Tee hee: SNL goofs on McCain for supposedly racist ads

The perfect ending to a stretch in which The One not only ran more negative ads than McCain did, but demagogued him with a race-baiting spot aimed at Hispanics that went so far over the top even Obama mega-shill Joe Klein begged him to take it down. All of this, mind you, while his surrogates were out on the trail smearing Republicans as racists.
Exit question: Which lines specifically, do you suppose, did Al Franken contribute?
Update: The McCain camp’s circulating this editorial from a New Hampshire paper laying Obama out for his recent dishonesty. Oh, and look: Here’s another lie now.

Since I’m pretty sure no one watches SNL I’m really not worried. Also if you did happen to stop on the channel for some reason the complete lack of acting ability and humor would lead you to click over to an infomercial pretty quick…

Woo Hoo new page for me!

I think NBC and Franken need to be investigated by the FEC for possible violations of election laws. The only reason I can think of for a candidate for federal office (Franken) to write comedy sketches attacking another candidate for federal office of another party (McCain) is because you are trying to coordinate a campaign message. Any of SNL’s comedy writers would have been able to put together a sketch that picked on McCain. But, it would take a Democratic operative to know how exactly to pick on him (i.e. what issues or memes to emphasize) to inflict the most electoral damage on him and/or to assist Obama the most.
NBC uber-crossed the line here and I think there needs to be an investigation and constant attacks by Republicans against the media for this kind of bias. It is truly outrageous.

Pray this election doesn’t become a repeat of 2000. If it is, and if McCain wins, think of the Rodney King Verdict riots and then augment by one order of magnitude.

Shows that Alberman Frankel can’t even read the conservative blogs, as they have much funnier takes on the ONE, that his feeble attempts at humor and ridicule. Just quoting back the obamanation’s own statements give me chuckles for days on end. It used to be we said anyone could become the President, after Obama, we can safely say, anyone could graduate from Harvard Law.
What a country, America!

Keep telling yourself that. SNL (or Tina Fey, pretty much) single-handedly altered the character of the Democratic primary, but just a bit late for Clinton to recover.

Ha ha! He’s old, stupid and out of touch!
No, wait, I mean the skit was lame, stupid and out of touch.
And watching Manhattan liberals sneering over the Saracuda’s experience never gets old, either.
Look, the Tina Fey sketch last week, whilst also deeply flawed (the press has gone too easy on Sarah? Really?), made me laugh so hard I’ve watched it multiple times.
This one didn’t even make me crack a smile, and there’s no reason whatsoever to watch it a second time.
Epic fail.

The opening segment was just lame. The sarcastic guy was amusing, and I liked his voice, but the skit was lame. We watched wondering if Tina Fey would show up again, but had to shut it off when they started talking about Todd Palin “doing” his daughters.
My (formerly Democratic) wife and I were disgusted. Apparently nothing is out of bounds to them, unless you are talking about them.
And yeah, if McCain wins, I expect riots and lawsuits from this bunch of lefty idiots.

Sorry, but there was an element of truth, specifically that McCain, formerly a relatively distinguished campaigner, has come out with some ads that he shouldn’t have. Allah noticed this, calling him out on ads that were unfair, just as Obama has been called out for his campaign’s abuses of truth. The skit wasn’t a laugh riot, but it was better than 99% of the stuff they have on that show (as witnessed by the skits that followed). Was it offensive? Sure, but that’s what the kiddies want. Considering that South Park and Team America are the most quoted contemporary works in the comments, I doubt we’d mind if the shoe were on the other foot. (Then again, it would be nice if it were on both feet with equal regularity.) Most of those who have their mind changed by a Saturday Night Live skit probably won’t remember to vote anyway.
Also, Al Franken should be allowed to pursue his career. And Norm Coleman should be allowed to point out to voters that maybe such a career is not the best preparation for the Senate.

Gee… I’d forgotten how un-funny SNL has become.
They are socially relevant only in the media’s eyes.

I just wanted to agree with the guy who said Kirsten Wiig is great. Her and Hader are the best hires they’ve made in years.
Jim Treacher on September 21, 2008 at 3:58 PM
Or she and Hader, I suppose.
Jim Treacher on September 21, 2008 at 3:58 PM
I luved it…!
J_Gocht on September 21, 2008 at 4:52 PM
No surprise there.
ManlyRash on September 21, 2008 at 4:54 PM
How’s that go for you Manly …
“I gets my laughs and humor when and where I can”…!
When it comes to sex…
I, ain’t had any in eighteen months and I’m really, really lookin’ for a “mercy jump” …!
Anybody…?
Really anybody…!
Mercy jump…!
J_Gocht on September 21, 2008 at 5:17 PM
If you have any mercy you will do it quickly…off the nearest cliff.
ManlyRash on September 21, 2008 at 5:40 PM
I laughed at one line: Obama wants healthcare for the entire universe! heh.
aengus on September 21, 2008 at 5:51 PM
I take it you missed that great chic flick…
[That doesn’t surprise me...]
Jersey girl…with Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck:
Your only problem now Manly; is finding a girl that relates to you like Liv… had it for Ben…!
With a name like Manly that could deffinately be a problem…!
Please anyone a …mercy jump for Manly…!
J_Gocht on September 21, 2008 at 6:00 PM
Didn’t. Laugh. Once.
Pity, that.
Captain Scarlet on September 21, 2008 at 6:16 PM
I agree the FEC should tally up how much this “in-kind” contribution to Democratic campaigns was worth, and fine Franken and NBC for any violations. Franken just doesn’t know how to follow rules.
HotWeaver on September 21, 2008 at 6:49 PM
This skit is lame. It is not even original. Put a wig on the guy playing McCain and you have one of those tiresome Reagan bits from the 1980’s.
They were lame then and haven’t improved with age.
schmuck281 on September 21, 2008 at 7:59 PM
Technology,ha ha ha,wait till the geo-stationery
Death Ray is operational, see who laughs then!
(btw,i’m joking)!
This wasn’t funny period,so over the top,and
its like a never ending loop, actually un-
comfortable!!
Since it sucked,I’d say Franken,aka Stuart,is responsable
for this sh#tty sketch!!
Always remember,as rush would tell you,in order to be
funny,it should have a kernal of truth to it!!!
canopfor on September 21, 2008 at 9:17 PM
Ooops,that Rush Limbaugh,not rush,sorry!

One of these things is not like the other:
1. SNL
2. paint drying
3. grass getting greener
4. sky diving
Bubba Redneck on September 21, 2008 at 11:10 PM
A-yup! Obama said McCain’s campaign has been racist (a lie). McCain said Obama supported teaching comprehensive sex education to kindergarteners (a lie). I say calling either one out for dishonest campaigning is fair game at this point.
