Charlie Rangel on Palin: “You got to be kind to the disabled”

posted at 6:07 pm on September 19, 2008 by Allahpundit

It’s not that they hate her, or even how much they hate her, that’s shocking. It’s how open they are about it.

Hey, Nancy? It’s time. Click the image to watch.

No way. Keep this at the seat. He’s a better campaign commercial that way.

HELLLOOO McCain.

Why aren’t you directly attacking congress?

OMG.. this guy a moron!

Chakra Hammer on September 19, 2008 at 6:09 PM

I really hope this reverberates around the nation as a demonstration of just how morally bankrupt the liberal left are in this country. Absolutely disgusting.

Keep it classy you dems… just sowing the seeds of your own destructiong, which honestly cannot come soon enough. Please, God.

David Rasbold on September 19, 2008 at 6:10 PM

Why isn’t going to jail for not paying his taxes?

mindhacker on September 19, 2008 at 6:10 PM

“Charlie Rangel’s comments are clearly disgraceful,” Rep. Peter King, R-Long Island, said. “This is just another liberal Democrat who can’t accept an independent woman running for president.”

King is a badass. I always enjoy hearing him.

And politics is politics, but what is with these people? Are they soulless?

Spirit of 1776 on September 19, 2008 at 6:11 PM

“You got to…”

Such low, low standards.

His clarification a moment later that her “foreign policy is disabled” or whatever will work well enough. He’s a democrat.

We’ll be kind to ya Charlie.

He got part of it right, it’s discrimination to discriminate against someone because of a disability, but he called Palin, disabled!????

Rangel, needs prayers, not hate.. LMAO

It’s not that they hate her, or even how much they hate her, that’s shocking. It’s how open they are about it.

Actually, I’m shocked by how much they hate her. I consider myself a nearly professional Hillary-hater (and a leftist-hater in general), and I’m a piker compared to this bunch.

This guy will pretty much decide tax policy if the Democrats control Congress and the Presidency. He’s already too influential as it is, but with BO in office, he’ll get his way.

Way to go, Charlie!! I think you get the Classy Dem award for the day. Of course, this will be fobbed off by the MSM as “politically disabled” is not a personal insult.

Wrangel should be in jail; probably only his race and a few bought-off Suits keep him out here amongst us

Janos Hunyadi on September 19, 2008 at 6:15 PM

Why is this man not in prison? Seriously. If any other person on earth had his tax record, they would be in a federal pen.

This comment is not surprising to me; not coming out of this jackass’ mouth.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again- Obama is the head of the Democratic Party. If he cannot control his party, there is no excuse for anyone to put him in the White House.

How many Democrats have now come out with openly racist, sexist and otherwise repulsive comments in the past 3 weeks or so?

We need to start making a list.

Pretty fair reporting, but what was interesting is that they described the McCain/Palin response as piling on.

There’s an entire world these liberal people live in where they not only pay no price for comments like these, but are applauded. Even if they lose the election, their world is large enough to feel secure in. It feels like we will never be rid of them. I worry sometimes that their cumulative drag can prove fatal. Ayn Rand wrote a book about them.

JiangxiDad on September 19, 2008 at 6:29 PM

OK, I said you can tell what internal polls say by the actions of the party.
The Dems internal polls show Palin popularity cannot be overtaken except by destroying her.
wRangel and the other nasty comments by Michelle and the lipstick references; that the Dems have a real problem…a real problem and they can’t let this “evil” exist. Now comes the witch hunt, the burning of the “witch” at the stake, the “in your face” comments, they have opened the flood gates of viciousness.
Pelosi won’t do anything, this is part of the Dems strategy, and she knows that Palin has to be destroyed. Next will come death threats (already have), but more serious. They are planting the seeds to exterminate her.
We thought we heard the worst? It is obvious it has just started.
This is not about losing an election, but losing philosophy, a way of life, a lifestyle, a lifetime of indoctrination, this is a civil war between conservatives and liberal ideals. The liberals are afraid and in panic, and that makes them dangerous, physically dangerous.

they just did a piece on how the Republicans in Alaska hated her- they’ve been very negative today. I don’t need that when I have Allahpundit

anniekc on September 19, 2008 at 6:20 PM

Don’t let it bother you. It sounds like Alaska has had some corrupt politicians in both parties for some time. Palin went in and cleaned shop, pissing off folks along the way. I find it very helpful when trying to understand “Troopergate” to know who the players are and who has an axe to grind against Gov. Palin.

