on September 27, 2008 at 2:16 PM
Hmmm. I think this is overstating the case, although it might have been the reason why Obama voted against the funding.
I’m just wondering who ANNCR is…
Seixon on September 27, 2008 at 2:19 PM
Overstating the case? Using Osama Obama’s own words and actions to make a point. Using Biden’s own words and actions likewise?
Don’t start believing, like the MSM and the Koo-Ade chuggers of the left do, that words don’t matter. Obama’s own loose mouth convincts him.
He is not ready to lead. Or even follow.

Would have been better if they used past tense, “played politics” since that vote was sometime ago. Otherwise, well done.

An Obama supporter friend of mine asked me why McCain kept saying Obmama didn’t understand anything. He said it made Obama “seem like a little boy”.
My response, “You already know the answer”.
His response, “I gottah go. Bye”
SouthernGent on September 27, 2008 at 2:34 PM
That “not ready to lead” slogan is annoying. It implies that the little commie will be “ready” to be put into a position where he can destroy this country someday, just not today.
Republicans are clueless about fighting liberals and they will lose the country to these communists soon enough.

He sounds like it because that’s exactly what he is.
Voting records don’t lie (but Obama sure does).
AZCoyote on September 27, 2008 at 2:41 PM
I’ve never liked it either, but I guess the McCain camp feels they’d be accused of racism (again) if they told the truth about Obama: “Not Fit to Lead.”
AZCoyote on September 27, 2008 at 2:45 PM
That ad knocks it out of the park!! I think the McCain team has lots of “big guns” to employ as we get closer to the election and we are starting to see a few of them roll out now.
Maxx on September 27, 2008 at 2:52 PM
Forget the vote, read the legislation Obama wrote and tried to get passed. Baracky tried to outlaw the surge, all by his lonesome.

If the Tanks was a typo then perhaps it is a prescient typo. Let’s hope not.

That segment of the debate up on YouTube — I’m sure the Obama crowd loved it, since their candidate was so rude and arrogant, but McCain got a zinger in when Obama kept insisting we shouldn’t have gone to Iraq in the first place:
Nichevo on September 27, 2008 at 3:36 PM
Obama does not pass the Commander-in-Chief smell test, he just smells.
Chakra Hammer on September 27, 2008 at 3:40 PM
Yeah, but we shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
Yeah we should have just ignored the daily violations of the cease-fire and let sanctions end so that Saddam could reconstitute his weapons programs.
Obama was wrong before the war and throughout the war.
He claims that Al Qaeda escaped from Afghanistan because we took our eye off the ball and went into Iraq. He is counting on the majority of voters not knowing that Al Qaeda escaped Afghanistan in December 2001 when they were driven from Tora Bora.
He is also counting on the majority of voters not knowing that Al Qaeda to took a shit-kicking in Iraq and not just at the hands of Americans but at the hands of Americans and Iraqis fighting side by side.

UPDATE TO MR. PHILLIP BERG’S LAWSUIT AGAINST BARACK OBAMA BASED ON OBAMA’S INELIGIBILITY ON HIS CANDIDACY AS REGARDS THE REQUIREMENTS OF NATURAL BORN CITIZENSHIP ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Partial excerpt from an email I sent Mr. Berg:
“I trust the judge did not originally dismiss your lawsuit because it does indeed have merit. We, as Americans, in order to fulfill the intent and directive of our Constitution are bound by patriotic duty to determine the legal status of any citizen running for the Presidency of the United States; such determination of status having to do with a requirement that said citizen must be a natural born citizen. Mr. Obama should be required to present pertinent evidence that would allow a judge or qualified public official to determine if he is, or is not, a natural born citizen. It is a legal requirement.”
Mr. Berg sent this copy of Mr. Obama’s and the DNC’s response.
Update: http://www.nextgenerationcorp.com/NextGenBlog/?p=66
It appears that Mr. Obama is trying to stall the matter. The outstanding issue is Mr. Obama’s birth certificate (Certificate of Live Birth). It appears that so far he has obfuscated this issue as well by providing, or having his agents provide, a false certificate of birth for publication.
But to Mr. Obama’s determent, the people of the United States of America demand that he (Mr. Obama) remove himself from eligibility to run for any political office for which he is not qualified and/or for which he (Mr. Obama) will not publicly present authoritative qualification for his candidacy as required by the Constitution of the United States of America.
God bless.
AdrianS on September 27, 2008 at 4:16 PM
It was so obvious that the Dems in their rabid opposition to the surge, were throwing the troops under the bus in order to score political points. Contrast that with McCain who said publicly that he’d rather lose and election than lose a war.
muggedbyreality on September 27, 2008 at 4:22 PM
The McCain people better hit back as hard and as dirty as the ads that Obama is using against McCain.
Obama’s lies about McCain don’t need to be countered, per se, but equally eviscerating and lampooning portraits of Barry MUST be aired.

So when to do the 527’s ramp up against Obama? We are screwed if they don’t

Thank you, JOE BIDEN.
You are an invaluable asset to the Republican team.
Keep talking, we’ll keep listening.

I used to think Obama, however much I might disagree with him, had more basic decency than Algore and Jacques Kerry.
But now I’m losing respect fast.
petefrt on September 27, 2008 at 7:20 PM
nice ad, but it won’t do a bit of good unless you play it on TV, often.
james23 on September 27, 2008 at 9:53 PM
The trouble with using Sen. Biden’s words against Sen. Obama is that it puts ENORMOUS pressure on anything that Gov. Palin might say, or have said. While I can appreciate a hard-hitting ad, this one skates onto some very treacherous ground. Gov. Palin needs to have a far more public presence in this campaign…and we know that the knives are already out for her.

On a related issue, Flying Aces shows that it was Obama who was wrong when he claimed US forces were not greeted as liberators by the Iraqis in 2003.
Obama to McCain (9/26 debate): You said that we were going to be greeted as liberators. You were wrong.
