It’s on: McCain camp hints they’re ready to hit Obama on Wright

Via the Standard, I’m simply weak at the thought of the magnificent theatrical sorrow to which we’ll be treated when the blogosphere’s shrillest Obama mega-shills find out. If Joe Klein and Sullivan don’t already have pieces prepared for the occasion, consider their weekend schedules cleared.

Remember, The One himself calls this a “legitimate issue.”

Don’t be shocked if you see the McCain campaign pull the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright out of mothballs in new attacks against one-time parishioner, Barack Obama.

McCain advisers say that they see “attack by association” as fair game now, arguing that Obama’s campaign has been using that technique to go after McCain. In particular, the Obama campaign has hammered McCain on the stump and in TV ads on the number of one-time lobbyists working for his campaign. (The McCain campaign is also angry about a Spanish-language TV ad that ties McCain to Rush Limbaugh on immigration, without ever saying that McCain took on Limbaugh and others to fight for comprehensive immigration reform.)

“They played it one way, we played it another way,” said one of McCain’s top advisers, Mark Salter. “Now we’re both going to play it the same way.”

Salter said to expect more of the same, saying the campaign was tired of “catching the spears.” Asked whether to expect attacks involved Wright, campaign spokesman Michael Goldfarb said: “We’ve seen all throughout the (Democratic) primary this guy has a lot of associations that are very problematic.”

By “catching the spears” I take it he means Team Barry’s proliferating negative ads, bad-faith accusations of racism, mass mobilization efforts to shout down or otherwise “get in the faces” of people who utter the slightest criticism, and thinly veiled ridicule of McCain’s VP as a moron to whom people are drawn because she’s “cute.” But maybe I’m wrong. Exit question: How does six weeks of guilt-by-association one-upsmanship sound? Wright, then Hagee, then Ayers, then Palin’s church, then …?

So many active associations. How about Obama’s Kenyan cousin, Raila Odinga who Obama campaigned for in 2006 at taxpayer expense.

Odinga had a secret Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Muslim Leaders Forum (NAMLEF) to bring about “a radical transformation of Kenya…through a genuinely devolved government.” Hey, you could do that with Sharia Law!
And how about an MOU with a Christian group? Sorry, nothing, just for muslims. Controversy remains as to whether that MOU, originally denied and then disclosed 3 months later is the only MOU of if this one was the first MOU which called for Sharia Law, something NAMLEF has long advocate. Oh, and Odinga’s Website? His theme was the same as Obama’s today, Change.

Here Odinga calls himself the Agent for Change“. You can also “Vote for Change” and “Register for Change” same words Obama uses today. “Just Words”

I must be living in a cave. I’ve never heard of Larry Sinclair or Pastor Manning.

Sinclair(I don’t believe but it’s funny)

Manning(is an odd Hillary supporter, the guy is pretty “freaky” to stay the least for a pastor, he kind of reminds me of one of my childhood neighborhood friends, he was a “comedian type”(that is now a Union plumber) my friend is a real funny person “good personality, good guy” he’s NOT anywhere Near as abrasive as Manning but something about Manning reminds me of him, BTW the friend i’m talking about Isn’t black he’s Polish)

Remember,Obama, and the in the tank biased Lefty MSM,went
after Sarah’s daughter, and went after Trig, and all those
American’s who have daughters in the same predicament, and
all those Americans who have ‘Trigs’!

It is the Liberal Democratic Party, who have set the
“Political Rules of Engagement”,they are the ones lying,
and have gone on to ‘personal attack’!

Therefore, since, the left have gone on to declare war on SarahCuda, and are on a Search and Destroy mission, and are
now imploying the “RACE CARD AS A LAST RESORT”!

It is impairative for the RNC,not to turn the other cheek,
but to deploy all,and every option, too take it to Hopey/
GaffBiden inlike kind,and inlike intensity!!:)

This is awesome on many levels:

*While the attacks on McCain and Palin have been personal, false and unhinged, these ads will be true. Obama’s got so many skeletons in his closet, all they have to do is point out stuff the MSM hasn’t covered in 2 years.

*If Team Barry wants to get into the “one-upmanship” game, it’ll be like going moose hunting with a water pistol. They’ve already hit Sarah with everything they’ve got, so now they’ll be left to smear a war hero who the voters know very well.

