Palin rips Democrats over Iran rally, vows to prevent Iranian nukes

posted at 4:54 pm on September 19, 2008 by Allahpundit

And by “Democrats” she of course does not mean Hillary, even though she’s the most disgraceful player in all of this — and don’t think people haven’t noticed. Thanks to those 18 million voters, Her Majesty can do no wrong.

“This should be an issue that unites all Americans. Iran should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, period,” Palin said at a rally here. “Unfortunately, some Democrat partisans put politics first and now no elected official can appear. This should not be a matter of partisan politics.”…

An Obama campaign spokesman batted away the suggestion, saying they had planned to send a representative to attend the rally…

“John McCain and I are committed to drawing attention to the dangers posed by Iran’s nuclear program,” she said, “and we will not waver in our commitment. I will continue to call for sustained action to prevent Iranian president Ahmadinejad from getting these weapons to launch a second Holocaust.”

If you missed yesterday’s post, the “representative” Obama’s jackass campaign was planning to send was a guy who was in the headlines most recently for calling Palin a closet Nazi. That’s what they had in mind as a show of bipartisan comity in presenting Iran with a united front, which is par for the course with his creepy leftist supporters. Quote:

Some Jewish activists are blaming Hillary Clinton for [the rally's] collapse; in the interview, Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations chief Malcolm Hoenlein blamed board members of some of the organizations involved, and a “vile” campaign by the National Jewish Democratic Council.

“Pressure really grows from the grassroots and from people on their boards. People feel very strongly these days. Irrationally strongly. I can’t even describe to you the kind of reactions and threats that they came under – and intimidation,” Hoenlein said. “It’s rampant. I have never seen an election that has evoked such deep division and response and emotion on the part of people – Jews and non-Jews.”

Here’s the NJDC’s Orwellian statement concluding that Palin’s invitation made the event “partisan” even though Hillary Clinton’s apparently didn’t. Exit question: When exactly did Palin’s commitment to stopping Iran from getting nukes begin? Are there any speeches in her past objecting to it? Writings? Conversational anecdotes? I want to believe.

Palin is so ignorant in foreign policy! Doesn’t she know that we are supposed to talk with and tongue bathe Mahmoud. As a lifetime Republican and conservative Christian, I’m distressed at her belligerent tone.

Seriously, though, both parties say Iran + nukes = bad. Can’t we show up at the same place on a topic we agree on? Oh, wait, I forgot. Michelle didn’t show up for 9/11 memorial either.

I’m guessing about the time she started running for an office that would put her in a position where she might actually be able do something about it.

I don’t give a shit about techno-geek knowledge of issues. So she’s not Kissinger.

She has guts and courage which is what you need to stand up against the bullies of the world.

Funny story: My ex-niece-in-law (I think that’s what I’d call her) once encountered her older brother being bullied by a bigger boy at the schoolyard by taking his bookbag and not giving it back. She tells him to give it back to her brother, and when he doesn’t she punches him in the nose breaking it. At the hospital, the father of the bully tells my sister in law and husband that he is gonna sue them for their son hitting his son. When they tell him that it wasn’t their son but their girl, the father shut up and forgot that lawsuit.

Can you imagine the bully boy having to live with that the rest of his life? Getting dropped by a girl two years younger than him.

“That’s Sarah Palin!”

I can’t wait til the VP debates.

YellowDawg on September 19, 2008 at 5:05 PM

As a Jew, I am particularly offended at Hillary’s two-faces stance on Israel. When confronted, or when politically advantageous, she claims to be pro-Israel, or words that could indicate thus. But she was more than happy to embrace and even kiss Soha Arafat, then-PLO leader/terrorist Yassir Arafat’s wife. The Democrat party as a whole is using tactics, such as scapegoating, that are harbingers of early Nazi party tactics.

