Barack Obama has decided to respond to Gianna Jessen’s powerful ad on his opposition to a bill that would have protected the lives of infants born from botched abortions. In essence, he accuses John McCain of lying, when the record speaks so clearly that Obama’s campaign had to admit they lied about his position on the Illinios version of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act. This has produced a hysterical reaction from Team O that pretty much has become a One-Note Charlie when responding to any criticism:

fixed slightly, and its not just this issue however this is the one easiest to explain because of the humanity of it is clearly seen.
Nobody’s yet mentioned the fact that Obama’s ad attempts to tie Gianna Jensen’s ad to the McCain campaign. It’s not a McCain ad; it was produced by BornAliveTruth.org, a 527 organization.
Also, take note of what Jill Stanek says at about 3:50 into this YouTube clip. As chairman of the Health and Human Services committee in the Illinois state legislature, Obama blocked wording identical to the federal Born Alive Protection Act from being introduced into the Illinoise bill. When Obama says he would have voted for it had it been worded identically to the federal bill, he’s playing a Clintonian word game; he did his best to block the measure.
In fact, you should watch at least from 2:50 to 4:15 of that video to hear about Obama’s role in blocking the legislation.

That’s an absence of morals, not the existence of bad ones.

At 49%, support for Obama is near his record high for the year

Presidential preferences continue to shift toward Barack Obama in the midst of an unsettling Wall Street crisis that is shining a different spotlight on the presidential candidates. Voters now prefer Obama over John McCain by 49% to 44%.
George Tiller swears he’s never aborted a “viable” fetus but at the same time says he will abort right up to 40 weeks and beyond. It’s because as long as he gets his hand on them the only person the law gives the right to call them “viable” – the one doing the killing – will never call them viable.
However, Tiller did perform at least one abortion where the woman went into labor outside of his office. Rather than going back to his office to kill the child, the mother went to the hospital and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl who was blind as a result of the abortion. She was adopted out to a loving home until she died several years later from complications of the abortion.
There was an exchange between Rick Santorum and Senators Feinstein and Lautenberg over what happens when aborted babies are born alive. SAntorum asked whether those children would be “persons”. Both democrats replied that it would be up to the woman and her doctor to decide whether the child was a “person”.
One would expect that in a hospital a viable child would be saved, but my understanding is that the mother is still considered the child’s legal guardian since abortion is not classified as child abuse. She would retain the right to refuse medcal care for her child at any age.

barry norris on September 19, 2008 at 1:04 PM
The argument of “Right to Choose” is false and misleading. McCain and Palin’s pivot is not whether you have a right to choose to murder or not, the pivot is championing a fetus’s right to life most importantly, not to be murdered by abortion.
In your words: “I can’t believe I had to spell this out.”