Mr. Wednesday Night on September 20, 2008 at 3:20 AM

Imagine, Dale Jr., down a lap and there are five laps to go, cut to commercial (like in the movie USED CARS) Obama is talking about Hope and Change, Palin is not endorsed by NOW , McCain wants to wage war etc, etc.”I’m Barack Obama and I support this message”. Then after the commercial they are interviewing Dale Jr. for the win, and eveyone watching missed the last five laps.

joeswampy on September 20, 2008 at 3:49 AM

In my experience talking to friends and family this summer, the average uninvolved voter does NOT know of Rev. Wright, never heard of him, and has no idea about Obama’s church of 20 years. The Wright story played on Fox for a week or so, Obama made a speech which the MSM dubbed ‘The Speech On Race Relations in America” and called it “Lincolnesque”. The upshot was, the non-attentive American audience heard that Obama was a brilliant orator in the mold of Abraham Lincoln. Obama is a racist hate-monger, in the mold of the left end of the Democrat party, and that must be brought to the attention of the American people. As was clear from the O’Reilly interview, after three months of cover, Obama still does not have an answer to the question, why was this Anti-American bigot your pastor for 20 years?

If Palin starts hammering Oslime-a on Wright etc., the MSM will probably report it because she is a big story herself.

How about Palin’s evangelical church where people sometimes speak in tongues? It’s headed by a pastor who likes to speak of his experience ‘witch hunting’ in Africa to rid a community of evil. Real winners. This kind of tactic will cut both ways.

bayam on September 20, 2008 at 5:26 AM

McCain hesitated to go with anything that smacked of race and religion, but Obama couldn’t resist.

The media/Obama (is there a difference?) crossed the line by declaring the Raines ad racist (the typical defense of black scoundrels), the Washington Post denied their own reporting on Raines, and the gloves are off.

Axelrod made a big mistake by trashing Palin. He gave McCain the opening and the will to take out Obama’s trash.

Let the games begin.

That’s her former church, which she reputedly for a church that was more low key. Obama did not leave Wright’s church until it became too inconvenient to defend. This too will backfire if Team O tries this tack.

Jezla on September 20, 2008 at 6:25 AM

So what’s this on Drudge about Obama in Florida attacking McCain’s policy on women?

I can only jump to conclusions, and admit as much up front. But Barack appears to share Rangle’s disability. They’ll never learn that a bastard can’t erase his own misogyny by attributing their own guilt to the opposing officer, gentleman and statesman.

They speak in tongues at my church. Hebrew and English. I was wondering what happened with this potential daisy-cutter of a weapon. Now I see that team McCain will use it at the appropriate time. Just highlights the BO strategy of throwing anything and everything to see what happends. Well, they have virtually fired all they’ve got to little or no effect (mostly blowback on them).

This is going to work because the ads about Franklin Raines, Hugo Chavez et al are about BO’s relationships. This is the utimate relationship and it will come home to roost on his head.

Might even have the very unintended effect of having the good reverend start making appearances and TALKING!!!!!!!

J.J. Sefton on September 20, 2008 at 6:52 AM

It’s headed by a pastor who likes to speak of his experience ‘witch hunting’ in Africa

You are mistaken. That was a visiting minister from Africa who spoke while on tour in Alaska. He shared his experiences from his own African community where the people suffered violence; how they pinned down the source through information, and banished the trouble maker who in fact saw herself as THE source of black magic.

maverick muse on September 20, 2008 at 6:56 AM

That incident occurred as Palin was deciding whether to pursue candidacy as Alaska’s governor. Christians believe in the power of prayer. Palin owes NO APOLOGY for exercising her own traditional Christian faith. Neither does the visiting minister from Africa.

maverick muse on September 20, 2008 at 7:02 AM

Do a series of commercials that all begin and end the same way:

–Open with voice-over “Who’s in Obama’s Circle of Friends”, with Barry surrounded by the faces of Ayers, Wright, Dohrn, Raines, Rezko, and others.

–Select one picture and tell this person’s story.

–End with “Barack Obama’s judgement– not ready to lead,” with a pullback showing other circles of friends radiating further and further away.

