[...] Now certainly discussion on whether Obama will eventually replace Biden with someone less moronic has been an increasingly popular topic. And I’d argue not with out reason, especially this last week as he appears to be almost willfully sabotaging the Obama campaign. And apparently the Gaffed One continues his antics.
Gilda on September 24, 2008 at 2:53 PM
...Get back to Washington and solve this problem....

My first response to hearing McCain was suspending campaigning to get back to Washington was this: He thinks he's in real trouble here. Barry is beating him up on the Economy, and he's got to do something to change the dynamic. That may be correct.

As a political move, McCain is also demonstrating a leadership quality that Obama has none of. He is still inside Obama's OODA loop.

All that said, the solutions being discussed here all amount, in one degree or another, to more of the same....more regulation, some new agency with new, consolidated powers. We're really not changing the fundamentals here...Nobody is suggesting that we bring back Moral Hazard. It is all still just a matter of degree. I recommend John Stossel's recent opinion piece.

This is going to be a test of the American voter. Will the pay attention to the fact that McCain is going back to Washington to exercise leadership in a crisis or will they continue to fawn on the Rock Star who will be out campaigning? My bet is that MSM will tell the public that McCain is ducking the debate that he would surely lose to posture in DC. I believe that the average voter will buy it.

It's over and so is the Republic.

Jim A. Johnson(Connected to Obama's Campaign) managing director with Lehman Brothers and vice chairman of Fannie Mae, Nadhmi Auchi has ties to Rezko who's bank loaned millions of dollars to him, Auchi had $250 Million tied to Lehman..

Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama was quick to blame the bankruptcy of Wall Street giant Lehman Brothers on Republicans’ “failed philosophy”. Obama’s September 15 comments were repeated throughout the media--yet reporters have not noted Obama’s glaring conflict of interest—the Lehman debt owed to a bank owned by the financier who loaned millions of dollars to Tony Rezko.

Jockeying among the other debtors seeking repayment under Chapter 11 bankruptcy rules is BNP Paribas, a large French bank whose largest single private shareholder is Nadhmi Auchi’s General Mediterranean Holdings (GMH). BNP Paribas is owed $250 million by Lehman.

Nadhmi Auchi is an Iraqi whose Baathist ties go back to 1959. A formerly high-ranking official in Iraq’s Oil Ministry, Auchi left Iraq at the end of the 1970s. His wealth then grew exponentially as a procurer of arms for Saddam Hussein’s government during the Iran–Iraq war. He is now one of the richest men in Britain. Saddam Hussein in 1995 selected BNP, which later merged with Paribas, as the sole conduit bank handling Oil-for-Food transactions. This Clinton-era arrangement was changed in 2001 by the incoming Bush administration.

Auchi was also a key financial backer for Chicago political fixer and dual US-Syrian citizen Tony Rezko. This writer explained the complex web of relationships in an August 24 article titled, “Iraqi Billionaire Threatens Reporters Investigating Rezko Affair”:

Announcer:

While the American economy staggered thanks to the Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae scandal, Congress was called in to act.
    John McCain answered the call.
    Barack Obama kept campaigning.
Tell me… who do you think puts his country first.
    Barack Obama? No.
    John McCain? Yes.
    Country first.
    Vote McCain/Palin.

I’m either orr and I approve this message.

Maybe, after the vote, Mr. McCain should submit an invoice to the Obama campaign...consultancy fee....

New electoral contest:

From among the list below, choose who will have frittered away the Obama campaign's farm and squandered the most political capital by incompetence, mismanagement of facts, ham-handed ads and utterances, arrogant presumption of an entitlement to power, and lack of coordination.

1) Barak Obama himself
2) Joe "What-did-I-just-say?" Biden
3) Ham-faced fratboy staffers
4) Doctrinaire, lockstep ideological bloggers
5) Doctrinaire, lockstep ideological sold-out journalists
6) The Democratic Party leadership

Winners announced 5 November.

Grand prize winner gets a macaroni-and-cheese dinner with me, Puritan1648. No purchase necessary. Transportation not provided.

John McCain asked the Presidential Debate Commission on Wednesday to postpone Friday’s scheduled debate with Barack Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.

The Arizona Republican senator said he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged Obama to do the same.
This is him putting country first!