I figured it’d be worse, guess McCain’s drop finally leveled off.
McCain owes this to playing defense all week. Today that changed, which is nice. But still. Enough vacations, Mac.
How does it square that McCain keeps losing points in Gallup, but we hear stories that he’s gaining the jewish vote, the catholic vote, and now a major hispanic donator has gone to McCain. Some of these square pegs aren’t fitting into round holes.
Man I can’t wait for the debates. All the lying-ass ads that they put out won’t mean a thing when Big John drops the debate hammer on Obama. It’s one thing to put out a recording but quite another when the camera is in your face and the public can see those lying eyes.
What’s great about this Obama ad is that he’s whining about abortion, while Mac is putting out 3 ads on the economy. Obama is behind the loop a little here. And it wasn’t even worth responding too, either. Which is odd. He has a very thin skin.
and McCain is doing well in battleground polls, which also not squaring with Gallup. Does with Rasmussen though.
don’t feed the trolls by arguing abortion guys, what Obama supports here, politically anyway, is far worse and not only that there is a Survivor in the ad he’s LYING about that just kills him
All of this gutter politics by Obama is the direct result of the Soros-sponsored Kos kids demanding that Obama start getting tougher against McCain in his ads—claiming “we’ll sort out the truth after we win the election”. As I said months ago, the fact-checkers will need fact-checkers working overtime. This is a sure sign of desperation, but don’t expect the MSM to do anything short of contributing to the fabrications. And we aren’t even into the “October Suprise” season yet. Keep your powder dry folks.
So now he’s picking on a woman who survived a botched abortion. What’s out of context here? He’s all over YouTube as promising to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, which would endanger some babies born alive. What a lying rat bastard horse’s ass!
I hope Gianna strikes back at this loser. Sooner rather than later.
If you use the pause button just right, & you squint, you can barely see that the large-print “LIE” accusations come from lying liars Dionne & Klein (the latter of Primary Lying Colors fame).
The ad says Obama has always supported medical care to protect infants and then in the next breath complains that McCain wants to ban abortion. How does that square?
Why isn’t there a libel lawsuit against Obama? It is absolutely documented that the NRLC was accurate. For Obama to accuse them of lying when he HAD to have known they were telling the truth is libel, plain and simple.
Same thing with Murtha and the Haditha Marines.
Free political speech is not license to libel. Being a Senator or Congressman should mean a HIGHER standard of honesty, not a blank check to lie about anything and everything.
Klein:
“I didn’t write the book!”
“I didn’t write the book!”
“I didn’t write the book!”
“I didn’t write the book!”
“I didn’t write the book!” He wrote the book.
The ad says Obama has always supported medical care to protect infants and then in the next breath complains that McCain wants to ban abortion. How does that square?
CP on September 19, 2008 at 1:22 PM
Out of sight, out of mind. As long as the child is tucked away in a womb, they think that killing it isjusta matter of the mother’s choice.
A subsequent investigation showed that as many as 20% of all late-term abortions resulted in live births — and that abortionists routinely allowed the infants to die by denying them normal medical attention.
I tried finding the ChicTrib link on this, but came up empty.
Does anybody know the format of the debates? Are any of them town hall style? Will this question be asked of the One? If not, what can we do to make sure it is asked?
Update: Of course, I missed one important point: the Jessen ad wasn’t put out by McCain at all. Obama’s swinging at the wrong critic here. Why doesn’t Obama call Jessen a liar?
This is the Obama Campaign “throwing mud” with the hope that it will stick to McCain and thus get votes for Obama.
Update: Of course, I missed one important point: the Jessen ad wasn’t put out by McCain at all. Obama’s swinging at the wrong critic here. Why doesn’t Obama call Jessen a liar?
I was yelling that the second I read the second sentence.
This needs to be NAILED and NAILED HARD by Gianna. I’m gonna go donate to her group so she’s got the bucks to do exactly that.
I guess the best way to make everyone else believe that you’re not a liar is to claim that everyone else is a liar. The “I’m rubber and you’re glue” tactic. Great quality to have in a president.
The record here is very, very clear. Obama initially said that he opposed the bill in Illinois because it didn’t have the “neutrality clause” included in the federal version of the legislation. As documentation proved, Obama voted against it even with the neutrality clause added. The Obama campaign finally acknowledged that Obama had lied about his position a month ago. Why? Because it would have actually forced doctors to provide care for live infants from abortions — or in other words, it would have worked.
I asked about this over on your boss’ post regarding this. Now, it has been confirmed. Thx.
The innuendo and veiled nuance he uses on almost a daily basis is litterly shocking.
J_Gocht
Gee, cutting and pasting and taking quotes out of context like this is fun. No wonder the Liberals do it so much. If you haven’t guessed the quote had nothing to do with Obama but it sure looks good, doesn’t it?
There was an exchange between Rick Santorum and Senators Feinstein and Lautenberg over what happens when aborted babies are born alive. SAntorum asked whether those children would be “persons”. Both democrats replied that it would be up to the woman and her doctor to decide whether the child was a “person”.
IIRC, that was the same line the Democrats used about blacks when they defended slavery. Remember, a “person” is what they say it is.
“Out of context”? What the hell? In what context would allowing infants to die be acceptable? Reminds me of the heyday of the Wright scandal: “Oh, they’re taking clips of him saying ‘G–d— America’ out of context.”