Put seven or eight commercials like this in rotation, to build the full image of the circles Barry surrounds himself with.

snickelfritz on September 20, 2008 at 8:14 AM

If McCain brings up the ad unprovoked he’ll be the one that receives the backlash as he previously promised not to. He probably won’t bring it up unless Obama mentions Keating.

Mock Obama’s vanity. Run the clip of him twirling in his jeans to the admiration of the press–then do the clip of his wife saying don’t for for “her because she’s cute.”

The clips of him dancing on Ellen would work too.

Then there are the blithering idiot vids — is this the man you want to send to talk to Putin?

Every time there is an attack on Palin or McCain, a response is justified. There’s been a daily savaging of Palin on CNN, CNBC, and every tabloid in my supermarket. That’s all some people see or hear about her, and they’re making sure it sinks in by repetition. No further provocation is needed.

Typhosentra:

McCain was cleared of any charges in the Keating business. Obama on the other hand, spent 20 years in Wright’s church. In 2006, five years after Wright insulted the dead of 9/11 Obama gave his church more than $26,000. That is the problem with Democrats…they always minimize their own misdeeds while exaggerating the mistakes of others.

I’m pretty angry at this point that the McCain campaign stepped right into a pile of feces with that stupid sex education ad. The media have decided that McCain has gone into the gutter and is lying. I don’t think attacking Jeremiah Wright at this point is going to turn that around. It smacks of desperation to me and that is exactly how the MSM will play it. Obama does not attend this church any more and that is all the media will say. It will most likely be the end of McCain’s campaign.

I think McCain really has created, and Obama has handed him, a much more effective line of attack this week. Start calling him “Senator Present.” He’s trying to “vote present” on the Wall Street crisis and sell a bunch of BS to the media that this makes him more of a statesman than the “panicky” McCain. If he had been president this week our financial system would have collapsed completely while he huddled with his 300 advisors and tried first to figure out how to get the media to not blame him for any of it. This is right in line with his total ineptitude after the Russian invasion of Georgia, while John McCain was decisive and right.

I do not care what Barack Obama’s preacher said last year from the pulpit. I care that he is a spineless, clueless cipher who is going to destroy this country and make it a laughingstock Third World banana republic if he is elected president.

rockmom on September 20, 2008 at 9:46 AM

If they really want to get after Obama in certain states, they ought to do an ad with all these Democrat mouthpieces saying “Jesus was a community organizer.” Comparing Barack Obama with Jesus Christ? Then add all the other “messiah” stuff like the fake seal and the halo photos and such. I think a heck of a lot of Christians will be very uncomfortable with that. Usually we see the media accusing Republicans of “playing the Jesus card.”

rockmom on September 20, 2008 at 9:50 AM

Yes he did, Terrye…check the video if you can still find it on youtube. At one point it had been doctored to obscure his penis bulging out his pants but if you zoomed it you could clearly see it. His parade was not to show off his jeans and it would not have resulted in the embarrassed giggle-fit the passengers were having. An adult man would have sat down until it passed. But then again, an adult man would not have given Mrs. Clinton the finger, either. Obama is a wiseass who needs to be sat down, cuffed up alongside the head and given instructions on real manly behavior.

gracie on September 20, 2008 at 9:52 AM

rockmom:

I don’t know, thus far economic issues are not good for Republicans, even when they should be.

As for the media, they always paint the Republicans liars. I think the sex ed was credible. There might have been better things to do an ad about, but it does not change the fact that Obama supported talking sex with 5 year olds.

I do care about the fact that Obama could sit in that church for 20 years and listen to that crap. That says every bit as much about his character as voting present does.

And there are a lot of people who were not paying attention last spring when this story broke. I am not saying they need to talk about it all the time every day, but they can and should work it into a series of ads about judgment and personal choices. It says a lot about Obama’s character.

I agree with you rockmom. Obama, a manchild of no conviction, did play “Senator Present” on Friday and will continue to do so if elected “President Present”. He is no leader. McCain’s people must focus on this.
And I will say that I have been waiting for a leader like Sarah Palin for a long time to help me see what’s happening…I don’t even consider her a politician. She’s right on life and our lives in this country.

gracie on September 20, 2008 at 10:08 AM

I think someone should tell Allah that they do not scream God DAMN America in the Assembly of God church.

