New 527 ad responds to Obama attack on McCain’s computer abilities

John McCain didn’t want to respond in kind to Barack Obama’s silly and ignorant attack on McCain’s inability to e-mail, but a 527 group has decided to fill the vacuum on their own. In a 30-second spot called “Wounded Veterans”, Lt. Col. Mike Fairhead asks Obama why he attacks McCain’s war wounds:
I’m certain that this will once again start the hysteria about 527s, “swift boating”, and unfair personal attacks among Obama’s defenders. Well, I’d say that Lt. Col. Fairhead may go a little far in claiming that Obama attacked McCain’s war injuries, since it looks more like a case of incompetence than anything else. That certainly was the net effect, if not the intent.
I’d also say too bad. Their original ad itself was, even without the easily-researchable cause of McCain’s disability, pointless and misleading. McCain has led on technology issues (although he did not, as McCain himself laughingly noted, invent the Blackberry). The fate of the Western world does not hinge on the ability to personally send an e-mail, especially when the White House has been known to hire an aide or two for those kinds of purposes. On the other hand, the false logic of “How can McCain understand the tech world if he can’t send an e-mail” certainly opens Obama to the more substantial logic of “How can Obama understand the military if he’s never served,” or “How can Obama handle the biggest executive job in the Free World without any executive experience at all,” and so on.
Let the whiners gripe about the marginal overreach in this ad. Call it an idiot tax for Team Obama and their failure to do basic research on the original spot. Joe Biden’s original verdict on that spot being included in this ad is priceless as well.

Awesome – especially with the quote of Biden in there.

The words “I loathe the military” would fit very well in OBambi’s mouth.

Ugh… I am so tired of the 527 ads from the Democratic Party here in Alaska against Stevens and Palin.
This isn’t so bad, but good Lord I can’t tell who is doing the add until the end of the commerical and then I just want to throw my TV out of my window.

I thought a Barry talking-head did admit on Fox that they knew about McCain’s torture injuries affecting his typing, but ran it anyway?

I just wish the debates were over, McCain/Palin had already put OBiden in their place, and we were just watching them and the MSM twist in the breeze.

Yeah. McCain up 10 on Nov. 3rd would be nice.

So, again, Joe Biden proves his VALUE to the Republican Party.
Thanks JOE!

What I don’t understand is how the term “swiftboating” came to mean “lying and twisting facts” when all it did was to show testimony of dozens of men who were there…

I sure do I’m tired of it already and we have over a month to go.

The Debates are about the only thing I am looking for since the Media won’t leave Alaska. It is becoming a weird feeding frenzy up here and I heard that some dumb NYT Journalist Bimbo got kicked out of Koots (www.koots.com) for being vulgar. I wish the media would leave my damn State!

McCain was never going to respond to Obama’s ad and now Palin doesn’t have to. Let them take the high road while this ad sets the record straight.

A 527 should go after Ayers and the plot to bomb the Ft Dix NCO dance. Use a military guy who was injured with an IED.
Ayers may have been mainstreamed in Chicago, but throughout much of America, he would have been treated as a pariah.

Even if they didn’t know about his war injuries, it doesn’t make much sense to say that a Navy fighter/bomber pilot that could navigate well enough to find, and land on, a rolling carrier deck in the middle of the ocean is too technologically impaired to operate a desktop computer.

As someone who is both disabled and old, I hope Obama and his acolytes are hit hard and often by as many as possible on their campaign’s insensitivity to the disabled and their snide remarks about the elderly.
So, I like this ad.

Oops, I meant “some of the comments against Kerry turned out to be false”. That’s why the term “swift boating” developed as it has.

He has flip flopped so many times he makes Kerry look steady as a rock. Not one negative word. Everywhere I look I see it and it burns my ass.

We need some ads Asking Obama why he sold out his constituents to Rezko in 1997 and took campaign cash and still continued to take lots money from him for YEARS later, and never Blew the whistle.. why did Obama do a land and house deal with him AFTER Rezko was exposed as being totally corrupt and it was reported every day in the Chicago papers(Did Obama NOT care or didn’t he care? why didn’t he expose Any corruption of any of his cronies in Chicago?)

The MSM currently exists to elect Obama. They will do whatever they believe is necesary to achieve that. I’d like to say once you accept that nothing they do will shock you anymore…but that just isn’t true.
The polls show the American people see that, but we will see whether they really are taking that into consideration come the election, won’t we?

Hell, I know you true political junkies like to keep it all polite and warm-&-fuzzy, but the sad truth is that Osama Obama is scum. He will use any means to get elected, and doesn’t give a rat’s butt about truth, honor or any of those other old-fashioned notions.
To steal a line from Calvin & Hobbes, Obama needs to be “skooshed like a bug” in November. Otherwise, what little remains of moral codes and reasoned argument in this country will vanish forever.

Too bad, alright. It’s not just incompetence, but incompetence compounded by malicious intent.
petefrt on September 24, 2008 at 12:47 PM
I have to disagree with that assessment. To write this off as a case of imcompetence one would have to believe that it was more likely than not that Team Obama just missed the infirmaiton on McCain’s injuries that were linked in the press to his inability to work a keyboard.
And coming from the Obama organization, the chance they missed it is improbable. Over 2500 paid volunteers, 300 paid bloggers, 300 top level advisers, thousands of volunteers and supporters donating their time and resources as contributions in kind, and the most money of any campaign in history makes it almost impossible that someone in Obama’s camp missed this. They knew it and they chose to expolit it.
If it WAS a case of imcompetence, just how in the hell does Obama propose to run a country when he bumbles so badly on something like this?

I can imagine the DailyKos folks will blow a gasket.
petunia on September 24, 2008 at 1:01 PM
I wonder, will Barry take the time to answer Lt. Col. Fairhead’s question? Probably not, but what’s more important is why Palin’s handlers are keeping her out of harms way: away from the Obamedia.
Christine on September 24, 2008 at 1:03 PM
I agree the corruption angle is more troubling to me than any other. And the way the media covers for him now I can’t imagine they will magically start reporting truthfully when he is in office. That means he and his corrupt friends will have free reign.
It will be change alright. We can have more and more corruption forever.

A 72 year old guy so frail he can’t sit at a desk and type on a keyboard is really a healthy guy – perfect for a high stress no sleep job like the president.
Dave Rywall on September 24, 2008 at 1:09 PM
The “McCain can’t email” ad was an attempt by The Chosen One to lock up the netroots generation.
I suspect that the campaign thinking was more an attempt to portray McCain as “old” and that tech-savvy young people should not trust someone who can’t do something as simple as email. Thus, the only choice for President becomes the youthful, hip Obama.
