Video: NRA drops four new ads on Obama

posted at 4:23 pm on September 22, 2008 by Allahpundit
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Currently airing in Pennsylvania and coming soon to a swing state near you. They’re all worth watching but here’s the one that should get the most attention. I eagerly await the media’s decoding of these very conservative, very anti-Obama, and therefore per se very racist spots.

Exit question: Does Joe Biden approve this message?

Ahem…it’s actually sister, not bro…but anyhow, I found this when I googled flag etiquette. When you hang a flag vertically from a building, the blue field is on the top left.

Hang the flag vertically in a window or draped over a building, with the field of stars to the left of anyone looking at it from the street.

I’m not a one issue type of guy, but this is one is key. A government that can’t trust it’s citizens can’t be trusted to govern them reasonably. And one that demands a monopoly on force will tend to use it for it’s own purposes. At least until just the threat of force, and the inability to resist it, is enough to beat everybody into submission.

And besides, I just really love to put a bunch of little holes, all grouped really close together, in a piece of paper waaaaaaaaaaaaay over there…

I second the comment that “I’m not bitter–I’m blessed!” is by far the most memorable and compelling line of the campaign so far. The One’s negative, elitist verbal garbage sounds nastier (and nuttier) than ever when contrasted with these images of family, faith, hard work, tradition, patriotism, constitutional rights. Beyond the pure p.r. genius, though, the reason the ad actually works so beautifully is that there is basic truth behind it. Despite all our problems and shortcomings, deep down we know that “America the Beautiful” is fact, not fiction.

grits on September 22, 2008 at 11:03 PM

The gun ads are good, although I wish one of them had some Palin footage.

I hope they have footage of the guys from American Chopper presenting McCain with a special POW bike today. That’s the kind of publicity money can’t buy!

Great photo.

Factcheck.org is hitting these ads fairly hard but Obama’s rhetoric and his voting record on this matter are clear, if he could, he’d take’em all.

Remember New Orleans!

Obama’s campaign is using an ex-Redskins football player to run an ad saying that Obama respects our 2nd Amendment rights and does not want to take our guns.

So far everybody I shoot with knows about Obama’s 97% liberal voting record and his attempt to ban all handguns and semi-automatic weapons.

Obama’a lies will not work on the vast majority of gun owners in NC. and he won’t get his hands on my:

Colt AR-15 223.
Colt AR-15 7.62×39 (pre-ban)
Stag Arms 6.8

Dam# it’s great to be an American!!

listing this was totally un-necessary but I had fun doing
it and it gave me a good excuse to go through my safe in the
middle of the night.
Even though I have been married for 20 yrs.,have a beautiful daughter, a double major in Information systems/Business,and own my own business,I guess I am still
considered one of those bitter, knuckle dragging, bible thumping, gun owners hanging on to my religion.

I really don’t believe these narcissistic elitist idiots
realize just how stupid they appear to the people that are
actually contributing to this country instead of sitting on a mountain of judgment like them, sneering at everybody that
doesn’t share their views and opinions.

Baxter Greene on September 23, 2008 at 1:25 AM

There is more than enough evidence out there to show that
Obama does not respect a gun owners rights.Obama being the
most liberal Senator and his voting record –

(If Obama really believed that the DC gun ban “went too far”, as he said last week, then why did he vote against SB2165, which didn’t even go as far as Heller in its scope? Protecting a citizen who successfully defended his home against a criminal who could have done great harm to his family seems like a reasonable, moderate position to take — especially for someone who now professes opposition to outright gun bans such as the one in Wilmette.)

Politico: Obama lied about survey
posted at 8:05 am on March 31, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

http://hotair.com/archives/2008/03/31/politico-obama-lied-about-survey/

In 1996, Obama ran as a political unknown, although one with friends in high places — friends like Tony Rezko, William Ayers, and Bernadette Dohrn. He wanted the endorsement of Independent Voters of Illinois, a group in which he and his campaign manager had worked in the past. The survey was an important part of IVI’s vetting process, and Obama needed to make sure that it had the answers he needed for the endorsement.
So what were Obama’s positions in 1996, according to the questionnaire that bears his handwriting?
Opposed to parental notification on abortions. He amended this to say that he might possibly support it for 12- or 13-year-olds, but no older.
Flatly opposed the death penalty, a position he denied ever having.
Supported bans on the sale, possession, and manufacture of guns, again a position he denied ever taking.
35. Do you support state legislation to:
a. ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Yes.
b. ban assault weapons? Yes.
c. mandatory waiting periods and background checks? Yes.