Terrye on September 19, 2008 at 9:38 PM

Thank you. As much as the media will try to insist that Palin’s church is as bizarre as Obama’s, it will not sell in flyover country. First, because Americans are extremely familiar with AOG churches, most have friends who belong to that denomination, I know I do, and they will be offended by the suggestion. Secondly, we are an image driven society, for the public to be showered with a barrage of images of Jeremiah Wright’s distorted “Liberation Theology” and profane disrespect of our country can not be good for Obama. If it is a trap of Obama’s to pull McCain into this argument, he is too clever by half.

Renae on September 20, 2008 at 10:22 AM

Here is the perfect ad:

Show a montage of Rev Wright and Ayres along with Jimmah carter referring to B. Hussain as a Black Boy.

Then at the end have John McCain say:

I am John McCain and I do not approve this message!

TheSitRep on September 20, 2008 at 10:23 AM

Terrye, I’m just telling you that McCain has already been tagged as running sleazy ads that at least stretch the truth. The sex ed ad was stupid as the issue has nothing to do with this campaign. They would be better off highlighting all of Obama’s “present” votes and all the refusals to release documents.

Here’s an ad I’d like to see:

“What do you really know about Barack Obama?

He attended Columbia University and Harvard Law School. Impressive. But he won’t release his transcripts.

He moved to Illinois and practiced law. But he won’t release his Illinois State Bar application or tell us who his clients were.

He ran an organization that gave out $50 million in grants to help improve Chicago’s public schools. But he won’t tell us who hired him or where the money went. And today Chicago has one of the poorest performing public school systems in the country.

Then he ran for the Illinois State Senate. He voted “present” 130 times, and now says there are no records of anyone he met with as a state senator. They’ve been “lost.”

Now, after serving just 143 days in the United States Senate, Barack Obama is running for President. He chairs an important Subcommittee in the Senate, but never held a hearing. He says the Senate adopted his economic stimulus plan, which is not true, and he didn’t even show up to vote for the bill that actually passed. He won’t release all of his medical records. He’s accepted campaign contributions from Palestinians associated with Hamas. His campaign gave $800,000 to ACORN, an organization facing vote fraud and embezzlement charges in five states.

What do you really know about Barack Obama?”

rockmom on September 20, 2008 at 10:23 AM

Despite the efforts of the scummy media (aka Democratic Party) to shriek otherwise, what could be MORE RELEVANT than a Presidential candidate attending a church for 20 years WHERE THEY SCREAM GODDAMN AMERICA FROM THE PULPIT?

Exit question: How does six weeks of guilt-by-association one-upsmanship sound? Wright, then Hagee, then Ayers, then Palin’s church, then …?

My current thinking is that the six weeks of guilt-by-association may not be so bad. Who our demons are speaks volumes about our political preferences. I started a discussion at the gay, Jewish congregation about whether the Christian Right or the Muslims are our greatest enemy. Since I’m posting here, you know my choice is the Muslims. Many there thought the greatest enemy was the Christian Right. And you could divide the Republicans from the Democrats simply by that question. The only problem I see with this is that there are many issues that aren’t reducible to this choice of enemies. On the other hand, you get pick from one of two choices for president and thus deeper thinking about those other issues won’t really help if that choice of demons telescopes the most important issues we face in this election.

thuja on September 20, 2008 at 10:35 AM

It isn’t relevant to me at all, because I know that Barack Obama only attended that church because Bill Ayers and Penny Prizker told him to. Of course he should have quit, as Oprha did. But I don’t think he really believes any of that Black Liberation Theology crap. He went to that church because that’s the church that the cream of black Chicago society attends.

I am a hell of lot more concerned about whether Barack Obama really was an affirmative-action C student at Columbia and Harvard; whether he lied about his past drug use on his Illinois State Bar application; whether he gave money through the Annenberg Challenge to various radical groups at the driection of Bill Ayers, that did nothing to help schoolchildren; whether he voted “present” 130 times because he was too stupid to understand the legislation and didn’t want anyone holding him accountable; and whether his campaign is now paying ACORN to run massive vote fraud schemes to get him elected. I would also like to know how much of his two books was ghost-written for him.

