The more Daley gets prompted into defending Obama, the better America can see the kind of environment that produced Obama, and the utter lack of effort Obama put into reforming it.

Ed, you said a mouthful. I grew up in the Chicago area and my parents still live there. Out them for the crooks that they are (Daley and co, not my parents). :)

It's fun to see our very own Squeaky da Mare on a national stage. If there is a stupider, more ridiculous-appearing person in the public eye, I don't know who it would be. He is a well-kept secret.

I only got this far:

Oh, really? The Chicago Tribune suggests that Mayor Daley keep up with the family’s Christmas newsletters:

before I started laughing out loud! Fortunately, I did not have any liquids in my mouth or I might not be typing this right now.

Watch out that the river wards don't factor into this election a la 1960 and Kennedy's win. There is a saying that probably originated in Chicago: "Vote early, vote often."

Couric asks Obama and McCain what their favorite movies are:

Obama: Oh, I think it would have to be the Godfather. One and two. Three not so much. So--so--but that--that saga I love that movie.

COURIC to Obama: Do you have a favorite scene?

Obama: Love--love those movies. I--you know--so many of them. I think my favorite has to be --you know, the opening scene of the first Godfather where, you know, the opening scene of the first Godfather where the caretaker comes in and, you know, Marlon Brando is sitting there and he's saying "you disrespected me. You know and now you want a favor." You know it sets the tone for the whole movie. Now there--

COURIC: And all hell breaks lose, right?

Obama: Yeah, right. I mean there's this combination of old world gentility and you know, ritual with this savagery underneath. It's all about family

Interesting............

via HotAir headlines, the "Davis got 15K a month" appears to be another NYT smear job:

Today the New York Times launched its latest attack on this campaign in its capacity as an Obama advocacy organization. Let us be clear about what this story alleges: The New York Times charges that McCain-Palin 2008 campaign manager Rick Davis was paid by Freddie Mac until last month, contrary to previous reporting, as well as statements by this campaign and by Mr. Davis himself.

In fact, the allegation is demonstrably false. As has been previously reported, Mr. Davis separated from his consulting firm, Davis Manafort, in 2006. As has been previously reported, Mr. Davis has seen no income from Davis Manafort since 2006. Zero. Mr. Davis has received no salary or compensation since 2006. Mr. Davis has received no profit or partner distributions from that firm on any basis -- weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual -- since 2006. Again, zero. Neither has Mr. Davis received any equity in the firm based on profits derived since his financial separation from Davis Manafort in 2006.

1. Bill Daley not only acted as a lobbyist, he was a Fannie Mae board member.

2. People debating how much Obama took from the GSEs should also consider the almost $400,000 he took from Lehman Bros. Obama has taken more cash from the financial/insurance/real estate sector than McCain. Obama has taken about three times as much money from lawyers and lobbyists as McCain.

Well now genealogist are looking at the Birth Certificate the official document that was posted for Obama, and it has problems. You know this is very sloppy, I wonder who uploaded this version of Obama's birth certificate. This one has been tampered with or photo shopped. Back when Obama was born in 1961 his father's race would not be designated "African" it would have been designated "Negro" so why was this document offered up as proof of Obama's U.S. citizenship. This is what genealogist do they look at a document in this case a vital record: Birth, Marriage and Death, and go over it this one is not passing the smell test.

The more Daley gets prompted into defending Obama, the better America can see the kind of environment that produced Obama, and the utter lack of effort Obama put into reforming it.

Ed, you say that like you believe the American people actually care. There has been so much of this stuff out there for all to see - Rev. Wright, Ayers, Rezko - to name but a few; and yet The One is still worshipped and adored by the sheeple.

I despair for my country.

If lobbyists are so "bad" then outlaw them. If Obama thinks that lobbyists are that bad, create a bill to ban them from contacting any senator...let's see how far that bill gets.
You have Feinstein funneling contracts to her husbands off shore firms, and she is asked to "step down" from chairmanship...Rains makes 20,30, 40 you name the millions, working with Obama...oh yeah, he is not on the payroll so that is okay. Well you don't have to pay someone a wage if they have already made 50 million off of you. Duhhhh!!!

You have barely a clue what's going on here in Chicago. Yesterday Daley told neighborhood bars to stop selling beer after the 7th inning of Cubs games. His quote was "I don't care. They've made enough money already". He siad if they don;t comply voluntarily he'll find ways to make sure they are put out of buisiness entirely using "nuisance comlaints". Remember when Chicago banned foie gras?

"Also sounds like I’ll be voting third party."

By all means, vote for the hobos that no one would think of paying to do anything, but stay away.

Except for that Wayne Allen Root guy. He's got a three team parlay on Saturday that's a STONE COLD LEAD PIPE LOCK! AND IF YOU CALL NOW . . . "

I like Wayne Allen Root because he graduated from Columbia the same year as Obama and says "never saw the guy here, didn't know him".

And by the way, $15,000 a month is peanuts in Washington. That’s a minimum retainer for a firm like Davis’. A serious, active lobbying effort costs $50,000 a month and up.

Disgraced Gov. Spitzer dropped up to $80,000 on sex with prostitutes, sources revealed.

$15,000 a month for 3 years = $540,000. So, compared to Obama’s Freddie contribution, I’d say that’s a lot.

The govt will take about 1/2 of that in taxes. You don't have to pay taxes on <strike>bribes</strike> campaign contributions.

Try this instead.

Firm owned by McCain campaign manager is paid $15,000 a month to lobby.
Obama paid over $120,000 by Freddy Mac.

How does that comparison sound.

Sounds like the McCain guy will pass the Obama guy in a matter of months.

Also sounds like there's no significant difference between the parties.

Also sounds like I'll be voting third party.

$15,000 a month for 3 years = $540,000. So, compared to Obama’s Freddie contribution, I’d say that’s a lot.

The fair comparison would be to say that Rick Davis wasn’t personally doing $540,000 worth of lobbying, whereas the former CEO of Freddie or Fannie (I forget which) was responsible for picking Obama’s VP.

A lobbiest does real work. What did the money to Obama buy?