Apparently Dan Rather must have been responsible for this survey Obama now says he did not fill out with his hand writing on it.

Obama linked to gun control efforts

Barack Obama’s presidential campaign has worked to assure uneasy gun owners that he believes the Constitution protects their rights and that he doesn’t want to take away their guns.

But before he became a national political figure, he sat on the board of a Chicago-based foundation that doled out at least nine grants totaling nearly $2.7 million to groups that advocated the opposite positions.

I hope McCain hits him hard on this, because the press will
just ignore it like Ayers, lobbyist ties, money from big oil,and his connections to the Fannie/Freddie fiasco.

Terrible wording on the headline there allah. When someone “drops” an ad, you usually think they dropped it from rotation. NRA starts four more ads, maybe.

docweasel on September 23, 2008 at 7:37 AM

Guys. I think the way the flag was presented was an attempt to draw out the gun-owner haters. It didn’t work or we’d be seeing the wacky left pointing out how redneck gun owners are because they can’t even get the flag right. The photo is probably reversed for the ad.

csdeven on September 23, 2008 at 7:38 AM

docweasel on September 23, 2008 at 7:37 AM

You’re just too nice! I read it as the NRA dropped 4 new ads, like a ton of bricks, right on top of Oslime-a. But I’m always looking for an ad that skewers that POS.

csdeven on September 23, 2008 at 7:40 AM

I’m still living in the Dark Ages of Computing (coupled with a limited, fixed income) so I only have a dial-up connection. That puts all these neat videos out of my reach. However, from the still photo in the lede, the ‘hunter’ in the video obviously needs some lessons from Jean-Francois Kerre`. This fellow is obviously not on his knees, creeping, stalking, you know, playing games with his prey…

Palin was not a sure choice, not even for the stolidly Republican ladies branch of Citizens for a Tackier America. No, she isn’t even female really. She’s a type, and she comes in male form too.

It’s possible that Republican men, sexual inadequates that they are, really believe that women will vote for a woman just because she’s a woman. They’re unfamiliar with our true natures. Do they think vaginas call out to each other in the jungle night? I mean, I know men have their secret meetings at which they pledge to do manly things, like being irresponsible with their semen and postponing household repairs with glue and used matches. Guys will be guys, obviously.

Here are some more of those bitter people hanging on to their religion:

Like the Polish wise man said…”A lot of things depend upon a lot of things”. That’s a very personal choice and should not be taken lightly. Go to a reputable gun store and talk to them. Tell them honestly about your level of experience. They will take the time to help you if you are looking for personal protection, target, hunting, whatever.
Your best choice may not be a handgun. Whatever you end up buying, please seek some training and practice, practice, practice. Proficiency is worth the cost of the training, ammo and range time. There are also gun-owner forums out there and those folks LOVE to give advice. It may all seem daunting at first, but stay with it. Finally, when you make your choice, know that 80 million + fellow gun owning Americans welcome you.

I’m not a single issue voter, actually I really dislike single issue voters, but on this issue I am 100% a single issue voter. I will NEVER vote for a candidate who is anti-gun. Some (Rudy and Mitt) I can work with as they at least are ok with the states deciding the amount of “control” and oppose gun “bans”. This single issue goes so much deeper than the right to own a gun or not. It is the cornerstone of our right to self-determination and sovereignty of the people outlined by thomas jefferson in the declaration of independence.

I shot a friend’s Desert Eagle .50 cal.

Damn near dislocated my shoulder.

And I grew up shooting my dad’s Browning A5 12 gauge.
It’s got a reciprocating barrel, and kicks like a POed mule. But it was nothing like the .50.

Oh…and I’m also green with envy about your most impressive list.

And…just my two copper Lincoln’s, I’ve owned a Beretta 92F for over twenty years. The only failure to feed I’ve ever experienced was operator error. Mag not fully inserted.
Followed the drill…Tap…rack…and BANG.

