Thanks for the flaccid Galileo analogy, burt, but maybe read this before using such an intellectually lazy argument. One so lazy that scientifically-illiterate MSM columnists use it often themselves to promote manmade global climate change/global warming or to attack the Roman Catholic Church over other issues e.g. abortion on demand.

And Google these if you're so inclined:

The Goracle global warming scam is going so badly that he's now willing to sacrifice your children for his cause. Actually I'm sure he was always willing to sacrifice your children for his cause, but he is so desperate now that he's saying it out loud.

I'm glad to hear from someone in the area... but I have to argue you can't cut the top of a mountain off and expect to return it to how it was... nature is a little harder to produce than that. drainage for one is critical to the local ecology and population... one of the major effects I've seen is flash flooding and mud sludge...

you can't just put an airport there of a bunch of houses and think ... that's better... not if there is an option as easy as nuclear... these mountains were made over millions of years and were going to let them cut the tops off of them? and continue to do the same to more and more of them? what if there is coal under all of them?

I just have to disagree... there's a better way...

Two ancient Greeks had views about where the center of the universe, or at least the solar system, was located. Aristarchus got it right and Aristotle got it wrong. Aristotle was the big cat, the equivalent of a Nobel Prize winner. His incorrect ideas were adopted and became official Catholic dogma. People who questioned the dogma were subject to severe punishment. Some suspected that the dogma was incorrect but kept their mouths closed and didn't publish. Copernicus waited until 1543 when he was dying to publish. Galileo published papers and was warned by the Inquisition to keep quiet in 1616. He then published a book in 1632. This time the Inquisition convicted him of heresy, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. The sentence was commuted to house arrest after he recanted and because of his age.

Anthropological Global Warming is a theory which is at odds with a significant body of observational evidence which goes back to Viking and even Roman times. Questioning this theory is not tolerated in a number of places including some journals and scholarly meetings and especially debating The One. Aren't we lucky to live in an enlightened age when questioning official dogma is only punished by the rage of The One and plans for wasting a substantial portion of the GNP.

Dear Senator Gore,
So now you are telling young people that they need to foment revolution if one more coal fired plant is built?
C'mon Al, why the need to call for violence? That's not at all necessary, you are just gonna get alot of ppl hurt talking that way.
Yeah, I know, Obama is just a community activist, but you, you're a global activist charged singlehandedly with saving the whole PLANET!

You're not starting to believe your own secret slogan, are you?:

"Save the World, Save the Cheerleader"

When are you gonna wake up and understand that Mankind is just Gaia's way of realizing her own need to retreive and spread across its surface, all that energy & mineralwealth for aeons locked deep within its crust? Maybe Gaia wants it where she can see it and put it to other uses in a few millions of years....
Its called 'recycling', al, perhaps you heard of it?
Gaia's just doing her thing, clearing out the basement and hauling stuff out on the lawn in the sunshine.
So what if it's dirty work, it needs to get done every spring, or 350 million years, give or take.
Just shut up already and get out of the planet's face about it. She doesn't need you screaming in her ear right now. Got it?

Ever figure that 'Anthropogenic' (man-caused) global warming might very well be an intrinsic and necessary part of the Earth's own regular climactic cycles?
So she's using us instead of volcanoes to do her dirty work, and you're pissed, right?
And you're complaining that she's also getting crud on your Little Lord Fauntleroy outfit. Boo hoo.

Now here's a shocker, so listen up Al.
What if "global change" is just Earth's warm intake of breath preparing her climate while our planet enters another 'galactic seasonal change' as our own solar system spins its path around the Milky Way?

Now if planets within solar systems have seasons, doesn't it make sense that all solar systems also have seasons within their galaxy?

And think what might that mean ultimately for planet Earth?
...and, of course most importantly, for Your EarthSaverEcoemminence, Nobel Peace Prize winner, right Senator????

Yours,
Beauregard BluePlanet, Esq.

Kind of humorous that Gore is such an admirer of Jimmy Carter. I still remember when he was President, Carter was expounding the production and use of coal all over the place, especially Kentucky coal. So how would Gore respond if someone ever threw a question like that at him at one of his conferences? Would be interesting.

We already know Gore isn’t stupid, he’s just a liar (as Coulter puts it), and that he doesn’t really believe in this climate change nonsense in the first place, so why is he now trying to play the part of the “true believer”.
RightWinged on September 25, 2008 at 7:16 AM

I don't buy that Gore is all that smart, but I do believe he is insane - like a mad scientist, and like most deranged dictators who think it's cool to prosecute people because they disagree on an issue (which, despite Gore's claim, is not based on "material fact" but on deception).

I just wish the Brits would take him off our hands. Offer him a nice castle somewhere, with a great big basement he can use to set up his freaky deaky computer models. Maybe give him a knighthood like they did with Robert Mugabe. I'm sure he'd like nothing better than to be called Sir Albert Gore.

“I believe for a carbon company to spend money convincing the stock-buying public that the risk from the global climate crisis is not that great represents a form of stock fraud because they are misrepresenting a material fact,” he said. “I hope these state attorney generals around the country will take some action on that.”

I wonder how many carbon companies Gore has a piece of.

Reading this, it sounds to me like Gore et al intend to turn the coal industry into Phillip Morris et al.

Are they resurrecting their anti-tobacco tactics, just changing the target? Sure sounds like it (especially the attorney generals part).

Gore added "I'm super cereal, you guys!"... Then manbearpig came in and vomited on him.

Seriously though, wtf is this:

“If you’re a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration,” Gore told the Clinton Global Initiative gathering to loud applause.

We already know Gore isn't stupid, he's just a liar (as Coulter puts it), and that he doesn't really believe in this climate change nonsense in the first place, so why is he now trying to play the part of the "true believer". Keep in mind that this is the guy who uses something like 20 times the electricity of the rest of us, and seems to be constantly flying around the globe, often in private jets, cruising in gas guzzling land vehicles, etc. etc. Only after scrutiny does he start (or claim to start) "offsetting", and then outfitting his home with solar, etc. etc.

But the point is, why live so large in the first place? Why not lead by example, and show all of us normal folk (who aren't millionaires) how to "go green" on limited budgets? The reason? Because he knows it's all horsesh**!!!

So again, I ask - Why does he now suddenly sound like a loony "true believer" type, encouraging law breaking? I really, really hope we can jail him and his ilk one day for what they have done. But then again, they'll always claim "it was the best science we had at the time". A convenient loophole. Just like how kids have been lied to for the past couple hundred years about how "Neanderthals" where some sort of knuckle dragging ancestor to modern man, but now in the face of the evidence, even evolutionists are having to admit that we lived along side each other (and were both HUMAN!!!), and that we likely carry some of their genes today, from "interbreeding". This brings us back to the racism of evolution, by the way... We could take skeletons of different peoples from different parts of the world, and compare them to each other, and a modern "scientist" would look at them and say that one was closer to "modern humans" than the other.

Not only did Woody call for civil disobedience, he also suggested that some people face prosecution for stating that global warming is a myth.

And to think we came "this close to having him as President.
