But this is America. You get what you vote for, and apparently his constituency likes re-electing him.
I seriously think you should have to pass a test in order to vote. We make people take a test to get a drivers license or a gun license. These days, a voting mistake can kill an entire country.

I don’t get the response. The reporter asked why the Democrats where so afraid of Palin and that’s how he answers? It’s a non-sequitur response that doesn’t make any sense. Did he mean her popularity is only because people feel obligated to be nice to her because they think she’s retarded? Seriously? Is that what he was getting at?

Guess people need to email Charlie Gibson and ABC for the dishonest editing.. The Black areas Below were edited and Cut out of the ABC Gibson interview(Not played on TV)
—————-
GIBSON: You believe unprovoked.
PALIN: I do believe unprovoked and we have got to keep our eyes on Russia, under the leadership there. I think it was unfortunate. That manifestation that we saw with that invasion of Georgia shows us some steps backwards that Russia has recently taken away from the race toward a more democratic nation with democratic ideals. That’s why we have to keep an eye on Russia.
And, Charlie, you’re in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They’re very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.
GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?
PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.
GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they’re doing in Georgia?
PALIN: Well, I’m giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.
Sarah Palin on Russia:
We cannot repeat the Cold War. We are thankful that, under Reagan, we won the Cold War, without a shot fired, also. We’ve learned lessons from that in our relationship with Russia, previously the Soviet Union.
We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

Look at how calm and collected Rangel is when he says it. He probably planned on saying it in advance. It doesn’t look to me like he lost control of his mouth.

ex-Democrat on September 19, 2008 at 7:29 PM
Well, that settles that…
Rangel’s off the hook
Charlie cuts a few checks for 3 years of back taxes- no penalties, no interest. Then complains of “guerrilla warfare” against him.
If anyone here owned that much in back taxes, we’d be in court with the IRS facing prison time, plus 3 years of worth of fines, penalties and interest on top of taxes owed. Charlie… an ethics investigation in Congress.
I give up. Between Charlie’s BS and the ridiculousness that has kept Obama not only out of jail but in the pole position for President- for the first time in my adult life, I am ashamed of my country.

No doubt he knew what he was saying. The supposed intelligence of O! is a democrat talking point. We’re afraid of him because we’re not from his neighborhood, remember? McCain is senile. Palin is dumb. Gotta’ keep on point.
Actually, in that light, Rangel did a great job shilling for O!

I’m not what you point is.
I don’t think McCain or Palin are dumb – I’ve never said I did – so if you’re trying to make some larger point about how the media gives Dems a free pass on gaffes you’re using the wrong person’s comment to illustrate it.

Let’s see, considering:
- This week’s race baiting from the MSM and Democrats, not to mention to prior weeks and months
- Obama has taken to inciting riots
This country is screwed. If McCain loses, this idiot will run the country into the ground within 1 year with the help of Pelosi and Reid. Republicans would not stand a chance of stopping anything. Obama has no regard for the Constitution, even if something got blocked, he’s just sign it anyway. The world is going to roll him like a 3 year old, friends and enemies alike. He hasn’t figured out that that is WHY he’s popular… they know he’ll play right into their hands. Terrorist will rage unchecked as he calls restraint and for us to understand their frustration as they devastate American cities.
If McCain win, there will be race/ party riots from the second the electoral votes are counted. I doubt that we’ll even make it to his acceptance speech before the riots start. Cities will burn… imagine the LA riots- happening simultaneously in NYC, LA, Detroit, Chicago and other cities across the US. National guard, martial law… you name it.
The next day will start all the Jesse Jacksons, Al Sharptons and the rest of the “community organizing” crowd, who will demand recounts, organize marches and tie up every talk show for months, blabbing about how the white man cheated them.
That all ought to last till Inauguration Day, when it will start all over again.

You’re right, but if she came out of hiding from the press and started granting serious interviews, then there would be less controversy. When a candidate on the Presidential ticket has such a limited number of statements on the record in areas of national import, this is going to be the outcome.

anniekc on September 19, 2008 at 8:05 PM
I want to agree with you, but I think that you are underestimating a couple key points
1. Obama’s already done it and stands a good chance of becoming President.
2. The Congressional majority agrees with this type of thinking (from the link).
3. Obama currently has the support of +/- 45% of the country while he is parading around these views.
We’ve all made a lot of jokes, but Obama’s perspective on things is SEVERELY distorted and disturbing. That alone is cause for serious alarm, but couple with his inexperience, naivety and consistent history of disregarding ethics, law and the Constitution is a recipe for disaster.

You’re right, but if she came out of hiding from the press and started granting serious interviews, then there would be less controversy. When a candidate on the Presidential ticket has such a limited number of statements on the record in areas of national import, this is going to be the outcome.
bayam on September 19, 2008 at 7:59 PM
The point is that if ’serious interviews’ are edited to diminish and misrepresent her views, how many will it take until the MSM represents her fairly? She has been a VP candidate for all of 3 weeks or so. While Obama, McCain, and Biden have been running for President for 4 years or more. Soon, the MSM will realize that the only way to shut her out is to ignore her and NOT INTERVIEW HER AT ALL. This appears to be starting already, with the NY Iranian protest cancelations. Anything to keep her out of the spotlight.