Wouldn’t mind a Sig tho.

I also own a Beretta shotgun. My first. Single shot 12 Gauge, designed for trap shooting. Not ideal for self-defense, or dove hunting. But it has put a rabbit or two in my game pouch.

I have always heard great things about the Beretta handguns, except from the military.I have had several vets tell me that there were a lot of problems in the field with
their 9mms,some even having the slide action shoot to far back, disabling the gun and sometimes causing injury.

Is this isolated? The people I shoot with love their Beretta’s to death and have had no problems.

You did very well to get a Beretta shotgun, this is a top
shelf gun.
Every time I hold one,it takes a lot of self control to hand it back.

I’ve also heard the stories about some problems in the field.

And fractures in the slide after extended (thousands of rounds put thru them) use.

As I said, I can only speak from personal experience.

The shotgun is a nice piece. Unfortunately, the original owner made some modifications. (dropped the comb, and cut a slot in the forearm for a piece of lead. trying to counteract recoil. it is a lite piece that punches pretty hard)

If I were choosing a tactical shotgun today, I’d probably go with this.

I used to be a Repub (I voted for Bush twice), but now I’m thoroughly disgusted with your party. I’m pro-life and for a strong military. But the conservatives have become a big joke. You call yourself the “family values” party, yet your actions speak louder than words. Example: the people whom you vote for—Huckabeen–is an ethically-challenged snake, and the two eldest Palin gals, Sarah and Bristol, were both pregnant outside of marriage. Seems to be that family’s standard operating procedure–or should I say “fooling around procedure!?”

When McLiar was trailing Romney in the Florida primaries, he lied about Romney wanting Iraqi withdrawal timetables and McLair is continuing his lies to this day and has been warned by Rove about it and the factcheck sites are catching him lying far more than Obama! So much for the “straight talk express”, there Mr. McLiar!

The character of a candidate is of the utmost importance to me. Both McLair and EGObama are not worthy of the highest office in the land. Romney is both qualified to run this nation and is strong on family values—he’s got good sons and has been married to a wonderful wife for years. He’s done more charitable work than probably all of us combined! But your party allowed itself to be high jacked by the looney Huckabigots. BTW, I am not a Mormon—but I know good character when I see it, and McLiar, Palin and Obama haven’t got it!

And most Repubs are brain dead regarding the need for being humane towards God creatures. The Dems are better that you guys on this. But they are rabid pro-choicers.

This is why I am an Independent. The candidates suck in this election and thus neither party will be getting my vote. I will be writing in Romney’s name for Pres.

Hey caveman Adam, here’s a book to help you get in the 21st century. It was written by Sarah Palin’s speechwriter and has got great reviews:

Dominion: The Power of Man, the Suffering of Animals, and the Call to Mercy

“Scully makes an impassioned argument based on the fact that animals suffer and feel pain…. Matthew Scully is clearly an intelligent man whose big heart has found a just and noble cause. His is a powerful and sometimes even inspired writer, and his devotion to his subject is so great that he left his job at the White House to promote the message of this book.”The Weekly Standard

“Mr. Scully’s case proved to be more powerful than I expected…. a morally serious case for doing all we can to end cruelty to animals, even if that requires changing some of our eating habits…”Fred Barnes, The Wall Street Journal

“An unsettling book, one that will challenge the conflicting views most of us hold…. It shines a bright light on indecent treatment kept out of the public view…. It promises to stir many hearts and minds.”The Arizona Republic

“Winsome and inviting…. A challenging and potentially life-changing book…. Scully’s book stretches our understanding of what it means to be humane.”Father Richard John Neuhaus, National Review

“A remarkable book…. An overwhelming case that man is abusing his stewardship of the earth.”Joseph Sobran, The Sobran Newsletter

The Bulgarian does not have as much recoil so I get tighter
groups.
Besides that there is not a whole lot of meaningful difference in them.
The AR’s are much more accurate and better at long distance
(except colt-AR 7.62×39) but require more maintenance.
I like the fact that with the 7.62×39 AK you don’t have to
maneuver around cars or rooms if someone were shooting at you (God only knows why,but it could happen)you can shoot right through the car or wall with full metal jacket ammo, not exposing yourself to return fire.