After WWI, Germany was dirt poor, with a relatively healthy Jewish population. Hitler’s brilliant idea was to demonize Jews to the max, and confiscate their property to repair their economy and fund their war machine, which would use the same model of confiscation to fund their growth, very much like a cancer.

Today, the Dems are focusing on the rich, to tax them out of existence. Pol Pot focused on intellectuals or anyone wearing glasses or having attended schools. The patter goes on. Ask Barak, “who is next when rich Republicans are taxed into the poorhouse, Jews?

Seriously, though, any Bible believing Christian recognizes it is clearly spelled out that any nation which blesses Israel is blessed itself. Many of us happen to think our prosperity and security is directly tied to this.

So, for Sarah, it is second nature.

Godzilla on September 19, 2008 at 5:08 PM

The NJDC statement is laughable:

Monday’s protest against Ahmadinejad is too important to be tainted by partisanship. Unfortunately, the campaign of Senator John McCain is much more interested in scoring political points than insuring there is bipartisan solidarity around the anti- Ahmadinejad efforts.

It may be a legitimate argument to suggest that either both or neither party should be represented, but saying that the McCain campaign is responsible for making it partisan is mind-numbingly stupid and dishonest. Had Palin refused the initial invitation they’d be all over her for it.

Jim M. on September 19, 2008 at 5:16 PM

In this election cycle, all ‘politically correct’ bulls**it needs to be cast aside. If there is any blame to assign in this farce, then it should fall squarely upon the Jewish community which ostensibly arranged this demonstration.

The Jewish community should at least have the wherewithal to find the collective balls to say: “This is our event, and we more than welcome anybody and everybody who is willing to attend, so he/she can give voice to his/her condemnation of Iran.” But no, they bow to these clowns who are intent upon politicizing everything.

It never ceases to amaze me. For 60 years (i.e. since the very foundation of Israel) Republicans have shown themselves prepared to go ‘the last mile’ in support of Jews and the State of Israel, yet Jews insist on voting for Democrats who display nothing but contempt for them.

Sure does make for an interesting psychological analysis, if nothing else.

A truly “non-partisan” Jewish group who speak English, not Orwellian doublespeak, JINSA, condemns the actions of those who disinvited Palin.

WASHINGTON, Sep 19, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Tom Neumann, Executive Director of the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), today sent a letter to Malcolm Hoenlein, Executive Vice Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, strongly opposing the decision by the Conference of Presidents to disinvite Gov. Palin to speak at a rally scheduled for Monday, September 22 to protest the appearance of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the United Nations, and questioning why member organizations had not been consulted before this drastic action was taken.
Earlier this week, Sen. Clinton learned that Gov. Palin was also invited to speak at the rally and chose to withdraw her participation, essentially trivializing would have been a united, bipartisan demonstration of opposition to the Iranian government. Yesterday, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, under pressure from the Obama campaign, withdrew its invitation to Gov. Palin.

I’ll freely admit that I’m not a political genius, and there may be some pitfalls I’m not seeing…

But, I think that if she were to show up — not going on stage, not making a speech — just showing up and expressing support for the protest in a low-key way AND brings along her new friend Senator Joe Lieberman…

I think it could be a very classy demonstration of what bipartisanship looks like. And quite a strong contrast to the Obama campaign’s partisanship.

Where’s Mr. Uniter Obama in all this? I thought he could get people of all different stripes and hues working together. So far, he has demonstrated that particular talent exactly zero times. What a phony, a fraud and an embarrassment not only to the Demoncrats, but to America.

The point about Gov. Palin is not that she is someone who thinks she knows it all (nobody ever accused Kissinger of humility but even he can’t claim to know all), but precisely the converse: she is someone who does not presume that she knows it all, but is capable of exercising honest leadership skills to get important work done. At least she has demonstrated that so far in her political career, which is much, much more than can be said for Obama, who would have us believe he is all-knowing and all-seeing (and thus never, ever wrong), while never actually having taken a political risk, and by corollary, never really gotten anything important done.

mr.blacksheep on September 19, 2008 at 5:57 PM

Let’s compare VPs

Joe Biden on the current Commander in Chief daring to stop Iran:

“…I can‘t imagine them getting—daring to think they could invade any other country in the world that has bad guys in it, because they wouldn‘t have a consensus. They don‘t have the troops. They don‘t have the capacity.”