I’m saying it right now: Barack Obama is a mediocre intellect whose entire adult life has been created out of whole cloth by some Chicago radicals and shoved down our throats as some genius Messiah. I don’t give a damn where he went to church or what his preacher said. He is a fake and a phony and I want to rip the hide off him befire it’s too late.

What I am waiting (hoping) to surface:
A nice video clip of Obama clapping and cheering to a Rev. Wright racist or anti-American church sermon….

Or Michelle in the church giving the congregation an anti-white, anti-America, blame the whiteys educational speech…

Or a video of Obama, Michelle, the kids, Rev. Wright and others all linked arm and arm, swaying back and forth to Rev. Wright spewing his form of hate “religion” to the congregation…

Or some video shots together at the annual church picnic or potluck dinner with Obama and Rev. Wright slapping each other’s backs and saying things those outside the church shouldn’t hear…

Somebody has to have those videos and more.

It is tough to find a comprehensive list of O’s shortcomings in any one place. A single web page or video would be perfect.
Whenever I make my argument for McCain to an O supporter, especially the younger ones, the toughest part is getting them to filter through all the various sources. They usually have a short attention span, so having a single, factual, concise summary, either text or video, would be most helpful.

There seem to be two reasons that Mr O would stay at that “church.” He was inspired by the sermons or membership in that “place of worship” was beneficial to his political career. Either reason means he cannot be trusted.

Additionally, I don’t trust Barack “Teleprompter” Obama because he is a Cook County Illinois Democrat, with the same political tradition of William “Big Bill” Thompson, Michael “Hinky Dink” Kenna, and “Bathhouse” John Coughlin.

Pelayo on September 20, 2008 at 11:14 AM

I saw this at Wisbang. It is interesting, but kind of long. Here is a part of the post:

So, put it all together, and in the past week Obama has stayed steady or lost support in every party identification group, yet Gallup says his overall support went up four points. And McCain stayed steady or went up in every party identification group, yet we are supposed to accept the claim that his overall support went down by four points? Anyone have an answer for how that is even possible?

Well, actually I do. There is one, and only one, possible way that such a thing can happen mathematically. And that way, is that Gallup made major changes to the political affiliation weighting from the last week to now. Gallup has significantly increased the proportional weight of Democrat response and reduced the weight of Republican response. Bear in mind that this assumes that people change the foundation of their political opinion like a showgirl changes costumes, which has no scientific basis or historical support whatsoever. As I said earlier, the Gallup Organization is very much a professional polling agency, who tries their level best to gauge the national mood. That, after all, is why I chose to use their poll for my examination. I could do the same thing with any other of the major published polls, and I can tell you straight-up that I would find the same practice going on everywhere. But just because something is popular, does not validate it as a scientific method. Rather than report the rising and falling levels of support for Obama and McCain with constant party identification weighting, the Gallup and other polls are shifting the party weights over time, which pretty explains how the ‘bounce’ happens for each convention. When the Democrats held their convention, the polls increased the weight of Democrats and lowered the Republican response, and when the Republicans had their convention, the polls gave the Republicans more weight. That’s why Palin made such an immediate difference in the polls; the Liberals were not all that impressed with her, but the Republicans were happy and with a bigger share of the weight their response was magnified. I can’t prove it, since the Gallup people do not invite me into their strategy meetings, but I think somewhere they are weighting the party ID by the mood as they see it. The problem there, is that such weighting is still very subjective, and what’s more it fails to consider that someone may consider themselves a member of one party with respect to the House and Senate races, but something else entirely when it comes to voting for the President. The state of Oklahoma, for example, is a very Democratic place, but it’s pretty solid for McCain, just as it was for Bush. So weighting a presidential poll for party identification on the basis of how they think someone will vote for Congress, is going to miss the mark.