Given where we are this election year (O! trying to paint McCain-Palin as Bush-Cheney), it’s actually probably helpful with moderates and independents to know that Palin was willing to piss off her own party to clean house.

Having said that, the RNC should smack these nay sayer Republicans upside their heads.

Y-not on September 19, 2008 at 6:35 PM

eforhan on September 19, 2008 at 6:13 PM

I have read many people who think that we need a draft so that the poor and under-privileged are not the only ones to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan. I don’t see how that makes sense–there was a draft in Vietnam, and yet many “privileged” found plenty of alternate ways to serve other than as an infantryman in ‘Nam.

Do you have any insight into this Democrat talking point?

At the end of the day I begin to envision a McCain/Palin ad…featuring all those who feel they have a hero in Sen. Obama..Sarah Bernhardt, That British wkack job at the Much Music Awards,Matt Damon, Woody Allen (I still can’t believe that the opinions of a guy who has sex with his adopted daughter then divorces his wife to marry her carry any weight anywhere)and of course Rep. Rangel. Just play their endorsements of Sen. Obama…it should be enough.

If a Republican has said anything like this or the countless other disgusting comments we’ve heard from Dems, the entire world would stop. We’d have Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson marching the unwashed masses across America and into every newsroom along the way. There would be riots in the streets and countless acts of violence until whoever said it resigned.

I hate to say it, as I find these acts appalling, but that is why the Democrats have gained a momentum and following. They say and do whatever they want and we forget it in a day or two after trashing them in on a message board.

What Rangel is saying is:
Disabled = Mentally retarded.
++++++++++++

What is it about Obama that makes his followers have so much open, seething hate to those that oppose him? They must think that Obama approves their hate because they keep doing it. I have yet to hear about Obama telling people to directly (as in call up Charlie Rangel) and tell them to stop.

Has there ever been any comentary or essay of what the psychological effect was on Obama when his two fathers and his mother basically abandoned him as a child?
Father one left and wouldn’t take Obama with him. Obama had to leave the step-father (divorce)- another father figure gone. The mother then abandoned Obama at his grandparents, then she went back to the land of his step-father.
That has to be tough on a young child to be dumped by your parents.

albill on September 19, 2008 at 6:50 PM

Why is anybody shocked that Rangel is not in prison. Barney Frank was running a male prostitution ring out of his house and he’s still there. The Democrats thought he had simply started an outreach program to employ the downtrodden gays in his neighborhood to get them started on the road to success. How can you fault the guy for that? They probably even gave him a humanitarian award for his efforts. Then again they may have just named a post office after him.

Then theres William Jefferson who had $90,000 in his deep freeze. He’s still there. Interestingly, that make actually give McCain/ Palin a chance in NY. Rangel doesn’t have many fans outside of the Al Sharpton/ Jesse Jackson fan club crowd.

I agree that it would be nice to see McCain take a strong position on this idiot and call for his removal. It would put substance behind the reform message and earn headlines for a week. Make No Mistake, There ARE Two Americas

On one hand, there’s the United States of America, the most tolerant and freedom-loving country on the face of the planet, a place that tens of millions of us are immeasurably proud to call home.

Then there’s Barack Obama’s vile, racially-divided, hate-filled America, which claims Charlie Rangel as both a citizen and high-ranking member of the “progressive” political machine.

In a just world, this loathsome, corrupt piece of garbage would be forcibly hauled out of his office by a pitchfork-wielding mob, brought to justice, and sent to federal prison for 10 to 15 years. Of course, is a just world, no one this ass-reamingly stupid would never be elected to Congress.

—————-

GIBSON: You believe unprovoked.

PALIN: I do believe unprovoked and we have got to keep our eyes on Russia, under the leadership there. I think it was unfortunate. That manifestation that we saw with that invasion of Georgia shows us some steps backwards that Russia has recently taken away from the race toward a more democratic nation with democratic ideals. That’s why we have to keep an eye on Russia.

And, Charlie, you’re in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They’re very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they’re doing in Georgia?

PALIN: Well, I’m giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

Sarah Palin on Russia:

We cannot repeat the Cold War. We are thankful that, under Reagan, we won the Cold War, without a shot fired, also. We’ve learned lessons from that in our relationship with Russia, previously the Soviet Union.

We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

He’s the clueless guy in a group of guys that you can get to do anything, and he will to be part of the group. What do you like him for?

He just strikes me as a fairly normal dude, despite decades in the Senate. He has somehow avoided becoming the typical politician who never says what he thinks and is always carefully scripted.

That’s not to say I agree with the guy about anything at all, but he’s definitely the type to “drink a beer with”, in my estimation.
