New McCain ad: Meet the guy Obama wants to chat with; Update: English version added
posted at 2:37 pm on September 19, 2008 by Allahpundit
I’ll leave you to guess which swing state with a Castro-hating, Spanish-speaking population this’ll be airing in. The English transcript:
ANNCR: Did you see who Obama wants to talk with?
CHAVEZ: Go to h*ll, you filthy Yankees!
ANNCR: Barack Obama says that he would meet Chavez without conditions.
CHAVEZ: Filthy Yankees, go to h*ll hundred times!
ANNCR: He said he would meet in his first year in office.
CHAVEZ: The United States which is behind every conspiracy against our country.
ANNCR: He said it was a disgrace that we haven’t spoken with them.
CHAVEZ: If any aggression were to come against Venezuela, then there will be no oil for people or the government of the Unites States!
ANNCR: Do you believe we should talk with Chavez?
CHAVEZ: We, you filthy Yankees, know that we are resolute to be free, no matter what happens, and at any cost!
ANNCR: In November, you decide.
The One reiterated his willingness to meet with Chavez as recently as May, just a day before he turned around and called for the isolation of regimes that support FARC — like, um, Hugo Chavez’s. A gaffe like that would destroy McCain or Palin, but in Obama’s case it’s merely further evidence of how supple and nuanced his intellect is. If Maverick’s rolling this out now in Florida for Cuban-American consumption, it can’t be long before we get an English-language ad along the same lines about Barry’s willingness to meet with Iran, possibly timed for early next to coincide with Ahmadinejad’s appearance at the UN. The sooner the better, as anything that moves the debate from the economy to foreign policy can only help McCain. When it does come, expect another round of whining from Obama shills like Joe Klein about how the Messiah never said he’d meet with Ahmadinejad specifically, since, after all, he’s not the one who holds real power in Iran. True enough. Here’s the latest from the guy who holds real power. See if that makes you feel better.
Update: Ah, here’s the English version.

Would have been more effective if they used clips of Obama instead of the announcer’s words, but still a good ad.

Tres bon! err..Sehr gut! err. I mean…!muy bueno!
Umm…”nickj116″…Zerobama’s quotes were in English…the ad is in Spanish for a Spanish-speaking target audience. Dubbed or subtitled clips don’t quite make the grade for such ads.
Lockstein13 on September 19, 2008 at 2:45 PM
I like it. Should be a plus in Florida.

I wasn’t saying it should be in English. Somebody was complaining that it wasn’t, so I posted the ad so he could understand what Chavez was saying.

People don’t make these ads.
Mac simply reprogrammed Cheney’s weather machine to spit-out commercials rather than hurricanes. It’s quite a remarkable device when you think about it.
Bishop on September 19, 2008 at 2:50 PM
It didn’t, though. Oil was going up before that happened.

Wonderful! Los Cubanos are on our side, do or die, as far as I can tell, thanks to Ronaldus Maximus. Hopefully it’s a domino effect.
If only there were some women who could overact and shout-whipser, “Mentira!” in disbelief to each other, on camera, as if to say, “My God!”
emailnuevo on September 19, 2008 at 2:51 PM
I think watching Chavez rant is more telling than what he actually says. Sort of like watching Hitler. The body language is everything.

to lie through one’s teeth: mentir como un bellaco
in the teeth of opposition: haciendo frente a la oposición
armed to the teeth: armado hasta los dientes
to fight tooth and nail: luchar con uñas y dientes
to get one’s teeth into something: hincar el diente a algo
I’m fed up to the teeth with him: estoy hasta la coronilla de él
Obama: Picking up his dientes off the floor, after this ad!

Yeah and I hope they keep it up… unless McCain falls in the polls some more then STOP! But Obama put so much out last week that was not even answerable.
I hope the abortion ad gets picked up on News shows so she can call Obama a liar and have more people see her. She makes a good impression on TV.

This ad has been paid for by the Boston Red Socks.
Damiano on September 19, 2008 at 2:55 PM
Allah,
When you highlight a new McCain ad, do you mean to say that it has run on TV or just on Youtube?
Not that it makes any difference anymore. But it might be interesting to have that perspective and see how many ads are run by the MSM unpaid, for commentary purposes.

I think it’s great that the mentally handicapped can lead successful lives, but usually they need treatment to do so. Here we have an untreated Chavez who actually runs a country! Of course, he’s doing it as one would expect of an unmedicated mental patient, but hey, give him his creds!

Have the McCain people run an ad in Florida yet with Fidel Castro’s comments about Obama being the superior candidate? Or how about Obama getting the official endorsement of the Communist Party USA?
Can’t imagine those things would go over too well with the Cuban community in Fla.

aso on September 19, 2008 at 4:23 PM
You talking about the ad linked to this thread? If so, I just don’t share your analysis. It’s okay but, IMO, too specific to be effective. Yes, Chavez holds more importance to the demographic clearly targeted than the leaders of Iran, North Korea, and a bunch of other terrorist or despotic states. McCain’s ad should have expressed the bigger threat instead of focusing in on Chavez because the real point is Obama’s lack of experience not US relations with Venezuela.