Some of these square pegs aren’t fitting into round holes.
lorien1973 on September 19, 2008 at 1:13 PM
Man I can’t wait for the debates. All the lying-ass ads that they put out won’t mean a thing when Big John drops the debate hammer on Obama. It’s one thing to put out a recording but quite another when the camera is in your face and the public can see those lying eyes.
Bring it on!
Guardian on September 19, 2008 at 1:14 PM
What’s great about this Obama ad is that he’s whining about abortion, while Mac is putting out 3 ads on the economy. Obama is behind the loop a little here. And it wasn’t even worth responding too, either. Which is odd. He has a very thin skin.
lorien1973 on September 19, 2008 at 1:16 PM
Looks like we’ve entered the “screaming match” stage of the campaigns already. Time to turn on the shopping channels and zone out.

and McCain is doing well in battleground polls, which also not squaring with Gallup. Does with Rasmussen though.
don’t feed the trolls by arguing abortion guys, what Obama supports here, politically anyway, is far worse and not only that there is a Survivor in the ad he’s LYING about that just kills him

Day 7: Obama Lied About Abortion Record
Some back story about Obama lied about his abortion record..
And how Obama has lies and falsely accuses other people for his ignorant actions.
Obama falsely accused the National Right to Life Committee(AND others) for being LIARS!
Chakra Hammer on September 19, 2008 at 1:18 PM
All of this gutter politics by Obama is the direct result of the Soros-sponsored Kos kids demanding that Obama start getting tougher against McCain in his ads—claiming “we’ll sort out the truth after we win the election”. As I said months ago, the fact-checkers will need fact-checkers working overtime. This is a sure sign of desperation, but don’t expect the MSM to do anything short of contributing to the fabrications. And we aren’t even into the “October Suprise” season yet. Keep your powder dry folks.
Rovin on September 19, 2008 at 1:18 PM
So now he’s picking on a woman who survived a botched abortion. What’s out of context here? He’s all over YouTube as promising to sign the Freedom of Choice Act, which would endanger some babies born alive. What a lying

If you use the pause button just right, & you squint, you can barely see that the large-print “LIE” accusations come from lying liars Dionne & Klein (the latter of Primary Lying Colors fame).
jgapinoy on September 19, 2008 at 1:22 PM
The ad says Obama has always supported medical care to protect infants and then in the next breath complains that McCain wants to ban abortion. How does that square?

Why isn’t there a libel lawsuit against Obama? It is absolutely documented that the NRLC was accurate. For Obama to accuse them of lying when he HAD to have known they were telling the truth is libel, plain and simple.
Same thing with Murtha and the Haditha Marines.
Free political speech is not license to libel. Being a Senator or Congressman should mean a HIGHER standard of honesty, not a blank check to lie about anything and everything.

After all Obama IS the MOST EXTREME RADICAL SENATOR OF of 100
He is the #1 MOST Liberal Senator out of 100!
He’s more Radical than an admitted Socialist in the Senate!

Does anybody know the format of the debates? Are any of them town hall style? Will this question be asked of the One? If not, what can we do to make sure it is asked?

This is the Obama Campaign “throwing mud” with the hope that it will stick to McCain and thus get votes for Obama.

I guess the best way to make everyone else believe that you’re not a liar is to claim that everyone else is a liar. The “I’m rubber and you’re glue” tactic. Great quality to have in a president.

The lunatic left thinks abortion such a hot, popular issue, then own up to it, lefties.
Murdering children will save the planet. Murdering the elderly will save the planet. Murdering those who oppose lefties, will save the planet.
You know you all think it.
Tell the damn truth for once in your lives.

Thanks for the concise rundown, Ed.
And thanks for pointing out that it wasn’t even McCain’s ad. Jessen would tear Obama a new one in an abortion debate.
Oh how I’d love to see that debate.

Gee, cutting and pasting and taking quotes out of context like this is fun. No wonder the Liberals do it so much. If you haven’t guessed the quote had nothing to do with Obama but it sure looks good, doesn’t it?
TooTall on September 19, 2008 at 1:33 PM
Let Gianna Jessen re-run her ad with the verbal disclaimer: “I am in no way associated with campaign of any candidate”.
That way, Obama will be left accusing an abortion survivor, and not McCain, of lying.
Steve Z on September 19, 2008 at 1:35 PM
IIRC, that was the same line the Democrats used about blacks when they defended slavery. Remember, a “person” is what they say it is.

“Out of context”? What the hell? In what context would allowing infants to die be acceptable? Reminds me of the heyday of the Wright scandal: “Oh, they’re taking clips of him saying ‘G–d— America’ out of context.”
