Greta on CBC columnist who called Palin white trash: She’s a pig

Fair and balanced? No. Awesome? Indeed. Via Kathy Shaidle, here’s David Warren back on Fox for another go at the nasty progressive bilge his tax dollars are paying for. He’s kidding himself, of course, about Mallick’s column serving as some sort of wake-up call to Americans about anti-Americanism; she didn’t say anything in that piece we don’t hear every day from, say, the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. But stick with it, as he wraps this up in a bow with a point about the Canadian “Human Rights Commission” that’ll be familiar to you but no less gratifying for its familiarity.

Given the location of a certain Northern State in the Union of the USA, when the Earth someday reverses its axis, instead of being America’s hat… Canada can be America’s jock-strap.
A worthy and well earned privilege at this point.
…
With all the hate and bile that is spewed up America by an inordinate number of citizens AND governments from other countries, despite our unfailing loyalty to defend them and help them all when they need it in good times and bad, including Canada, and with the fervent wishes of those same persons residing in foreign lands for America to fail, while at the same time we turn the other cheek and we grant and give away billions upon billions of dollars in aid to countries that hate us all over the world… I’m almost happy that they too will suffer because of our current economic crisis.
Be careful what you wish for loud mouthed yappy lap dog kool-aid guzzlers across the globe, you just might get it.
We really REALLY need to stop giving away our money, efforts, and support to these people who just constantly spit in our face and start taking care of OUR OWN for a g** damn change.

So Greta calls Mallick a pig? Twice?
What an amazingly mature and professional examination of the column.
All Greta’s rightful indignation over it went out the window as soon as she did that.
Dave Rywall on September 19, 2008 at 10:40 PM
Drywall the troll, welcome back.
At least she didn’t try to put lipstick on it. Considering that Greta is often liberal biased, I find it amazing that she even challanged the CBC on this. In a way, your point is taken, but just maybe so called average American women are just getting tired of seeing another so called average American Woman being bashed and are going to strike out at the bashers. Good for them! It’s about time. Rise up Ladies!!!

If the rest of the world didn’t have a dog to kick, just think of what it would really be like.

Are we so short of Palin haters here in the USA that we have to start importing from Canada? Could it be – Canadian pundits doing the jobs that Kos won’t do?
darkpixel on September 20, 2008 at 6:24 AM
Aren’t you supposed to be compiling that huge list of racist comments by Rush?
saint kansas on September 20, 2008 at 6:39 AM
I don’t understand the appeal of being a troll. I guess it means some mini-fame in that we all know who D. Rywall is now (and the rest of us blend in with each other). But why spend hours reading articles from a political perspective you don’t agree with and post comments that change nobody’s mind and only elicit torrents of abuse at yourself?
zmrzlina on September 20, 2008 at 7:05 AM
I’m sorry you are giving Mallick this platform. She has every right to say whatever she wants, however, we have every right not to have her words shoved down our throats.
tgillian on September 20, 2008 at 7:40 AM
The point about the inquisitions against Levant and Steyn for hate speech vs the sanctioning of this hate speech by the CBC is well taken.
drjohn on September 20, 2008 at 8:31 AM
Heather Mallick should be concentrating her garbage more on the issues happening in her own country. Why doesn’t she start with the idiotic issue of making French the only language spoken in the province of Quebec? That is enough of a hotbed issue to keep her busy until like around 2012.
pilamaye on September 20, 2008 at 8:33 AM
This guy from Canada is alerting us here in the USA that Canada has a long standing doublemindedness about all things that happen in the USA; [1] They like the States, but [2]they despise the “rednecks”.This has been the ONLY issue in Canadian politics for 150+ years. It is whoever can best express this contempt that makes the Canadians feel superior to the USA that wins their elections. When in Canada never say you are an “American” because they will be offended by your attitude that the USA is all of North America.

Aren’t Republicans supposed to be the party of “mean”? If you take Keith Olbergoebbels, Bill Maher, David Letterman,Joyless Behar and many other deranged T.V. types as examples of love on the left, I’d say these are some of the meanest people I’ve ever seen. Most of all, they hate people that work for a living, and have some degree of success through their hard work. Socialism is an ugly thing indeed…
adamsmith on September 20, 2008 at 9:19 AM
OK, that explains it. I was going to say I remember Greta being extremely defensive of Hillary in the primaries and now she seems genuiely disgusted at the nasty attacks on Sarah Palin. I thought maybe she was a true feminist.
Renae on September 20, 2008 at 10:01 AM
PDS has gone around the bend…
The hatred by the establishment Left — the irony of attaching the word “establishment” to these folks, many of whom lived to “fight the Establishment” in their distant youth, delights me — has become quite toxic…and it didn’t take long….
Remember: they don’t hate Palin, hate Bush, hate Cheney, hate Halliburton, or hate Rush or Hannity or Beck or even O’Reilly. They hate us. Red state voter=infidel, apostate and heretic all rolled into one. Lucifer, in their cosmology, lives in a red state.
The Left is on a crusade, and Sarah Palin is their Saladin. More to the point, the Left is on a crusade and Sarah Palin is their Jud Suss.
The posh guy Greta interviews is right. We need to put this front-and-center and have a very loud discussion about the patina of objectivity of the Canadian press, American press, European press and the academia where they all learned their worldview.
(OK, he didn’t say all that, but I astrally projected into his cerebral cortex and did some shoplifting.)
When did Palin ever discuss her religion? When, in the 2+ weeks since she’s been in the barrel, has she done much besides recycle her acceptance speech?
She doesn’t like what Obama stands for, and has poked a few holes in the general direction of his resume. You’d expect that of the running mate of the guy who’s running against Obama. But, has she laid out her plan for a McCain administration? If she has, loan me the Ouija board you used to read it.
The Left is assuming a LOT in their trashing of Sarah. They think they know what she thinks…after all, as the avatar of their own fevered bete noir, they’ve seen her in their sleep since they were protesting in favor of the Sandinistas during the Reagan Administration…”Nicaragua is not our enemy!”…”NO nukes!”…”End The Patriarchy!”….
…I think that “pig” used twice is a fair recompense for “porn star looks”…Sarah looks nothing like the girls I’ve seen in the porn that I’ve run across…no visible tattoos, for one thing….