Anyway, going back to my earlier piece on party weighting, if we go back and look at the historical track record for the last ten years in terms of self-identified party affiliation from actual exit polls, we see a clear standard of weights; 38.4% Democrat, 35.8% Republican, 26.0% Independent. If we then work them out to fill the liberal/moderate/conservative slots used by Gallup, the following weights have historical validity and may be used as a constant for poll responses:

Liberal Democrat 9%
Moderate Democrat 16%
Conservative Democrat 13%
Independent 26%
Liberal/Moderate Republican 23%
Conservative Republican 13%

If we apply those weights to the poll response, here is what happens to the Gallup polling responses:

August 21: Obama 39.94%, McCain 43.43%, Undecided 16.63%
August 28: Obama 40.04%, McCain 43.60%, Undecided 16.36%
September 4: Obama 41.06%, McCain 41.77%, Undecided 17.17%
September 11: Obama 42.04%, McCain 42.45%, Undecided 15.51%
September 18: Obama 39.62%, McCain 45.71%, Undecided 14.67%

Terrye on September 20, 2008 at 11:18 AM

Terrye, my son and I agree that this election will either be very close or else it will be a runaway for McCain. I am begining it think that The O will win no more than four states.

The Republicans need to put the responsibility for the current economic situation exactly where it lies. It lies with the vigorous enforcement of the The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977. Banks and mortgage companies were forced to ignore sound lending practices and provide loans to people who should not have home loans. All one has to do is search using “subprime loan.”

Remember the Rose Law Firm. Whitewater lost people their retirements. It didn’t take down the Clintons. Not even when a Clinton aide lied about hauling papers out of a White House room and a secret service agent with years of loyal service testified she did

Rezko just makes Obama corrupt.

That does not make people dislike or fear him.

Corruption in politics is so prevalent people block out the static.

The McCainites can play up Rezko to show Obama is like any other politician but it does not have the Wright punch

At this moment the DEMs are terrified that white middle class America will reject Obama out of fear (which they call racism)

The real fear is the fear that Obama believes Rev. Wright.

If Obama shares beliefs with Wright, white middle America will correctly fear him. That is called the fight for survival. It is primal and must be obeyed

White middle america will shut up to pollsters and vote against Obama in the booth to save their hides

A corrupt politician is not the same as a corrupt politician who calls a racist preacher his mentor

entagor on September 20, 2008 at 11:44 AM

What would REALLY get Obama himself completely falling apart with rage is for Republicans to start attacking him as dumb. Use the gaffes he is repeatedly making when trying to speak off the cuff. We have him saying there are 57 states, he was on the Banking Committee, he “passed” the economic stimulus bill. We have photos of him using a teleprompter at a rodeo. He stumbled and bumbled through the Georgia crisis. Of course this will all create a squeal of “racist” from the Obamabots, but that card has already been thrown so many times people are numb to it. Make people worry that this guy really is an empty suit and not smart enough for the job. He’s going to prove it in the debates.

When his campaign starts complaining, THEN we start demanding to see his transcripts and his law clients and other records he is withholding.

csdeven on September 20, 2008 at 12:44 PM

I don’t know, thus far economic issues are not good for Republicans, even when they should be.

How can economic issues be good for Repubicans? Bush has accumulated a massive debt (another $10,000 per US citizen) with the purported goal of robust economic growth. Add to our $10 trillion debt the $1 – $2 tril bailout of Wall Street institutions, and the country’s financial situation is starting to look tenuous. People don’t remember why Bush Sr. broke his pledge not to raise taxes- it was because the massive US deficit was starting to spook the bond market, or threaten the interest rate engine the powers the economy.

Yes, two years ago it was easy to say don’t worry about the debt, be happy. A meltdown on Wall Street is very unlikely. But these types of events to occur as you now realize, and that’s why balancing the budget is important- it provides a financial buffer for emergencies. Bush stripped away that buffer over the past 6 years and has exposed this country to a number of real perils. One is discussed by Michael Bloomberg below. God help the next President.

http://www.newsday.com/business/nationworld/wire/sns-ap-economy-bloomberg,0,1368791.story

As for the media, they always paint the Republicans liars. I think the sex ed was credible. There might have been better things to do an ad about, but it does not change the fact that Obama supported talking sex with 5 year olds.

Don’t be a propaganda tool. Obama didnt’ support ‘talking sex with 5 year olds’. He supported a program to teach kids how to react when approached or touched in certain ways. If children aren’t taught how to respond to predatory behavior, they are completely exposed and vulnerable to predators. Many people in Illinois want to stop child molestation.

Democrats damn near bringing down the global banking system

Is that what happened?

bayam on September 20, 2008 at 1:13 PM

bayam:

When the Democrats took control of Congress the deficit was less than half what it is now, and Bush had been president for 6 years. The unemployment rate was less when they took over, so was the price of gas and oil.