Well,,,Take a look around Americans. This is what happens when good people do NOTHING! This is what happens when we bend over for fear of a back lash from the liberals. This is what happens when we worry about the P.C crap. This is what happens when we let special interest groups control the laws set by our founding Fathers. this is what happens when we let the liberals dictate the media. I’ve said for months how dangerous obama is, this is part of it, the media, politicians, liberals are not holding back, they see how many people are flocking towards obama, a man who has no allegiance towards America, walks with American terrorist, cheats tax payers out of money, he bleeds corruption. This man has opened the door for all the closet haters to come out of the closet. Ashamed of America?…NEVER!! Ashamed of the people who sat back and did nothing,..yes..guilty.
christene on September 19, 2008 at 8:49 PM
Palin doesn’t neatly fit into a category. We each have a personal identity, for better or worse. A butcher, a baker, a candlestick maker. It is our vehicle, it is us, it can be a shield, we can pretend at it, we can pimp it, we can sell it high or sell it low. Sarah Palin — who is she? A governor and politician, yes. But also a wife, mother of 5, outdoorsman, former beauty queen, mayor, basketball star, local sports newsreader. She’s not wearing a mask or playing a role, she’s too busy living her life to do that. She’s a supreme multitasker, and a simple conservative who wants to empower others to follow and achieve their dreams, their own dreams. How can you attack a woman like that? They’re trying to destroy her, but it’s not working so far.
Paul-Cincy on September 19, 2008 at 8:52 PM
Random anecdotal story I must share: in 2004, I was a volunteer at the RNC in NYC. CNN had this sort of dinner/food court across the street, and lots of politicians (even Dems, who were in town to do rebuttal interviews) and media types would pop in and out. Charlie was there, and asked if I (a commoner) wanted a picture with him (yes, he asked me). So I said, “Uh, sure”… and the dude stunk from here to high heaven. Worst B.O. ev-ah. Just been waiting for the right moment to share that for 4 years.
Pasalubong on September 19, 2008 at 8:55 PM
You saying he’s dirty?
Paul-Cincy on September 19, 2008 at 8:56 PM
*slaps forehead*
Yeah… how did I forget them. *groan*
Here’s the way I see it, folks. McCain changed the game by adding Palin enough to level the playing field. The problem is that, as anni put it, McCain’s up against the Dems, the media and about 45% of the public.
McCain’s playing a good game of chess, but he’s playing by the rules. As we’ve seen, the opposition has absolutely no regard for rules, decency, respect or even rudimentary logic. So, continuing with the chess analogy, McCain’s playing a masterful game but Obama is simply flipping the board on the floor, standing on his chair and screaming “checkmate” while his audience applauds a “victory” he hasn’t won.
Guerrilla Warfare vs. The Red Coats. Unfortunately, we’re the Red Coats. We need to start playing the game differently. That will not come from McCain, it will have to come from us.
Now, here’s the solution. Obama cannot function outside a controlled and well staged environment. A dozen people holding up signs made him lose the crowd and his entire message.
We’ve got to take the fight directly to him and force him to answer questions and be accountable for all the issues we’ve been blogging about.

