I think Obama was displaying the classic effort of looking smart by association.

Frankly I think he said John was right so many times because Obama had no idea what McCain was talking about. Obama was sure that McCain knew what he was talking about.

It was a slick smart move by Obama. It will be interesting if anyone else picks up on this tactic.

Wow, I didn't realize he said that so many times, most of the debate was Obama saying McCain was absolutely right.

I like the idea of tying Obama's comments into support of McCain, but I think this ad could be done a little better. One could easily make the arguement that Obama isn't afraid to admit when his opponent is correct about problems in DC, but is incorrect in how to address the solutions...etc.
I would have liked to see more of a compilation of all 9 items where he agrees perhaps with an outline of McCain's solutions...We want to tie in McCain's solutions to problems that Obama agrees with McCain exist. In essence leaving the impression that Obama also will agree with John on the solutions....Or alternatively, ask the audience the question about McCain for president at the end of the ad. When you go for a job interview, conventional wisdom says to ask for the job at the end of the interview in some form. I'd rather see a positive tie back to McCain at the end about McCain being the "Right" call to lead prefaced with Obama saying he is right 9 times...

UPDATE TO MR. PHILLIP BERG’S LAWSUIT AGAINST BARACK OBAMA BASED ON OBAMA’S INELIGIBILITY ON HIS CANDIDACY AS REGARDS THE REQUIREMENTS OF NATURAL BORN CITIZENSHIP ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Partial excerpt from an email I sent Mr. Berg:

“I trust the judge did not originally dismiss your lawsuit because it does indeed have merit. We, as Americans, in order to fulfill the intent and directive of our Constitution are bound by patriotic duty to determine the legal status of any citizen running for the Presidency of the United States; such determination of status having to do with a requirement that said citizen must be a natural born citizen. Mr. Obama should be required to present pertinent evidence that would allow a judge or qualified public official to determine if he is, or is not, a natural born citizen. It is a legal requirement.”

Mr. Berg sent this copy of Mr. Obama’s and the DNC’s response.

Update: http://www.nextgenerationcorp.com/NextGenBlog/?p=66

It appears that Mr. Obama is trying to stall the matter. The outstanding issue is Mr. Obama’s birth certificate (Certificate of Live Birth). It appears that so far he has obfuscated this issue as well by providing, or having his agents provide, a false certificate of birth for publication.

But to Mr. Obama’s determent, the people of the United States of America demand that he (Mr. Obama) remove himself from eligibility to run for any political office for which he is not qualified and/or for which he (Mr. Obama) will not publicly present authoritative qualification for his candidacy as required by the Constitution of the United States of America.

God bless.

I still don’t like the “ready to lead” line, as if it would be okay for Obama to be president later.

maybe a better on one would be "Bad judgment, NOT Fit for Office"

Barack said in his Greek acceptance speech that McCain didn’t get it. Now he says that McCain gets it on 8-10 significant issues. Looks like both Barrys don’t get it.

At worse you are telling people that your opponent is the better candidate since all you can do is agree with what they’re saying.

Religious_Zealot on September 27, 2008 at 1:27 PM

That's ridiculous. You can't disagree for the sake of disagreeing. The stuff Obama was agreeing too was stuff Obama already wanted like regulation and more accountability in the finance sector.

The ad sends a mixed message. He's not ready to lead because he said McCain was right on some things? If that's the case, what's that say about McCain's positions in the first place?

The ad is good, but would be better with a "rapid fire" version with more than 3...if not all 9...instances of Zerobama saying that. AND GET RID OF THE STUPID "Obama Not Ready to Lead" crap at the end! It doesn't fit with the message of THIS AD. Try: "Born to FOLLOW, not to lead."

I'M waiting for an ad with the excerpt of McCain saying, "I don’t need any on-the-job training. I’m ready to lead now."

In many ways, this election is as much about the change in cultural attitudes and mores in this country as reflected in the candidates as it is anything else. John McCain is probably the last of his generation to run for high public office. He was born prior to the Second World War and grew up during the waning days of the Depression and during the War and its immediate aftermath. He was raised in a culture where the words Honor, Duty, Sacrifice, Public Service, and Courage held real meaning. During a time in which one stood during the National Anthem and placed your hand over your heart without even thinking about it. Now, this is not to say he is a paragon or saint--like all of us he is human and flawed, but he comes from a cultural mindset where your word is golden, a good reputation is essential, and you make your way through hard work.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, came of age during the era known as the "Me Decade"--the Seventies and Eighties--where what mattered was taking care of your needs and desires first. Abstract concepts such as honor and duty were silly old notions held by your grandparents. Also, like many of us born post WW2, he's never really known hard times--he's lived a life of privilege--contrary to the myth he promulgates. For him, it's all about getting ahead--regardless of who or what stands in his way.

Unfortunately, there are now far more of the "Me First" generations running around now than those who believe in "Country First" or "Neighbor First".

Yet another stupid ad by McCain. Obama agrees with him because it’s the right thing to do and McCain asks the question is Obama ready to lead? Thank goodness the independents saw through this crap and voted Obama the winner of the debate.

Let me copy&paste what I wrote on another thread:

The point of a debate is show the difference between yourself and your opponent.

Continuing to agree with your opponent shows that you have nothing substantive to add to his position.

Thus, at best you are telling people that it really doesn’t matter WHO you vote for.

At worse you are telling people that your opponent is the better candidate since all you can do is agree with what they’re saying.

Somebody somewhere should be printing up bumper stickers with a picture of Barry and the text: “I ran for President and all I got was a bracelet.”

“I have a bracelet too” was the cringe line of the night. He was obviously waiting to drop it, and it showed. When he had to read it to remember the guy’s name… ugh.

Snark...I swear I didn't make this up from the YouTube comments:

if the choice one had to make was between a barbaric maniac, with a warrior personality from the medieval ages, with a narrow sense of ill-guided absolutism and confrontationalism...
--- or ---
...a civilized statesman, with a negotiator personality of the 21st Century globe, and a broad sense of compromising, common-ground-like adaptability and unity....

Then please give me BARACK OBAMA for the Presidency of this Great Nation - for the sake of our next generation.