In the world of the malignant narcissist, the reaction is all-important. It feeds his ego: compiling the “lulz”.
Spiny Norman on September 20, 2008 at 1:05 PM
Palin Derangement Syndrome in full bloom. The leftiesthat she claims are her own gallery, hate speech tactics are typical of the attitude seen anywhere anyone stands up for mainstream values. The lefties are running scared of Sarah Palin to put this much effort in a smear job that has no basis in fact. What will the lefties do when Doh-bama loses? Scream racism and promote violence I suspect.
Kuffar on September 20, 2008 at 1:13 PM
(at the risk of sounding like a one-note poster)
Why are they running scared?
Look at the reaction the Palin pick initially had. An actual outsider getting a national nod? What sort of a message would that send to the prols, ask the solons of the Left.
The peasants (citizens) are in danger of revolting. No longer content to go about their business (business, by and large), leaving the vanguard of the proletariat to infiltrate and machinate at will, we find that the mildly celebratory atmosphere surrounding the Divine Sarah’s pick and initial presentation shows that the “conditioning” of the establishment press on the parents and of academia on their children is not as efficacious as the timetable would have had them think.
The point of that last long and tortured sentence (translated into “redneck” so’s even I can understand it): the Left is “larnin’” that their “bullsh*t” ain’t workin’. Sarah’s got ‘em riled up.
I wonder why McCain’s not noticing the “class war angle”, and — producing 3-5 ads a day — isn’t floating this one as a trial balloon. There’s been splendid traction whenever the Semi-Devine Mr. O’s been tarred with the “elitist” brush. Remember “God and guns and bitterness” crack? That’d have a lot more oomph than “Raines gave him advice” or “Wright’s a baaaaaaaad dude”.
…and, if anyone wants to tar me with “racist” for saying that Mr. O could be tarred, go right ahead. I’ll gladly provide my ample measurements to anyone who wants to supply me with a bedsheet and hood. I’ve already got the Confederate battle flag.
Puritan1648 on September 20, 2008 at 1:37 PM
Heather Mallick is an expert on white trash whores. She’s been one all her life and has to look at one every time she sees a mirror. Must be a horrible way to live. Oh shucks. I went to her level and now my credibility is equal to hers. I do feel better though.
volsense on September 20, 2008 at 2:03 PM
Dave, your reputation for fucking up the analysis of nearly every issue that comes up remains untarnished. That you might suggest someone has ceded the high ground in a discussion of “the white trash vote” and the suggestion that Sarah Palin is angling for the porn star look is quite remarkable, even for you.
As usual, HotAir readers are treated not only to the umpteenth reminder that liberals are stupid, vicious little queers, and the worst kind of hypocrites – as if one needed reminding – but also to the umpteenth reminder that no matter how idiotic the subject liberal appears, some other liberal clown like a Dave Rywall will effectively endorse their comments and defend them from return fire.
No hole too deep for you monkeys to jump into with a big shovel, eh Dave?

It doesn’t seem possible to have a general budget of some $2,500,000,000,000 annually and a poorly educated ruling class that ignores such regime principles as the ennumerated powers and the separation of powers, and yet maintain a free and peaceful regime. It seems that hatred, envy, and contempt must grow as men struggle to control such vast income and scarcely restrained power. But the power that would be required to restore the regime to its sustainable form seems so great as to complete its destruction instead, if not on account of opposition, then on account of scandalous example.

Hey Remember when the Left wasn’t being so Subtle? Me neither. Here is a golden oldy. What is in the dark recesses of the Lefty brain? It isn’t pretty and it is all coming to the surface. Look Progressives this is why they make medication pill or patch form. Still the Progressives should consult a licensed therapist, my money is on a wide spread case of tourettes. From recent video on the Breitbart site, it looks like they are back at, what Jon Stewart was calling them on last August. Democrats: I see white people LOL!

uh huh how long have you been seeing White People? Jonathan Alter?

Dr Evil on September 20, 2008 at 3:45 PM
Actually, no. Contempt and indignation are important precisely because they are bodily preparations for destruction and revenge. Men’s naming those whom they despise trash and animals becomes preparatory to their treating them as trash and animals, and reciprocation isn’t cancellation, as you seem to think, but escalation.
Kralizec on September 20, 2008 at 4:03 PM
The larger point that Greta misses is at the end of David Warren’s comments about how conservative journalists in Canada are being paraded in front of Human Rights commissions just for discussing issues in opposition to the Left.
We’re not too far away from losing our liberties in this country either; Fairness Doctrine, McCain Feingold, …
There’s some baaaad voodoo coming…
jeffersonschild on September 20, 2008 at 5:34 PM
“need to hear it when it’s coming from abroad.” Um, do they know where Canada is in relation to the U.S.? Do they think they’re part of Europe now? Hangin around Madonna too much I suspect.
Hey up there. England let ya go ya know, eh?
oakpack on September 20, 2008 at 5:44 PM
Dave,
Perhaps you mean objectivity? Her righteous indignation was intact, although usually righteous indignation indicates some sort of moral superiority or high ground, which she doesn’t use because she didn’t stoop to Mrs. Mallick’s level. There is a difference between using bigoted pejoratives and saying someone is uncouth, piggish, etc.