How does Biden think we ought to respond to all of this? By addressing Iran’s “emotional needs.”

Senator Joseph Biden said that even if Iran was a full democracy like India, it would want nuclear capability, like India. What the world needed to address was Iran’s emotional needs, he said, with a nonaggression pact.

econavenger on September 19, 2008 at 5:58 PM

Palin did NOT mention Iranian nukes at the convention.

She did say something about it during her intro by McCain on 8/29 here

This is a moment – this is a moment when great causes can be won and great threats overcome, depending on the judgment of our next president. In a dangerous world, it is John McCain who will lead America’s friends and allies in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

We have got to make sure that these weapons of mass destruction, that nuclear weapons are not given to those hands of [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad, not that he would use them, but that he would allow terrorists to be able to use them,

Are there any speeches in her past objecting to it? Writings? Conversational anecdotes? I want to believe.

“We should not question the action Israel takes to ensure it’s safety.” Or something to that effect.

I was really looking forward to being there. I went the last 2 years and both times I was more than happy to stand as Americans with anyone to protest the Iranian Hitler. This is a shame.

I blame Obama.

The Disasta from Alaska wants to deny Iran nuclear weapons?

Yawn.

So does everyone else.

Next.

Let’s see, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac pay Obama and Dem’s big money and they let them go their merry way.
Obama manages to remove all politicians from ant-Iran nuclear rally, gutting any real high-profile media coverage.
How much did Obama’s campaign receive from Iran to accomplish this amazing feat?

The McCain/Palin campaign should, NOW STEVE, do a commercial about this and play up the national security aspect . It will speak volumes to the women who now know that they have been tasked with saving this Republic.

jerrytbg on September 19, 2008 at 8:00 PM

Like everyone else after 9/11, Sarah Palin was told to ignore Islam, go to the mall and live like always or “the terrorists win”. It as a strategy has been largely a stunning success. Into the eighth year and most people still do not know who the enemy is or what they want or how to defeat them. Unless Palin took a personal interest, there is no reason that she would know anything about Mohammedans at all. So she will be supplied with a Muslim interpreter of Islam. Then she will learn (be flimflammed) about peace and tolerance from the source.

Happy ramadan ya’ll!

Ms. Pritsker owns the hotel where the event is being held, I don’t think that makes her the host. I am not sure but unless she is really involved in the day to day activities she probably isn’t even aware. Not that she cares. Rush went to great lengths to clear this up on his show today but maybe there has been more info since then.

Biden was asked, but he declined.

prevent Iranian president Ahmadinejad from getting these weapons to launch a second Holocaust.

JEEEEEEEE_SUUUUS this lady sounds shrill.

I wonder if Condi Rice or even Don Rumsfeld would have gone that far in giving an official statement…

Actually, what I would like to see is if someone can get close to Barry with a couple of cute little puppies. Offer to let him pet them….either there’s a lovely picture of him touching dogs, or he has an allergy to canines…

Think of the possibilties.

Exit question: When exactly did Palin’s commitment to stopping Iran from getting nukes begin? Are there any speeches in her past objecting to it? Writings? Conversational anecdotes? I want to believe.

Making past speeches a requirement for her to prove she’s against it is a flawed argument called MOVING THE GOALPOSTS.

Not so Dave-o. Biden specifically told the Israelis to accept that Iran would have nukes.

Dhimmicrats simply do not care about the issue. The won’t care until American cities lie smoldering beneath their feet. Even then they’ll blame America first and not mention that *whispers* muslims did it.