Clinton decided to make it possible for people who care not afford houses to buy them. That started more than a decade ago. That is Clinton for you. He would get these bright ideas and then leave it to the next guy to pick up the pieces. I don’t care if it was the dot com crash, Saddam Hussein or AlQaida.

Then in 2003 when people like Raines were busy committing felonies at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Bush administration tried to get regulation for these two agencies moved over to the Treasury Dept, but Democrats like Barny Frank and Chris Dodd blocked all action. Just like they blocked action when McCain tried to bring some sanity to that same system in 2005. Now after years of doing absolutely nothing to stop this from happening, these same Democrats work to cover their asses.

The Congressional Democrats did not even want to stay in town and deal with this until Paulson twisted their arms. They are useless.

So that debt was not just Bush’s debt.

As for the sex ed thing, kids at 5 years of age can be doing more productive things in school. Of course what does Obama know about public school? He sends his kids to a private school with a tuition of over $20,000 a year for each. Those kids would do better with vouchers than some stranger saying don’t let the bad man touch your wee wee.

Terrye on September 20, 2008 at 1:18 PM

Yes, that is what happened. I know you will never admit it. When confronted with something like this your ilk immediately does two things:

1] cover your ass
2] look for ways to use misfortune to your political advantage.

But that obvious truth is that this began when Clinton was president and Democrats have fought for years to avoid bringing accountability to an increasingly out of control system. And it was the Bush administration that came up with a solution. The Democrats were too busy raving like loons.

You’re right, the debt has grown at the same rate regardless of who’s in Congress. Bush has been the one constant.

That’s an interesting take on the commodities bull market. I never thought of blaming politicians for demand in the global energy markets- only the way DC has responded to it.

Clinton decided to make it possible for people who care not afford houses to buy them. That started more than a decade ago. That is Clinton for you. He would get these bright ideas and then leave it to the next guy to pick up the pieces.

Are you saying that the home loans going into default were largely acquired by homeowners before 2000? Do you know how completely foolish such a statement is?

Experts point to the most painful subprime lending practices as the real source of our problems. Those practices started well after 2000 as a way to extend the housing boom far longer than it ever should have lasted.

Wild guess- you don’t have an economics degree.

So what’s this on Drudge about Obama in Florida attacking McCain’s policy on women?

maverickmuse: Several weeks ago, our morning talk show host,Jim Quinn, had a whole feature on the size of senatorial Obama’s staff, paid and unpaid. Given that Obama has little legislation to show for that team, the excess is laughable in itself. His staff far exceeds McCain’s, yet McCain serves on several significant committees.

The other kicker is that Obama’s women staff that are paid are recompensed far less than the men. On the other hand, McCain’s women staff salaries proportionately exceed those of the men.

I wish that I knew the source of the information that Quinn (and Rose) were citing, but I was driving at the time that tidbit was airing and didn’t pay attention to their intro.

That’s unfair to one’s spouse to say the least. And if you’re married to Michelle Obama \\*flashback to Lorena Bobbit*// If it is true someone should “out” him because to be SGWM&POTUS Secretly Gay While Married & President of the U.S. opens the door to blackmail which would be a huge threat to our national security. Not to mention how much I’d LOVE to see how Ms-If-You-Can’t-Run-Your-Own-House-You-Certainly-Can’t-Run-The-White-House would handle the news. (I’ve always thought that remark was her way of telling her husband to clean up his act or she’d spill the beans on his infidelities.) Remember the interview she gave to Glamour Magazine a year ago? Speaking of her girls, she said, “We have this ritual in the morning. They come in my bed, and Dad isn’t there—because he’s too snore-y and stinky, they don’t want to ever get into bed with him.” After people picked up on it,and started wondering if they slept in separate beds, Glamour went back and added the word “if” (and if Dad isn’t there) to its online article. Nothing about him would surprise me, he seems to be without conscience just like Bill Clinton. No core, no conscience. Gay or straight, I just want a president with some integrity.

The funny thing is that in a few short years (5th and 6th grade), those children would be getting educated on the virtues of homosexuality. And Oslime-a would be pushing that bill too.
