Nuance: Biden suddenly decides he’s all for clean coal

posted at 5:15 pm on September 26, 2008 by Allahpundit

Via Mary Katharine Ham. I say unto you for the third time this week: The man’s a genius.

Campaigning in Pennsylvania coal country on Thursday, the Democratic vice presidential nominee said the government should steer more money to clean coal — a term used to describe a variety of emerging technologies that burn coal for electricity without producing as much pollution.

“I am for clean coal,” he told The Associated Press following a speech in Wilkes-Barre…

The Delaware senator was working a rope line in Maumee, Ohio, on Sept. 17 when a voter asserted that wind and solar energy were “flourishing” in Ohio and then asked Biden why he supported clean coal.

“We’re not supporting clean coal,” Biden replied, putting his hands on the woman’s shoulders. “Guess what? China’s building two every week, two dirty coal plants, and it’s polluting the United States. It’s causing people to die.”

It about time for someone to make a website: http://www.lolbiden.com

It writes itself.

Biden’s incompetence is causing me to die.

…Biden (or, more properly, Biden’s servants) authored a bill concerning solar power…does the sun even shine in Delaware? It’s small, long and skinny. Don’t they have to move it back and forth between Maryland and the sea to catch the sunbeams?

…it must be a place that defies the usual laws of light, space and gravity…look who they’ve had as senator for the last 35 years?

Puritan1648 on September 26, 2008 at 5:19 PM

Who knew there were people stupid enough to keep voting him in? Delware? Poor, poor people: you could run a dead cat against Biden and the cat should, by all reason and common sense, win!

AubieJon on September 26, 2008 at 5:20 PM

If his lips are moving he’s lying.

TooTall on September 26, 2008 at 5:20 PM

It’s just Joe being Joe.

Meanwhile, were you aware that Palin doesn’t know who the City Dogcatcher in Phnom Penh is; what a disgrace!

Bishop on September 26, 2008 at 5:20 PM

And this surprises anyone…other than the MSM of course. To them it’s Democratic “nuance”. Something the rest of us call “talking out of the other side of your mouth”.

GarandFan on September 26, 2008 at 5:20 PM

He’s a dem, it’s cool.

Spirit of 1776 on September 26, 2008 at 5:21 PM

Palin has so much ammunition, it will confuse her. Often in tennis a “sitter” comes over the net, you have so many options you dump it into the net or hit it out.
I hope Palin doesn’t get like that…he is a “sitter”, she has to put him away.

right2bright on September 26, 2008 at 5:22 PM

Senator Biden, I know Yogi Berra, Yogi Berra is a friend of mine. You, sir, are NO Yogi Berra.

Elizabetty on September 26, 2008 at 5:22 PM

Damn, the Veep debate should allow them to question each other…

Palin: Senator Biden, you were for coal mining, then you were against it, then you were for it again. It’s understandable that you might change your position on an issue during your 36 years as a Washington insider. But flip-flopping twice in one week? It’s not the kind of thing those of us from small towns expect from our representatives. Can you explain to the American people why they should expect that any opinion that you express tonight you’ll still hold tomorrow?

aunursa on September 26, 2008 at 5:23 PM

Is it time to start tying flip flops to sticks and storming the castle?

HawaiiLwyr on September 26, 2008 at 5:23 PM

Sadly, the left and its sheep will chalk it up to “misspoke”.

Of course, he’s a liar, and so is the left.

madmonkphotog on September 26, 2008 at 5:24 PM

Unqualified for VP.

Imagine, God forbid a thousand times, something happened to Obama.

THIS moron would be President?

As the leftists say, this is a sick joke.

I still say a Biden-HilDawg swap is in the works.

kareyk on September 26, 2008 at 5:43 PM

Mr Magoo, thanks, he had to buy a car that spews lots of “clean” emissions into the air – since it’s pre-emission standards.

I read where they hooked up a motorcycle (not sure specifics) to an emission tester, and it was about 90% dirtier than a mid sized SUV.

Grue- you *eat* so much- you better watch it you’re going to get fat. Good thing trans-fats have been banned!

kareyk on September 26, 2008 at 5:44 PM

Umm, Guys?

We could be looking at President Biden here – think of this as a preview and ask yourself: wouldn’t he be better than Obama?

Or, to put it differently, how many different grounds are there now to have President Obama removed from Office even before the swearing in? From Logan act violations to criminal associations the guy’s a target for a dozen actions – and does anyone think the country wouldn’t be better off with Biden? or that the Democrats would hesitate if they had any kind of legal argument against President McCain?

Paul Murphy on September 26, 2008 at 5:46 PM

Hey guys,

[My thoughts on Biden, any and all of which would get me banned - DELETED]

Thanks for letting me vent!

innominatus on September 26, 2008 at 5:47 PM

Weird ticket they got there. The top of the ticket acts like he is Joe Stalin and his #2 acts like a cross between Corky and Ty Webb.

grdred944 on September 26, 2008 at 5:48 PM

Now that McCain has un-suspended his campaign, let’s bring out the “Coal-Miner” ad again, add the newest clip, and then “McCain-Palin: Always for clean-coal power plants.”

Steve Z on September 26, 2008 at 5:51 PM

He’s for super clean coal, you know the kind that will never make it to any electricity plants in the USA, and will only wind up in Chinese electricity plants. Hope this clears up the apparent contradiction.

eaglewingz08 on September 26, 2008 at 5:54 PM

Senator Biden, I know Yogi Berra, Yogi Berra is a friend of mine. You, sir, are NO Yogi Berra.

Wasn’t Yogi Berra the guy who said “I came to a fork in the road, and I took it”? Change “road” to “mouth”, and that’s Joe Biden.

Steve Z on September 26, 2008 at 5:54 PM

The top of that ticket is a cross between Al Capone and Jimmy Carter. The ruthlessness of the former and the cluelessness of the latter.

Save Our Biden!

freeus on September 26, 2008 at 6:14 PM

Joe Biden tells Katie Couric that FDR went on television in 1929 to calm the public’s fears after the market crashed — except FDR wasn’t president in 1929 (Hoover was), and FDR’s first television appearance didn’t happen until 1939 (to an audience of 1,000 — the total number of people who had sets capable of picking up the transmission). The MSM ignores Biden’s shocking display of ignorance, because they’re too busy trying to portray Gov. Palin as an ignorant, in-bred hillbilly, who lacks sufficient education to take on the role of VP.

Ironic, isn’t it?

Joe is going to drop out for health reasons, and up jumps the she-devil! Just watch.

becki51758 on September 26, 2008 at 6:45 PM

You know we aren’t right when we laugh at Sen. Biden and have a heart attack at Gov. Palin. Or maybe it is just the discrepancy in the coverage.

Cindy Munford on September 26, 2008 at 6:55 PM

“Guess what? China’s building two every week, two dirty coal plants, and it’s polluting the United States. It’s causing people to die.”

And that tidbit coming in the wake of Obama’s post-Olympic chastisement of America, when he told us we should be more like China.

Whatever it is, I’m for and against it. And I’ve kept yelling since I first commenced it, “I’m for and against it.”
