Rangel is just one more in the unending line of Democrat felons, not yet indicted. Scum is as scum does, so I’m not shocked by their behavior. What dismays me is a sitting President who can show such courage and resolve against islamofascist terrorism, but cower like a whipped puppy in the face of the Democrats and not even acknowledge their calumny. You can say Bush is picking his battles. I say, on this issue, he’s a cringing cur.

Actually, for years he contantly painted his opponents as unpatriotic and failing to support the troops. The problem is that Americans stopped buying that line.

If you noticed events that have recently occurred in Pakistan, you might realize why many experts continue to question the US war plan in Afghanistan, including the join chiefs. When Muhsaref was running Pakistan, the US had an ally willing to take the fight to the militants. However, Bush decided to start figting another war. If only the US had focused its military and resources on ridding Afghanistan of the Taliban instead of letting that nation fester into the world’s largest narco state with thriving tribal warlords running most of the country, the situation in the world’s hotbed of Islamic terrorism would be far different. Keep in mind that the very act of the US turning its attention from Afghanistan has created an enormous amount of resentment among the Pakistani people. No one likes having a neighbor that produces more narcotics than Columbia and Bolivia combined, not only funding terrorists but all other kinds of undesirables.

Even if the US now directed its full attention to Afghanistan so that all the Taliban and al Qaeda fighters were forced into the border regions of Pakistan, it’s not clear that there’s either the national political will or political leadership in Pakistan to squeeze the Islamic fighters out of existence. It’s hard to have a very optimistic outlook on how Islamic terrorism will be resoundly defeated with their home bases growing and in the clear.
