Video: The 1984 Miss Alaska pageant; Update: Video restored

Via Breitbart and HuffPo. Surprisingly, it doesn’t appear to be oppo research: Not only is the guy who (claims he) found it willing to show his face in the vid, but his YouTube account’s been active for two years.
He’s promising more to come, including the talent competition segment in which she plays the flute. Fun and humanizing for most of us, fun and humiliating for media types already given to comparing her to Miss Teen South Carolina.
Update: And almost at the minute I publish this post, it’s yanked from YouTube in a copyright claim. Um, how does Splash News have the copyright to this very old video? And more importantly, when are they planning to roll it out?
Update: I feel obliged to give you something to watch, so here’s College Humor’s middling takeoff on Matt Damon comparing Palin to a Disney movie.

I don’t see anything bad about this, even though Dim’s want to play it that way.
Basically, nothing she’s said or done these past few weeks makes me think, “Gee, maybe Obama would be better…” The man doesn’t like me having guns–oh, unless I want to shoot squirrels–because he knows nothing of the original intend of the Second Amendment. Apparently there’s this other Amendment, the Right to Safety, that I’ve never heard about, and he feels this other right trumps my right to bear arms. Well OK, come and get ‘em…

Heh. I was wondering when this would surface. FWIW, the young Miss Wasilla has a better figure than I thought she would.
Net effect on my voting preference? Zero.
If, as I hope, McCain / Palin wins the election, I think a freeze-frame of this video should be painted on the nose of the lead bomber in the formation that takes out the Iranian nukes. Maybe a caption, “Here comes trouble.”
Do they still paint pinup pictures on the nose of bombers?

If I said she knows how to shake it, would that be disrespectful? I actually got a South Carolina pageant vibe from her for a moment when I watched an out of context reply from her to Katie Couric.
Yes, Sarah has her detractors, who hate her, who want to destroy her, demean her, shame and humiliate her. I’m reminded of the Tao Te Ching #41, first paragraph:
On hearing of the Way, the best of men

But vulgar people, when they hear the news,

That is to say, Sarah Palin is the genuine thing, and that’s why so many want to destroy her. She defies their understanding of reality. To them she is levitating, so there must be hidden wires or some other fraud. Instead, it’s their understanding that’s wrong. She’s really just a hockey mom, aka a pitbull with lipstick, a modest conservative with a personal religious faith, who cares for her family and wants to help people help themselves, who will be the next VP of the US.

I still haven’t sen anything that kills my enthusiasm for Gov. Palin. Trust me, that walk and little twirl takes a helluva lot of confidence and is not as easy as it looks to stay calm and composed during the walk.
