Democrats have knuckled under to GOP demands to let the congressional ban on offshore drilling and shale recovery in the Rocky Mountains expire on October 1 for a period that will last at least through the rest of the year.

Now, maybe I’m being unduly influenced by our local Eeyore, but 3 months doesn’t seem like a lot of time to actually accomplish anything related to drilling\extraction.

I’m not saying I buy the “it will take 7+ years” bit either, but I’d be willing to be bet that once their election-seats are safe, democrats first action will be to reinstate the ban.

Government is not the solution. Usually it’s part of the problem. What better example here than the current energy crisis.

On topic, I sent emails to both of my senators, Isakson and Chambliss, both members of the Gang of Umpteen. I got a response from Chambliss. It was a form letter, of course, but it was quite substantive, and he included a fact sheet that even included some actual facts. I am still not sold on the bill and I will probably make good my threat not to vote for Chambliss. (I won’t vote for the Democrat, either.)

I was confused for a moment. Without the Senate proposal at ready reference, the above caption intimates that McCotter’s letter attempts to push a compromise energy bill that ignores our current situation and future security as well. Comments assure otherwise.

Someone put this man in charge of McCain’s advertising.

Thirdly, there are many Americans today looking for employment and would love to be able to work supplying Americans with American made energy.

Produce it here provides us jobs.

Nan and harry will not do anything on this issue till after the election. They do not care a flying flick about American citizens, only how much their wallets are fattened.

They will have to do something. As I understand it, the OCS ban will expire on 10/1, unless it is reauthorized. The House already passed the bill. We just need the Senate to refuse to vote on this bill or one like it to come out of conference.