Pasalubong on September 19, 2008 at 9:04 PM
Bayam, I’m going have to put that through the semantic analyzer … bing-bing-bing … here we go …
“It’s Palin’s fault that ABC edited her comments to make her look stupid.”
OK well at least we got that cleared up. Nothing to see here, move on citizens, move on …
PackerBronco on September 19, 2008 at 9:11 PM
I’m with you, but if things get to that point (and I can’t see how they won’t) “getting away with it” will be irrelevant. No one is going to hold an impeachment hearing during even a minor conflict (see Clinton and the USS Cole). Plus, if you add media, half the public and 2/3 of Congress, he get away with it just fine. Hell, he could lose all the public and the media. He only needs 2/3 of Congress.
But let’s assume he doesn’t. What are we left with? Biden, Pelosi, Reid and devastated national security and a decimated economy?
We cannot let this man get into the White House.
Damiano on September 19, 2008 at 9:12 PM
Holy sh**! I assumed this was more of a shock headline, and it was really some misconstrued and innocently misspoken comment about Trig. Even that would have been wrong, but WTF?! Seriously, who do these Democrats think they are?
At any rate, don’t expect it to lead any weekend evening news, Sunday talk shows, or any of the nation’s major papers… You know, a leading Democratic Congressman calling a Vice Presidential candidate “disabled” is clearly not news, and certainly wouldn’t be, even if the parties were reversed… right?
RightWinged on September 19, 2008 at 9:16 PM
bayam:
Oh please. Sarah Palin has done several interviews, she does town halls, she lives in Alaska, not the moon.
And even with the editing she sounded more intelligent that Obama does when he is without a script.
And I am tired of people like you acting as if it is okay to attack this woman, as if the normal laws of simple courtesy do not apply to Democrats.
They can lie, like Obama, they can cheat, like Bill, they can steal, like Rangel.
And then they can treat anyone who disarees with them with venom.
They have been doing this to Bush for so long, they think it is normal. But it isn’t.
Terrye on September 19, 2008 at 9:16 PM
I disagree. Obama’s gotten away with it for 19 months.
Show me any instance in Obama’s entire career where he’s be subject to even 1/3 of the scrutiny that Palin’s had to deal with.
The closest was the Rev. Wright stuff, but that was completely swept under the rug by the MSM. All Obama has to do is say, “It all lies. Hope, Change, George Bush sucks” and the media goes immediately back to praising him.
Damiano on September 19, 2008 at 9:17 PM
And besides, bayam, considering how coddled Obama has been I don’t think we need to be talking about who is doing real interviews.
I thought Sarah Palin did just fine in that interview. Even Politico said she held her own.
Terrye on September 19, 2008 at 9:20 PM
Damiano:
The Reverend Wright controversy was after the race began. If they had looked at Obama that close right up front, Clinton would be the nominee today. But they were too busy kissing his ass and people like Rangel could care less if Obama is qualified to be President or not. There is still a lot we do not know about Obama.
Terrye on September 19, 2008 at 9:25 PM
I agree. Especially when the media has ignored:
- Kathleen Sebelius
- Carol Fowler
- Howard Gutman
- Anyone on CNN on a daily basis
- Anyone MSNBC on a daily basis
- Sandra Bernhard
- And now Charlie Rangel
.
Damiano on September 19, 2008 at 9:29 PM
Couldn’t agree more.
My point was to keep bayam from attempting to use that as a counter argument, since it’s the only think that the MSM paid any attention to (barely) in regard to Obama.
Damiano on September 19, 2008 at 9:32 PM
And Biden wants us to prove our patriotism by sending more of our money to Washington so Charlie can manage it for us. How do they get any votes?

Just like I predicted. He will benefit immensely from this bit of business and his wealth will increase. He will retire from Congress amid accolades from everyone to a fat, well-fed and very comfortable life. No hassles, no worries. His remaining years will be filled with joy and contentment – heck, he may ever write his memoirs and make even more money. Then he will die at home, in his bed, peacefully.

You pretty much have the TP on the reasons Rangel sited for needing a draft. From what I understand, though, there’s a wide variety of men and women serving from all parts of our society.
IMHO, it was just a ploy to get people afraid they or their sons would be suddenly drafted and sent to war.
eforhan on September 20, 2008 at 12:33 AM
I do not want to promote either Bill Maher or Andrew Sullivan now, for obvious reasons. But Real Time was really strange tonight in a strangely positive way. In response idiotic socialist crap from some chick named Naomi Klein–Andrew Sullivan almost became a conservative again. Then Sully switched back with a McCain Palin attack. Then Maher went on a rant about religion. Then Sully switched back again. It was like watching a gay version of Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde or the Hulk–except Sully switched back and forth between leftist and conservative.
But, know hope.
The panelists all acknowledged that if Obama is not leading by 5-7% by November 4, he will lose. They said it was racism, but could it possibly be policy-ism? Plus they don’t know how to deal with it, they all had a different attack plan and they all contradicted each other. They are scared. McCain and Palin really have them shaken. I liked that part.

I’ve said it before. Quit feeding the MSM opportunities to bushwhack.
The only way to grant an interview is on GOP turf with GOP cameras, and actually require participating “journalists” to pass through metal detectors to be sure they’re not linking live feeds to networks. Those who wish an invitation submit to RNC regulations and sign contractual obligations. RNC owns all rights and edits its own work to be distributed and shown intact.
maverick muse on September 20, 2008 at 6:19 AM
“You got to be kind to the disabled.”
Nice grammar. What an asshole.
RWLA on September 20, 2008 at 7:17 AM
That would fly if the RNC were honest with their coverage. IE, I doubt they would have released the “fundamentals are sound” remark immediately after it happened. It needed to be seen by voters in it’s raw form. The RNC, just like the rep congress, would abuse the trust we gave them by taking advantage.
Granted, the lies and deceit about his position by the MSM would be over with, but then they’d crucify McCain for managing information. If an entity is determined to cast someone in a bad light, they will definitely find a way irrespective of how you try to stop them.
csdeven on September 20, 2008 at 8:34 AM
Palin did just fine in the Gibson interview, even with the edits. Everyone said so at the time, even a lot of her crtics. If they had shown the entire interview, without editing, Tina Fey would still have been making dumbass comments about Russia on SNL. Critics would still have been complaining about her answer on the Bush Doctrine.
That does not make it okay to edit interviews, but they all do it. Always have.

This guy is a corrupt, incompetent dope and is somehow held out as an example of brilliance, by our idiot media.
It’s official, if you have a “D” after your name, the media will not question your competence, your ethics – anything. You get a free pass.
It’s unbelievable how, without coercion, the media is doing the Democrat’s bidding. If the candidates of the media get elected, how can they seriously expect the American people to believe that they’ll report honestly on their performance while in office?
