Open thread: Part two of Palin on “Hannity & Colmes”

posted at 8:30 pm on September 18, 2008 by Allahpundit

Judging from last night’s ratings, Palinmania’s alive and well. Sound off below if you’re watching, which you are. She gets off a couple of good lines in the leaked excerpts, especially the one directed at Biden. For the record, she probably would have been in fourth grade, not second, when Greasy Joe was first sworn in. And The One would have been just warming up to junior high.

While you wait, a video treat courtesy of CNBC. Click the image and skip ahead to 2:55 to watch. Surely a man who’d just wowed the faithful with a ringing endorsement of Obama at the convention would seize the chance to lay waste to the Republican newbie, right? See for yourself. Exit quotation from the same interview: “I’ve never concealed my admiration and affection for Senator McCain. I think he’s a great man.” Awesome.

When Obama was eight, his future political kickoff host was blowing up bombs on our own soil.

When Palin was eight, Biden was already legislating pork.

When McCain was eight, Lincoln was delivering a famous address. ;-)

I keed, I keed…

Ack the NOW hags, et al.

Great answer about perspective.

tru2tx on September 18, 2008 at 9:21 PM

Tremendous answer to that question about the attacks.

SouthernGent on September 18, 2008 at 9:21 PM

She’s winning 3 millions votes right now.

She’s brilliant.
Unlike a certain Senator from New York, you’re not going to see this woman cry on air.

I like the fact that Hannity can ask these questions without sounding like a patronizing condescending a$$hat.

Palin is more presidential than Obama or Biden

jp on September 18, 2008 at 9:23 PM

Why would anyone care to hear what Bill “Slime” Clinton has to say – icky

defendfaithandfamily on September 18, 2008 at 9:23 PM

The left could take some tips from this interview. Hannity is as smooth as a caramel macchiato in the winter.

She danced around the bridge question a bit though.

FiveWays on September 18, 2008 at 9:25 PM

Has Obama ever had a cabinet?

Go Sarah

cannonball on September 18, 2008 at 9:25 PM

A guy could get used to seeing her face for the next 12 years as VP and then Pres.

uncalheels on September 18, 2008 at 9:25 PM

She finally gets it on the bridge. She killed the bridge…leave it there. She is getting the hang of this. If she gives short answers, she’s very good.

The only place I’m still worried about is the foreign policy, cus she’s not relaxed on it, but she’s getting there.

Chudi on September 18, 2008 at 9:26 PM

Just like Obama asking his associates to take a different position…under the bus

common sensineer on September 18, 2008 at 9:26 PM

She is handling this with class. She is referring to the record. You can tell she is still really miffed about her nephew being tazered. She’s got moxie!

cannonball on September 18, 2008 at 9:27 PM

O.K., Now I get it. Now I see why the dem’s are so wacko about her- she’s good. And she’s honest. And she doesn’t have dirty skeletons. Verrrrrry skerrrrrry for the Libs!

anniekc on September 18, 2008 at 9:27 PM

uhg* ….she dodged the question about supporting the bridge to nowhere before she opposed it……

Yeah, bothered me too, although her “Alaskans didn’t want to pay for it and if they don’t then the rest of the country wouldn’t either” (paraphrasing) thing was pretty good.

DethMetalCookieMonst on September 18, 2008 at 9:28 PM

Chudi, don’t worry about foreign policy. Obama going to Pakistan to visit his college roommate’s family doesn’t count as foreign policy experience. In fact, its a huge negative and one of the many examples of Obama’s exposure to islam.

cannonball on September 18, 2008 at 9:28 PM

Op research not doing their job… nice.

Damiano on September 18, 2008 at 9:28 PM

Only his “medicine” cabinet. Does that count?

uhg* ….she dodged the question about supporting the bridge to nowhere before she opposed it……

FiveWays on September 18, 2008 at 9:25 PM

Sort of. The bottom line is that the bridge wasn’t built per her, with the will of the Alaskans, killing it over objections from those in her own party.

SouthernGent on September 18, 2008 at 9:29 PM

I wonder if there is a liberal “palin live blogging site” I can go visit just to see what they are saying…

cannonball on September 18, 2008 at 9:29 PM

so if they lose, how does she get some Foreign Policy cred to run in 2012?

jp on September 18, 2008 at 9:29 PM

I think she talked too much about Trooper Wooten. She DID emphasize that there are two different issues here, but she shouldn’t have mentioned Wooten at all – there’s enough evidence to show Monegan was fired for being insubordinate.

fiatboomer on September 18, 2008 at 9:29 PM

The only place I’m still worried about is the foreign policy, cus she’s not relaxed on it, but she’s getting there.

She can start by probably cutting out the buzz words. Like, I think she says, “Islamic extremist terrorist” all in one sentence. She should probably just stick to terrorist or something simple.

tdavisjr on September 18, 2008 at 9:29 PM

FiveWays on September 18, 2008 at 9:25 PM

Let’s see the bridge to nowhere. It drew alot of neg attention so what did Ted Stevens did. he took the bridge out but left the money in so that the bridge could still be built but without the attention. The GOv step in and said no. that isn’t right. We have many other uses for that taxpayer money. Therefore she killed the bridge. Without her the bridge would be being built right now. What part of that do people not understand. If GOv Palin did not say no the bridge would be being built. she was the one that redirected the money to other worhtwhile projects. Without her the bridge would be being built. I am so tired of lazy thinking people. Do they think that the bridge just stopped itself. the money was voted for it for the express purpose of the bridge. The corrupt do nothing congress tried to hide the fact by renameing the money. GoV Palin rightly said no that is dishonest.

canon,

I agree. i thnk she’s getting there. In a debate, where she’s forced to give short answers, i think she will do really well.

She is definitely getting comfortable with interviews. i think she was very nervous before…but she will be fine.

Chudi on September 18, 2008 at 9:30 PM

Yeah, bothered me too, although her “Alaskans didn’t want to pay for it and if they don’t then the rest of the country wouldn’t either” (paraphrasing) thing was pretty good.

DethMetalCookieMonst on September 18, 2008 at 9:28 PM

I seriously don’t see the issue on this one. The result is the result- she stopped it. Period.

I also thought she sorta dodged the bridge question, I think she can do better than that.

When Hannity brought up the specifics of the “troopergate” thing, she seemed like she was going to get into it but quickly stopped herself. That was the right thing to do, I got nervous when she started and was thinking “Don’t take the baaaait!”

Sarah Palin ROCKS!!!!!!!

Right, she’s like a rock, only dumber. If you put Bush and Palin in the same room, their combined gene pool wouldn’t be enough to fill your kids inflatable raft.

Can you imagine Palin being subjected to the type of interview that Clinton gave above? Unless she had been prepped with canned responses, it would be a total disaster. Maria would come under attack from the right for asking ‘unfair’ questions that the interviewer didn’t fully grasp.

But I don’t mean to scare anyone- the McCain team will never let her loose on CNBC.

Seven Percent Solution on September 18, 2008 at 9:40 PM

I’ve been focusing on the comments here from men (as well as I can identify them), and it’s really interesting. Of course, this is a Palin friendly group, but I can’t help but wonder what other men are thinking, those who would normally vote a Dem ticket.

My guess is that they will find Sarah appealing in many ways. What do you fellas think? I think she’ll steal some votes.
